I'm unfamiliar with your customs, my apologies.
*Takes a right*
But lucky for us, I happen to be in perfect health. Did they capture an image of my face, by chance?

- I don't know. I don't think anybody but the guy you talked to would've had the chance, but you definitely need to change clothes. Insurrectionists like to keep caches down here; see if you find a symbol on the walls, something like an eye with an X over it. It might have something to change into. Second on the left, by the way.

I said hello to a couple of officers. Frankly, I think they overreacted.

UNKNOWN: I saw. You could've just said you were new and left it at that. You definitely didn't have to show them your arm.

*She sighs.*

UNKNOWN: I'm the person who's supposed to pick you up at the spaceport, but I don't know how the hell we're going to do that now. I'm going to direct you out of these sewers, and then we're going to figure out what on God's green Earth you're going to do next, because plan A's gonna go out the window if they get a bead on you in another district. Take the next right, by the way.

I'm fine with that for these purposes. I'd probably suggest them picking up something that can sustain themselves long-term in the multiverse if they're going to branch out to Existence proper after that point.

My plan was that, like the Sol Cooperative and DARPA team, the Varroi would be hunting Lucy across the multiverse themselves using their own transdimensional travel methods. The Sol Cooperative uses a modified warp drive, DARPA a prototype wormhole generator, and the Varroi an airship modified with void-protection magic, similar to the Spelljammers from D&D.

That would be fun actually to see this too.

I was actually going to do it anyways as part of a plot involving another one of my characters, Mr. Lucy. The Varroi was to be part of the group that's currently trying to hunt Lucy down, so that could loop you in if they meet (and you want to be looped in, ofc)
Basically Focus Mode is about the only major ability he has besides his Gladius (Roman short sword) and shield.

You have no idea how much this is tempting me to bring in a person from Varro, which is the Rome expy from my D&D game, just for the cultural mingling and the confusion it would cause, lmao

Oh? How fascinating.
*Flips open the phone as I walk through one of the corridors at random*

*The voice that comes out is high, clearly feminine, and very, very angry.*

UNKNOWN: You're on the news; they're deploying CRS Counter-Terror to South Union, something about an active bioweapon in city limits. Vector, what the fuck did you do?
<Snipped quote by Tank O The Lake>

Ah, I seem to have made a mess of thi—
*A blood-curdling scream followed by an enormous explosion rings out behind the officers, and while the incident distracts them, I flip up the grate of the storm drain with surprising strength for my size, and slip inside*
We'll have to finish this next time.
*When they look for the explosion, its illusory source cannot be found*

*The officers scatter in search of the blast, giving you just enough time to slip into the storm drain without anyone noticing. However, you're then confronted with a different problem: you have no idea what the sewer system's layout is and how to get out of this district. It's possible that you could find a map down here, but time is of the essence; it's likely the Central Response Service will begin blocking off the sewers soon to prevent you from leaving the district.*

*Suddenly, something starts buzzing in your pocket. It's a flip phone, one you didn't have on your person before. Someone's calling you.*
<Snipped quote by Tank O The Lake>

*Rolls my sleeve back down and takes steps backwards as we speak while glancing around me for confined spaces, sewer grates, and other difficult to navigate corridors*
Of course, sir, happy to comply. Allow me to move outside your hazard zone.
*Rubs my left eye, which glints a faint amber when I pull my hand away*
Do you have some kind of badge, while we're on the subject? I'd hate to be kidnapped again by street-level thugs.

- I don't have to give you shit. Stay back.

*Behind you, you can hear the other enforcers stumble out of the cafe, grabbing for their rifles. Around you, you see the advertisements flicker out, replaced with black text on a red background.*

ANNOUNCEMENT: ATTENTION. ATTENTION. PLEASE REMAIN CALM. REPORTED BIOCHEMICAL HAZARD IN LOCAL AREA. SHELTER IN PLACE UNTIL ALL CLEAR IS GIVEN. SEAL ALL EXTERNAL DOORS AND WINDOWS. TUNE TO GOVERNMENT CHANNELS FOR MORE INFORMATION. ATTENTION. ATTENTION. PLEASE REMAIN CALM...

*There's one way out, even as the enforcers surround you. You're standing by a storm drain, but alarms are starting to go off. Whatever you're going to do, you have to do it now.*
<Snipped quote by Tank O The Lake>

*Takes a step back*
Officer, if I may.
*Pulls back on my sleeve, revealing the necrotized flesh of my arm, oozing several different colors with hints of visible bone peeking through*
It's extraordinarily contagious, even through PPE. You understand, I try to avoid contact with others as much as I can.

*The sight of it shocks the man to his core. Yelping, he trips over himself and falls onto his rear.*

- What the fuck?!

*He reaches for his suit's radio, one hand falling to his gun.*

- Dispatch, I have eyes on a biological hazard vector on 24th and Madison! Subject is visibly infected with some sort of necrotic plague--send hazmat, immediately!

*Finally, he manages to stand back up, drawing his gun and backing away.*

- You're not going anywhere. On your knees, hands behind your head. Now!
<Snipped quote by Tank O The Lake>

No sir, I might guess the best way to put it is that I try to avoid crowded places like that. Best to not make a scene, and I can't say I'm well liked around these parts.

- You're a drifter, then.

*He steps forward.*

- Papers. Please.
