Stiff, unyielding Aspen with a core of Dragon Heartstring โ in true, patriotic fashion, one from a young Hebridean Black. It is an exceptionally long wand at 14 and ยฝ inches. "Presumably you'll grow into it," is what the wand-maker said, but whether that's true or not...

The Dark Mark. Morgan doesn't even need a moment to think about what it might be, he is
terrified of being subservient to anyone and go insane enough to be branded by some long-dead Dark Lord. His boggart presents itself as himself, pulling up his sleeve to reveal the tattoo. Thankfully the
riddikulus charm is a thing that exists.

Morgan is both very tall for his age at 6'2" and rail-thin, his body disproportionate from a recent growth spurt so it doesn't yet suit him. He looks as if a strong breeze would blow him over despite his impeccable posture and tendency to look down his nose at others. Notably he is fair-haired with ghostly pale skin (marred only by a few moles dotted around) and has dark brown eyes. Morgan would have dimples, if he smiled more often โ or at all.
In terms of dress, Morgan is rarely seen without his outer wizard robes; however, like many wizards and witches his school clothes underneath are similar to what Muggles wear
except better. From childhood, he has had the necessary self-awareness to know that good personal hygiene is important โ his Dad said as much โ so he always smells faintly of lilacs. Outwith his uniform, he wears jumpers (usually rose and gold because they compliment his colouring) and occasionally dons a green one to show some house pride even though it makes him look dreadfully drained.

Most would expect a kid raised with a grand total of zero friends to be shy, timid, fearful; but not Morgan. Morgan, who grew up doing mostly everything โ from Quiddich, to learning about history, to baking with the House Elves โ friendless and alone, somehow managed to become an extrovert, someone who loves the spotlight and loves the sound of his own voice. He doesn't really know how to interact with other people, and the few pureblood kids he'd been introduced to pre-Hogwarts were quickly alienated by his personality. His overall air of smugness tends to offend others, a side-effect of growing up a precocious child and turning into a know-it-all adolescent.
His father โ a proud, boastful man and devoutly opposed to anything dark and evil โ made sure Morgan knew exactly what his brother's faults were: he was sorted into Ravenclaw rather than Gryffindor or Hufflepuff, and he of course became a dark wizard. More than anything, Morgan fears following that same path to his father's disappointment, which is somewhat ironic given that he's already halfway there. There is a line where voraciously studying all kinds of magic has to include the unsavory stuff, or at least, that's how Morgan justifies his texts from Knocturn Alley.
Because of the large age difference between Morgan and practically every other member of his family, he grew up in a world of adults, albeit shunted to the side a lot of the time. His Dad made sure he knew a lot about the Magical World before he got his Hogwarts letter, and one of his favourite pastimes was learning about Wizarding History. His tutor (because there was no way the Pryde heir was going to a Muggle school) ensured his handwriting was excellent and Morgan takes great joy in ensuring
everything in his life is neat and organised. He has study planners, diaries, calendars, and mastered the
tempus charm very early on.
Somehow, Morgan has managed to become a master of backhanded compliments without even realising it; always content to pull trumps on someone when it comes to telling a story or congratulating them for an achievement. He can be a bit obstinate with his opinions, rigidly refusing to change them, and even takes pleasure in arguing โ "debating" โ others, so long as he's the one considered 'right' in the end. Sometimes he even plays the role of Devil's Advocate just for the thrill of lauding his own ability to talk circles around others. It's no surprise that he wants to have some role in the wizarding judicial system.
Still, he isn't without good points. Morgan is honest, both to others and himself (which could be half the problem) and is quite well aware why people tend not to like him
thank you very much. He is studious, with a thirst for knowledge and power and a desire to share it wherever possible, and it goes beyond books and learning โ he has been brought up to be a hard-worker at whatever it is he chooses to do, even at the detriment of his own health. Lastly, as someone who has been lonely for most of his life, when he finds someone willing to stick around, Morgan can be very loyal. While he does love gossip, he can keep the secret of someone he trusts to the grave.
Clearly, Morgan also has a flair for the dramatic.

The Prydes have a long history dating back several centuries, and they've always been proud to claim that their earliest recorded ancestor was a Muggleborn โ supposedly one who brought the surname into the Wizarding World. Even so, they have not had a family member marry one of impure blood in just about the same length of time, thus they fall under the category of 'traditional'. Since the World War Two (and the wizarding war versus Grindelwald running in parallel) and through the First and Second Wizarding Wars, they have been staunch Light supporters and even members of the Order of the Phoenix fighting the good fight against Voldemort. Their Mirewyld Manor in the north-west of Scotland is as large as any of the English purebloods' ancestral homes, if not nearly as prestigious.
That being said, Morgan is the sole heir to his family's fortune. His father was in his late fifties when he was born, and his mother (a Beauxbatons alumni of twenty-five) was his father's second wife. He has one brother, Irvine, who is spoken of scathingly in hushed tones, almost as if his parents are afraid others might hear of the scandal. Other than the fear of disappointing his dear old dad that pervaded his entire life, Morgan's childhood was fairly normal. He played Quidditch, mostly by himself; read books on wizarding history, mostly by himself; and, of course, he learned everything he had to know about magic from his father, who wanted nothing more than a son to continue on the failing family name. What he doesn't know is that Morgan has been keeping in contact with Irvine, who is twenty seven years older than him and currently in Azkaban through letters.
When it came to his sorting, years ago now, Morgan was dumped into Slytherin โ no matter how much he tried to argue with the hat for Hufflepuff or Gryffindor, it wasn't budging, because apparently he was just
dead wrong for those two houses. He received a Howler the next day and, by the day after that, put on a brave face and got stuck in. By second year he was still a little despondent over being Sorted, enough so to quit Quidditch entirely in favour of studying and doing well, but eventually he found a new extra-curricular activity: duelling.
And no Pryde was going to go without, even if he was 'so totally evil' according to his father. Morgan had a tutor during the summers for a time (because Mirewyld Manor's wards were thick and it wasn't like the Ministry could tell who was casting the spells, now) which was enough for him to receive a thirst for success. Morgan resolved himself to do well in the duelling club in Hogwarts so as to go onto it as a possible career later in life โ especially if he didn't make it as an auror, or some kind of judge.

Morgan is the Head of the Duelling Club for Slytherin House, which is the only role of responsibility he was willing to take.
Someone once told him his spellcasting was 'pretty' in duels, which may or may not be true. He does use a lot of dazzling flashes and distractions.
May or may not have been a part of a smuggling operation to get firewhisky in for thirsty teens. Will deny it if asked.
