Well, I was also thinking of trying to stop the angry construct, because I can't really see Ren getting into a team exercise like Other Ren and Yusuke's fight because he'd probably just assume he'd let his team down. He might be very slightly more confident after his time at Geiru, but he's not that confident... So yeah, looks like the two nervous second years might end up becoming pals after all!

"Oh, I'm sure we can." Leo said, a smirk that would sadly go unseen on his face. "I mean, I don't know about you, but this is hardly my first rodeo, and with them not being able to see us? Too easy."

Of course, his grin faded a little when all the dolls heads turned towards them with an unnerving click.

"Or, maybe being invisible won't even matter. I guess this means you should decloak us for now, because hey, if it they can still see and hit us, what's the point in risking it ourselves, right?"

And then he threw the spear up into the air, the movement almost appearing lazy in how casual it was, before uttering a single world, loud enough this time for everyone to hear it, even if they couldn't understand it.

"HUNT."

As soon as the command was spoken, the spear was already flying, driving itself through one of the dolls legs, obliterating it. He stared in only somewhat contained disgust as he saw what looked like blood pour from the wound, even as he pulled out the pistol he'd brought with him to London and fired three rounds into another's chest.

"The hell?" He asked, his voice making it even cleared how off-putting he found the revelation than his expression. "Ugh, now that's just not right..."

Shy and nervous. Two concepts that pretty much define Ren's entire existence. All in all, he thinks he's kind of useless, and prefers to stay as far away from being the center of attention as physically possible. He doesn't even really believe in his own abilities all that much, and the idea that others might depend on him is something that terrifies him to his core. However, he also knows that as someone who actually does have some level of power, he has to at least try, even if he thinks he'll fail to make a difference.

Background:
Ren has had a fairly ordinary life given the current state of the world. Mother dying in childbirth and no information on his father, Ren grew up in an orphanage surrounded along with over fifty other children. While some may find this quite a healthy place to grow up, others know one of the defining facts of life to a young person who has fallen behind in some way.

Children are cruel.

For Ren, who was visibly shorter than most of the others, this couldn't have been clearer. Between the ages of four and fifteen, he was molded by bullying and teasing, becoming a ball of nerves and self-doubt. Sure, the caretakers did what they could to prevent it, and there were plenty of kids who tried to stick up for him, but the bullies always seemed to find a way around these obstacles, getting him where they couldn't see. Eventually, this did mellow out, as his tormentors finally matured enough to realize how needlessly cruel they were being and left him alone. Some even apologized to him. It didn't matter though, the damage had been done. He already had little to no faith in himself. Even if the bullying had stopped, the mere fact that he had never been able to stand up for himself when it took place only proved that what they had said was true. He was weak. Too weak to do anything, for himself or for others. All he could do was drift through life and wait for the next reminder of his own uselessness.

It was during this time, where he felt like he had nothing he could accomplish, that he began visiting his mothers grave more and more often. Here he would confess how weak he felt, releasing all his problems to the gravestone and wondering if there was something, anything, that he could do to grow beyond this. Something to prove to the world that there was a reason for him to exist. To prove to himself that there was a reason.

And then one day, that proof came in the form of a construct.

Looking like a cross between a skeleton, a puppet, and the moon, the being instantly terrified Ren, his knees giving out from the shock. However, despite his fear, he felt a confusing urge to reach out to it. And so, going against his better judgement, he introduced himself to the construct. Upon hearing his name, the construct actually seemed confused, and before Ren could decide to take the opportunity to run, it did something he never expected, asking him to form a contract with it. Ren had heard of the way constructs sustain themselves, either forming a contract with a human or hunting them down. If this one was asking for a contract, then at least that meant it probably wasn't going to try to eat him, or do whatever it was they did to humans. However, he couldn't for the life of him understand why this being would want to connect itself to someone like him. Hell, even if it didn't know him well enough to know he was such a loser, it seemed like something you would be able to pick up pretty quick.

And then it promised to tell him about his father if he formed the contract, and let it show him how strong he could really be.

And, well, that was something he just couldn't turn down...

Magic:
Ren has a limited control over air and wind. It isn't particularly powerful enough to use as an attack, mostly being used to enhance his speed and mobility. When paired with Lun however, it can greatly enhance the speed with which he flies, as well as the floating speed of his constructs.

Despite his unnerving appearance, Lun is the kind of person who does whatever he can to be friendly and kind to those around him. If he see's someone having a hard time, he'll go out of his way to try and cheer them up, even if he can be a bit awkward about it. Ultimately, he just wants to help people out, and has been known to straight up ignore orders he has been given if he feels like it will cause unnecessary misery for others. The only time he would actively do something that will result in him hurting others is if he knows it's absolutely necessary, and even then, it'll tear him up inside.

That being said, he is rather self conscious, specifically about his appearance. Even though he knows there are plenty of other constructs out there who look far scarier than him, it still hurts a bit whenever he catches sight of his own reflection, or more commonly, when he see's others reactions to it.

