Well, she'd missed, but... At least someone had managed to catch the assassin. Getting to her feet and dusting down the front of that garish collection of frills her mother had made her wear, she joined the knights who had surrounded the Nem, fully ready to let her have it...

...And then she noticed the scars on her neck, and her inability to speak. Surely, this poor thing had been forced into this... Surely, whoever had done this to her was the true villain, the one truly deserving the fiery wrath that had been boiling inside her since the princess had been attacked.

She couldn't help but roll her eyes as the undead knight tried to get the assassin to write on a napkin. Without wasting a breath, she stomped off to someone who she knew would have something to write with...

Her father.

Naturally, a big event like this filled with nobles was an excellent opportunity for him to negotiate new trade contracts and expand his business. And whilst it was the dwarven way to inscribe such agreements upon stone or metal (thus creating a lasting, binding contract)... Well, Thaln wasn't exactly dwarvish lands, and sometimes even the most traditionalist of races had to compromise. After a short exchange with him, Martina soon returned to the Nem, slamming a roll of parchment, a quill and an ink well in front of the diminuitive assassin.

"If you can write, write." The scowl etched across her face burned with barely contained fury. "Tell us who did this to you, who made you go after the princess, and we assure you... Our vengeance shall be swift and merciless."

She couldn't help but turn a bit pale. She... She wanted to go after the onryo? But those were... They were all creepy and horrifying and crawled out of televisions to give you magical smallpox! And she really, really didn't want to catch magical smallpox! Besides, ghosts were just... She was a youkai and even she thought they were a bit too much!

"Eh... Eheh um... So the, um... The onyro, um, uh..." Unconsciously, Yuina found herself clinging ever so tighter to Makiko, as her lips forced themselves into a rictus grin. "S-sure! That sounds... That sounds f-fine with me, yeah! Definitely... D-definitely no problem there nope not at all!" Ohgodohgodwhyyyyyy.

@harinezumikoukenLike I said, good concepts and ideas, not so great on the execution front. The whole "trapped in an MMO" thing is better done by .hack// and Log Horizon anyways. XD

@chukklehedHer entire characterization is literally just "Kirito's perfect waifu", really. So of course the Bland Swordsman would attract the blandest girl.

...Anyways, um. Speaking of better anime, I rewatched Slayers not that long ago, which might have been what pushed me to really try and get something worked out for this. XD

@harinezumikoukenAsuna is one of the blandest characters I have ever read. ^^; Then again I only ever read the first two SAO novels before deciding that it had good concepts and ideas but the execution was... Flawed, basically. ^^;

Also I refer to Kirito as "The Bland Swordsman" so that his title doesn't get mixed up with the true Black Swordsman. :D

@Raineh DazeOne of these days I will need to actually finish Negima I guess, but... I dunno, can't work up the effort seeing the circumstances in which it ended and all. :(
