So I have been on the Guild for a long, long, long, long, long, long, LONG time. I first joined the OldGuild around, my best guess would be 2012? I've been active in the Star Wars scene on the Guild since then, there have been very few games based around that genre that I haven't at least nosed my way in on. My very first game was a Star Wars game and that's what actually really got me into the Star Wars Franchise.
It's weird to think but I am such a major Star Wars nerd these days, yet before I was on the Guild I wasn't. I got into a Star Wars RP, got onto the Wikia, and then away I went into a spiral of nerd-om that I currently live within. I've grown since then, I game quite a bit, I write when I can. I have a wikia full of a lore to my own original creative universe and play around with some 'cool' comic book nerds.
I've been collecting scans and digital copies of comics for over a decade, so most of mine are taken directly from the source. I try to crop the text out, but if that doesn't work, I usually use Photoshop to get rid of the text manually. It can be time consuming, but worth it in the long run. I have over 200 Batman images that I've been preparing for this RP alone, with new ones being compiled over the last week for Batman's new costume for the season.
If you can't get your hands on scans or digital issues like me, however, I suggest Comicvine's galleries for your respective characters, Google image search for textless covers, or the Marvel and DC Wikias. Sometimes even searching for a specific artist helps.
Pros: Cicada as a villain has the potential to be really twisted, dark and interesting. A different direction than the Speedsters, and even the Thinker. Which I feel is a breath of energy that the series needs, something dramatically different. Barry had to think fast to beat the Thinker, but this time he'll likely need another solution.
Nora/Excess. I feel like the actor portraying her has great chemistry on screen with Grant. There's just something between the two of them that works and I really buy that she's trying to connect with her dad.
Dibny: More Dibny is always good, it's great to see him back to his normal self and the idea that him, Caitlin and Cisco will be venturing on their own little sidequest to find out more about Killer Frost is a good way to maybe let Barry shine on his own a little bit more, especially as he seems to be filling the mentorship role for Excess, in a way he didn't for KF.
The CGI has also improved.
Cons: Timetravel, and messing with the timeline. I'm sorry but to me, the repeated use of Timetravel, worry about messing with the timeline and Barry/someone knowing something about the future that other people don't and are keeping it a secret because it could have consequences... it just doesn't do anything for me anymore.
Iris: The CW always seems to portray her in a way that I really can't get behind. Iris and Lois Lane are pretty similar characters, they both evolved from reporter/love interests. She just seems continually whiny, rather than strong. Dependent on everyone else, it just doesn't make her that much of a likeable character. I feel like she mainly suffers from 'She was always designed to be the love interest' so it felt forced, rather than natural. There are shining moments for her in this episode, but on a whole she's still on the line for me.
Extra: The Plane Phase was on point, I wasn't really into comics before the New52 (don't shoot me), so I remember the plane phase with Mob Rule, and it was a nice little mention and a nod to some form of inter-connection in continuity.
Next person to nominate Sep for MVP is on my list.
I feel like I've lost all possible votes for MVP in the nine days since this OOC has been active.
To be Superhero news related, going to watch the new episode of the Flash soon so I'll have a review up.
On a side note, I fell out of Arrow/Legends of Tomorrow after the Crisis on Earth-X Crossover, is it worth getting back into? Or is it just a slog?
I didn't realize Iris was so loose. Maybe Bruce could stand to shack up with a speedster...
Also, post is up. It's literally maybe one third of what I'm writing, but I figured better to post that than to make everyone's eyeballs bleed right out the gate.
You've missed the ship of being 'right out the gate'.
I take it back, this clearly reeks of trying too hard.
I remember when some legit all but forced their character to fall in love with mine and have them be the absolutely most alluring human being ever. Did I protest, did I make a comment to the GM? Move on? Force Conflict?
But wouldn't any lovemaking scene with Iris just be like a sentence or two long because of her being, ahem, The Fastest Woman Alive?
Yeah but in her timeframe it will last a while. As a female rather than a guy I imagine the increased speed of bodily functions would be detrimental in its own way. While with Barry it's insinuated that the speed could result in him being too fast, for Iris I imagine her partner may not be fast enough.
