In SoL, the 'goals' become the drama and interpersonal connections/histories players make with each other. Plus setting in in places like a school/college for example give you a timeline to work with.

About
Been at this game for a good while now. Starting RPing at the tender age of 15 back when Bebo was a thing. A year later I found myself forum Roleplaying and haven't really looked back since. Over these past ten years I have done practically every kind of RP you could imagine from Nation RPs and Arena RPs to 1x1s and Large group RPs. My last RP hobby was fighting RPs, which I have now decided to leave behind in order to pursue more SoL style Rps.

Outside of RP I am an aspiring writer, despite being terrible with words, as well as an avid gamer. If I am not on discord with the Guild or RPing in some way, I am probably on either my PlayStation or on Steam. Moved into D&D and ended up starting a podcast that has been an interesting journey.

The 1st Magic Insurrection

Back before the advent of the sciences, humanity had the ability to cast magic. Magic users were the more dominant force of humanity. During these periods their power was nothing short of incredible and you could tell these people apart from the standard human by their black, tattoo like birthmarks. The magical powers these people possessed had a varying range; from telekinesis to elemental abilities. At the height of their power the Magic users accounted for almost 70% of the human population.

However, The magic users were split in their philosophy. Some of them believed that it was the magic users job to protect the earth and its inhabitants. Others thought that it was their place to control the rest of the world. This differing view of beliefs eventually culminated in a magic war between the two warring factions; The Guild, who wanted to protect the Earth, and Corpus, the group that wanted to dominate humanity. This war was highly destructive and very quickly many lives were lost. At one point it was even thought that the Earth might be destroyed. The remaining non-magic users of Earth, in the fallout of this war, decided to put aside their petty squabbles of country and tribe, and try to deal with this 'magic' problem.

What happened next was nothing short of genocide. Quickly, large groups of Magic users were being murdered, and their numbers quickly diminished. As their numbers dropped so did the chance that any new born children who were born became magic users too. After hundreds of years of persecution, the remaining population of magic users had dwindled to less that 5%, and today in 2017 has fallen to 0.1% with only an estimated 20,000 magic users left.

However, old habits never die, and once again the cauldron is starting to bubble. A group of angry and disenfranchised magic users have started their own terrorist cell called 'Dark Shadow': The Corpus re-imagined for the modern world. Their goal is to take over the world, and show the rest of humanity why magic users are the dominant species.

On the flipside, the Guild still carries on, trying to regulate the hiding magic users. Creating rules and laws which it enforces, trying to keep the peace between the magic and non magic forces by creating its own authority. While everyone in the magic world might not agree with them, everyone has no choice but to accept. This mainly comes from the fact that the Guild has been run as a hereditary dynasty. The powers of the dynasty have been passed down through each child and this has culminated in creating arguably the most power magic user in the world. Her powers are legendary and she has used these powers, along with other methods to keep everyone in check.

So this RP is not a black and white, Good Vs Evil RP. The Guild id the force for good, but they are not angels themselves. The leader of the Guild can be a bitch. But it is pretty much a RP where two sides will be competing against one another and trying to get the upper hand. Your characters will get hurt and may even die. You have been warned.

I will be taking on the role of the leader of the Dark Shadow which means i need someone to play the leader of the Guild. Given the importance of this role i am looking for someone who is experienced and i am sorry if i judge your character sheet more harshly than others if you apply for the role. It is just important i get her right. The person who gets this is pretty much a Co-GM by default.

Character sheet and Relationship sheet is below. The relationship sheet is only applicable to characters you know before the RP started. It mostly will contain the people from your own team, unless you have had prior run ins with people from the other team. You will need to message the other accepted players to see what kind of relationship they would like with your character.

I am new to the whole GMing thing and am terrible at creating character sheets etc. PLEASE feel free to add bits, styling and other bits that you like. Any information you want to add is fine. I am not going to get pissy if you adapt the template. I want you to be creative and feel the character you are making :) I am sure some of you have fancy fonts as well xD

Also, i just want to take the chance to say, thank you for reading my text and getting this far. I am quite nervous about doing this and i am sure that i have missed things out, so please if you have any suggestions etc, please let me know. I am really excited to get my First RP here off the ground.

Okay, so that makes 5 of us. I will try throw something together. Never really been good at GMing haha
It has been a long time since i did a Nation RP, i remember having loads of fun writing News Articles and conversations etc.

Is anyone up for doing a Nation RP set in modern Times? Doesn't have to be our Earth, just the sorta tech level of where we are now.

It had been a long month. Ok. Just over a month. More like a month and a half. Where he was now was significantly different to what life was like back at Robins. While life there sucked, they had power, defences and a whole load of other things. While things were looking bad there, Gregory was starting to regret leaving. Sure, it would have eventually descended into chaos and mutiny, but at least walkers couldn’t get you there.

