Being truly on my own is a bit of a weird feeling. It's never really happened.

Let it never be said that sometimes extreme brevity isn't the most appropriate post, though. Everything is a tool.

I wonder if Julianna is overthinking other peoples' actions? xD
@Polaris North So it wasn't two days ago. Picking themed names was daunting.
Tachibana Kaede

"Not five, eight. There's myself, then Ren, Sakura, Kyou, Aoi, Kiku, Ayame, and Tsubaki," the redhead corrected, perfectly aware of how absurdly large her family was in modern Japan, "Ren and Sakura are twins and so are Ayame and Tsubaki. I'm glad there's not going to be any more, else my mother would run out of plants to name us after."

There was a definite theme with her family's names--not only could they be written as plants, they all were. Her mother seemed far too interested in gardens to be healthy.

"Ren and Sakura would come here right now if they could and force me to retire from taking part in anything risky. I'm glad I'll graduate before then, since they won't leave class to find me after the Creatures of Samhain video," Kaede said, not really worried because at least this way they could defend themselves. The video was shown quite early into first year, compiling the rare video footage of something from the other side of the gate.

She found that quite odd to watch, since a large part of it--and the most recent--involved her arms.
But pikes are very long and people quite heavy, on top of having no obvious strong or weak points. You're basically making a lever where the fulcrum is near your hands and all the weight's at the other end. They're also not hugely thick or intended to have pressure like that.
I was thinking that might snap.
Swords: the best way to make human kebab.
Tyaethe's choice to act as a vanguard was vindicated when a lone bandit, already barely involved in the fighting, attempted to turn tail and run. Had he been a bit closer to the rest of his downed fellows, it would have been the ice that caught him. He was instead run through by the blade of a massive sword and carried by the undead knight towards the main group.

One bandit was actually displaying a surprising amount of resilience, desperately engaging a knight and surprisingly not dying. This lasted all of a second before a heavily booted foot slammed into his back with a disturbing crack and the knight took full advantage of the opening to finish him as Tyaethe moved back to the captain's side.

As if her initial bisection of the ambush's leader wasn't alarming enough, her sword still had the mortally wounded man impaled on its length and, barely, conscious. The heavily-armoured knight didn't particularly care how gruesome her method of transport was as long as it kept the man alive for a precious few seconds more so that he could (hopefully) answer a single question. Lowering her blade so his feet rested on the ground, she growled, "Are there any more ambushes?"

The direction of attempted retreat showed them the way to go and they just needed to know if there was going to be another 'surprise' attack before they got to the bandit 'king' and maybe a harder fight. Something to test the newcomers more and give them a taste of real fear.
I've been reading through the IC/OOC and i find this RP interesting :) I wonder if one can only play as a Swordsman. Can we create characters that use ranged/blunt etc weapons?

Yes.
Some people are trying to be all sagacious and comment on what true tactics are.

Meanwhile Katrina's in the corner being all "Kill kill kill!"

Tyaethe agrees with that sentiment. Well, she's more "RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH" right now, but the idea's there.
Julianna was the worst as far as Garrett could tell; the others were just inexperienced or naive and didn’t understand how things worked.

Can we add an option for 'absurdly reckless'? xD
