Current The way some people spell makes me wonder about their pronunciation.

They say it's about the journey, not the destination. This is true of many things. Pizza delivery is not one of them.

TFW you know what you want to happen but the words aren't cooperating. Why is plot suddenly so much harder to write?

Glad to see I'm not the only follower of Lord Cato, god of wisdom, on this most auspicious Superb Owl Sunday.

Bio

I am an adult, though I don't usually act like it. I'm a voracious reader, and not overly picky about books. I am artistic in a variety of areas, including music, drawing, writing, and sculpting. I have a minor obsession with dragons, and love the color violet. Fantasy is my preferred genre, be it past, future, urban...as long as it has a fantasy flavor to it. I also like scifi, mystery, and some horror. I am crazy, and I like tormenting my characters. But I don't bite...much. ^.~

I said it before, but I think I'm just kinda lacking inspiration in a lot of places right now. =/
@Ojo chan 42 But she's a kelpie, not a seasonborn. So it's irrelevant -- and if she started out unaligned, she might very well pledge her allegiance to a different season. In fact, that would make her an /excellent/ spy for any court save fall.

@Prince of Seraphs you should get on this. Person might be useful. =P And since Falk is causing trouble by going after the Winter Queen....
@Ojo chan 42

@LadyRunic Didn't Falk shut the borders of Fall while he's away? Not only that, but if Ojo's char really hasn't been to the fey realm yet, then Laira would have no indication that she's Fall-aligned. She may be intended to be, but she's not yet, and she certainly hasn't sworn loyalty to anyone. Granted, she might traipse in by mistake but even from the outside realm I imagine an unrecognized fey would be unwelcome at best and quite possibly dead. Aisling better be ready to save that unfortunate kelpie's hide....

@Prince of Seraphs I think that's a typo. I think. >.<;

Amuné heard the words, though she only partly understood the meaning. The other girl was the one who kept the Old Gods away? But if so, why put her in the Stone? That sort of magic was actually useful, so wouldn’t some city somewhere have accepted having a snare if it kept the witches at bay? People hate us so much...maybe even that isn’t enough.... The little girl followed Grace and the singer through the raggy weeds. The garden -- well, it had been a garden once, though there were as many stray plants as tended flowers now -- was pretty, in a left-alone and forgotten sort of way. The statue was a funny one, a boy with furry legs and hooves. But who’d make a statue of a snare? She wished she could go take a closer look but the woman with the stone arm was going the other way, towards the cliff. When they got closer, a cave could be made out, and Grace went in.

Inside were the remains of fighters. The armor scattered around wasn’t so bad, but the bones, especially the skulls, were terribly frightening, and she tried to avoid them. The cave didn’t seem like a safe place at all! Amuné went over next to the singer as soon as the lady moved away. Very quietly, so she would only be heard by the other girl, the younger child spoke. “I don’t understand...what’s happening? Are...those things. The ones behind the wall. They’re really gods?” A thoughtful pause followed. “How do we fix it? You can fix it, right?” It was more a plea than a question. She couldn’t let go of the tiny shard of hope, the prayer that, while things might not be better, at least maybe they might not get any worse than they had been. “Um...I’m Amuné. And this is Kitten.” Not a very creative name for the stuffed animal, but she’d named it when she was very little and never changed it.

She was keeping an eye on the woman with the stone arm, and the magic being worked. Magic was bad, /very/ bad. She didn't want to stay near it, but she didn't want to leave the singer behind either.

@Belle *fuzzes*

Actually, I'm tempted to...oh, but Lei is tied to Maxwell, so even if spites (and pixies) /can/ go over Court boundaries with impunity, she herself could not.

Well fudge. =/
*lacking inspiration, for some reason* =/
When Geoffrey knocked upon the door, Amuné glanced at it, but she didn’t get up. The suggestion of music was met with silence, but when he returned the door swung open just enough to admit him and a disheveled head poked out. The girl didn’t smile, her red eyes and damp cheeks making it obvious she’d been crying. She stepped aside wordlessly and shut the door behind him, then went across the room and climbed back into the bed. Wyth rested his head on the covers next to her, blinking lazily as she scratched behind his ears.

Amuné made no effort to say anything, just lying quietly. If Geoffrey wanted to play music, that’d be fine, but she was still upset, even gloomy. Her world had been shattered, and every time something seemed to get better something else fell apart. Would she ever be able to put everything back together? It really didn’t feel possible just then. And thinking about it, it seemed like she’d help make things worse too.

After a song or two, she finally mustered the energy to speak. "D'you know...the Ballad of Ladybird? Or...um...Cat and Mouse?" She had no idea if the latter was even playable on flute, but she'd heard a variant of the former done as a flute and harp duet. It seemed the child was actually paying attention to him now, instead of just sorta sharing a space.
@AlexStarsion She's not going to be responsive for at least a little bit.
@AlexStarsion Almost done with my post. I assume if Amune lets Geoffrey in he'll play for her, so I'm just going to include that....
