If there is one thing about being raised with two older brothers, it is that you'll have to learn to fend for yourself. Especially if you are an Ironborn. Today, this has translated into Syla being quite the brawler, substituting a man's brute strength for knowing just where to hit and being light on her feet. She's a noted dirty fighter, too, in order to compensate for the lack of testosterone. Also, being a fighter, she was taught how to fight in combat beyond just her fists. Her preference is with a sword and shield.

Syla is an Ironborn, true and true. She's cold and hardened to many things with a fierce temper and pride. She aspires after her rolemodel, Asha Greyjoy, who had also previously defied the traditional gender laws of the Iron Islands, even leading men into battle. Syla is ambitious and desires a lot out of life, namely title and land. She's also rowdy, tough, and an open flirt with other women, which generally doesn't work out in her favor. Many harbor contempt for her "sinful" reputation but at this point, Syla is beyond caring.

Seeing as the Greyjoy's are still bitter about their denied kingship, Bailin sent what he considered to be a non-serious candiate. Syla. Overall, this was probably the best move he could make. He could send off his landless daughter and earn something in King's Landing without running the risk of losing a son, or more importantly an heir.
Still, one has to admit that even she does the Greyjoy name proud. Ever since she was a kid, she was always one to follow her brothers around. She always preferred the iron to the frilly cloth of typical ladies and she was always at least tolerated for it. So her father, Bailin, trained her alongside her brothers, who were and still are the most important people in her life. But Bailin knew the day would come where his daughter would want to lead ships, just like her brothers. Thankfully he was presented an out before Syla's coming-of-age and sent her off to King's Landing to serve as the Greyjoy ward.

Robyn was given up as a ward younger than most, when she was only four, since her uncle had no idea what to do with her after her father died and when someone mentioned something or another that the Baratheon's were willing to take on a ward, she was sent there. She barely remembers Pyke but one of her earliest memories is of Lya being born. Lya was entrusted to Robyn from a young age, and is the reason that Robyn became a knight. Growing up she became more Baratheon than Greyjoy. It's why she got the name the Iron Storm.

Willam grew up as the only son to one of the most powerful men in Westeros, as such it'd be an understatement to say he felt a little bit of pressure from his father. So he was trained day in and day out to succeed his father, though Willam didn't really enjoy any of it as he's grown older he finds the skills more and more invaluable. He was absolutely ecstatic when his younger sister was born and is deeply devoted to her, parting from her has been one of the most painful things the young man has done.

Talea is an expert sword fighter, having learnt since the age of 12 from her father. She is a master of the water dance, and has learned to adapt it to Westerosi styles of fighting over the past 3 years, training against the Lannister guards. She is also relatively sharp minded, being able to think quickly in the heat of battle. Talea can be sharp tongued at times, always having a retort or witty remark on her lips. Though Talea means well, she does not understand the social politics of Westerosi nobility, not knowing when to be quiet and how to address them. Talea was born to two very happy parents. Well, happy until they found out how much trouble she could cause. Her father enjoyed her curiosity and antics, saying that it showed an inquisitive mind. Her mother was less approving, fearing for the safety of their child. When she was 12, Talea was found brandishing her father’s sword. Her mother was horrified by this and demanded that Aggio reprimanded the girl. Aggio, on the other hand, had never been more excited in his life. He started to teach Talea the ways of a water dancer, the girl showing great potential. Life continued on normally for the family over the next six years, until tragedy struck. Aggio feel deeply ill, and the family could not afford the medicine. Talea searched everywhere she could for the money, but she could find none. Until one day, she heard news of visitors in Braavos. A Westerosi noble family, rumoured to incredibly wealthy. So Talea took her pleas to Lord Garric Lannister of Casterly Rock. She begged him to help save her father, saying she would do anything, offering the services of her sword, telling him she would complete any task for him, even offering up her body for use, as long as he could save her father. He agreed on one condition. Talea would return to Westeros and serve as his son and heir’s bodyguard. If she did this, Garric promised that he would pay for the medicine, and that her family would never suffer again. Knowing there was nothing else she could do, Talea agreed.
Initially, Talea remained distant from the 15 year old boy, staying silent when talked to, and refusing to do anything but guard. That was until one day, when she saw him sparring with a guard. Prince Verynn Martell is the current ruler of Dorne and Lord of Sunspear; however, his claim to the throne is often disputed in whispers among the royals outside of court. When his elder brother, Dovan Martell, failed to give birth to a suitable heir, he abdicated power to Verynn at the behest of his advisors, lest he leave behind a power gap upon his death. Ever since, Verynn has been a fair and just prince, as his forefathers before him, and steadfast ally of House Targaryen. In the end, however, he is simply another prince to occupy the Sunspear throne. Gabriel's father lacks any outstanding qualities that make him appear strong or resilient in the face of an adversary. It is this very absence of a "true prince's" qualities that make some in Dorne believe he is ill-equipped to even handle the pesky pirates of "King" Doreo.

