They say it's about the journey, not the destination. This is true of many things. Pizza delivery is not one of them.

TFW you know what you want to happen but the words aren't cooperating. Why is plot suddenly so much harder to write?

Glad to see I'm not the only follower of Lord Cato, god of wisdom, on this most auspicious Superb Owl Sunday.

Bio

I am an adult, though I don't usually act like it. I'm a voracious reader, and not overly picky about books. I am artistic in a variety of areas, including music, drawing, writing, and sculpting. I have a minor obsession with dragons, and love the color violet. Fantasy is my preferred genre, be it past, future, urban...as long as it has a fantasy flavor to it. I also like scifi, mystery, and some horror. I am crazy, and I like tormenting my characters. But I don't bite...much. ^.~

The sound of the breaking flask made the girl wince, but she didn't mention it. "You were a bandit?" Amuné hadn't completely missed the frightening implication that lurked in the woman's words. "But that's...." Instead of saying it was bad, she let the condemnation go unspoken, frowning as she ran her hand through Wyth's shaggy fur. It was a lot to take in.

"I want to help." She climbed slowly to her feet, using the table for support. Though her voice was soft, her gaze was solemn and direct. "I know I'm little and I don't know much, but...I can learn." Saints, she felt so very weak. "I mean...I could tell where the worst of the ice was going to be so Wyth and I could avoid it, and I knew the men in suits were coming before they arrived. And I'm learning to be a healer like Mommy -- I don't have that kind of magic, but even a non-Magi healer is useful, right?"

The girl was pathetically eager to contribute somehow, even with her meagre skill. "Taliya...do you think there's someone who could teach me? I wanna be able to use my magic right, and there's a lot more Magi here than in Pinesgrove. There's gotta be someone who can, right?" Amuné dropped her gaze. "I don't like not being able to do anything," she added in a small voice.
@Pascal I'm pretty sure you're gonna do wonderfully~

@Mogtaki doesn't let us have his skype is why. =P
Belasý glanced at Jean, then at Maria, but her only reply was a soft snort. Izkry sighed. "She really does do some of her best work alone, or with a very small and very...ah, understanding team," he said, watching her glance around to orient herself before pointing in the proper direction and heading that way. "A sniper, she does not need so much to work as a piece of something larger. Even so, I am sorry. She is...not easy to handle. Perhaps understandable given our history, but I do wish she would make more of an effort." He gave the others a lopsided smile and a shrug. He'd been trying to convince his sister people were OK for years.

((Short but hey, tis something!))
Dunno if I can post this week -- and strictly speaking I think it's my turn after @MegaOscarPwn. But don't let that hold you back!
"I can't control when I See things, either. There's patterns, but...I'm just guessing." Her voice was small, but Amuné was a little annoyed with the woman. And here she'd just been thinking maybe she wasn't all bad. "Sometimes I See helpful things...sometimes...." The girl didn't sound very sure. "Daddy says Seers can protect people, but I couldn't even protect him." She shivered, and quickly tried to think about other things. Taliya was trying to be reassuring.... Amuné took a deep breath as directed.

"No they're not!" So much for being calmer. The girl stamped her foot. "And don't you say mean things about my daddy!" She folded her arms and scowled. "The Magi in his tribe, they're /nice/ people. They keep the tribe safe, and they help train begleimaat like Wyth, and maybe the legends aren't all true but they're based on truth!" She paused, frowning again and lowering her head. "Heroes aren't just Magi...and I didn't say all Magi are good, I know better now...but magic is a gift. We're not supposed to use it for bad things. That's wrong. But it's non-Magi too that are bad. They're the ones that hurt Daddy...."

She trailed off, and was glad for something else to focus on. Permission granted, she put her hand flat on the book and closed her eyes, trying to reach out with her magic. "They're...hard to hit...." The young Seer spoke softly, her face scrunched in concentration. She'd not had time to read the entry, and she was clearly doing /something/, a faint shiver of magic indicating the effort. "But if it gets...worn out...or if you surprise it, then it can't...can't...." Her expression shifted to one of confusion. "...A church? This isn't -- no don't!"

Amuné jerked her hands away from the book as if burned, nearly overbalancing as she stumbled backwards. She looked sick, clapping a hand over her mouth, breath coming in gasps. "They killed him," she whispered, looking at Taliya with eyes so wide they looked like they might pop out of her head. "Ran him right through. They just...." She looked for Wyth, wanting the comfort a large, protective animal provided, and a single unsteady step brought her to his side before her knees gave out. She was exhausted. First the sudden vision, and then trying to use her magic on purpose, and she didn't think she could stand again even if she hadn't been shaking. Wyth stuck his face under her chin and she gave him a halfhearted scratch. "Why do they hate us so much, Taliya?" The words came out wavery and almost too quiet to be heard. "What did Magi do, that people will hurt us and the Church wants us dead? Why can't they just leave us be?"
@Oak7ree yeah, Shy is taken already. @MegaOscarPwn needs to be himself. =P
Anyone wanna post before I go again? Last call! I know @PrimalOrigins is working on one, but I don't think it will be the end of the world if I go before he finishes. Let's get this show on the road!
@MegaOscarPwn you can if it makes sense. There's three of us plus the dm -- two posts since your last means you should post again. =P
The woman knew. She'd said too much, and the woman knew and--

"Wh-what?" Amuné wiped the tears from her face, sniffling, though she wasn't going to be calm right away. "No, it's not -- it's not just future. I See...I See past too, and present sometimes. ...And I know, it's not helpful or anything. All I do is get in trouble and need help." Her expression was fragile, her posture tense and wary, like she still expected to get hurt. "I know a little, but...I can't really control it. There was no one to teach me. Mommy's a healer Magi, and Daddy has the blessing of Saint Kedo, like Ethan, and they showed me what they could, but I've never even met someone else with Sight. ...And Daddy says that I have to be careful even of other Magi, because Seers get misunderstood a lot."

Taliya grabbed a book and opened it, and when she waved the girl over Amuné approached slowly and looked at the picture the woman pointed at. "That's it! That's what I Saw! ...Not cut out for what? Besides...monsters are just monsters." She dropped her head, wiping her eyes as tears threatened again. "It's p-people that are really bad. Like the ones in the suits." She shuddered. She didn't want to think about that. "It's not just the...rökorm? Not just that, there's others...." Glancing at Taliya for approval, she flipped through the book until she found the page with the dog lizards. "Vaz-ra. There were these too, Kensen and the other man were fighting them. That's happened already, or is still. Sometimes they were fine. But sometimes more came, and there were too many. Even for them. They got hurt. And then...sometimes there was something else too, that's the ones when it was really bad, but I didn't get a good look, I just knew it was bad."

She looked up at Taliya. "I just want to find my parents. That's all," she said in a small, solemn voice. "Fighting is bad. I don't like it. I know sometimes you have to, like if monsters are after you, but I don't understand why people are bad like that. It's not right. Especially for Magi. Magi are supposed to help people, but I can't even do that." She frowned at the book and flipped back to the page with the rökorm, then looked at Taliya again. "Would it be okay if...I tried something?"
@Oak7ree So...maybe the reason no one expects the Spanish Inquisition is because they never turn up? =P
