Being truly on my own is a bit of a weird feeling. It's never really happened.

Let it never be said that sometimes extreme brevity isn't the most appropriate post, though. Everything is a tool.

Hello.
Yes.
Oda Nobunaga

Although she had started out more or less leading the way for her Master, Archer had stepped off the track a handful of times to do basic reconnaissance... though all this confirmed was that yes, this was farmland, and not particularly interesting farmland at that. There was a bit of varying elevation between the rice paddies, but not somewhere she would really want to defend; most Servants wouldn't be remotely troubled by such a thing.

One of these brief breaks from her Master meant returning to an interesting site. Oh, one of the figures was holding a matchlock--that was definitely an out of place choice for a modern country, but she wasn't one to complain--but behind them was a shock of vibrantly blonde hair and an unmistakeable presence...

Her initial greeting, from somewhere off the road, came by way of the unmistakeable sound of a gun: one matchlock, whipped out of thin air and fired sailing above the duo's heads, only to melt back out of existence now that attention was firmly in her direction. "Monkey! I guess if anyone else was going to be summoned, it would be you."

The short girl continued hopping from field to field, approaching the road with remarkable speed--to a normal person, that is. "You're looking really shabby, though. Where's that ridiculous helmet you picked up after I was gone? Or even some armour at all? I don't think Chacha could spend everything even after we're all dead..."

Nero's pairing with Erika and Charname with Nightingale.
  • Name: Charname Avilone
  • Age: 24
  • Gender: Female
  • Appearance: Beware the quiet ones. The glasses are, in fact, normal glasses… though given the nature of her employment, blocking mystic eyes also became a necessary backup.
  • Personality: Charname isn’t a terribly confident person in some regards, particularly not socially, but nor is she excessively shy. In the end, though, she would be happier in the stressful situations that most people avoid, where her skills and upbringing are of more use—rather than having to make conversation over things that simply don’t matter.
Her opinion on maids is a conflicted one. On the one hand, she likes the look and would join Erika in appreciating them… on the other hand, she very much does not like being dressed as a maid and wishes she could have some more intimidating attire. This might explain why she stands up to her boss where she would silently accept other people.
  • Skills: Despite her employment, Charname lacks the abilities of a maid. Cleaning? An excellent way to get something broken or parts overlooked. Cooking? She can determine if your food has been tampered with but not actually cook something herself, in which case poison is the expected result. The real bulk of her skills are hand-to-hand skills, with a particular focus on knives as both useful where magecraft is concerned and simply for dealing with threats, but experience with other weapons as well. Quite unbecoming for a magus, she doesn’t scorn the use of firearms—depending on the situation, quite anything could be of use.
  • Abilities: Despite their lack of interest in the conceptual possibilities of magecraft, the Avilone have had through the generations a strong desire to perfect the practical use of such things for their own needs. For instance, their approach towards Bounded Fields is peculiar; rather than focus on grand defences and territory, it is one of “what is most useful on the individual scale”. For instance, what is the distinction between delineating inside and outside on clothing rather than buildings? Even in part, buildings will move, and that within them switch about. A narrow loophole that, through sheer pedantry, allowed for establishing bounded fields on their attire. In Charname’s case, this gives her deep pockets. Very deep pockets; every implement or weapon that she feels might be reasonably useful on her person, at once.
Her preference for using knives follows a similar route, a brief field established by carving runes is an excellent emergency barrier, or trap. Of course, even the non-bounded field uses are useful… as are rune-based curses like Gandr.
Given the amount of armament both physical and metaphysical that Charname carries, it should be no surprise that part of her contract—one not even necessarily stated to her owner—includes a particular geas: if she should need to give her life then it will be done, regardless of her possible thoughts on the matter. For this reason, self-sacrificial techniques are also within her abilities.
  • Brief Backstory: The Avilone family is one with no interest in reaching the Root, no grand history or lineage to draw on. They are a lineage who took one look at the wealthy, established magus families and came to the conclusion: the best way to prosper is to attach ourselves to them. Thus, for generations the main line has itself provided protection to the Maidandora and trained their heir as such. That which would not be of use in their chosen role and hangers-on to luxury was ignored.
The demand that she be employed as a maid was quite the insult to Charname’s pride, even if there was no escaping the requirement.

Tyaethe Radistirin

Oh-ho, that was interesting, some sort of charge effect on the weapon? Was it something she could overpower? This was what she wanted, the Barukstaedian to put his full force in and find out that it still wasn't enough. Exciting and... well, the Vos Korvungaard were all long dead but it was still fun to relive parts of that battle. Not the cavalry charge, but the mopping up...

Unfortunately... well, for her, not for their overall goal, Maritza had returned to help, slamming into the man and locking him in place. That was what she got from playing with her food, though... maybe she should have finished him earlier. Regardless, recovering from her impromptu leap out of the way, Tyaethe adjusted her grasp on the sword to place her hand up the ricasso. If that armour was magic, it would be pointless to try and smash through it in a reasonable time and with him effectively held in place, she just needed to line it up and...

One thrust later, and the weighty sword was thrust through the exposed armpit and into his chest, ending any chance he had of fighting back... or surviving beyond the next few seconds.

"Is someone talking about vampires...?"
Oda Nobunaga

"Knowing the lay of the land is vitally important... why, know it well enough, and you can attack a force ten times your size and come out victorious!" the short archer cheerfully said... marching right out of the door and leaving Haru to catch up. She should probably check out the farmland first and see where might be a good place to attack from or... defend. Defend, probably, depending on what riders might be here. If Takeda showed up, then recreating Nagashino would definitely need a good scope of the land...

She could go explore the town later and try to get dinner off of Haru. That seemed like a good plan.
I just noticed that your title thingy is the Japanese name. xD
Kaguya-Hime

Having to pull back to avoid having her head cut off--it probably wouldn't kill her, even in this state, but it wasn't wise to try--meant that there was nothing much she could do about the man or his captive. Instead, it was her against... oh, this was interesting, very interesting. Were those bladeds coming from her arms?

"I think I might have to seek you and your Master out in future," the princess said, eyes lighting up. A fully-functional robot ninja? Well, that was just wonderful, the sort of thing she would love to collect, or to try and understand. It was just such a shame that said ninja was trying to slice and dice, and her unarmed abilities weren't amazing. Adequate, one might say, but not amazing.

Though the hesitancy in the ninja's actions gave a perfect opening, particularly with her agility not being so much better than the "alien's" own. She could have done it some other way, but this made it just that bit more likely and so much less effort for Kaguya: stepping in, past the blade and forcing the ninja's arm up, an interesting piece of raised metal and wood. Some sort of lightning rod, one could say.

For the exact bolt of lightning that the Caster had just caused.

Saotome Hana

"D-Don't I get a say in this?" Hana asked. Her servant, the other Servant, this guy... all this conspiring to get her to do things was why she spent so much time inside anyway. Watching TV was cheap and easy to do and so much more stress free. Now they wanted her to spend on games and everything...? What if she needed that money for something important! Like not working!
