Unfortunately, a block feature has not been integrated into the site. Like Ruby said, tell them to leave you alone and then get staff involved if they don't. I'm always down to tell 'em to get bent 💕

Haley ★ 26 ★ Taurus ★ EST ★ Casual Level Group Writer

Welcome fellow writer. I go by many names, but you can call me Haley or pretty much anything else. I stick to causal level groups here on the forum. I have a soft spot for thunderstorms, dark humor, strong coffee, animals, pretty words, feminine rage, mythologies, and all things that go 'bump' in the night. I've lived in the same small southern Appalachian town my whole life, and aim to travel one day. I'm open to the occasional random conversation, but please do not message me asking to write one-on-one; it's simply not something I do these days.

Somewhere near the state lines of North Carolina and Tennessee - about twenty minutes off of highway forty - lies the small town of Pines Holler.

Pines Holler is the sort of small town that people see only on TV. Secluded, small, old, rotting, historic, and a little sad. Everything seems to be covered in a permanent layer of dirt and grime.

What started out as a mining town has been all but forgotten by their neighbors; the little fame they have left fading with the paint on the sign for the shut down cotton mill. Infrastructure is crumbling, jobs are sparce, and the cost of living keeps rising. Despite the hand they have been dealt in life, the locals of Pines Holler still cling to hope - the same hope that has kept the people in the hills going for generation after generation.

Most of them clung to that hope right up until last month. Parton's Lumber Company handed out the last paychecks, and then informed everyone that they were locking the doors for good. Those who were lucky enough to have a good paying local job are now unemployed unless they want to work at the bar or Dollar General. Parton's closing their doors is just one thing on the long list of things that are now truly threatening Pine's Harbor.

CEO's, land development corporations, realtors - they've all been closing in on Pines Holler for the last few years. Driving up the cost of living, taking jobs from the area and moving them elsewhere, and polluting the land of surrounding towns and counties. Now they're here, doing the same exact thing, in a place that no one hardly knows exists anymore.

Will the people of Pines Holler let themselves be ran from their family homes due to corporate greed?

Hello again, citizens of RPG.

What I have before you is a pretty straightforward SoL concept. Small, dying, Appalachian town based out of Western North Carolina. We'll be following our characters as they handle the good and bad of day to day life in their small community of Pines Holler. This will be a sandbox style RP that heavily relies on character interaction while I, your GM, throw random plot devices at you and said characters.

Now, let me make it clear that we aren't playing wealthy characters. This go around, I'm offering you a chance at your wildest white trash dreams.

Feel free to read on and join us.

  • PSA: Just because you apply does not mean that you/your character will be approved. I’m open to anyone applying; but if you give me a character sheet with zero effort, or have a history of ghosting roleplays, I’m not letting you in, my dude.
  • First and foremost, we do have a posting rule. You must post once per month, per character. Each character will have their own timer. You can - and are definitely encouraged - to post more than this. If you need an extension, communicate that no later than three days before the deadline. An extension of three days can be granted if enough heads up is given.
  • Communication is key. I don’t feel like I should really have to explain that one. We are (mostly) all adults, and I understand that things happen. I am always willing to work with anyone, so long as there is proper communication. Shitty communication lands you on my shit list. That being said, you MUST be able to join the Discord Server for our RP. I’ve tried to have writers who don’t want to be part of the server(s) before, and it just never works out.
  • Don’t apply if you aren’t going to put in effort, dude. Your character sheet doesn’t have to be immaculate - and you don’t have to talk to everyone on the Discord every day - but your RP experience will be heavily dependent on what you put into this collaboration through the IC and OOC. Don't cry to me that you don't know what to do with your character if you've done everything in your power to isolate them and establish no connections with the rest of the cast.
  • Keep the drama IN CHARACTER. Not in the OOC, not in the Discord, not anywhere else. Gods forbid an issue does arise with you and another player, please feel free to inform me. I will do my best to help with the situation if I think I can.
  • There's gonna be some heavy and/or potentially dark themes for this RP. We're gonna be playing adults, so things like alcohol, work polo's, paying bills, and being disgusted at the morning news may be prevalent. On top of that, there may be things like drug use, and getting your children taken away. Who knows? Just be willing to be down with some heavy every day real life issues, or go on ahead and kick rocks for me. <3
  • This Roleplay is considered High-Casual; a minimum of two paragraphs of non-dialogue. We’re firm believers in quality over quantity over this way though, so do with that what you will.
Use your noggin’ when posting. Don’t overwhelm the IC with back to back posts just to have a conversation between two characters or something else dumb. Allow two posts in between your last one and the next.

