Current I'm a pretty good writer and former site staff; I still deal with imposter syndrome every time I log on. You're definitely not alone. And t's worth trying anyway.

I just finished The Secret History, a very Gen X book. Never Let Me Go before that, which I'd recommend to any writer outside the MFA atmosphere who wants to know emotonal restraint.

No huge rush.
Character: Zatanna Zatara Age: 24 Appearance: Powers/Abilities: As a member of the Hidden Ones, Zatanna is genetically gifted with great magical talent on a largely intuitive level. Even Big Z doesn't know her own limits, though she admits once one realizes they can alter reality, finding a true 'limit' might just be asking for it. The vast majority of her magic comes as verbal spells; simply magical commands spoken backwards, as a nod to an old stage trick of her father's. Weaknesses: Anything that inhibits consciousness. Backstory/orgins: Zatanna Zatara had a happy childhood. Even after her mother died, her father gave his only daughter a magical upbringing filled with adventures and travels and miracles most people would never get to see in their entire life. Then one night it would all be over. The father gone from a Parisian hotel room without a trace; a bitter irony for the great escapist's daughter. Though famous, John Zatara's fortunes had always been modest at best. His great treasure, the stage magician and adventurer was so fond of saying, was her. But now all that remained to her was what possessions she had with her then, her wits, and every lesson her father had ever taught her. And her magic. Parisian police never could explain how they lost the famous magician's daughter, or what became of her. They would look, but the thirteen year old girl was determined to find answers, and no mortal law enforcement officer could assist her in that. Only get in the way. It would take well over a decade of traveling and learning and adventuring, but eventually Zatanna would find the witch Allura, and confront the woman who had cursed her father and interrupted Zatanna's life at such a young age. Combat was fierce and physical, but in the end it was Zatanna who'd survived it, and then only with magical assistance from her mother. It was that assistance that would lead to her mother's punishment from the Hidden Ones, her original crime of giving birth to a halfling having been overlooked on the promise of good behavior. When the herald of the Hidden Ones informed Zatanna should return to the Hidden One's city, she declined out of hand. When the herald informed Zatanna her mother's case 'could be' greatly helped should Zatanna herself return to the Hidden One's city and submit to her natural place in their sacred society, Zatanna become even more determined not to go, find her father, and then find another way to help her mother. Step one? Moving to Gotham City, the last place her father was reportedly seen. Arc ideas: Southern Comfort - Zatanna rushes down to the southern gulf coast to see an associate about magical items 'lost' during a recent super-sized hurricane. Just finding food and water becomes hard enough, but when the lost items appear in the hands of a self proclaimed Voodoo God even an assist from an old friend fresh from the swamps may not be enough to save the day. Chicken Soup for the Magical Soul - Big Z makes the biggest purchase of her life in Gotham City, and immediately comes down with a terrible cold. It isn't long before coincidence goes out the window, connecting her ever increasing illness to her recent purchase. Can she even make it to her next dose of cold meds, let alone unravel the mystery in time? Chicken or Beef? - A nice date with a nicer guy is interrupted when what appears to be a monstrous oriental styled Demon rips through the Korean BBQ restaurant, and the date taking place there. Able to save the guy and innocents, but not the date, Zatanna becomes determined to find an explanation. But sometimes explanations don't come easy, and the very act of seeking can come at a terrible price.
Are we missing someone? Konica wanna get one more post in?
So I have horrible news guys, my computer has died. The old girl served me well but she's gone. I won't be able to get a new one until Friday, so I won't be able to finish the episode. @Ruby will have to take over and wrap things up.
So sorry to hear. =( I'll get us past Freeze and into mutants and mayors and monks.
Kinda late, but Happy Valentine's day everyone! By the way, what should we do IC after our characters suit up? Do we know where to find Freeze? Also, does anyone else find it a tiny bit creepy that Steph secretly gave Kate a full body scan? haha
Re-assemble for marching orders. Yes, they know where to find Freeze. He wasn't exactly subtle. Creepy? Oh, honey...
Looks pretty thorough to me. The only names I could maybe think of are Harper Row/Bluebird, Colin Wilkes/Abuse and Jean-Paul Valley/Whatever Alias Jean-Paul Valley is going under these days. and those are all maybes.
I might add Hitman, as it wouldn't be difficult to turn him towards a better path. Someone was working on JPV, I thought, so I excluded him. Bluebird and Wilkes are good ideas.
Not sure if we'll stick it at the front of the OOC, or what. But wanted to get player feedback anyway. That list of characters in case someone needs ideas: List currently looks like: The Grey Ghost Hiro Okamura Knight Carrie Kelley Zatanna Black Canary GCPD: (Crispus Allen, Slam Bradley, Harvey Bullock, Renee Montoya, etc, etc) Dr. Leslie Thompkins The Huntress Jason Bard Richard Dragon Catman Jester Jason Blood just missed the list. I wanted to put Constantine on it (for reasons), but in the end he's never exactly been Gotham-centric. Did I miss anybody?
What about the rest of Batman, Inc? I mean, Blackbat and Batwing are both foreign agents and they're both present.
Didn't ignore the Inc, just didn't specifically want to list each one of them. Though I guess we could, not that big a list.