Allusica Martell makes up for her husband's shortcomings by being the charismatic and ruthless politician at the negotiating tables. As is expected of Dornish women, she is also an able-bodied warrior in her own right and will insist upon leading the vanguard in any skirmish with dissidents of the state (be they rebels of the Iron Throne, or miscreants within Dorne). On the downside, Allusica is not of Dornish descent. Rather, she is a noble from greater Westeros, chosen in an arrangement long ago. Her fair skin and blue eyes were passed on as dominant traits to Gabriel; thus, placing a heavy burden on his shoulders as appearing to be an outsider.

Gabriel is an exceptional fast learner, particularly in any academic pursuit. History and politics are his favorite studies, despite his youth; and he uses what knowledge he can muster in his favor when communicating with other lords in matters of state. He is never one to shy away from a good discussion of philosophy or the arts, but religion is a more delicate subject for him. His tendency to value free thinking and progressive academia runs counter to the religious dogma he hears preached by those that practice any sort of faith.

In spite of his intellect (or, rather, because of it), Gabriel's cynicism draws out a pessimistic world view that can cripple his faith in, not only himself, but also mankind as a whole. This particular weakness of the mind often plagues him with preconceived notions of others, standing in the way of any attempt he may make to socialize on a normal level. In brief, he can be a tad rude or come off as cold. Adding to his introverted image, Gabriel is also not the most agile prince of Dorne. The Martells have always prided themselves on their physical abilities and combative prowess. The young man may have all the training his forefathers have received, but he lacks their gut and brawn. Finally, he has an aversion to cold climates. This was discovered by him falling gravely ill during a trip to the North, when his father wanted him to see all of Westeros at an early age to better prepare him for his destiny as a future crowned prince. Harsh coughing and wheezing kept him bedridden until he was able to return to the warmer climate of the south. Dorne's wisest maesters concluded that he susceptible to weakened lungs (asthma, basically) in colder climates.

As previously mentioned, although Gabriel is a weaker fighter than other Dornishmen, he is still highly trained in their signature arms. His talent with the spear isn't nearly as commendable as his talent with the bow, however; which is possibly the one weapon that he is truly gifted with. Gabriel Martell began making a name for himself early on after he turned eight years old and assisted Sunspear's master maester in solving an arithmetic equation that would be used to develop a new telescope for the Citadel's astronomers. The boy had a keen grasp on numbers and could see patterns without having to touch a quill. Upon hearing of this, Gabriel's mother insisted he taken under the maester's wing as an apprentice in every conceivable academic study. In five years, he had demonstrated unparalleled progress and was a welcomed new voice among his father's close advisors. Prince Mikael Martell, the son of Trystane Martell, brother of Nymeria Targaryen and the youngest Prince of Dorne.
Prince Mikael could have rivalled his great-uncle Oberyn Martell in his lustful tendencies; his escapades with various partners led him to sire many bastards, all of whom he took into his home, along with their mothers, and cared for lovingly. However, he could not simply pledge his love to only one partner and thus, never thought it fair to marry.
Mikael is looked upon strangely by his more noble and reserved cousins, is very close to his sister and her husband, and loves all of his nieces and nephews. He is a passionate man, both in love and in war, delighting in combat and excitement as much as in family and flesh. Many of these traits he passed on to Toran, who greatly resembles his father. Mikael lives his life for himself; far from the line of Dornish succession, he is mostly content to leave the stresses of politics to his cousins and offer advice if called upon. This “Pirate King” does not intimidate him much, though if he were to become a problem for his family and for Dorne, Mikael would be first in the vanguard to cut him down.

