It’s none of my business what people say of me and think of me. I am what I am and I do what I do. I expect nothing and accept everything. And it makes life so much easier.

“There is no such thing as a new idea. It is impossible. We simply take a lot of old ideas and put them into a sort of mental kaleidoscope. We give them a turn and they make new and curious combinations. We keep on turning and making new combinations indefinitely; but they are the same old pieces of colored glass that have been in use through all the ages.”

I'm pretty sure a toddler could smell his bullshit at that moment. Vin hasn't exactly been at the top of his game as of late so anything's possible. Also, I more or less eluded to Abbey doing just that ;)
“Nate, you’re an asshole, a ballsy one, but still an asshole...”

Vin said in a hushed voiced, not wanting to wake anyone else in the area, but also making sure Nate knew he wouldn’t be forgotten if perhaps both him and Eli were forever lost in the abandoned mine shaft. These kinds of things happen no doubt, and a sudden collapsing support beam could prove disastrous in itself, whereby creating a domino effect that would take down the entire site. He knew it was going to take some time to adapt to his new surroundings, being out in the middle of nowhere wasn’t his first choice of getaways, but he apparently had little choice in the matter. Actually, “option B” would have been him probably dead with a bullet in his brain. So in retrospect, things were looking up for him. He was still alive.

“Better that we stay out here, yeah?” He smirked, wrapping his arm around Jennifer’s shoulders. “You know, in case little Eric over there get’s scared.” Vincent looked over his shoulder and was about to shoot Eric a mocking wink when he noticed dim headlights up the road slowly moving toward them. His eyes suddenly went in every direction, making sure there weren’t any other surprise visitors.

“Shit, we have company.”

He squinted his eyes, trying to focus on the vehicle that stopped a few yards away from their position, and could only make out that it was -not surprisingly- a pickup truck. Vin took a step back, keeping Jennifer behind him and his hand firming clenched to hers, he wasn’t sure what to do at this point. He motioned to Eric, hoping that the kid would move back a few paces, but no doubt this type situation was the norm for someone who lived around this area, as it didn’t seem to phase him. Before Vin even had a chance to say anything however, the driver leaned through the open window and yelled out the same question that was probably on everyone’s mind anyway. Lucky for Vincent, he didn’t have to ask it first.

He turned to Jennifer with an expression of uncertainty and fear, but shook it off as best he could. “Let me go find out what this dude wants.” He whispered, looking back at the mine shaft entrance in hopes that Nate and Eli would come out soon, before walking toward the truck, the engine still running and pushing out swirls of exhaust and burning oil as it idled.

Vincent hesitantly moved around to the driver’s side and noticed the older, heavy set man with graying hair, wearing a flannel shirt, assuming he had been the one speaking. “Nice ride.” Vincent finally said after a brief pause, surveying the rust and dents that made up a good portion of the exterior. “I think Fred Sanford is looking for his truck, by the way.” He seriously wanted to bust out laughing at such an archaic joke, to ease his own nervousness with the situation if anything, but instead he cracked a smile, and a half-hearted one at that. Just as the breeze shifted in the other direction, his nose suddenly scrunched up. “And what in the hell is that smell coming from in-” Vin cut himself off, realizing he doesn’t have to always say what he’s thinking and knowing his mouth caused him more trouble than it was worth.

“Sorry. No offense. Just chalk it up to lack of sleep, fucked up nightmares, and reduced to eating something resembling cold food out of a plastic bag.”

He looked passed the driver and noticed a young thin girl in the passenger seat staring at him with more suspicion that he had bothered to muster up. Her eyes caught what little light there was, but they almost appeared to glisten momentarily. Vin arched an eyebrow, wondering just what the hell a little white girl and an older greasy-looking fellow would be doing out in this part of town at this hour. But he also knew, of course, their group looked just as out of place, if not more.

“So...my wife and I were passing by and figured we’d do a bit of sightseeing, you know...out here...where there’s lots to see…” Vin cocked his head, never being a very good liar at times, and knowing these two were probably not going to believe any of the shit he’d try to conjure up, he went down a different path.

