Personality

Want to get to know Tomas? Good luck getting through the barrage of bad puns, one-liners, and other fun jokes first. That is if he'll even give you the time of day while he's busy "perfecting his craft". The failing comedian seldom has time to talk to people, there are so many jokes out there waiting to be written! Who cares if you need him to save some princess? That's, like, really not important when he just had the best idea. The only reason he's tagging along for this in the first place is for the sights — they'll inspire more jokes, duh. No matter how you feel about his obsession with comedy, you can't deny Tomas' ignorance makes him incredibly fearless. He's the type to rush through a dungeon and scoff at the 8 foot monster glaring at him, because he's got places to be and things to do, who has time for undead bullshit? Those people 5 feet behind shouting at him to do things just don't understand there's a great knock-knock joke to be made.

Class

Archer; bows and arrows are his specialty. Also his only-ty.

Strengths

Archery training— He can shoot straight, nock an arrow well, draw his bow with adequate strength and even brace a crude bow to okay results. He has significantly worse luck with crossbows, however.

Survival skills— While he's no Bear Grylls (who's Bear Grylls?), he can at least fight off a natural death from starvation, infection or thirst should he ever be lost in the wilderness. Fighting off an angry bear that just saw him taking her food is a whole different matter.

Charismatic— Even if he opens his mouth shortly after and shatters the illusion, it can't be denied that Tomas' natural confidence makes him certifiably charismatic. When he's not spewing 10 jokes every half hour, that is.

Weaknesses

Terrible comedian— Tomas' lack of any shred of humour is most likely going to get him killed one day. He's already crossed "severely injured in a dark alley by angry patrons" off that list.

Ignorant— The failing comedian would probably be a lot better at what little skills he possesses if he actually cared about them. To him, becoming the best comedian in the world is all that matters. He's got a long way to go.

What were you doing when the princess was kidnapped?

The Founder's Festival was Tomas' perfect opportunity to finally build up an audience and wisecrack his way to fame. He had the perfect jokes-so-funny-because-they're-true written up about the royal family, and was about to begin his performance to the side of the street when some asshole bandits caused a commotion while kidnapping the princess! His audience practically vapourised in an instant (clearly due to the guards faintly shouting in the distance and not his jokes) and the comedian was left fuming. Needless to say, a mission to go after the bandits and get his revenge was an extremely appealing concept to him. Oh, yeah, and save the princess, whatever.

High Casual Rant

@Mara yeah I see what you mean now my bad. I mean it's kinda dumb because advanced RP's playerbase is like pretty dead compared to when it was full of elitist snob (if they ever existed, because I certainly don't think so lmao). So that argument doesn't really make sense to me. But there are like numerous factors that can go into this, like intimidation or laziness (huh i can write 20 paragraphs i just dont WANNA spend more than 20 minutes on my post...............), lack of time or whatever.

None of that goes for high cas because you're essentially writing at advanced levels while making it artificially casual, but that doesn't even work because most likely you're still spending the same amount of time on the rp lol

Pretty much this. Whatever reasons they have, High Casual GMs don't wanna put their roleplays in Advanced even when they're basically just Advanced roleplays in a different subforum. I get RPG has always been lax about which subforums roleplays are put in but it's dumb. If more High Casual people just made the move to Advanced then it'd be more active and they'd have the "Casual audience" they wanted.

okok I'll try and clarify

People have said that they use High Casual as a way to merge 'Advanced expectations' with the 'Casual audience/atmosphere', typically implying (or outright stating) that Advanced is full of elitist snobs, which isn't true at all. In my eyes, this just means they use the High Casual tag because they're scared of or intimidated by Advanced's userbase. My point about the descriptions is that people also try to say Advanced expects posts to be pages long across the board (and Advanced posts can get quite lengthy), when in reality the bare minimum for an Advanced roleplay is "generally two paragraphs, but usually longer". Of course, the vagueness of that description can easily mean that both sides of the coin are right

While I don't necessarily agree with a term such as coward, I do think it's because of unnecessary intimidation.
