@Eklispe ... Cute dog. Your sacrifice is accepted. The GM is appeased.
Eh. XD I had a feeling it was just something like that. Thank you for a swift response. Nicely posted. I'll have a response posted soon enough. But first, @Joshua Tamashii, want to confirm the action? Do you want to write anything small before I post or shall I go ahead?
@Pikmin Eye ... I've come up with something, had a paragraph typed out here, but then I suddenly realized that perhaps I should leave you guessing until the time comes. Yeah, I think I'll do that. Heh.
@Eklispe And I'll admit to being a little worried myself. A rule I put on myself (and not always succeed with) is to give a post a response before it ticks "5 days ago", and it would be nice if my players could do the same when talking to one another, and the time on Joshua's post is currently on "4 days ago". The pressure's a bit higher when with another player on account of there's a person that can't continue without your input, but I'd also hope the reward is greater. I've already prepared the introduction post of Route 6 with the assumption you're heading there, I intend to post it the moment I have confirmation that that's actually the intention and current action.
@Pikmin Eye Alright. You take that path. Nicely posted.
Then, now to consider the inner fundamentals of Teleport. I'll say that using Teleport out-of-battle wise as it is used in the game will need a powerful Psychic Pokémon, simply due to distance and such. However, here's the conundrum. Does Teleport teleport you to the last Pokémon Center YOU'VE been in, or the last Pokémon Center the POKÉMON has been in? Because the two alternatives have very different answers. Logic would say the Pokémon's last. Gameplay would say your last. Any input on which you'd prefer? Hahaha...
... Wait. Teleport can't be used in caves?
Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh.
Huh.
And it isn't even early-installment weirdness, this is true in all generations.
...
Well. I mean, I COULD switch to that she offered you (forced upon you) an Escape Rope, or I just tweak how Teleport works. Perhaps I just give it a range instead, make Xatu teleport you straight up. XD
Heading to the Pokémon Center. At the very least the Pokémon Center seemed to have the same design no matter where it was, easily recognizable over a distance and easy to get to, even under the rain of Rainrock City.
Now, there was actually a bunch of trainers in here, because Rainrock City’s the way between Redcoast City to Pureplain City.
‘Hello, and welcome to the Pokémon Center. Would you like to rest your Pokémon?’
Assumingly, yes.
‘Okay. I’ll take your Pokémon for a few seconds, then.’
She’d then accept the Pokéballs and put them into the machine, and…
‘Thank you for waiting. We’ve restored your Pokémon to full health.’
She says as she hands the Pokéballs back. She then bows to her customer and gives a friendly smile.
‘We hope to see you again!’
There’s conversations going on around her, not necessarily directed at her but perhaps she’ll overhear a bit.
‘Other than being full of Rock-Pokémon, the Rainrock Caves are filled with a bunch of weird plates, engraved in ancient times. There are engravings on each that we’re still trying to read. They’re studying at the Rainrock Academy, I wonder if they’ve found anything?’ ‘There’s been a lot of lightning around Route 11 lately. Fortunately, those Pokémon seem to attract the lightning, meaning the bolts never do much damage. Fortunate, that.’
Anyways, that aside. She found the Pokémart soon enough, and it’s an older building, tight between the shelves yet still very much a Pokémart.

She can buy things she need and then head on. What would she do now?
1. Find Pokémon. Can still search for Pokémon in towns~ 2. Talk. In cities, there are considerably more people one can talk to. Talking can give you info on local rumors and such. 3. Exit. Exit the town to any of the connected areas. 4. Specify. If you specify what you want to do, the GM will take it into account and tell the result. 5. Trigger random event. Force the GM to use his imagination to make a scenario for you. 6. Notable Places. Visit any of the places in the city! 6.1. Pokémon Center. Heal all your Pokémon. 6.2. PokéMart. Go to a store and buy things. 6.3. Rainrock Academy/Gym. A higher-level Pokémon academy for higher-level studies. Also doubles as the Pokémon Gym for ??? 6.4. Rainrock Library. Information stored throughout the ages. Are you interested in any particular subject? 6.5. Rainrock Lake/Rivers. Powerful currents flow beneath, a calm lake lies midst the town. Surely, some water-Pokémon got to inhabit these. 6.6. Rainrock Caves. Ancient, shallow caves in which contain numerous Rock-types. Something lived in here in ancient times. 6.7. Old Street. Many old people live here. Careful, they don’t actually have much else to do but battle. 7. Familiar Faces, Oaken and Rodger. Two of Jacques’ hopefuls that Claire might remember. Oaken’s taking great interest in the Library, Academy/Gym and the Caves, walking back and forth staring down into a guide-book with utmost focus. Rodger stands beside him with an umbrella and doesn’t look nearly as interested. Claire could pick which place she’d want to run into them in front of.