Igarashi Keiji couldn't be there when his wife died. He was on the other side of Japan, working odd jobs in the hope that he could send money back to her and their infant son. When he finally got the news, he didn't get much. She was gone. No word on the baby, but it didn't seem likely that he would have survived the attack on his mother. He couldn't understand it though. They were in the city. They were meant to be safe. How was it that a construct could get them there? Drain them of their life force in the bastions of humanity?

By the time he managed to force down his rage, he had already completed his weapon, the being that would help him hunt down the constructs that had killed his family. It was only then, as the construct took form, that he realised what he had truly created. Despite looking kind of horrifying, the way it acted, the way it spoke...

It was his son... Not a baby, of course, but what he'd imagined his son might become when he grew older.

From the start, Keiji couldn't help but treat Lun as if he really were his son. He may never get to see Ren again, but he wouldn't waste this second chance he'd been given. Of course, this didn't stop him from seeking to avenge his wife and original son, and he took up a new life as a hunter of rogue constructs, using Lun's powers to find success time after time. This continued for sixteen years, until he was killed while fighting a construct taking the form of a giant white wolf.

With the last of his strength, Keiji asked Lun to find his wife's grave, as he had always believed that he didn't have the right to visit it, feeling guilty that he wasn't there to try and protect her when she was killed. However, now that he realized he'd never get the chance, he only felt stupid that he left such a dumb reason keep him away. Lun promised he would, and after making sure his creator, his father, had been buried properly, he set off for Shinchi.

The journey was tiring, even by flight, but he eventually made it to the neighboring city. He spent almost a full day searching, but when he eventually found it, he saw a boy standing at the grave. He wasn't sure why, but he almost felt like there was some kind of... something... between the boy and him. He approached the boy and, while clearly terrified by the poor construct, he at least managed to introduce himself. Lun noted with surprise that this boy, Igarashi Renzo, had the same family name as his creator. It wasn't long before he realised what was going on, but even if he hadn't, it was clear that this boy needed a hand in being confident in himself, so he asked if the boy would like to form a contract. Ren was hesitant, naturally, but it didn't take much after Lun told him he would tell the boy as much as he could about his father if he did.

And on that day, Lun met the boy he was, at least on some level, created from.

Abilities:
Outside of the normal physical enhancements that most constructs have, Lun has two primary abilities. The first is his ability to control gravity in relation to himself, allowing him to float around with ease, sometimes even reaching incredible speeds if the need arises. The second skill is his ability to create hard-light replicas of any object he has seen before, along with telekinetic control over them. This is usually limited to melee weapons, although he can create many other forms if he feels the need, such as orb-like projectiles he unleashes en masse, or even large, mechanical-looking limbs. Occasionally, if the mood strikes him and he isn't feeling quite as down about his own appearance, he will replace his projectile orbs with replications of his own head, because he thinks it's funny and youcan'tstophim.

Ok cool. And yeah, I'm actually super glad you didn't start, because I didn't really get a chance to do anything today, and I'm probably going to pretty much redo my entire construct now. Next backstory for it, even more melodramatic! Look forward to it!

Ok, that actually makes things a lot clearer, so I'm getting to work again now. That being said, I've just realised that given the setting, I've missed what should've immediately come to mind for the construct, and I'm probably gonna give him a complete overhaul. I really hope you weren't planning to use Emil from Nier for yours though, because I'm probably gonna use him.

Hmmm... Ok, new plan. Well, newish plan. Basically, Diz is still a scarf, but he doesn't have humanoid forms. Instead though, he turns into basically any kind of weapon. He can float around independently of his wielder like one of those dancing blades from fantasy and junk, but when he's being held by his contractor, his fibres, which are some kind of crazy eldritch super hard thread instead of normal fabric, can burrow through the contractors hand and spread through the body, drastically increasing their physical abilities while they're connected. If the threads burrow through enough, or simply wrap around the outside, it can cover the wielders body to become kind of like a uniform, so I can still keep the magical girl style transformations. Also, he can produce red and black energy beams, for the magical girl style attacks.

I wanna make Ren a magical boy.

Maybe I'll have him learn how to make more complicated energy-based attacks, or maybe even fibre-based attacks. I'll admit I don't really know what I should be doing, because I'm usually told I make my characters too overpowered rather than underpowered.

Ok... In my defence, the edgy thing was just meant to be a joke from me, mostly stemming from you mentioning Coldsteel. And yeah, don't worry about the melodrama, that isn't how I normally write either. I just kinda started off with it and realised I was in too deep too late.

Anyway, the original idea was to give Diz a kind of black and red energy blast that combined with Ren's wind to use cool anime sword beams, or fire out projectiles when he punches like Asura from Asura's Wrath in humanoid form. Mostly because I based his humanoid form on Berserker Asura. As in I stole a picture of him. Anyway, if I added that back in, would that make him seem different enough?
