Making the jump from Casual to Advanced

Havoc for havoc's sake is almost always terrible. And there are very few interactions where involving one's self without giving prior warning to another player is actually beneficial. However, when the stars align, having someone throw a well written, entirely logical and good curveball is one of my favorite parts about RPing. A plot twist that's actually good is amazing fun.

@BishopWithin the context of the universe? Honestly it wouldn't be too special. However, the real question is not about what the character would do (Lazarus, in this instance) and more the player. Someone who doesn't know how you as an individual operate might think that Lazarus could potentially break character to do something cool or amazing with his powers, because of the whims of his creator. I don't think you would do it. And we have two individuals with the power to swiftly deal with such a situation if it were to ever arise with someone else. However, that fear of broken character is still there.

Power takes many forms. As you've said, Lazarus has the capability to do terrible things if he so desired. You assure us he won't, of course, and I (personally) wholeheartedly believe you. Someone less trusting might, however, worry. If someone appears that has the power to match our resident clown's abilities, he might be more inclined to pull out his bag of forbidden tricks. And I'd argue that killing someone's character isn't the only issue that can arise from being "overpowered." From what I understand, the issue that people are worried about is Lazzy becoming no fun to interact with because he is, as was earlier stated, essentially "perfect." He obviously has weaknesses and character faults. But in most contexts, those don't appear significant except under very special circumstances. This isn't me attacking you or anything, by the way. And I'm not trying to undermine our GMs. Just trying to make a little conversation while I sit around at the dentist dreading the 'talk.'

That might be fine with you and I support the idea up to a point, facing enemies more powerful then you. But when you have a fellow hunter cleave through 2 dozen enemies in 1 strike while you barely killed 3 through skill and tactical positioning, I just wanna throw up. All the fun is gone.

So I either go for "equality in power" or more powerful otherwise it becomes boring. And with the dislevel present in this RP I opted to throw power levels away and make some hard-to-kill joker not interested in participating in fights himself.

An interesting perspective. I can see where you're coming from; power creep is always an issue when unrestricted magic powers are present in a setting. However. I feel like it should be noted that, in this instance, you've perpetuated the issues you have. If you see a character do something outlandish and decide to one up them so you don't become outclassed, have you not taken their place as the outlandish one? Food for thought.