Connected areas: Route 3. To the south, the route around the mountain, leading to Route 4 or Highhill Town. A wet woodland. Route 11. A semi-populated road west under heavy rainfall, starting with a descent down towards Redcoast City. Abandoned buildings on the south side facing Silent Forest.
Prioritized getting something out quickly. The italics is just Knight thinking, she's not saying anything. Then it'd have apostrophes and color. Anyways. There. Attack with the one projectile currently available to her.
Knight got a distressed expression under her helmet as she received Ifrit’s message. The restraints weren’t done, she had no ammo.
The heck, Ifrit!? Didn’t I tell you that after I captured someone in my cage I’ll have limited-
-actually, did she tell him? Didn’t she make a point to never mention her weaknesses inside this building? Oh, oh well. Guess he was in a pretty desperate spot, too. Okay, so guess that in the end, she wasn’t COMPLETELY out of projectiles…
Cue Black Kaze, encased in Knight’s armor, was sent flying like a missile feet-first at Zabaniya from the angle closest to behind that Knight could get to, Knight adding a spin to the flight to make it a spinning kick if successfully impacted. Feet-first because that would hopefully hurt the woman inside less in the end.
As she sent that, Knight dashed after, intent to be in a position to assist potentially physically with armor and sword in case of an impact but Zabaniya wasn’t out yet. Her actions then would depend on the result of her projectile, which certainly would arrive before she did.
Oh, yikes. I didn’t write my entry with the Terminal treatment Someone TM that in mind. I was just writing casual-contest writing. Haha.
In the meantime, here’s my opinions. That are my own and I’m not any kind of authority.
”Blacksoul”. What a telling name. XD
… Oh, dear, sweet mother of otters, this was ridiculous, in a good way. XD
Well. Okay. I don’t have much more to say. It’s clear you were making a joke, and it worked. I currently can’t stop smiling. Alright. Well done. Now go do whatever else you’re doing. Haha.
Hm. That’s a curious development. The sculptor's death caused the carving to become priceless. I’m intrigued by this. Nicely written.
I guess that was an old enemy that had come to take revenge. Yeah, it’s nice. The part of him just being old was a bit wordy, but suppose that was needed to get us in the right mood. Took a few tries for me to get through. But, yeah. It’s nice.
… Bitter, slightly bittersweet but definitely on the bitter side. Poor mother. Oh, well.
A different kind of “second chance”, huh? Well. That’s one take on it. Well written. I believe you caused the intended emotions.
… Yeah.
I don’t entirely get it, but this sure is one beautiful picture you’re painting. Bittersweet, but with emphasis on sweet.
The only taste we really get of how bad he was is a single mention of delinquency, but heck. After having read about numerous jerks in a row and myself having written about a bitch, this was a nice change of pace. Nicely written.
Well. Our character is a god in existential crisis, huh. I am very confused as to who Miriam is and why a god who has destroyed everything keeps her around. Oh, well.
It was interesting, after I finally got into it. I’m a bit confused as to why love would influence him after he already knows everything, but hey, good for him. There were a few minor errors in the text, but overall it was good. I can’t write spiritually, heh. Nicely done.
I’m sorry to say, that fell flat for me. The whole last scene is an info-dump as it is, just the prince being convinced of who he is and such. But, there are so many little things. Why would he have been given a Mahali name if Queen Bitch was pretending to be the real mother? If she had such a grasp of the king, I feel like that’s something she could control. I must assume Mahali and Eccahanians look pretty similar, or he would have thought of this a while ago. It is possible, but…
Eh, those details aside, it felt somehow unnatural. I’m not entirely sure. It was a scene that I’ve seen many times before in other stories, it somehow never gets less awkward, and afterwards it builds up a lot of world that we never get to actually see in action. I don’t think that works well in a short story. It’s clearly a part of a larger story, but at this moment, I’m unsatisfied.
Still. Lia and Teddy were cute together. The opening scene was interesting, set up a mystery for why the queen spared the man, and then excitement when the prince goes out sneaking on his own. That far was excellent. I just wasn’t a fan of the exposition.
I’ll assume this was your way of getting over the “tell a story in a mere 1000 words” problem. Yupp, this certainly works (almost).
I sense a lot of story that isn’t being explicitly told here. The title for one, some lethal bombs. But, we’re focusing on the actions of this one woman. Yeah, I found this interesting. Well done. Shall I assume the change we’re to see is how she did admit what she had done and went from cursing at him to “maybe”? Yeah, might work. This was a pleasure to read. Thank you.
… Hah. Okay, I’ve seen plenty of first-person stories, heck, I wrote one, but you’re using “you”? You’re giving the reader an identity? Interesting. Let’s see where it goes.
Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuum.