  • Be conscious of others when creating your characters. Take a quick glance at the claims sections and the character tab to make sure that your concept doesn't mirror someone else's too closely. Don't use color/hex codes that are too dark/bright/harsh on the eyes. (If you give me something with black or magenta, I will rage). Additionally, please put a TRIGGER WARNING on your sheet for anything that may need said trigger warning(s).
  • Please, for the love of the gods, don’t change the formatting. I have things laid out the way that I want them, and would appreciate it if you stuck to it. You can add all the color, symbols, aesthetics, headers, etc that you want - just don’t move things around or add extra sections. Thank you.
  • The code might be broken, bro. I try, but I ain’t perfect. DM me the sheet on RPG if you need help.
  • Please only post completed sheets in the OOC for GM review.
  • You must remove all instructions/explanations from the sheet for it to be approved.
  • Replace ??? with your color code of choice.
  • The GM team reserves the right to ask you to change anything about your Character Sheet that we see fit. These things may include: changing your faceclaim because they are too old/young, or changing the color code for your character because it is too harsh on the eyes.
  • ALL CHARACTERS MUST BE 18+. It is heavily recommended that your character is between 25-45 years of age, just for interaction purposes. I do not care if your character is over 45. Just make sure they can interact with their peers.
  • There's two main places for our characters to reside in this RP. Those places would be Shady Hills Trailer Park, or the wanna be suburbs on Miners Street. AT LEAST ONE of your characters must reside in the trailer park or on Miners Street.
  • I will be allowing up to three characters per writer.
  • Keep in mind that we are trying to portray a very small, very *poor* community. Many of our characters may not have reliable transportation. They won't have access to every gadget. Etc.
  • I am looking for a total of five characters to be the 'bad guys'. The suits, if you will. Business types. Land developers. CEO's. Etc. I will be picky in choosing these characters - meaning that you may have to wait longer for this particular character to be approved, and that they also have a less chance at approval out the gate.

Determined to start the morning by annoying her sister Gigi, Sabina pranced down the stairs of their home with more excitement than usual. After scanning various rooms and hiding spaces, it seemed as if Gigi had gotten an earlier start on her day or had found a new corner to hide in. Whichever the case, Sabina was mildly disappointed. Thankfully today was the Summer Solstice, and nearly nothing could dampen the young Kiskova's mood.

Making her way in to town, Sabina was sure to stop by Apollo's Cafe for coffee and a small breakfast before heading to the Coliseum. The former Praetor added her signature to the roster before stepping back out to the Forum while waiting for other contestants to arrive. Spending the next thirty minutes or so browsing various wares, Sabina didn't miss the opportunity to place a few bets while she was out and about. Small talk was made, smiles shared. Soon it was time for Sabina to return to the Coliseum to see who her first opponent would be.

Derex Steiner - or 'Rex' as his friends called him - was someone that Sabina knew well. Their time in Legion working alongside one another had set a strong foundation for their friendship. Before Sabina knew it, she looked at Rex sort of like a brother. If she were to lose to anyone today, she would be fine with it being Rex. No matter the outcome, she knew that it would be a respectable and honorable sparing match.

Their spar started playfully, smiles and small laughs exchanged from across the battle field. A spectacle of spear against Warhammer and the dance between old friends. While the fun managed to last, Sabina found herself striking with more intention and force sooner rather than later - and so did Rex. She wasn't quite sure where she went wrong, but that didn't change the fact that Sabina was now sprawled flat on her ass in the dirt. The young woman took her loss with dignity, and exited the battle field with her head still held high. Unlike some others here today, Sabina had no reason to feel ashamed for the way things had played out.

