Savannah
- Pennsylvania, one mile from Wolves camp

Savannah watched as the Wolves approached her and sat patiently. Despite their attempts not to step on leaves, she could hear each of them breathing as if they were next to her. She set her elbows on her knees, her hands on one another and then her chip on it. The spear in her pants' loop was angled between them as well. She knew she could grab it quick enough if she needed defend herself; though she doubted they would instantly attack her. She knew she could handle herself if anything should occur. Of course, Pepper wasn't too far away either, more than likely poised to attack as well. She hoped he wouldn't show himself.

A sudden whisper caused her to turn her head ever so slightly. There he was: the leader of the Wolves or Satan himself. The woman next to him must have been his right hand. His eye color was shocking, though she had already seen him to know it wasn't natural. Savannah could not help but smirk. Had she caused enough trouble to lure him out? She studied her angle and direction to him. He was farther away, though not out of her reach. A quick, unexpected throw with her spear to could possibly turn fatal. Despite the temptation it brought, she knew that wouldn't be the right move. She was outnumbered. She withheld a sigh as to not show aggravation and turned her gaze down to the Wolves surrounding her tree. Her angle was rigid now with them right underneath her. The upper hand she had though was the element of surprise.

"Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. What's up?" Savannah turned to gaze at Roman and look him in the eye."I'll give you a hint, it's me." She winked at him and lounged back into the branch behind her while keeping the spear nearby her. There were still faint drops of blood on them she hadn't completely washed out. Savannah glanced at them briefly and wipe some of it off and brought it to her lips. "Mm, Type A. My favorite." She had been careful not to let it enter her mouth and only her lips. She brushed it off on her pants and adjusted her jackets. She wasn't thankful to have them now; they hid her body and if she were mutated or not. While she had been greeting them, Anna had been careful to conceal her fangs. She faintly smirked and stared Roman down.

Savannah finished cleaning off her spear and looked around. She could hear footsteps and counted them quickly. She girted her teeth. The Wolves knew. She darted back into greenery and into the cave. "Pepper!" She called and ran over to him. God, he looked so adorable, laying there peacefully, with his ears back. She swallowed hard as tears filled her eyes. If they found him, they might kill him and she couldn't risk that. "Pepper," She tried again as he lazily opened his eyes. He stared at her in alarm as he sat up and stretched, alert. He barely held back his yawn. "They know, Pep. You have to go." He stared at her and opened his mouth to growl a retort but she shook her head. Her voice was breaking and tears streamed down her face. "Go, Pep. I can't lose you. I love you so much. I'll find you again. I promise, okay?"

He reluctantly didn't move, then slowly ran out of the woods and into the night. She knew he wouldn't go too far and would watch but at least he would be safe. He would be able to hide well. With deep breaths, she turned to her supplies and pulled on her gloves. She sat up and then dug around in her second bag hurriedly. She pulled out a few plants she knew to be poisonous and darted back outside. She set them the plants in the traps and smudged them around it. If they came into contact with skin, a rash would start and soon, enter the bloodstream and begin killing the victim from the inside out. She then went back into her home and pulled her leather hooded jacket and stuffed her weaponry into her pockets and her knives into her boots safely. She tugged her top down and pulled another bulkier jacket over the rest. She then marched back outside.

Anna it her lip and looked at the boulder she used to cover the cave during raids or bad storms. She grunted with stress as she pushed it in front of the cave but left a sliver of it open for her. Only smaller bodies would fit inside. She then gritted her teeth and knew she wouldn't be able to run. Besides, what was the point? She couldn't run from here to the town safely in time. By the sound of the footsteps, they'd be too close to successfully run away. A sudden smirk crossed her lips as she looked at a nearby tree she frequently used as a vantage point. Memories of using it to watch the unset filled her mind but she swallowed it away. Anna set the spear in her mouth and quickly climbed it. She moved onto a branch slightly over the cave and leaned up against the branch behind it. She set the spear into the loophole of her combat pants securely, arms behind her head, and awaited her fate.

