Current I'm a pretty good writer and former site staff; I still deal with imposter syndrome every time I log on. You're definitely not alone. And t's worth trying anyway.

I just finished The Secret History, a very Gen X book. Never Let Me Go before that, which I'd recommend to any writer outside the MFA atmosphere who wants to know emotonal restraint.

See now the only problem is that this RP seems almost too good and I'm starting to wonder what the catch is.

I'm subtly brainwashing everyone with each of my posts into doing my ebil bidding so I can take over the local comic shop, and read ALL THE COMICS MUWAHAHAHAHAH

ZATANNAAAAAAA! <3

I can neither confirm, nor deny, a guest appearance by a certain mistress of magic.
@Xtreme...See it's ominous and all, but whenever I see rhyming stuff in the DCU I always immediately think that a certain demon is going to pop up, and I am just going to disappoint myself since he's not associated with the Court of Owls. XD

Wait for Episode 2.

It dives into the dark mystic nature of Gotham City.
<Snipped quote by Ruby>

Beware the court of owls, that watches all the time,
ruling Gotham from a shadow perch, behind granite and lime.
They watch you at your hearth, they watch you in your bed,
speak not a whispered word of them
or they'll send the talon for your head.

aka The Talons are coming for you bitches

Bittttchhzzzzzz

Oooh, Kate Kane. I love her. And we always need more lesbians in my opinion.

I think I got the roster updated. I think.

...Huh, that's a pretty cool system, really.

Of course, now that you've mentioned him, we have to have Condiment King show up at some point. :D

It fits my whole idea on GMing; that I do this for the enjoyment of Players first and foremost--because if the players aren't happy and loving it, I know I as the GM won't have fun and love it.

Storytellers allow players to feel a real sense of "ownership" over the game and the story and the setting--a sense of ownership I'm not sure they'd get otherwise. And players that feel a genuine connection to the game often are happier players that stick around. Not always, but more often than not, I've found.

And God yes, let's have all the obscure villains make an appearance. In the early stages of this game, when Talia was still going to be a GM NPC like Bruce, I was planning on her interrupting a meeting of low level obscure villains (kinda like Heath's Joker interrupts the criminals in TDK), a meeting chaired by Crazy Quilt.

This is how deep my love for the obscure and silly villains goes.

Sassy Alfred is best Alfred <3

Best part about Jeremy Irons Alfred, the shade he throws at Bruce.
@Ruby
I volunteer (as tribute!) as the storyteller for Alfred.

Done. Thank you very much. <3 Help appreciated.
What exactly is combat ranking?:)

A combat ranking is a numerical ranking, #1 being the most formidable combatant, and so on down, with the last person on the list being the least formidable combatant.

Why do I need it? You don't always need one for a Gotham City game, but there are times they are vital.

Say we have a Jason Todd and a Dick Grayson. The Jason Todd player thinks the Red Hood is the new top ass kicker in the Batfamily outside Batman, and the Nightwing player naturally disagrees. But they're fighting IC, and the fight can't resolve because they can't decide how to resolve it.

Now, see, if the GMs had drafted a Combat Ranking...then this disagreement is quickly solved. One of them will be ranked higher than the other. If one is ranked #2 and the other #3, obviously the character who wins will have barely won, and it'll be closer to a tie than an actual victory.

Now even an OC brand new at vigilantism could beat a Nightwing--they'd just need the perfect storm of events to happen to achieve that victory.

As a GM, I like upsets, and I hate when things feel predetermined. So the Combat Rankings will be a helpful guide for Storytellers and GMs, not a holy writ that determines the outcome of every fight.