She had been accompanying her father to Sunspear on business and quickly caught the eye of Prince Mikael. From their passion came Toran, who would be Mikael’s third child and first son. From the moment Dardana had shared that she was with child, Mikael took her in as well as any wife and promised to care for them for their entire lives. He made good on his promise, and Dardana and Toran have been living the lives of royalty since.
Dardana is a clever beauty, who pays little mind to Mikael’s non-monogamous tendencies and tends to similarly indulge herself. As a mother she is watchfully fierce; she offers advice when she is needed, and knows when to leave well enough alone. She is aware that her son must make his own choices, but offers council when she knows those choices are unwise.
She gets along well with the mothers of Mikael’s other children and treats those other children like her own. Theirs may be an odd family, but they are thick as thieves and fiercely protective of their own, by blood or otherwise.

He revels in his large family, considering himself a son with many mothers and throwing the notion of “half” siblings to the wind.

Having taken an old Dornish tradition and made it new, Toran is a skilled acrobat, using creative movement and taking advantage of his environment to bring great agility and speed into combat. He has a tendency not only to use his acrobatic skill to be an effective warrior, but also to impress onlookers by turning the battle into an impressive acrobatic spectacle. He has been a crowd pleaser at tournaments since he first began using the technique, and loves the unique flare it lends his fighting. His battle technique consists mostly of artfully dodging attacks until his opponent grows tired or frustrated, and then going offensive. These techniques work together to create a greatly unpredictable and entertaining fighting style.
Toran also has a great affinity for animals, going so far as to have taken Toruk, a deadly young desert viper, as a pet and companion. Rumours circulate among those who have watched Toran with the snake, that he is immune to his venom; many have seen the snake bite him (mostly by accident, if Toran is trying to stop him from biting someone else) and walk away unharmed and unconcerned. Rather than dip his blade in poison like Oberyn before him, Toran has taken a more upfront approach to combat: Fire. With the help of Dalia, his maester-in-training sister, he has learned to use special ores and powders to throw fire at his opponents. This is mostly for show and to confuse the enemy; this fire quickly extinguishes itself in the air. An accident while training with fire years ago resulted in a patchwork of jagged burns on his arms, torso and part of his right-side jaw. Luckily, due to skilled court maesters, Toran healed with little more disfiguration than pale scar tissue, which contrasts starkly with the rich brown of his skin. Still, this interest in fire borders on obsessive and he continues to train long and hard to bend it to his will.
W E A K N E S S E S
Toran is nothing if not prideful, and it can sometimes get in the way. His otherwise low temper can be sparked in an instant by a slight against his family or his nature as a bastard, though he is capable of hiding his loathing behind an insincere smile and another name added to his shit list when the stakes are as high as they are in King’s Landing.
Toran’s lust, both for people and for life in general, rivals his father’s, and he’s been known to shirk responsibilities in favour of pursuing his hedonistic goal of enjoying himself as much as possible before he dies. He is sinfully irresponsible in this regard, which will undoubtedly turn to bite him in King’s Landing.
Finally, Toran wears his emotions on his sleeve. Far from stoic, Toran feels everything deeply, be it voracious delight or crushing sorrow. He despises all the sneaking and backstabbing of upper Westerosi court, and sees no merit in trickery or underhandedness. This is the type of quality that can make a weak player in the game of thrones, but he holds to his (albeit few and sideways) morals nonetheless.

