My Very Brief Bio

Male, 33 years old. (I'm even more dead than before.)

Likes (other than writing and roleplaying): I'm into all genres of music. I love to cook. I love the outdoors, and walking through the park near my house. (Yes, really.) I read a lot of thriller/mystery novels. And I usually watch seasonal anime. (Or cooking shows. Because Western Media provides even fewer things that are worth watching.)

But as for my many other neglected hobbies, I've played basically every sport. (Soccer and Bowling being my favorite of the bunch.) And I'm trying to play more video games. (Going through my never-ending Steam library.) Plus, I've dabbled in making electronic & metal music, and I used to play a number of instruments. (Guitar, French Horn, etc.)

Hope you have a wonderful day!

Crimes of Grindlewald was a piece of shit garbage movie and JK Rowling needs to be stopped while there's still something to salvage of her trainwreck of an EU.

Is that from the view point of liking the book and because it's a terrible adaption? Or just because it's a terrible product generally? (Only reason I ask, because it's a sequel of novel adaption. So I can't imagine why you'd watch it otherwise without external knowledge, or somehow enjoying the first movie.)

On a separate note, there's literally nothing I care about watching that's coming out in theaters. But big surprise the fiftieth Robin Hood movie wasn't liked by audiences or critics. Just googling "Upcoming Movies" makes me dread the release of more movies than not.
@Frizan I know I'm just one cog in the machine, but I'd personally recommend not extending it. You gave everyone at least half a month. If people can't write and post something by then, it should go to the people that complied with the rules. If deadlines or guidelines are made in the first place, those things should really be followed...

I can at least promise that the contest won't be uncontested.
@tobiax Remember you have the header thingy too. (That Tundra made.) :3

Hope you all had/have a good thanksgiving weekend.

The burning star’s golden shine bathed the lucid lake in radiance, sharing its splendor with all that frolic happily underneath its reach. Peaceful summer mating melodies chirped by sparrows atop the American elm where Izzy Ivanowski shaded, combined with a dark hat that gave her cat ears and goggles that made her an exception to the rule. Unlike the birds seeking a profound partnership, she was undergoing an analysis under careful consideration. A mere split-second decision could drastically alter her reality and those that surrounded her. She leaned in while staring intensely at the rippling water as she sat like a pretzel with the tenting fingers tapping...nah, drowning around the other kids wouldn’t prove to be a valuable use of her time. Immediately hopping up and crouched like a frog, then leaping forward with her elbows and knees sticking the landing as she lied on her stomach. Her feet swaying through the air gently as the breeze hitting the branches. Nature for her was an inquisitive focus on a pitch-black screen, a meaningless empty void until controlled by its user by pushing the power button. Izzy's eyes lit up like the laptop, soon reflecting on her reflected image viewing her long-messy hair as she casually brushed it back. Double clicking on her “Projects” folder in the top-right corner and opening the only file inside it, the program showered with binary in yellow text despite the lack of clouds on the horizon. Her fingers danced upon the keyboard, rocking her head to the satisfying rhythm of clicks. She considered it like a pianist playing in a concerto, treating every line of code like an array of notes needed to be perfected. Perhaps, unbeknownst to an outsider’s likely perspective of spotting a hyperactive oddball whose self-isolated herself from socializing and instead choose to fiddle with technology, they’d never imagine this was her state of euphoria, probably because of her emotionless expression.

It was still unclear whether this an opportunity for adventure, or just a punishment for her purposely sporadic misbehavior. But her adoptive parents determined that since her younger sibling would be going camp, the sole soul she regularly conversed with, she too could use a little freedom and more importantly some similarly aged company. Persuaded by a soft tone compromise allowing her to bring the laptop her father bought her, a sticker pasted on the front cover displaying her full name, plus a few books from the mother’s library that were quite advanced for her age. Though even with those commodities, her uncertainty lead to inner-anxiety being suddenly cast out like a fishing lure ready to attract piranhas to devour her whole. Learning to let herself relax within a week and be content for the remaining weeks she had left, trying not to think about missing her brother too much...