She took the time to get her injuries looked over. Lucius gently reminded her that there was no smoking in the medical bay; a request that was followed, but earned a small grunt of dissatisfaction from Sabina. Nonetheless, she waited until she was bandaged and out of the med-bay to enjoy her vice.

Briefly wandering the stands of the Coliseum, Sabina's eyes landed on Jeremy Grover a few rows higher up. She meandered in and out of the crowd as efficiently as possible before coming to a stop at her friends side. Taking a seat beside him, her gaze fell upon the next set of competitors just in time to watch Ashton forfeit to Gigi. Letting out a loud "BOOOOO", Sabina couldn't help but scoff at the events before her.

"Please tell me you have some good booze I could borrow," she half asked Grover.

We have TWO DAYS until our first deadline.

***TODAY*** IS THE LAST DAY TO REACH OUT TO ME FOR AN EXTENTION! Extentions will give you until Monday. ((Please keep in mind that asking doesn't get you one, either. Normally it would, but in this case I've already given us a month and a half + to get these posts out. That being said, message me if you need one and we can talk about it)).

As another reminder, all characters not posted for by/on November 14th will be placed on Hiatus/moved to NPC status.

Thank you!

That being said, if anyone wants to back out for any reason, I understand.

Maybe this isn't what you thought it was going to be; perhaps you are worried about time with the upcoming holidays. Maybe you just don't like my GMing style.

Whatever the case may be, I have never held resentment towards people for having to drop.

As we move forward with the RP, we will be relying more on character interaction and writer availability. Anyone not 110% on board, please let me know. I care about you guys, and I care about our group. But we can't get anywhere with one another if we don't communicate.

So yeah. If you wanna drop, just dont post, redact your character's, and/or leave the discord. No hard feelings.

In addition to this, if there are any characters that you wish to drop, feel free to come talk to me. Maybe you don't wanna drop the RP all together, but theres a character that you're realizing you don't want to write for anymore. That's cool too. Again, just please communicate homies.

Avery Pierce was about as close to a socialite that New Rome had - if socialites were relatively down to earth and had no problem participating in actual community activities. She considered herself a role model to some, teacher to others, maternal figure to few, and sister or aunt to those in between. Some would even go so far as to say she was a pillar of the community; business owner, teacher, friend, former Centurion, current Veteran. It would have almost been a crime if Avery hadn't participated in the Veterans Spar.

So that's what she did.

She woke early enough that morning to make sure everything was in check at both home and Paradiso before traveling to the Coliseum. Signing her name on the roster, Avery then made her way to the apodyterium. The young woman took the time to sharpen her weapons, waiting to see who came in after her in a small effort to try and size up potential competition. There were a lot of familiar faces - but then again, who wasn't familiar to Avery.

When the pairings were announced, Avery had mixed feelings. She had nothing against Aeris as a person. While thankful that Avery knew she could advance, she also felt a little sorry for Aeris, briefly wondering how the other woman had wound up in this position today. Avery couldn't see Aeris willingly putting herself in a position to spar where her powers didn't work - but then again, Avery didn't really know Aeris that well.

Taking it easy on Aeris for the first few minutes of their spar, Avery couldn't help but find the whole charade painful. The daughter of Luna knew where to swing, but she lacked the spirit that was fueling Avery today. If anyone were to ask, that would be why Avery would think she had won her first fight.

The second win was due to sheer buffoonery in the daughter of wisdoms eyes.

Rex and Avery shared a long history, and an equally as long laugh upon learning that they were paired on this fine day. She was okay with this outcome, but ultimately knew that whoever won today would have bragging rights for a lifetime, along with one of the greatest stories to tell on holidays. Avery had to make sure she could win that honor as well as the honor of New Rome. Unable to knock Rex off of his feet literally, Avery chose to make her moves in a more strategic battle of the mind.

She admitted to him her and Eden's past relationship. A brief explanation, but one long enough to distract his mind. Avery took these brief moments of Rex's confusion as her golden opportunity. Effectively disarming the son of Mars, Avery chuckled as she extended her free hand to her opponent, helping him stand after the winner was announced.

