They say it's about the journey, not the destination. This is true of many things. Pizza delivery is not one of them.

TFW you know what you want to happen but the words aren't cooperating. Why is plot suddenly so much harder to write?

Glad to see I'm not the only follower of Lord Cato, god of wisdom, on this most auspicious Superb Owl Sunday.

Bio

I am an adult, though I don't usually act like it. I'm a voracious reader, and not overly picky about books. I am artistic in a variety of areas, including music, drawing, writing, and sculpting. I have a minor obsession with dragons, and love the color violet. Fantasy is my preferred genre, be it past, future, urban...as long as it has a fantasy flavor to it. I also like scifi, mystery, and some horror. I am crazy, and I like tormenting my characters. But I don't bite...much. ^.~

Hey, guys, easy! We were having an interesting and educational discussion about comparative military ranks and their responsibilities, and now people are all salty. We cleared up the confusion, for the most part, which was only really an issue for us detail-oriented and nit-picky folks anyhow. We good, right? Right?
@MegaOscarPwn I posted a link with ranks. And now I've fixed it so it works. The American equivalent seems to be Private First Class, but I'm not familiar with the specifics. Unfortunately, @Oak7ree, Finland is not on the list. This page has commanding officers and the units they generally command, but it's all ranks in English. This one mentions various ranks in English and compares between air, land, and water. There's some variation from nation to nation and between the three divisions, but the basic idea is the same.

My understanding is that a lance corporal would indeed lead a fireteam, but a full-corporal would outrank him slightly? So lance corporal, corporal, and then in some armies there seems to be something like corporal major or a super-corporal, which is a slightly higher rank. It's divisions within the rank, I guess.
@Stern Algorithm <3 thank you~ And yes, updating minor things is fine. ^.^
@Oak7ree@Lady Selune I've seen it too, and I know it's not used everywhere. But basically, Lt can modify other ranks. Lt commander is used in star trek, one rank below commander, for example. So Lt corporal would be about one rank below a corporal. Lance corporal is also one I've seen. Look up NATO ranks on wikipedia. It's a pretty good resource, though I can't seem to find Lt corporal there.
today was exhausting. Shy is going to BED. x.x Will respond to that sheet tomorrow because right now I'm not sure you'd get anything coherent. X.x
@MegaOscarPwn advice: use past tense. Don't worry about comparing. As long as you give us something to work with, and put thought in, you are contributing. Either we have fun and everyone wins, or /everyone/ loses. RP is a team venture!
@Lady Selune This is why Izkry does not have his guitar. ^.^
@Oak7ree Ah, so like in Israel. Still, I don't think I'd've done well in an army.
@Oak7ree did you really? Wow.
@Oak7ree a lot. All soldiers train with a great deal of gear -- something the civvies probably can't do unless they're already rather strong.