"You joined the club when you put that Bat on your chest." Stephanie had been scarce when the bullets started to fly, only reappearing when the group came together down in the Batcave. When chaos erupted, Steph had simply, calmly, walked down to the Cave. There was a checklist when Wayne Manor and/or the Cave were attacked, and someone had to go through each step. Steps to ensure secrets weren't compromised during the attack. Then she began pulling all information about Mr. Freeze from the single greatest information gathering system the world had ever seen, the power of knowledge focused into the screens of the Batcomputer. Yet for some reason, Steph felt like she was preparing the Batcave for war. "Kate, follow me?" She half expected the red head to decline. Fortunately for them both she didn't, instead following Steph down a few levels connected by narrow, steep, steel stairs. "My father is Arthur Brown, the Cluemaster. He enjoyed a fantastic successful crime spree in the city until this demon in the dark called the Batman ended that ride shortly after it first appeared in the city." The stairs ended at a great metallic door; it may have looked more like a blast door, but in truth it was a vault door. One of several in the Cave, this one the most recently added. Impossibly thin rays of brilliant blue light came from what appeared a single pen sized lens above the door, one single perfectly straight line expanding into three, then nine, then eighteen, and on it went until Steph's body was completely encased and scanned. The entire thing took all of five seconds, the ground shaking as the massive door began to open with surprising quickness. "He promised to return to my mother and I. He never stayed; lesson learned. Depend on no one but myself." The first image revealed past the door? The purple armored suit of the current Batgirl standing upright in the polished steel stand. The vault had twelve such vertical stands, all the others closed tight. Steph moved to the one just next to the one holding her suit, manicured and high glossed fingernail tipped fingers dancing over a touch pad, unlocking it so tiny hydraulic motors moved to open the stand, revealing a Batwoman suit that appeared just like Kate's own. "I became a costumed vigilante to stop the Cluemaster; the Spoiler, I called myself. A vigilante on my own, with my own methods and rules. Supported by no one--and I never wore a Bat, point of pride." When Steph's big blue eyes rose to finally look at Kate, they might have been shining just a little brighter than normal. "What a joke. It was futile, of course. Somehow, someway, we all end up in the shadow of the Bat. If you want to fight it, fight it. We all walk our own roads. He understands that. So long as you don't become a problem, he's happy to let you walk it." With just the barest of hints at it upon the corners of her mouth, Steph smiled. "Let me guess...surprised your secret wasn't so secret? Don't be. What began as a cutting edge crime fighting computer in this cave has grown to be the best network for information collection and analysis; augmented by unknown billions, his own unmatched genius, and even alien technology........so with that in mind," Steph felt herself grin, her hand motioning to the suit. "It may look like yours, but improvements have been made. It's lighter, and better armored now. Ditto the utility belt; more durable and also lighter. Small arms fire, melee weapons, all better protected against. I spent a week scanning you in class to make sure the physical measurements would be exact. To be honest, Bruce didn't know about this suit until recently...I was planning on revealing myself and offering this as a gift. You know; so you wouldn't die, and I wouldn't lose one of my only friends." Before the emotion there became too obvious in her eyes, Steph turned away from Kate, looking at the Batwoman suit displayed instead. "I didn't change the design, though Lord knows you could use a splash of color." It was a gentle, if honest, tease. "The belt's empty, the pull out drawers built into the back of this space house most our arsenal of belt gadgets. I guess 'pick with Freeze' in mind goes without saying."
Also potentially her reaction to Damian going from 'that weird but smiley kid who bantered with her and Tim' to: "Does this mean I can FINALLY stop acting like a utterly immature moron? Honestly, One more second of that and I would have beaten half of Gotham's elderly into comas! And has anyone seen my knives? FAT-GIRL! WHERE DID YOU HIDE MY KNIVES!?HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO INTERROGATE GOTHAM'S CRIMINALS WITHOUT MY KNIVES?!"
So...normal Damian?