Look, I’m pretty sure you guys aren’t here by mere coincidence, and that woman over there...” Vin pointed toward where Jennifer was standing, giving her a reassuring wave and smile. “Well, you see, she’s what you would call a ‘panophobiac’, scared shitless of everything, and doesn’t really need an incident, if you know what I mean. But just so you know, we aren’t here to harm anyone if that’s what you think, and I’m -I mean- she’s hoping that you’re intentions are...well...honorable, yeah?” He let his words drift, hoping that the two in the truck were reasonable enough not to kick up any more of a shitstorm than was already brewing.

Vincent couldn’t help but glance back at the younger girl, whose expression seemed more annoyed than concerned, causing him to still feel a bit unhinged with the unusual meet taking place. He honestly didn’t know what to tell them, but he definitely wasn’t going to reveal where the other two companions were. What if he needed them now, and giving their position away would mean the end? Vincent just hoped that he could turn the conversation back on them, since maybe they had a better answer.

“So, what brings you two out here on this fine morning?”

Great intro folks! And don't worry about the post lengths, we've all had "walls of text" o' plenty.

I'll have a post up this morning in response to your arrival.

And welcome to the group :)
Well as much as I appreciate sarcasm, it wasn't necessary this time...

We've had an influx of new people and I think part of the lag in posting for the rest of us has been making sure 1.) Just which new people are sticking around to post, and 2.) making sure they are up to speed so they can post.

My concern was posting over other people without giving them a fair chance, and I only made the "WTF" comment because there seemed to have been some confusion with others.

In any case lets regroup and continue some awesome posts, because we've come too far into this story to fall apart over miscommunication.
I feel I should note that if there's a posting order coming up me and Biscuits will bail on this RP...we really, really hate posting orders. They're the slow death of an RP.

Agreed. I only threw it out there as an option, but I'd rather not go that route.

And there isn't really a "lack" of IC posts as much as there may be an indecisiveness of who is posting. We've had a good run so far, and have tried to keep each post to a minimum of 2 post/day to allow others to catch up, but at this point I say whoever wants to post go ahead.

Ok folks, I closed this RP a few days ago because leaving it open had story suicide written all over it (pun intended), so for the following people I need to know where you stand, is your CS ready to post on the appropriate tab, and are you ready to post your intro?:

I sense a disturbance in the force, and it wasn't the protein shake I just downed a few minutes ago, but rather a "WTF now?" within the ranks. If we need to do a posting order then so be it, but let me know where you guys stand in the meantime.

Sorry for the delayed posting, been a busy few days...

Oh, and for what my opinions worth, I much rather liked your previous avatar.
“Code Red! Southeast quadrant, extreme hostile situa-”

The frantic voice on the other end of the radio had been cut off, and what sounded like the vicious snarling of a wild animal filled what was left of the momentary open channel before it went to static and then silence.

Her scent was strong, like that of a distressed creature calling out for help to it’s mate, Zvikas had no problems following Kelly’s trail left behind from the basement level and heading up and out toward the courtyard. A grim expression formed on his face as he thought about the newest discovery. On the one hand, there was excitement, and the great possibilities of learning more about such a supernatural being, as well as it’s origins. However, he’d also wondered if this marked the time of a resurgence amongst the werewolf population, a rebirthing perhaps of a new generation risen from the ashes of their destruction almost two hundred years ago. Had they been hidden from the prying eyes of the Hunters all that time, or has the Veil -the blinders pulled over the minds of humans to hide the existence of the supernatural- been lifted? What did this mean for his kind as well?

As he opened the door heading out to the courtyard, his eyes immediately gazed at the sky, high above the treeline in the distance, as the light from the early morning sun began its ascent.

“Damn, where has the time gone…” He whispered to himself, a hint of anger underlying his otherwise calm demeanor. Several gunshots were heard in the distance from the guards stationed in the towers at each corner of the perimeter fence.

“Do not directly engage! I repeat do not directly engage.” Doctor Zvikas’ voice was just above normal levels, but still even toned and in control as he spoke into the radio. “Tranquilizers only.”