Toran has taken to the challenge of fighting with a staff or dagger, but also adores the history and fluidity of the Dornish spear. His answer? A weapon that can be all three! His dark, strong wooden staff, short for a spear at only six feet long, bears ornate copper and steel inlay along its length, like a coiled snake that shines like flame in the sunlight. This inlay gives way to a heavy steel cap on one end, acting as the foot of the staff. The opposite end is also capped with steel, in a jagged pattern.
Toran’s dagger is a wicked seven-inch affair worn on his belt. The glossy, black dragonglass blade is wide and curved, wickedly sharp on both sides with an edge like curved broken glass, as dragonglass blades tend to be. The hilt and handle are made from the same wood and metal inlay as the staff, including an inlaid snake’s head baring its fangs. The handle, however, is hollow with a steel pattern on the inside (corresponding to that on the staff) and a spring. These inner fixtures act as the counterbalance to the blade and as an interlocking mechanism for connecting the staff and dagger to form a spear.
This connection can be made in one fluid, well-practiced move either before or during battle. In this form, it is clear that the weighted foot of the staff (which is somewhat imbalanced on its own) acts as a counterbalance for the spear. The weapon is of Toran's own design; he even helped the armourer shape it.

Toran is firstly and most predominantly charming. A savvy ladies man (well, anyone’s man, really) he is most often found enjoying himself in some way or another, be it training, lounging, or endlessly flirting. His soul is as light as his feet, and he has few cares in the world. His anger bears striking likeness to a whip; fast, loud and painful, but gone as quickly as it came. Like any self-respecting Dornishman, he is deeply rooted to his family. He believes that kindness is never wasted, though he knows the value of some well-placed acidity.
Brutally honest, Toran's straightforward look at the world has been known to get him into trouble with more uptight nobles who are used to the fancy words and sugar-coated reports of court life. While he isn't entirely clueless on when it is best just to say nothing, Toran tends to err on the side of speaking, an easy comment or jibe always on the tip of his tongue.
Despite his abundant pride and confidence, Toran is still somewhat insecure about his nature as a bastard. Whereas in Dorne nobody questions it, in King's Landing it's much more of a slight against him. This doesn't bother him at home in Dorne, but elsewhere deep down he is self-conscious and sensitive about it (despite knowing that it is not his fault and being encouraged by his family that it is far from a bad thing) and secretly hopes that someday, his father will legitimize him. If asked about such hopes, he would fervently deny them. Nonetheless, he can't say the stigma doesn't get to him. Even with the Queen as his aunt, he still feels every sideways look, hears every underhanded comment about the Martell bastard who likes to pretend he's royalty. He tries his best to follow his father's advice and ignore it, "Wear it like armour," as Oberyn's Lannister friend had said, but there's only so much a teenager can handle.
H I S T O R Y
Born the bastard son of Prince Mikael Martell, Toran grew up with a life unheard of for bastards in any other country in Westeros. Where a bastard in King’s Landing or Winterfell would face disgrace and shun, he enjoyed nobility and luxury, a large family and boastful wealth. With his family’s standing greatly improved after King Daerys took a Martell (Toran's beloved aunt, no less) as his Queen, his life was easy and relatively free of court drama. He spent his days enjoying the best food and wine, learning and training with court Maesters and fine combat teachers, and endlessly flirting with whatever beauty happened to catch his eye. As his father and Queen Nymeria were thick as thieves, Toran travelled to King's landing often throughout his life and is very familiar with his Targaryen uncle and cousins.
When King Daerys sent a summons for the heirs of the great houses to gather, Toran's father saw a great opportunity. Some clever placement and a few letters to Queen Nymeria got Toran a seat at the heir's table, albeit formally as a guard to his cousin Gabriel. Toran isn't overly fond of his position as a guard (it was so Northern to send a bastard to guard the important children) but he knows his father means nothing by it, and looks forward to seeing his family and forming some connections with the other wards.

She's more elegant than her brother, and when she can she will talk her way out of a fight. Like her brother she cares about her people, and does everything she can to help them.

Lyanna grew up vastly ignored by most the household. She was a female who wasn't particularly pretty nor did she seek out the attention. An absolute giant of a man standing at 6'7", that and very broad shoulders gives the man a silhouette to be feared. Brandon has a hard look to him, the coal black hair of the Baratheons is neatly trimmed and combed, as is his young, but still impressive beard. He has a hard, square chin with a rather resolute mouth. His dark blue eyes are cold as steel and shadowed by his ever prominent brow.