Soft, nearly inaudible, crunching of leaves filled the crisp autumn air of Pennsylvania. A young female clad in black with her hair in a ponytail approached a cave. Most people avoided these now; they were usually filled with mutated animals ready to rip someone's throat out. This one, however, was inhabited by her best friend: a mutated fox named Pepper. He was the size of a Great Dane with the agility of a fox and strength of a wolf. He had come to her in her time of need and she had never stopped repaying him her gratitude. With a bloody spear in hand and a grin on her face, she entered the cave. She glanced over at the greenery behind her and was thankful for their cover. It provided an ominous setting at night which kept any trespassers at bay.

It wasn't much, but it was home. She had a sleeping bag she often shared with him, her backpack, weaponry, a shredded but usable pillow, blanket and even some lanterns. She had become accustomed to the dark, though she relied on her hearing rather than eyesight. She had another bag filled with the few clothing items she possessed. She also had a makeshift clothing line hanging near the back for when she washed her clothes. She had an assorted amount of trinkets - bracelets, necklaces, all hand made and also on her own. Craft making wasn't her specialty. She had been hoping to scavenge more so she could sell it and in turn buy more food rather than stealing.

"Pepper, I found food!" Savannah called as she slipped the backpack off. She twirled the spear and set it up against the wall to clean later. She tore off her black gloves and set them nearby the spear. A pair of bright yellow eyes greeted her as she approached the end of the cave. "I even got your fav, bud. C'mere." Pepper yawned as he approached her and watched as she emptied the backpack. She could tell by his dazed expression he had been napping. The poor baby had been up all night protecting her, she realized. It had made her feel guilty and determined to find him food. "I got you berries! A whole back of them, Pep. Can you believe it?" She smiled as the fox sniffed the contents and nodded his appreciation. She pulled more items out of her bag, thrown together unceremoniously. She had tied the dead animals into a separate bag though, knowing better than to mix that together with the fresh food.

"And I even found you some vegetables. You need those," She smirked at his upturned nose and laughed. "You need your vitamins. It's tough living out here, Pep. Do you know how many people and animals don't have veggies?"

She sighed as he scowled and narrowed his eyes. "Okay. Fine. I got you a squirrel, one rabbit and even eggs. Can you imagine? Eggs! When's the last time we had that, bud?" She reached over and began to stroke his head and he licked her face. She laughed as she set the contents back except for the berries. "I'll cook all of this later. We can eat the berries but remember to ration, okay? I can't keep stealing too much at once."

Savannah smirked to herself. She had been stealing from the Wolves' supply and food for two months. She had been aware they were near her camp but hadn't realized their close proximity. After nearly starving to death the previous summer, Savannah had decided to risk her neck and steal from them. The first few attempts, she had been terrified she would be caught and killed while her fox starved and never knew she she hadn't returned. As the months passed by, her nerves settled into confidence. It had turned into into an unpredictable schedule of her stealing more food. Thanks to her enhanced hearing, Savannah had began to recognize their guard order and who was Normal and mutated. She knew the regular humans who hadn't mutated were easier to steal on. Savannah secretly hoped they'd start a civil war one one another trying to locate the thief.

Savannah and Pepper had both began to gain weight and muscle mass, eventually becoming healthy. Despite her efforts, they were still underweight. She knew it would take time, but it was starting to irritate her. Savannah glanced at him as she fed him berries form her hand then brushed off her worry. It wouldn't do her any good. After she finished feeding him, she cleaned off her hands with sanitizer (she had stolen it form the Wolves) and then fed herself. She loved finding vegetables - pumpkins, squash and carrots were some of her favorites. She relished finding vegetables that hadn't rotted. It was rare.