Ooooooooooooooookay.
So, what level of mind-screw is this? Hahahaha.
So, was that a metaphor, or is she literally taking off parts of her body and giving them to people based on their needs?
I have no idea. But, I’m stunned. I have few words. I don’t get it but I love it. This is amazing. Hahaha.
I will question, this seems more about this mysterious entity. Sure, the talking guy had a change of heart, but… he’s not the highlight, now, is he? Also, what’s up with the title? What part here’s about potatoes? Oh, well. Hahaha.
*first thing I write on this post* I hadn’t read any of the other entries before I wrote mine, so any similarities are because of the prompt! XD
It is quite simply the journey of a girl who thought she was the ideal criminal yet had these pesky things called feelings mess it up. Not sure if it’ll actually be an enjoyable read, and I do know I show very little of her “second chance”, but this is the inspiration I got from the prompt. I realized after I was done it should have been more about her new self rather than the story of her dark self eventually turning to her new one. Oh, well.
First-person because, well, the main character is a bitch who’s emotions conflict her world-view, and I thought it would become more personal like that. Not really written to be my magnum opus or anything, I was just happy to write for a contest of some sort again, and I tried to make it a short story due to the supposed 1000 word-limit that I couldn’t maintain. Heh.
I’ll see what people think.
Edit: Also, I made the mistake of thinking I had to get the entry in BEFORE Monday, not ON Monday. I caused myself stress for no real reason on Sunday. XD
I don’t get it. It feels like there’s a lot larger a universe here, and that I’m only feeling the smallest part of it. And, yeah, ultimately I don’t understand what happened. Where exactly in the story did he make the trade? Was it a conscious trade? Was it when he dropped the ball of madness somewhere? What else could he have done? What exactly did he trade for what?
@Pirouette "No matter the result resume digging", huh. If you hold true to that, I left what will happen in a hider at the end. I have this strange notion that might not be precisely what you'd be thinking of doing, though. Heh.
But what do I know? Maybe you keep going regardless. If you don't, the item I GMd up to be in there won't go away, it'll still be there if you continue digging later, heh.
Smoochum noted them waving in the reflection, and without turning she made a tiny salute and a wink before turning and running back into the Frozen Cave tunnels.
Erika was afterwards excavating the Inkay she found. Inkay was gently melted out of the ice, and then Erika could take it out and held the cold Pokémon, the not-water Pokémon slowly warming in her grasp.
‘… Nkay…?’ It asked, looking up curiously as its eyes started working again, blinking and wiggling a little in Erika’s grasp.
As she was asking “you alright” a nearby miner noticed what she was doing, blinked a bit and raised his hand and voice towards her.
‘Eh, you might want to be careful there. Recently excavated Pokémon have a tendency to-’
‘I-INKAY!’ The Pokémon suddenly vanished in a flash, before a dark energy-beam (Foul Play) flew through Erika’s grasp, which actually was Inkay itself. The attack went in-between Erika’s arms and exited above her head, not actually hitting her but was quite close to doing so.
‘-attack,’ the miner finished with a grimace, a touch too late.
‘I-inkay-!’ The panicked Pokémon was now drifting through the air above and behind Erika, eyeing her and Chic with wide eyes. If left to be long enough, it’d start setting up Reflect-barriers.
Erika ignores the Pokémon and turns back the the ice-wall with the pickaxe. Inkay is thoroughly confused at being ignored and resolves to drift away and out of sight, resolving to find its own answers as to what happened to it and where it is.
After digging some, there is another item that seems to have a different shape than ordinary rocks. Is that a gem? … It IS a gem! A green gem! … Pale-green gem!
Erika obtained Bug Gem!
She’d probably feel the mining starting to take on her arms now, seeing how she isn’t used to mining. But she could probably continue for a bit longer, should she desire to.
Pokédex Entry #708 – Phantump, the Stump Pokémon. Said to be stumps possessed by the spirits of children who died lost in forests. Found mainly in lonely forests where humans don’t tread, they can lead humans astray with their eerie cries that imitate a human child’s. The leaves on its head are said to have healing properties.
Meanwhile, Amelia has seen both these Pokémon before, one is the most common Pokémon in town, but for the sake of consistency.
Pokédex Entry #172 – Pichu, the Tiny Mouse Pokémon. It can store electricity in its cheeks, but it's unstable, and may accidentally discharge upon startled or feeling other emotions that my cause it to lose focus. When playing with other Pichu, they touch tails and set off sparks as a test of courage.
Pokédex Entry #194 – Wooper, the Water Fish Pokémon. It lives in cold water, sleeping on the bottom and seeking food by the shore when it's cold. When walking above water, wild Woopers cover their bodies with a slimy, poisonous film that keeps them from dehydrating. It's slightly dull-witted.