Brandon's father, Lord Paramount Rodrick Baratheon of the Stormlands, is a sad, drunk alcoholic of a man and has been for years. Causing his relationship with his son to become very strained. While under the effects of drink Rodrick is an angry, cruel, and cynical man who berates his servants and mocks his advisors. Though he wouldn't dare raise a hand to his son as he knows the boy could easily snap him in twain.
Mother
Lady Priscilla of the Stormlands died when Brandon was three. The boy doesn't remember much about her but the stories he's heard from those who knew her indicate she was a kind and noble woman. And when she was alive his father was much happier.

Strengths
Brandon, being a large, muscular man is of course incredibly strong. Brandon is also incredibly gifted in all forms of combat, from pure martial prowess to tactics and warfare. He's also very resilient, known to be able to take very bad injuries and come back stronger for it. Brandon has a great poker face, able to mask his emotions no matter the situation with something he calls his "Lord Face."
Weaknesses
Brandon isn't as agile as some, his bulk makes speed a hard thing. Brandon also has a tendency to say exactly what's on his mind, not caring for manners or polite conversation. He also has no use at all for intrigue and in fact regards the thing as a cowards game, though he can't deny it's results at times.

Brandon grew up with a lot of pressure, from his father, his father's advisors, and every noble in the Stormlands. Everyone was either praying he'd meet his death as he was the sole, male, heir, or become a mindless pawn they could use. Growing up in such an environment caused Brandon to read fantastical stories of heroes rescuing maidens and fighting dragons. As such Brandon took to those tales and strove to be that kind of person.
When he was fifteen Brandon took place in his first tournament and in his first melee. He excelled. The loud clanging and clattering of steel with the boy at the center earned him the name Stormbringer. As he grew Brandon idolized the White Knights of the Kingsguard who, to him, were all dashing heroes giving their lives for King and Country. As such he wanted to join them, but as he grew older he learned how that would never happen. Yet he's contented himself with the fact that he can serve his subjects as a fair and just lord.
When he was fifteen Brandon took place in his first tournament and in his first melee. He excelled. Lycoris
Lycoris stands at a mere 5’5”, rather unimpressive by Westerosi standards, with a leanly muscled build. Needless to say, he isn’t the most intimidating of figures, but what lies within remains a far cry from his exterior. He carries himself with the tepid arrogance of a sphinx, despite his very ethnicity marking him an outsider. Most of the time, he is seen draped in elegant robes of red, a sparkling ruby ring that adorning his left hand. Most striking of all, however, is the colour of his hair - as red as fire, contrasting his black, kohl-lined eyes. Amidst the sea of brunettes and blondes, it draws attention to him, perhaps more than he’d like. His facial features are delicate and elfin, dusted with a subtle hint of femininity. Smooth skin is marred by a maze of scars, with a few tattoos lending their presence. There’s a tattoo of a flame branding his forehead, and a smaller, less noticeable one of a teardrop underneath his right eye.

Lycoris doesn’t remember much about him, save for the scent of sea salt that’d lingered on his skin long after he’d returned from a long day at sea, and the look on his face as marauding slavers drove a pike through his neck.

Qing Na - A kind, portly woman who spent her days tending to her children and selling the fish her husband caught at the market. Lycoris remembers peeking out from behind her skirts as she fended off haggling customers. Her fate, however, remains unclear to Lycoris, though he holds little hope in his heart that she still lives.

