Being truly on my own is a bit of a weird feeling. It's never really happened.

Let it never be said that sometimes extreme brevity isn't the most appropriate post, though. Everything is a tool.

Kohinata Miku

Being engulfed along with Hibiki wasn't the agonising death or endless insect assault that Miku would have expected after the attempt to free her friend backfired horribly. It was just bland and at least less hectic than the fighting outside had been, though there was no clear way out of their temporary confinement.

Then the more experienced girl decided to blame herself for something that couldn't possibly have been foreseen; since when had anything survived getting punched like that? Without giving a chance for Miku to say anything, the hot-blooded girl had decided to make up for it in the same way as always... even though there was a good chance of getting chewed out for being reckless to make up for being reckless again.

Having taken Hibiki's hand, Miku was likewise free from Arakune's imprisonment, though not on the other side of the room: using the Shenshou Jing, Miku had come to a halt far sooner, and thrust the club-fan-gun back at their bizarre captor for a point-blank shot. Maybe, if it wasn't going to be destroyed by blunt force, it could be incapacitated somehow. Otherwise they were going to have difficulty getting anywhere in this place without it being known immediately.
Did... did the military guys just walk off leaving us in the middle of a compound with no idea where to go in it? xD
For a second I thought there was gonna be 3 competitions for captain 11. :O

We have a competition for Squad 11's lieutenant. Captain is apparently still undesired. :p
I've been wanting to do a kido-focused captain for a while. Well, more like 'what if you had a kido specialist with an attitude and physique like Kenpachi'. xD
@Blackbeard What do you mean exactly by no silliness? Between Captain Furry, Charlotte Cuulhorne, Nnoitra's spoon outfit, Butterflaizen (and Aizen's mullet), that one guy whose resureccion looks like a pumpkin, Kyoraku's shikai being 'play children's games', and every other weird piece of character design, there's certainly a lot of seemingly absurd stuff going around in canon.

Ah, yeah I have seen this happen before as well. Often some easy measures of certain skills (in bleach: Hoho, Hakuda(hand to hand combat) Zanpakuto(ability to wield it, rather than its abilities), reiatsu/reiryoku, and Kido tend to help with that a lot.

Having a measuring stick that's the same for everyone helps figure out who is good at what and assist in making sure that someone who has better swordsmanship than someone else wins in a sword clash (barring special circumstances and tactics) helps. That way you can objectively go “Oh, your character is faster than mine, alright, so I won't be blitzing them or vanishing from sight unless it's an ability or I trick them with clever footwork and obstacles.” Etc etc etc. So on and so forth.

... at which point you're working out the outcome beforehand anyway. :P
I've always gotten more bored having to take fights seriously, especially as half the time it turns into someone churning out a wall of text trying to cover the next several moves in a fight that reads something like:

Do X
If X Succeeds, Do Y
If Y Succeeds, Do Z else Do A
Else Do Z a different way OR A

With so many conditions that it's never clear what the hell is going on and replying posts have to navigate a damn flowchart and then end up looking the same... whilst being an unreadable rat's nest that has gone from past tense to various forms of future.

If you know who's going to win, then you can focus on making it... well, readable. And have both players working towards the same outcome rather than two different victories. It's not hard to work together.
@Raineh Daze@Marrow

As long as they put the english translation in parenthesis somewhere in the same area code, I see no problem with it.
plus google translate is a thing...

... my point was that a post should be readable without needing to consult a dictionary for a translation. Once you get out of the realm of proper nouns, you're increasingly likely to be introducing baseless assumptions about how lazy the translation someone read was. :T

I remember far too many occasions with Ranma 1/2 stuff that inexplicably assumed that the reader knows the Japanese word for fiancée. For no good reason.
And this is why BlazBlue is being split a little. xD
<Snipped quote by Rin>

I could do that, however i prefer the Japanese titles, as well as the release word for my Shikai
"Bunkatsu, Hari"

And using Japanese for verbs and (non-proper) nouns makes posts unreadable for anyone that's used to... well, translations. I think rule number one (after rule zero: the GM has final authority) of roleplaying is "if you need a dictionary, you're doing it wrong". Provided that you're fluent in the language in question, of course.

... that, and there's the whole question of 'consistency'. Unless everyone does it, "I'm going to use a different language because I like it" is kinda selfish, don't you think? Just makes things harder to read. :/