Greg couldn’t truly complain, though; he had gotten fairly lucky in his time outside Robins walls. Well as lucky as luck could be in this new harsh reality. He had found some food, not a lot, but enough. His search for new supplies had taken him northbound furthermore, to the sleepy little area of Arnco Mills. The place had seemed quiet and it did appear as if no one was around. He had spotted the odd walker, but it seemed that they were more bothered with other things. And that was good. Greg was not in the best position to deal with those sort of things currently. He had run out of distraction devices and he really didn’t want to have to use his gun. He had loathed using it before, and he continued to loathe it now. Currently, he had made his way onto 4th street, looking around at the varying degree of empty homes. He needed batteries. He needed anything electronic and these houses seemed like a good place to start.

The heat had done a number on the road, causing it crack and crack more and more, the place had turned into a wasteland of sorts. It appeared as if Arnco Mills was a leafy green place when it was maintained, but the foliage and shrubs had now gotten out of control, overgrowing everything it seemed. This was good, though. It meant you could hide from Walkers a lot easier, but it also meant that they could hide from you too. Greg would approach a nearby house, No 62. It was a nice little-detached house, white and wooden and despite the apocalypse seemed to look whiter than ever. Almost pristine. It seemed like it would be the perfect place to find some supplies. Slowly walking over to the door, Greg placed his ear on the wood, waiting to see if he could hear anything on the other side, any sort of giveaway that he was in trouble, or that someone could be waiting for him on the other side.
@Lady Amalthea

While the night had been long for Tim, it had been equally as long for Jacob. The lack of sleep on them both was rather apparent. Jacob simply handed the file over to him.

"We couldn't get the manifests, but they are flight papers and other bits that prove I was on those flights. I.. I heard about those other murders in the middle of the night" Jacob looked to the side, a lump forming in his throat. "It couldn't have been me as I was in the hotel all night. Up inside the penthouse floors. And I couldn't tell you who the murderer is. Trust me... I have been up all night thinking about it. Simone's murder makes sense, people didn't like her. But for all these murders. Someone has to have a lot of hate. And I know if we are going down that route, that it would make me a prime suspect again but I can promise you I didn't kill anyone. I didn't hate them people so much I would kill them"

Jacob didn't know why he had to keep working so hard to clear his name. Flashbacks of the time surrounding Simone's murder had come back to him, and that paranoia of false prosecution was fresh in his mind. He had to do anything within his power to prevent that from happening again, but he wasn't sure what he could do asides from solving the murders to prove that it wasn't him. It didn't matter what evidence he gave, they could call it fake. He needed the real killer to prove his true innocence.
There we go, posted at last. Sorry for the wait

The night had been rough for Jacob. It seemed as if an end wasn't in sight. He couldn't sleep. Every five minutes he ran up his assistant to get an update on the documents he so desperately wanted. Eventually, late in the night they arrived, along with Shi, his bodyguard. She was a small Japanese young woman. Her looks made her look like nothing more than a fan girl, but she was packing and she was never afraid to use it. He had decided to get security after an incident involving a crazed fan. Since then he didn't look back.

For most of the night, Jacob was curled up on the chair in the executive suite of the towns hotel. Looking at bits of paper and notes he had jotted down, both about Simone's murders and the new ones. He knew that people were beginning to suspect him as a main suspect, and he was intent on making sure he didn't have to live through that hell again. To that effect, he took it upon himself to try and solve these murders himself. But he was getting nowhere. Dawn was breaking and his brain was fried. He decided to go and drop these manifest papers to Tim, as it would at least distract him. Going down to the chauffeur driven car, he failed to even contemplate that this could have been the same hotel that other former pupils were staying in. Walking out of the lobby and into the limo he took a moment to adjust his jacket. He needed to have himself composed for when he arrived.

Arriving at the station was a bit of a shock to Jacob, camera crews were everywhere. This wasn't good. So much for the media blackout that was supposed to be in effect. Parking as close as he could get without killing anyone, the chauffeur opened the door to the passenger side, Shi getting out first to survey the area whispering into his ear as he got out "Be careful, the murderer could be in this crowd" Standing upright, Jacob sighed. This was not good, not good at all. Walking towards the steps, the media began to turn their attention to Jacob, he was used to this, but not frenzies like this. That was usually reserved for A-List Celebs. Thankfully Shi did a good job of carving a rather forceful path through the sea of cameras and microphones, climbing the steps until he was up with Tim

"You got a minute?" Jacob asked, looking at how Tim seemed just as uncomfortable as Jacob "I have a few things for you too, just, not infront of this lot"