When she finished eating, she stuffed everything back into her supply bag and looked at her spear. She sighed as she stood up and looked at Pepper. "I'm going to go clean this. You rest up and later I'll cook us some squirrel. Sweet dreams, Pep." She kissed his head and he returned the favor by licking her face again. She smiled at him, grabbed her spear, and headed out to the river. It wasn't too far. Savannah had only been slightly shocked that the cave hadn't been taken. It was close to the Wolves yet far enough; it was near the town where she'd steal and buy food as well. The river wasn't as polluted as the others and was clearer than most. She was delighted to have found it. The crowded trees nearby shrouded it in darkness and at night, it was ominous. Savannah smiled and tightened her ponytail and went over to the river and began cleaning off her bloody spear.

Hello :)
Shay

Shay stared a Alex came in and opened her arms up to him quickly. "Alex!" She cried before she could reply to Jason. "I've missed you!" She shrugged off her injuries and tried to crack a smile but whimpered in pain instead. Her face felt like glass. She stopped trying to smile and instead pulled him closer to her so she could rest her face against his chest. She was careful to filter her thoughts about her evening so he would not be able to read them. All she allowed herself to think about was how much she loved and missed him. She then looked at Alex's hand after hearing Jason and stared with panic. "What the hell?"

As she listened to the exchange, her eyes teared up. Rose, now Alex? Why was this happening? She grabbed the blanket and wrapped it around his hands. "We'll have to get you gloves. I think I have some in my room, okay? I won't let anything happen to you, Boo Bear. You're safe with me." She hugged him tightly to her and wouldn't let go of him. "Nobody's touching you." There was a pause, then she added, "And of course Alex is worth at least half a million, I'd say he's worth everything in the world. Don't you, love?"

She rubbed his back in small circles and ignored the throbbing pain from her face, abdomen and chest. Her head felt as if there were bombs going off on it. She gripped her head painfully and bit her tongue hard which only caused more pain. The room was spinning around her the more she moved or sat up. She moaned and laid down and stared at Alex and asked him telepathically if he'd lay down with her. Shay stared at the two of them. "Will you let me know how Rose is the moment she wakes up so I can come see her?"
Shay

The exhausted sigh of the tall young woman broke the silence of the serene home. Shay groaned as she slipped off her heels (or death traps as she called them) and hung up her coat. She pulled her hair out of the ponytail it had been in all day with relief. God, her head had been hurting. She hated pulling it up into ponytails. She looked around the house briefly for Alex. Her heart skipped a beat just thinking about him. She could feel her entire body relax and her expression lighting up. "Alex, I'm back! And I've missed you so so much!" She paused, then added, "And I'm so excited to see yoouuuu." She changed pajamas and took off her makeup.

Afterwards, she laid down on the bed with a groan. Her body ached from wearing her high heels. She was not looking forward to ever wearing them again. Shay sighed about thinking of how she would have to dress herself up again tomorrow. This damn corporation had to have a dress code, didn't it? At least they had accepted her; most of the businesses had turned her down due to her age and inexperience. She knew she wanted to become an official employee here for its' elite reputation, money and benefits. Shay combed her hair through her fingers and looked at the clock. It read 7:00. There was enough time in the evening to still see Alex and also eat. She rubbed her temples and stood up and went to the kitchen.

Savannah
District 11 - Prison Cell 0

"Ninety-two bottles of beer on the wall, ninety-two bottles of beer. Take one down, pass it around. Ninety-one bottles of beer on the wall, ninety-one bottles of beer. Take one down, pass it around, ninety bottles of beer on the wall. Eighty nine bottles..." The hushed voice barely reached anyone's ears, but for her, that was acceptable. The quieter she was, the less she was noticed. Being alone in this hellish solitude was a mere blessing. People had to come to her if they wanted to bother her, not the other way around. It was a small white room with a bed and complete with a separate bathroom. There weren't any windows and there was a small heater and air conditioner. The only sound accompanying her singing was rhythmic bouncing of a small tennis ball she was tossing against the wall. Strands of dark hair fell in her eyes which she brushed away. She was trying to do anything but go crazy from being in here, even if it meant singing juvenile songs.

