Current A kind action means the world, but that doesn't mean kind words are useless. The cruelest thing a person can do in this world is to keep their kindness to themself.

Because they're trying to encourage other people. What, do you think it's 'vain' to tell a friend in the hospital you hope for their speedy recovery?

That said, I won't lie, this is a website of geeks and nerds and I don't know how many of them bother with any sport, much less baseball specifically.

All I needed to hear, have a nice day.

Bio

I live in the EST time zone. Due to work, unless I think it's important not to leave someone hanging, I will be off by 11 PM. I will rarely post daily, but I can at least guarantee I'll never give you a substance-less post.

Jeremiah Dupree

Physical state: Chilled but healthy
Mental state: Somewhat confused

The door had opened. Jeremiah had not touched it, and at first he suspected Emil was leaving. Then he heard footsteps - someone actually approaching the door. A thread out of line with the pattern, not where it was supposed to be to have its best effect. Was now the time? The time to meet Faye Desdemona in person, just himself and Emil? And, incidentally, the time to remind Emil of the consequences he was facing?

The door opened. It was Emil who faced him and, just behind him, a haggard exhausted-looking woman who bore the faintest resemblance to the photographic plate he had seen. It was a surprise but, for now, not one he'd dare react to. She did not need that.

"Professor Dupree..."

Oh the ways to respond. He was silent for a moment, the urge to remind Emil of the consequences should a true doctor come by rattling in his skull. Of course he was annoyed at the deception, to say the least. But those consequences were far more dire, particularly if they ever intended to speak with Faye Desdemona ever again.

"These... circumstances can be addressed later," he finally said. "They waste time we do not have - our presence will surely be missed soon." He stepped into the room, past Emil. "Though I don't suppose we had a 'Jeremy' in our group, did we?" She had requested his presence as well. She had, through means unknown to him, managed to call Emil to her, even risking imprisonment to speak with her. He turned to her, sitting on the bed still. "Hello. It is much better to be on this side of the door to speak with you, if I may so myself." He was not going to feign ignorance or surprise at the implied invitation to speak with a supposed madwoman. He did not like thinking their time was short but, well, it likely was. If no one missed the coat Emil now wore, surely Dr. Atkins would miss the two of them. Professor Dupree did consider himself something of a friend to the fellow teacher, and he had seemed interested in Emil. Their presence would not go missed, no matter the importance of the situation. Worse yet, attempting to explain would result in the two becoming cell mates of the one they now stood face to face with. "I assume you have told Emil what he-" Jeremiah trailed off briefly, considering his options. "-what he may be allowed to know?"

That was well-established. Faye Desdemona knew things, and what she knew did not necessarily need to be known by others, but by happenstance and the threads of the universe it might be learned regardless. But not by her.

First try. That was good, Selene hadn't intended to stay up front for too long. She didn't know this other girl too well, but she seemed nice enough. But now was time to make good on her promise. First thing was reaching into her bag and dropping a handful of the wrapped candies onto Mrs. Wayne's desk. Then, moving between the seats to give everyone else some candy. So many people seemed to desire just hiding behind their backpacks and hoods. Selene offered a smile to each of them along with the sweets. Schools could be scary, but it was always what one made of it.

She paused by two students - the one yesterday who had called them amateurs, and a boy in darker clothing. It seemed like she had interrupted a conversation. She just shook her head, put the candy on their desks, and kept going until she returned to her desk - now the only one without a wrapped caramel on it. Hopefully, no one was allergic or diabetic.
Yeah, you were in first thread, right? Up to Capn, of course though.
I've already seen it and can confirm. Up to telling someone to kill themself.

Dude is not allowed to post here. Do not acknowledge him.
Drac's computer is, as is Ob's motivation. Do those count?
Yo.
@carla6677 I can help. Though, uh - I do want to be nice about this - maybe put your thoughts into one post in OOC too? Because I swear I only stepped away for like 5 minutes. >>;;;;
I have, yup. Got a bit of a playlist going on for Selene c: Feel free to share Amelia's?

(And may, with permission, just put out a very short post because yes Selene's handing out candy)

@masterwriter234 ...I think you must've forgotten her other concerns. Here, I'll remind you.

Second, his history is very lacking, even for the section. And confusing? I also would have preferred you run the whole alternate universe bit by me before including it.

Last, his powers. I get that he has to be touching the stone to use them, but how does the invisibility fit into it? Also, the stones themselves, and the corresponding "kryptonite" stones, are not exactly what I was picturing. Not necessarily in a bad way, but in a kind of... Interesting way? Would you mind explaining more about them, perhaps?

Well. That was embarrassing, to say the least. Sure, she'd never met Amelia before in her life, but it was still embarrassing to be wrong. And extremely concerning. Selene made a mental note to talk to Amelia about Child Protective Services - the people she thought of hiring a 7-year-old were not very good people. But she'd see how everything went first. She could give the number to Amelia and let her decide and, if nothing worsened, then maybe it was best left alone. Of course, though, if Amelia wanted to talk to her about it, she was all ears.

She didn't know too much about this other guy, the one who had guessed rightly. Had the two gone to another middle school together? Or had he just guessed too? Unfortunately, it meant another round of guessing. She tried to look him over for hints - of course, though, all three were sports. Similar builds. Sitting up front, though, had granted her a slightly advantage, even if she couldn't see entirely well. She could, however, notice the pale whitish line on the knee, visible past the shorts he wore. A scar? Alright, thinking. Probably a sports injury, or maybe a nasty fall. Hm. Well, only one was supposed to be a lie. A knee injury might not be good for basketball, but he could still play. Soccer, that could be rough on the legs, and football was rough all over. Might as well flip a coin. She raised her hand, determined to redeem herself.

"Is it soccer you don't play anymore?"

A coin flip, and she'd managed to call it right. She beamed - right, her turn. She picked up her purse and took the few steps from her desk to the front of the room.

"Hello, everyone. My name is Selene Cross." She adjusted her sunglasses' frame a bit. "I know some of you, but not all of you. I'm hoping we'll have a good four years together." A tad cheesy. Best to make up for it. "Anyways, so. I have a boyfriend, I have a doctor's note to wear these-" she tapped the sunglasses, "-indoors, and I brought in caramel candy for everyone in the room. Which one do you think's a lie?" She beamed.
