The Reserve [Superhero RP in the universe of The Boys]

The Reserve is a 1x1 set in the universe of the Amazon series (and maybe some Garth Ennis trash) The Boys.

Given the recent chaos surrounding The Seven and the losses at Vought International several contingency plans have been enacted. Among the most ambitious of these is the creation of a new team of Supers called The Reserve. Each member is both young adults, and thus impressionable, and score very high on the Vought Power Scale. While they were originally planned as "the next phase of The Seven" recent events have led to a new directive for The Reserve: to join a joint task force comprising of operators for the American CIA and the British MI6.

The team's exact purpose has yet to be revealed to them, however their training has already taken longer than most Supers ever receive and has focused on more than training on abilities and Vought International policy. Soon the team will "graduate" and go on their first official mission, even as the team begins to fracture from within and find themselves pawns in a much larger geopolitical game that will threaten much, much, more than team unity.

Members of The Reserve:

• Armory: The Vought designated leader of the team. Abrasive, narcissistic, and very aggressive male. The metallic bodied "tank" of the team with endurance, strength, and the ability to morph his metallic arms into various bladed weapons.
• Nocturn: Manipulative, petty, and ruthlessly ambitious female. Nocturn has the ability to influence darkness and shadow, enhanced senses, and enhanced agility. Armory's girlfriend.
• Thermite: A hot-headed, impulsive, and immature male. Thermite is a clear successor to the Lamplighter of the Seven as he shares the same abilities, his outfit is similar and he wields a similar staff as Lamplighter.
• Cortex.
• Flux.

Flux

Name: Claudia Marie Luna
Super Identity: Flux
Age: 21

Abilities:

Flux has influence over the electro-magnetism spectrum on a top tier bracket of the Vought Power Scale. The manifestation of her powers so far have been limited to manipulation of metallic objects with high levels of precision even if not objects of great weight. Her greatest feat on moving objects has been lifting an M1A2 Abrhams tank, although she was unable to move it much beyond lifting it. The higher levels of precision with her abilities is what makes Vought consider Flux so bankable. She has proven able to manipulate multiple firearms at a single team, and can even redirect bullets in midflight. Much of Flux's specific training for The Reserve focuses on manipulation of bio-metals and defensive applications of the electro-magnetic spectrum; as a result Flux has added limited flight to her powerset.

Bio:

Claudia Luna lost both her parents to a hit and run drunk driver at an early age, thereafter raised by her mother's sister. Life in the Third Ward of Houston, Texas, was never easy in the financial sense but between the Catholic Church that acted as her second home, the church community, and a loving aunt Claudia had the best childhood that could be expected given the cards fate dealt her. But whatever fate took from her, it also gave her: Vought International identified Claudia as a "Super" early in life and swooped in to assist her aunt with the child's upbringing and financial needs.

Claudia tried to stay in regular school as long as she could, but that proved difficult when she used her powers to stop a stabbing during a school yard fight between two boys. After she was removed and provided private tutors and homeschooling for the academic and the super-powered. The more Vought International stepped in to help, the more her aunt allowed them, and after a while Claudia began to feel more like a golden ticket for her aunt. A girl who lost her parents too early is a girl haunted by ghosts she could never know, the "golden ticket" syndrome only made it worse.

Flux saved two oil tankers from colliding in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Galveston, averting a massive environmental disaster. She kept an exploding chemical plant from full meltdown, delaying the worst until the plant workers could escape. Each incident was kept as close to under-wraps as possible, the entire oil tankers incident was attributed to swift action from nearby tugboat captains and Houston Port Authority officials. Local news cameras caught a flying girl nearby the plant as several large chemical storage tanks were kept from collapsing just long enough for workers to escape, forcing Vought International to admit that there was an "under-development" Super in the city of Houston.

#HtownHeroine trended in the city, and the nation, briefly before Vought International manufactured an a terrorist incident for The Seven to respond to so that the news cycle would move on from the Houston flying girl caught in grainy photo. Claudia was admonished for using her powers in such a way, flying in the face of everything Claudia grew up believing about Supers. It was the second major crack in her trust with Vought International. After achieving her highschool diploma and being accepted into the Electrical Engineering program at the University of Texas at Austin, Claudia spent a solid two years on campus before Vought International was able to finally intrigue her:

The concept was a team of young Supers with high power ceilings than The Young Americans or Teenage Kix, more on par with Payback. Claudia left college for the training facility of the new team: The Reserve. Flux found herself thrown in with four other younger, strong, Supers that had just as little public knowledge about them as she did: Armory, Thermite, Nocturn, and Cortex. While their training was intense and would take over a year, unusual for a Vought International team, the team itself had it's issues.

The core these issues reside in the fact that Thermite, Nocturn, and Armory aren't that unusual from many young Supers brought up in the enabling culture of Vought International. Whereas Cortex and Flux are far more reserved, mature, and as a result distant. This has lead to designated team leader Armory complaining to Vought International that Cortex and Flux are bad fits for a superhero team.

New guy around the big table

Hello people, as said in the title I am brand new on this site, though I'm not a newbie when it comes to roleplay. I've been playing with friends for a good few years now, mainly with homebrew systems, as well as some D&D 5th edition and Legend of the Five Rings. I'm interested in text-based stuff and I've been curious about trying it. I spend an awful lot of time creating worlds or pieces of worlds, so I thought I might as well give it a try.

I'm more interested in dark and gritty realism, which is one of the reasons why I'm a huge Warhammer Fantasy and 40k fan, but I'm not necessarily interested in only grimdark stuff. I can do just fine with more light-hearted fantasy stuff, though omnipresent magic and unexplained crazy tech everywhere (in the case of sci-fi) is not my cup of tea. I also have a soft spot for steampunk and dieselpunk imagery and technology.

All in all, I'm here for exploring, digging around and hopefully finding some gold in the sand. See you around!

I Miss Roleplaying

Greetings! Whenever talking out of character, I go by "Ben", I'm a dad to a 5 year old, and an aspiring writer. ^_^ I've been involved in roleplaying since, sheesh, Jr. High? I'll be 35 this summer, so, I've been involved in RP, in one system or another, for more than half my life, at this point. You could say I grew up on Homebrews, Rifts, old World of Darkness, and Dungeons&Dragons (but mostly Rifts and other Palladium settings). In more recent years I've played a lot of Pathfinder 1st Ed and 5th Ed D&D (even doing a bit of GMing in the former), with the occasional dabbling in other games like Hollow Earth Expedition, a few additional Palladium settings and even a recent homebrew. I really miss play by post, which I also have experience with, and I really enjoy for the freedom of play and the lack of scheduling issues, since it's whenever I can hop on, usually. I especially appreciate rp as an aspiring writer, since I find that consistently engaging in creative activity helps me maintain a flow of ideas and creative energy for my pet projects as I try to get published!
I really enjoy a variety of post-apocalyptic scenarios, as well as fantasy, science fiction, and combinations thereof. Horror is something I'd really love to explore, since it's a favorite topic of mine to write in graphic novel scripts! I'm interested in learning new game styles (nation role play is something I don't think I've heard of, for example), but more than anything else I have a hankering for some regular roleplaying, preferably with other adults.