Strengths
- Lycoris is a capable manipulator, and has a knack for subtly influencing others in order to get what he wants.
- Long-term consequences never escape his perception. There isn’t a moment he acts without having thought about how it might affect him in the future.
- As is characteristic of a red priest, Lycoris occasionally finds himself struck with prophetic visions, forecasting events of the past, present, and future. That said, however, these visions are very are often vague or misleading, and it takes no small amount of thought to make sense of them.
- Finally, he’s capable of evoking fire, though it’s only to a minor degree - like kindling a torch or a cold brazier.
Weaknesses
- Apart from worshippers of R’hllor, and the particularly open-minded, Lycoris has a hard time getting others to listen to his advice and opinions. Despite the slow and steady passage of time, he finds that Westeros still remains wary of anything close to sorcery.
- He isn’t overtly confrontational, as he’s never received any training in the art of war. He’s really no good in a fight, and you’ll never find him facing down an armoured knight in battle. The only way he can ever hope to win is through underhanded means, which fortunately, is something he has no qualms about.
- When he truly does take an interest in something (or someone), he puts all of himself into it, and momentarily forgets about almost everything else. He’s very often obsessive about the things he does, and the people he chooses to follow, so he can be rather inflexible in that regard.

- Watching jousts. Painfully superficial, but what can you do? It’s almost as if he’s slowly becoming Westerosi.
- Praying. There’s something comforting about knowing that the Lord of Light is watching over you.

At first glance, Lycoris might seem like someone you could easily befriend. He’s usually affable, polite and good-natured, but that’s only if you have something he needs. For all his lies and trickery, however, he is damned good at what he does, and never makes a promise he does not intend to keep. Depending on which day of the week you catch him on, he can either be your best friend or your worst enemy. To his subjects, he’s always cordial, almost sickeningly sweet, giving them exactly what they want, each and every time they come crawling back.
As for those he has no need of, however, they often find themselves put off by his unfriendly exterior. Going from an almost saccharine geniality to a tepid monotone is a specialty of his. He doesn’t abide by anyone’s rules apart from his own, though he’s very good at pretending otherwise, biding his time until he can snatch up the prize. Naturally venomous, aloof, and even distant, he is used to putting on a variety of faces to achieve the means to an end.
While he does surround himself with dark and dangerous people who most certainly do not mean well, and it is no secret that he’d rather serve himself instead of lifting an arm to help others, one should not forget that while Lycoris is a priest of R’hllor, that doesn’t mean that he’s heartless or without morals. Surely, there had to be something out there for him, far beyond the horizon. He almost believed that nothing could be worse than the whisperings behind his back, and the bruises he got from neighbourhood bullies. Little did he know, however, that there was an opportunity that awaited him, though it came in a form neither he nor anyone else expected.
From the Free Cities came a fleet of slaving ships, intent on pillaging small seaside towns for the young and able-bodied. Lycoris and his sister, Sha Ruo, were among those taken, though they ended up on separate ships, each emblazoned with unique symbols and headed to different destinations. Lycoris didn’t know why or how the slavers came so far; perhaps the slavers were running out of resources on their own continent, or maybe it was just a need to satisfy curiosities about the Golden Empire. Whatever the reason, however, he couldn’t find it in himself to care after he was locked below deck with a mass of shivering, sweating bodies.
Days stretched into weeks, and weeks stretched into months. It seemed like an eternity before the ship finally made its way back to Essos. Lycoris thought it a miracle that he even survived the long, arduous journey. He’d seen with his own two eyes as child after child drop dead in the damp, dark cellar, flies swarming their bodies before the ship’s crew finally got around to dumping them overboard. And then, for the first time in months, he set foot on solid ground, the warm, golden sun beating down on his skin. Of course, none of that distracted him from the cold, iron shackles around his wrists and ankles, nor the appraising gazes of rich men who sought a new slave to add to their collection.
He spent a year as an errand boy to a Lyseni noble, before the man finally grew tired of his reluctance to carry out his tasks. Deciding that he could make a pretty penny selling the boy off to a local brothel - the madames were always looking for fresh meat - he had his seneschal haul Lycoris off to one without delay. He should count himself lucky, he supposed, that he was only there for a month, though he still loathed the experience with every fibre of his being. While passing one of the many Red Temples in Lys, the high priestess saw him, and offered him a new, more respectable life as a servant to R’hllor. Needless to say, he jumped at the opportunity; going back to that dreadful place was the last thing he wanted. The high priestess gave him a new name, in reflection of his new life - Lycoris.
