I just finished The Secret History, a very Gen X book. Never Let Me Go before that, which I'd recommend to any writer outside the MFA atmosphere who wants to know emotonal restraint.

DS9 was my favorite, too. It was a little darker, a little more character driven. And DS9's captain wouldn't take no mess from no Q. >>
Cool, I'll get working. I'll look at races. Although there maybe we can have a little fun with the setting, kinda like with the age opportunity with the Dominion War setting. I don't know what you have planned, but it might be fun to have a Vulcan halfling CO...could do Vulcan/Rihannsu, too, if you really wanted to play up that conflict and intrigue. Some old TOS races are interesting options, as well.
Oh, I can Captain. I'm a Star Trek fanatic, and starship combat has always been a favorite. Learning how to use the Z-axis for space combat when I was a little nerd girl will always be a fond memory.
Love the setting, too. Ever see the Dominion War Sourcebook from Stephen Long? I think is his name; Last Unicorn Gaming, did the amazing Spacedock book for LUG's Trek RPG.
Since it's the Dominion War, do you think I could go with a younger captain? Someone forced into the rank by circumstance (or fate) at a young age? So much dying goes on in the Dominion War, and it'd be so hard for a young captain to be kept out of the war because of some important mission for Spock. Fun conflict, but totally up to you. I'm in the middle of debating whether or not I should continue at the Guild. Trying not to make an emotional decision, so I'm making myself think it over during the weekend.