She rolled her shoulders as she caught the ball and cracked her neck. Where was Shay? Was she alive, she wondered? She gripped the ball tightly then randomly thrust it at the wall in frustration. It bounced loudly against it, emitting a soft thud. It came bouncing back to her and she held it tightly. Savannah looked down at her white knuckles and clenched her teeth. You can't think that way, they want you angry....

"Id'd say if you had another power, then you could have blasted through that wall, Savannah." The hairs on the back of her neck rose and she did not turn around to face the speaker. If Satan had ever met his match, it was him. She swallowed and said nothing. Sometimes not saying anything at all was safer than speaking. Others, it was harmful. The mind games he played were hard to keep up with for her. "I'd say, too, you're afraid to speak, am I right, Ava?" she swallowed harder this time and concentrated her energy on the tennis ball. "Sometimes not speaking is rude, don't you think?"

"Sometimes," she replied weaker than she wanted to and cleared her throat to reiterate, "Sometimes."

"I'm glad you and I can agree on this." While she had been busy concentrating on her tennis ball, the familiar sound of the beeping had only reached her subconscious. Her door was only accessible through a series of codes, facial recognition, then another code. She had tried to work out the number code based on the sound but it hadn't worked. The intercom in her room wasn't something she could turn off either so anyone was able to speak to her even if she was asleep. She braced herself for her temples wanting to explode, but it didn't come. The sigh of relief could have melted chocolate; she wasn't in the mood for the horrific pain today. Savannah finally turned around to face the Devil's match. He stood there in his leather jacket and darker attire with his tawny hair unusually sleeked back. He usually left it a tousled mess, but there must have been an event today in order for him to appear this well-kept. Her mind began reeling but his voice cut her off from trying to think.

"There's been another raid, little Ava." He came over to kneel in front of her. They hadn't been eye-to-eye in months, and she hadn't remember how handsome he looked up close. His charming smile had melted hr the first time she had sen him. That had been her mistake and he knew it well. Thus, Savannah avoided his piercing icy-blue gaze. It was as if he had consumed winter in his eyes and voice. His demeanor was bathed with despair and death. It wasn't something he let people pick up on the first time they met him.

"Let's hope we find more useful people like you, yes? Maybe you could make a friend!" He grinned as he took her chin in his hand to study her fear and contempt. Savannah glared at him and stared him down despite her trembling hands and body. "I certainly hope your sister is not among them, Ava, because I'd miss you." He smiled and kissed her forehead. He laughed hysterically like a hyena as she recoiled and jerked away. He stood up then grabbed her by her hair to force her at his eye level. She gasped and inhaled as she met his piercing gaze. "Because you're my little healer, and you're not going anywhere. Your sister is as good as dead if she ever comes around." He thrust her into the wall harshly, then down and kicked her in the abdomen.

Savannah let out a cry of pain and her vision went black. She hit the floor unable to pick herself up. There was flecks of red meeting her on the floor. Her body began to regenerate the wounds and quickly heal her. She hated herself for having this power. They tortured her endlessly since she could heal. "And we can't lose you, Ava. You're ours, and you know that don't you? I marked you with that I thought." He cackled as he reminded her of the branded tattoo on her neck. Fortunately with her long hair, it was always covered, but that didn't stop him from bringing it up. She gritted her teeth, but didn't approach him or attack back. It was foolish to try; his powers were much more powerful than her. Besides, it was a suicide wish; they'd find and kill Shay if she didn't cooperate. She picked herself up and glared at him. Neil was aware of that and loved throwing it in her face. "Till next time, little Ava. I'll miss you." He left with a charming smirk as he glanced over his shoulder at her once more.

Once he was gone, Savannah pulled herself up and onto the cot nearby her. She curled up in the sheets and began to sob into her pillows.