"A pleasure as always, my good friend," she yelled to him over the roar of the crowd.

Making her way into the healing bay, Avery received minor treatments for the bruises and scrapes she had accumulated over the day. Once cleared, she made her way back to the Coliseum, finding a seat in the lowest spot she could while awaiting to see who her final opponent would be.

I don't really have a favorite holiday. I think they all have their pros and cons. Some years Halloween might go down better than Christmas, and others, Thanksgiving may beat them both. My favorite isn't the same on every year - usually it's just the one that caused the least headache.

Summer Solstice had arrived much faster that Lilith had anticipated.

The young woman had been preoccupied with so many things as of late, that she didn't even have time to realize how quickly the festivities had approached. Forever working on new products for the Apothecary, divinating for people when needed, divinating for the Camp just for GP, keeping up with training, maintaining friendships, and just trying to take care of herself among countless other things - it was an understatement to say that Lilith Montgomery could use a breather.

Having already woken up a bit late, Lilith flew through her morning routine before getting dressed.

The truth was, Lilith had always looked forward to festivities in New Rome. With her gift of prophecy and foresight, it was easy for Lil to make a quick buck on days like these. It wasn't like she was cheating at the beating pool; it was nearly impossible to keep herself from seeing the outcomes of things that she questioned. Even still, she caught glimpses of certain results, making sure to scratch them down in her journal so she wouldn't forget on her journey into the city. Lil only bet on the fights she had had visions of, in a strange way of trying to keep things fair. If she went to go bet on another fight, it was likely that it would trigger a vision and show her the result anyway, thus resulting in Lilith gaining even more money from her winnings. Some people would call it cheating - Lilith simply seen it as using her gifts in the fairest way possible.

Once she had thrown everything thing she could possible think that she would need for the day in her bag, Lilith scratched Mavis behind the ears while trying to calm an overexcited Nala who was practically banging down the door in her impatience. It seemed as if all creatures in New Rome were excited to celebrate the day.

The daughter of Trivia enjoyed her walk in to town, the rising sun warming her skin. Lilith reminded herself quietly to let all of her senses see the beauty around her. She stopped to smell flowers, wave to the children, and smile at passing neighbors and campers alike. Even still, there was a small, growing pit in her stomach that had been there since she had opened her eyes this morning. With the gift of foresight and emotions, Lil often struggled with figuring out if feelings like these belonged to herself or the collective. She quietly determined that the metaphorical pit was just the result of feeling everything. Even with the power of her necklace doing it's best to keep everything at bay, Lilith could still feel the overall feeling of such large groups. Thankfully, the town seemed to be buzzing with excitement today.

The brunette made her first stops at the betting booths, saving her merch shopping for this evening when she would collect her winnings. Lilith buzzed around the Forum like the social chameleon she had always been, taking her time to gather a pizza from Paradiso and the largest soda she could score from Huskers. Even with all of the good vibes in the air, Lilith still felt herself being pulled towards something. A feeling of uncertainty, nostalgia, sadness and... she would swear that last part was guilt.

Picking up the pace as she now walked through the stands of the Coliseum, Lilith found her empathy and intuition pulling her towards Rauni. A polite look of sympathy crossed Lilith's face as she felt the full weight of the other young womans emotions. Like some others Lilith was close with, she could feel Rauni's emotions with greater intensity than that of a passerby. In full honesty, Rauni hadn't stopped screaming since Felix's death. During the early days, it was literal screaming. Now, it was more of a metaphorical thing - something that snuck up from behind you and stabbed you with a cold, rusty blade in the heart. Lilith pulled herself together before taking a seat beside Rauni in the stands, placing the pizza in between the two of them as to offer the other girl some and also not to invade her space.

"So who's your money on," Lil asked, already spotting the familiar back of someone's head. While waiting for Rauni to answer, Lil briefly dug around in her bag for a spare pen that she didn't care about. Once secured, Lilith proceeded to toss it at the back of Rikki's head - or well, what she thought was the back of Rikki's head. Once the young man turned around with a confused scowl on his face, Lilith grinned from ear to ear, waving to him to join her and Rauni.
