They say it's about the journey, not the destination. This is true of many things. Pizza delivery is not one of them.

TFW you know what you want to happen but the words aren't cooperating. Why is plot suddenly so much harder to write?

Glad to see I'm not the only follower of Lord Cato, god of wisdom, on this most auspicious Superb Owl Sunday.

Bio

I am an adult, though I don't usually act like it. I'm a voracious reader, and not overly picky about books. I am artistic in a variety of areas, including music, drawing, writing, and sculpting. I have a minor obsession with dragons, and love the color violet. Fantasy is my preferred genre, be it past, future, urban...as long as it has a fantasy flavor to it. I also like scifi, mystery, and some horror. I am crazy, and I like tormenting my characters. But I don't bite...much. ^.~

Hmm, well. Orion can let Cera stay or not -- probably not, since he leaves in two hours or so. Might comment on the name not being the same as what she called it -- but I guess the fact that most of the letters are out explains the reason.

For the later section...Lya might notice that Amune is decidedly uneasy. The girl probably won't explain much of why, but you could. There's introductions to the various other folk -- particularly those that Tsitua might want Amune to work with, if he is considering trying to train her. She'd have some sort of reaction upon seeing Cain here -- and it's totally because they're kinda close in the other thread. Yay for inaccurate impressions! Probably recognition, and a sense of knowing him well, though she'd be wary about it because she can't place it, and because I'm sure kid!Amune is going to find out he's actually very dangerous at some point. Hm, you might take her to see Nunque, though right now if Amune sees him tied up she won't take it well, and someone will need to explain fast or she might try to fight her way out.

I am curious as to why nobody has asked about Jareth's presence. He wasn't exactly invited, and while he is an untrained magic user, it's not yet particularly active, nor does he seem especially useful.
Wyth came in on Cecil's heels, slipping around the Machina and the man that stabbed him and leaping for the one beyond. But the room was more open, and Wyth's flank was undefended. One of the other slavers sank his long knife into the feline's haunch, and Wyth yowled in pain, turning to snap at the man. The injury had the cat limping badly now, but his girl was right there, he could smell her now.

Amuné got to her feet when the door was smashed in. The first one through wasn't who she expected, but really, she would even be glad to see Zander's scowl at that point. "Cecil!" she cried with a sob, running to the bars of her cell and reaching a hand through them, even though he was across the room. "And Wyth..Cecil, get me out of here!"

Wyth crossed the room as quickly as he could with two injured legs, hitting the bars of the cage with considerable force as he tried to break it open with sheer bulk. But the metal held, and he stumbled back with an unhappy noise. His girl flinched at the strike, but moments later she was reaching out to run her hand through his coarse fur. Wyth only spared her a moment for comfort before he turned to face the rest of the room with a growl. Anyone that wanted to get to his girl would have to go through him.
@Scout baaah, I liked the old picture
Yes please!
@ELGainsborough Ah, got you. That was my suspicion. And I have to say, I agree. Here, you have to trust that players have the skill to separate IC and OOC knowledge, and a lot of times OOC knowledge can spoil the feeling of a surprise. Surprises are fun, and getting rid of them is not. However, how much or little is needed in terms of setting and characters is largely up to the DM and to some extent the players. I will almost never turn down information offered me, and I love discussing details and knowing things, but at the same time, the only things I really absolutely /have/ to know are the governing rules of the setting, the things that I need to be aware of as I shape a character and format their actions and reactions, and the things that character would know. Everything else might be helpful but it's not required. Granted, things that would affect how a character acts in a given situation can be a gray area. And I have some trouble with things that don't make sense or appear arbitrary, as I've had bad experiences where DMs said "this is so and there's a good reason" and then the reason was not good at all. But in the end, I like a bit of mystery.

Really, my favorite DM has me spoiled. The group I'm in with him -- and two other new groups we're both in as well, to some degree -- have loads of lore that we've build up over the course of the campaign. Everyone started off knowing next to nothing about everyone else and just the essentials of the world (though it was a familiar setting for many of us, just moved forward 200 years or so to after a nuclear war and recovery). So we were comfortable in the setting, familiar enough to be comfortable in our own characters, and could feel out other characters as we went. And when it comes to surprises, I trust him absolutely -- and with my characters' lives and well-being. I know he'll ask before doing anything too terrible, and so if he wants to do something and doesn't specify, my usual response is "is this going to cause drama and character development? If so, let's do it."

Unfortunately, finding that sort of group, and that sort of trust, is not easy. And because it takes rping with someone to see they are capable and to build that trust, a lot of threads here and other places require exhaustive details. C'est la vie, I suppose.
@Terminal But it does exclude negative fame overall -- as in, everyone knows you and you are universally disliked because of it. It might /possibly/ exclude villains that are seen as dashing and handsome but still questionable (Loki comes to mind, in the MCU, though he wouldn't fit this theme -- and he also has a positive regard in the fanbase. Or Joker in the Suicide Squad, as most people understand he was completely mistreating Harley and it was a messed up relationship). You want someone seen in a positive light overall, which is not the only way of being famous. If you want an infamous person with a positive reputation, go with Robin Hood. He's the classic hero of the people if not the law. But for the other way, I mean someone like...to go to extremes, let's say Hilter. Famous? Most certainly. Would I say I like him, admire him, want to mimic him? A resounding no.

So you want a luminary, a role model, one who is admired and imitated and praised, not merely someone who is well-known, correct? If so, I don't feel that famous adequately covers this meaning.
@ELGainsborough When you say transparency, what do you mean? Are you speaking of character details, intentions...?

By the way, lovely signature. <3
@RomanAria Raia actually did this IC. Well. Not quite hates, but pretty far down. She is a naytheist...and she ended up the avatar for a goddess (long story). So yeah, she loathes that. ^.^

By the way, @TErminal, my understanding of the words "famous" and "infamous" are that one /generally/ has a positive connotation, and the other is overwhelmingly negative, but that technically famous means, in essence, "well known". So someone who is infamous may be famous because of that. So while you note that you did not say infamous, that simply means we are not limited to deeds of infamy. Granted, your clarification after makes clear that negative fame is not sought, the word famous itself does not exclude that interpretation. *word nerd and pendant, feel free to tell me to shut up*

Anyhow, I might just do this, depending on Termite's verdict there (I'm not sure which way I'd prefer to go at the moment), though I can likely do either. Maybe not /well/, but I can do them passably.
@yoshua171 Oh hello Yosh~
@Mogtaki thought that it might be loud enough to hear normally, but it works either way.
