"Aaah, dreams. They can be so wonderful. Don't you agree, Fantine?"

Having received her orders, Eponine bowed and marched out. Fantine looked after Eponine with slight concern, but turned back to Maria when she asked her question, "Yes, Lady Maria. We can't really live without hope, can we? If we don't aspire to something, we wither...and die." Fantine looked at Maria and smiled to hide the sudden onrush of pain in her heart. Eponine had told her that dreams were unnecessary, Eponine had told Fantine to stop dreaming; that in the end, everyone would be betrayed by their hopes. Fantine could see that Eponine had abandoned hope and had replaced her will to live with a programmed obedience that kept her ticking, like a windup doll, like a zombie. Though Maria hid her emotions behind a smile, at least she had an ambition, something to live for, so Fantine could be happy for Maria in that way.
I like the character so far.

A few points I'd like to make though, Cogs are not known to the general public, so it will be hard for Chie to be obsessed with cogs. There are two ways I can think of to go about this, the first being that Chie is obsessed with space warfare technology in general, starships, carries, strike craft, etc. This can be a useful asset, as she can identify models that are more than a few years old, and know (at least in theory) what their capabilities more-or-less are. After she sees the cogs for the first time, then it's fine if she becomes obsessed with them, and maybe she goes as afar as trying to learn what her teammates' cogs' specialties are. The second option, if you want her to have prior knowledge of the cogs, is for her to be a daughter of one of the scientists working on the cogs. Maybe he breached protocol and brought his daughter to work one day and she became obsessed with them, and maybe he used the fact that she already knows about them to push for them to let her become a pilot or something.

As for games she could play, everyone has a personal identification/smartphone type item called a 'drive'. It's the size of a thumb drive, but projects a hologram to interact with. It detects its holder and accesses their account from the cloud, so stealing it won't give you access to someone else's personal information. It is sometimes used like a keycard to unlock things that the user has been granted access to.

For Chie's history, you can consider several origins for why she is a human living in Horizon. At the beginning of Horizon's history, there was a brief period where Quantums enslaved humans as revenge for their own enslavement, but the Quantums very quickly chose to align themselves with higher ideals and to not repeat the mistakes of their creators. Since then, many refugees from the other nations have fled to Horizon to escape persecution during the Race Wars. If you are making a Wildtype or Ascended character, this is the most likely backstory: that you were descended from former slaves or former refugees. Or perhaps you or your family are recent immigrants. Of course these are just suggestions. Of course, some humans that have been in Horizon long enough have gained positions as politicians and representatives, so if you would prefer a high standing, as like a politician's daughter or something, that's also possible.

Theme song is completely optional

As for you mech, one thing to consider is if you want to focus on beam weapons, mass weapons, or have a mix of both. So far, Askalaphos does most of its damage with a large beam sword, while Farfalla has an even mix of both mass and beam weapons. I'm assuming Rin's cog will have mostly beams. If you go with beams, you would probably have charged beam cannons, where there's a long charge time followed by a massive beam. Mass weapons will basically be large howitzers that fire heavy caliber slugs. The missile option is to launch warheads at the opponent. Maybe the rockets can be outfitted with different warheads depending on the situation.

You could go with one massive primary weapon that is your bread and butter, maybe a held in both hands, and/or you can have a couple of smaller, but still big weapons, maybe shoulder mounted or something.

As for you wishlist, you can either push what your cog is already good at, or cover for what it's not so good at. For example, heavy artillery types usually aren't very fast, if you want to go faster, its a possibility. They're usually not so good at hitting fast moving targets, needing long recharge or reloading times, maybe a hyper mode where things charge faster or something is an option. To become better at what you already do could involve more powerful shots, varied options, versatility, as well as undiscovered science. The sky's the limit for your wishlist. If you can think of it, or provide an example, let me know and I'll try to work it into the universe somehow.
"I see, so this is a pretty natural transition for you then, isn't it?" Tera asked Mike.

"Hey...Mike...after we eat, I kind of want to check out my cog," Israfil said, "S-since you probably know everything about the hangar now, i-is it ok if you come with me? S-so I don't, you know, do anything I'm not supposed to accidentally?"
Maybe. Let's conclude the meeting or something.
"A doctor," Tera said, "My 'parents' were nurses. I probably would have become a nurse too, if I didn't get recruited." She looked at Israfil, prompting him to answer.

"I-I was just going through higher education," Israfil said, then added, "though I didn't really excel at anything. I-it's hard to keep up, when everyone else is so...talented. When I got recruited, I thought, 'maybe this is something that only I can do, something unique about me as a person'. Ah, what am I saying?" Israfil suddenly got embarrassed, put his hands under the table and looked down awkwardly.

Tera looked at Mike and said, "Sorry, when I said 'pilots', I didn't mean to exclude you, if you'd like, please feel free to share your background as well." Tera saw Blythe out of the corner of her eye, but decided not to bring any unwanted attention to her. If Blythe wanted to be left alone, Tera wasn't going to disturb her privacy.
Hmm, okay.

So I might go with that but I'm not really sure yet. ^^; As much as a sarcastic loli in a mecha throwing around high-power weapons appeals to me I'm not sure I'll do that even if it's allowed, though I do have somewhat more of an idea of what I'm doing now.

OK, if you're still having trouble, feel free to discuss. I look forward to seeing your character soon.
"I humbly accept your praise," Fantine said, bowing while holding the serving tray in front of her.

"I understand, I will try my utmost to find this vagrant," Eponine replied. She thought about what Maria had said and considered her own situation. She didn't have much of a dream; preserving this fragile order was more than enough for her. Perhaps it was part of her wish; to not be hurt meant, to a certain degree, to not have to think; to dream meant inviting the possibility of disappointment so not dreaming meant not being disappointed, to be satisfied with things as they are, the status quo. She wondered if this meant she was a witch, but then again, perhaps she was incapable of falling into despair. After a short introspection, she simply chose not to think about it.
Ok, as long as you like it, we can keep going. I'm not bored, I'm just a terrible and awkward conversationalist in real life so I sometimes get stuck thinking of what to talk about even when I'm RPing conversations. But I finally thought of something interesting to say.
"So, what were you all doing before you got recruited to be a pilot?" Tera asked. Tera was raised with the idea that humans were to be respected, revered even; and to be taken care of for they were fragile in many ways. Though she may not agree with every part of that, she mainly found humans fascinating for two main reasons. The first was that they needed the first decade or so of their lives to develop their minds, while a Quantum could have a mature mind with basic functional intelligence from creation. The second was that their lives could be so short, and even if they weren't short, they were finite, so humans had to grapple with the idea of mortality. It was quite frankly amazing to Tera that humans accomplished anything at all with the short, functional period of time they've been given. Learning about human lives and dreams captivated Tera, though she tried not to think about the fact that she may soon be responsible for ending some.
No worries, I also apologize as GM, since I sometimes get tunnel-visioned with conversations and stuff. I can do a quick time skip to the first assignment if you would like.