Izzy concentrated on the progress bar slowly inching closer to completion, noticing another boy’s whistling and heading back to their cabins before looking up at the darkness looming over her. The calm before the storm caused her to sit up straight with legs slightly spread out, waiting — just — long — enough... Standing up to close and pack her laptop in her backpack resting by the tree. Hearing the others calling out, she rushed to catch up with the rest of them. Discovering today was no ordinary day as a blinding beam streaked across the sky and a strange device materialized in matter of moments in-between her cupped palms. She gawked at the gadget and blinked in thought.

“What’s this? Some type of miniature remote digital apparatus?” Taking notice of the peculiar symbols that she stroked with her thumbs. “This doesn’t appear to resemble any computer code that I’ve ever seen...” Her ears struck with the discordant screech of static coming from the laptop, she quickly pulled it out and opened it up seeing the screen began to warp. “Huh? A virus?” She held down the power and tried forcing a shutdown, but realized she was being encompassed in a golden glow. The ethereal caressing of her senses matched the heavenly aesthetic, including her ascension that felt like it was guiding her toward the vast colored spectrum above with the rest of the group. She held on tightly to that laptop as everything disappeared in a flash, followed by an abrupt transition that altered the entire landscape. A bewildering mystery that created clarity about one thing; this was definitely an adventure. Wondering if she was simply dreaming as every tenuous grasp at a rational explanation failed her mind. Her first thought softly escaping her lips...

“Asombroso...”
Related to the topic of board and card games I was in several school clubs in middle school. (High school didn't have clubs.) A general gaming club, with many of such games to choose from. Though I can't tell you much about it, because I hardly remember it. I did play a lot of master clue and won literally every single game.

And possibly slightly more embarrassing, depending on how you see I guess. I was also in drama club. Because acting! The first part I played was meant to be this very serious role that I turned funny because I used a very Irish accent. And they just rolled with it. So I got everyone laughing by talking about somebodies murder, so that was fun. I also learned that I could do the best blood curling scream as a man and a high pitch shriek of a women. (better than any of the others in the play.) Though the ones running it cut like, half of everyone's lines. Little by little, which basically everyone found annoying. I believe the one that got me to stop was when they switched the people who lead it. As they made a bunch of people at lunch, including those not even interested in doing it, try out for one particular part. And afterward they gave a bunch of people, me included, background character positions with like one line, or no lines at all. And young me said, fuck that shit. (To be fair despite probably being one of the more vocal students, I wasn't alone in giving their part up, including people that got main roles and didn't really want to do them.) I honestly don't remember hearing anyone talking about that play. I don't even know if it actually was done in the end.
Frankly drama makes nearly all genres in roleplaying far more interesting. I'd much rather have a little angst than something bland and flavorless. The worst thing I often see is character's not matching their history and descriptions well enough. A tragic backstory is one thing, honestly, no truly interesting character hasn't faced their fair share of problems. But if your character acts like they have absolutely no mental hang-ups and never changes in mood appropriate to the situation? I'm calling bullshit on the believability of the character. The biggest problem is seeing half-assed in-character roleplaying, it often shocks me how much I see the few who even remember their CS's well enough to follow them. Let alone making their mental state and actions clear.

But this is about cliches and particular things popular in roleplaying that I'm tired of? Well it's no genre, no trope, no particular habit in general. My opinion on that is that anything can be made good or bad depending on the effort and interest put forward. It's the ever-growing toothless nature of roleplaying. When did it become so sterile and afraid of risk and self-destruction? Nobody has roleplays where people die willingly to enhance the plot of the story. You can't let yourself get hurt or injured to any real degree, even mental scarred characters often just act like grumpy teenagers most times, instead of crossing lines of morality and sanity. You can't be spontaneous in fight scenes. You can't fail. You can never "god-mod", which often just turns into, I did not think of a way to challenge that creature/person. Overpowered characters when written appropriately, can be incredibly enjoyable and interesting ones. In what realistic world has power and wealth differences that aren't often vast? People just seem afraid to push any boundaries. Just roleplaying freely and assuming everyone is there to have fun and create/interact in a world is so rarely done anymore.

Just create your worlds and let people create a story together through creative freedom. Why is this so hard?
Huzzah, when literally all my plans fall into ruin. Write instead! If all else fails, bring on the chaos! That's what I say.

@Hekazu So did you want more detail with exactly where I've been going, as far as pushing my plotline and the general story along? I can probably write up a quick few paragraph summary.