Ahead, along the fence line, he could see the newly birthed beast, it’s white fur a stark contrast against the darkened forest beyond the gates. The creature was hit a few times, but Zvikas new a mere bullet would only stun a creature such as that for a moment before accelerated healing closed up any fatal wounds. No, he knew what would cause real harm to a werewolf, but he wasn’t prepared to take such extreme measures so soon, not when there was still much more to understand. He walked up to where the courtyard ended and the long stretch of green field started, keeping his eyes on the beast, just as he now noticed the beast focused on him. Zvikas had been a master at hiding his secret from the mortal world for longer than he can remember, yet he knew that another creature of supernatural existence would most likely see past that which he worked so hard to bury away. There was always something different -almost too perfect- about the doctor, but it was anyone’s guess what that may have been.

Kelly’s bloodied clawed hand held onto the thick chain linked fence as she rose to her powerful hind legs, recovering from the few bullets that seemed more a nuisance than any real threat. Her eyes scanned the area; the two guards bloodied and dismembered remains lay at her feet, and the heat signatures of several other guards off in the distance with rifles pointed directly at her. Her head snapped from side to side as she searched for quick egress, and that was when she noticed him. The unarmed doctor simply stood there from across the field, and the beast within Kelly erupted with a combination of curiosity and rage as it bolted across the wet grass, running on all four legs, until it reached within only a few meters of where Zvikas was standing. The doctor was unmoved while a smile formed across his lips, admiring the massive stature and brute power that emanated from the creature in front of him.

The human side of the woman wanted to lash out at the doctor, feeling betrayed by someone she thought she could trust, yet all the theatrics were nothing more than a means to an end. The food, the drink, the compliments, and a situation that appeared too good to be authentic. Why did she allow those primal instincts to cloud her better judgement. It didn't matter then, all things considered, as the beast was more than she could handle and had no other choice than to cower under the weight of its will. But why couldn't the beast of pure rage and strength move any further?

Zvikas stood, cocking his head slightly as he looked into the creature's glowing eyes, responding with his own eyes illuminating a dim amber color and a single whispered word leaving his lips.

“Peace.”

That was it. Kelly wanted nothing more than to run at this point as her own anger turned to fear. Fear of the unknown. She didn't know who or what Zvikas was, but the hold he had on her mind -the beast’s mind- was too much. It was a mental restraint holding both her and the creature at bay. She pushed, not against the will of her beast but against the will of the doctor. Pushed until at last she felt the opening she needed and the creature within knew this, as they both leapt at the man before them with rage in their eyes.

Zvikas quickly and gracefully sidestepped the attack, causing the beast to fly past and tumble to the ground. A barrage of gunfire erupted immediately following, hitting the beast with several cartridges of tranquilizing agents, causing a loud yelp to come from the wolf.

“I didn't give the order!” The doctor yelled into the radio, this time backed by an anger that hadn't presented itself previously. “Stand down! Now!”

It was too late though, as the jolt by the impact of the projectiles combined with Zvikas being distracted, broke Kelly and her creature’s mind free from the hold as they fled at an unnatural speed toward the fence, and with a last ditch effort to escape, leapt over the ten foot high fence, nearly missing the razor wire coiled at the top. The light peeking through the thick forest ahead had been more of a beacon to her than anything else, as she ran as fast as her strength could carry her not bothering to look back. The massive amount of tranquilizers, however, had begun to take affect as her focus wavered in and out and her speed drastically declined by the toxins streaming within her system.

Doctor Zvikas could only look on as the remaining darkness within the forest swallowed up the werewolf, and the inevitable sunrise reared its hideous presence. He knew he couldn’t follower her, which was only a minor set back at this point, but he also knew she wouldn’t get far east. Either way, the doctor shook his head in disappointment as he headed back into the hospital, aware that he will need to do a lot of story spinning and general damage control regarding the previous incident.

Awesome! Just make sure you have Anna with you...ya know, for reasons.
Unless they have a different approach in mind, @Stitches & @Biscuits characters could be deep in the mines hiding out from whoever they are hiding out from.

Sadly there will be no Anna, but Vin will live.
