Being truly on my own is a bit of a weird feeling. It's never really happened.

Let it never be said that sometimes extreme brevity isn't the most appropriate post, though. Everything is a tool.

@Raineh DazeThat's if you're going by the game's set path and limited options of dialogue. Shivani is a Khajiit. Khajiit are usually known for their "honeyed words". I'm pretty sure she could find a more favorable way to getting the ring.

@PKMNB0YIf she were to use any of her OP powers, it would be with good reason. She probably won't need to use them and she's not a show-off.

You marked them as canon in the CS. So I'm going by the canon quest dialogues (and ignoring the insanely remote possibility of talking godlike beings into handing you their artefacts for free), which entails doing numerous horrific things to get various objects of questionable utility. Hell, the Ebony Blade is specifically called out for driving you insane.

Tech that he could understand and not be suspicious of, and decked in equipment that would make it seem like this person doesn't want to fight him.

You don't go off recruiting people by advancing on them, wearing full battle armor. Treat the scared primitive working on a hair trigger like a scared primitive working on a hair trigger.

I made no assumption of 'tech' and 'battle ready'. "Not magician" is what I meant. :P
I'm not quite sure if Guts would be able to tell the difference between, say, a laser rifle and a funny-shaped magic wand. In fact, I'm not quite sure why any characters that come from pre-industrial societies are taking these seemingly-impossible marvels of human technology as "oh, it's just technology and not magical at all".

So... tech and NOT obviously bedecked in random items?
<Snipped quote by Raineh Daze>

There's a saying that any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.

Well, if they're not obviously a magic user and don't start with saying they're following him, that's most of the way to getting a proper explanation, isn't it?

<Snipped quote by Raineh Daze>

The only way I could see Mokou helping the situation is if it gets to the worst possible point and Guts needs to be incapacitated. Beyond that, I'd wager a guess that someone using super-tech would be seen as a sorcerer by anyone with only a medieval level of technological knowledge. Clarke's Third Law is very much in effect for primitive peoples.

Simply not making it worse and getting to introduce the character to the RP is achievable.
I would still not recommend placing Mokou in the situation with Guts. Knowing Mokou, anything she does is liable to worsen the situation and sour any interaction between Guts and the UMMA.

Eh, I disagree. Especially if the first encounter never happened and we get a tech NPC instead.
<Snipped quote by Raineh Daze>

I think that sending in another magic person after establishing Guts' distrust of magic is not a step away from the worst case scenario.

Well, you don't know she's magic until either: A) later on, or B) worst case scenario.
<Snipped quote by Raineh Daze>

So the solution to an uneducated traumatized medieval guy who hates monsters attacking a magic recruiter for an organization he doesn't know about, is to send in an immortal bullet hell boss just in case he becomes aggressive again because the next recruiter did the exact same thing wrong?

Well, given that things are more being revised so that didn't happen, it's more 'so I have somewhere to put the character', with the benefit of ALSO covering the worst case scenario.
<Snipped quote by IncredibleBee>

She's immortal, so death is only an inconvenience. Unless his sword can cut through 'I cannot permanently die' magic.

Given how it functions, even that wouldn't work.

Though I can think of half a dozen ways to defeat her without a war of attrition, no problem. XD
<Snipped quote by IncredibleBee>

Well, what I see is that the idea seems to be that Mokou will distract/hold down/beat Guts while Vita's NPC tries to recruit them both. Understandably, Mokou is likely to accept (because she has no IC reason to be suspicious of other people), while Guts will either accept or be brought over anyway and locked in a cell until he accepts.

More or less, she'd just be an obstacle if things did go wrong again, hopefully giving the NPC time to stop the attempted murder. Which hopefully they wouldn't. If not, Guts actually gets to interact with someone that has as much clue of what's going on as he does.

Do you think cutting Mokou in half counts as murder or assault?
I have no idea what sort of logic you're trying to use there to argue against 'having to go through someone else would making getting to an NPC harder'.

... and she's far from the most trigger-happy. @_@

This, pretty much. You can't just brute force Guts into doing what you want.

I have no idea where you're getting this impression.
