Bio

I have been writing as a hobby for longer than you have been alive. I have been a regular member and roleplayer of no less than fourteen different online forums during that time (including the old RPG), five six eight of which no longer exist.

I was previously a regular on the Homestuck forums, but I became so sick of thread turnover there that I asked around and eventually found the Guild. Since joining, I have exclusively only participated in Advanced RPs. Before Mahz gave NRPs their own subforum, I used to be an NRP regular in the Advanced Subforum. I am a Guildfall survivor, and know/regularly write with a few others.

If you ask anybody who has written with me in previous RPs, they should tell you that I have a generally open schedule, I post regularly and in a timely fashion, and I never drop an RP once I join unless the thread dies. Some of them may tell you that I have extensive expertise within the realms of Biology, Psychology, and Physics, which I will make no effort to validate since there is no way I can provide hard proof of aforementioned alleged expertise to anybody over the internet (though I am happy to try and answer any questions you send my way).

My favorite fandom is the Myst franchise, which seemingly nobody other than me has ever heard of.

I was a Contest Moderator for the Writing Contests Subforum for just a little bit over two years. I wrote the Moderation Policy for that subforum and I ran a contest called the Twelve Labours; you can still go there and see all of them and the entries people wrote for them in the Contests Section and the Victory Archives.

I have been quadruple secret banned from the guild discord. That is not a joke.

I'm glad that the Kali moment went over well. I was torn between seeing it as a good out for Cath's absence and feeling like I was railroading the rest of you.

As for Reaper, just to iron this out ahead of time--he's going to be an unknown element at the time we meet him right? As in we've never run with him before or aren't at the moment, right?

One presumes so if Recluse would blow him up otherwise.

I'm getting the impression that Kali will probably shoot him on sight.

I also get the impression Traction will shoot him on sight.

In fact, I'm not entirely certain why Recluse won't be shooting him on sight if he ever gets a bead with his sniper rifle (if he would be inclined to blow Reaper up).

This seems like an awkward premise for joining a Shadowrunner team. I know that I wouldn't be too keen on the idea when most of the team tries to kill you right when they see you.

Unless there's something I'm missing? I mean, don't get me wrong, I imagine Reaper might have a way to convince them not to shoot him immediately (and bullets don't work well on adepts, this is known). I'm just checking to see if there's any sort of plan in the works that will help make the transition work.

Will be updating the map shortly to accomodate withdrawals.
Legacy Territory
Outer Boundary
Icaroa System
Proximal to Gas Giant Nemt'urye.

The New Verdant ship appeared within the outer boundaries of the unexplored star system, and found a scene in disarray. Once their sensors were able to sweep the entire system, they would discover the presence of three gas giants, all with numerous moons, and two smaller planets. One of the smaller planets would appear volcanic, but possessing a potentially promising large moon with its own atmosphere. The last remaining planet was simply a barren rock.

Elsewhere in the system though, life stirred and buzzed errantly in a foreign manner to the inhabitants of New Prospects. More than eight hundred million kilometers away in orbit above the volcanic planet lay an alien fleet of considerable size; though anomalous energetic signals emanating from the fleet made discerning its exact makeup difficult at that range.

More pressing was the abrupt appearance and approach of a lone alien craft that had appeared out of nowhere, as if it had just emerged from faster than light travel as they had. The vessel was made of sleek and darkened metals, with no traces of the organic and plastic materials the Liliate preferred. Immediately, New Prospects was pinged by several consecutive signals from the alien ship - varying forms of radiation, radio-waves, and electromagnetic static - one of which, a tightbeam laser transmission, registered as valid to New Prospects' sensors.

The data transmitted by the beam was a simple series of information in binary, ternary, quintal, hexadecimal, octal, decimal, and duodecimal number systems. Each set of information, when converted from one to the other, proved to be equivalent - though the message itself was still incomprehensible, matching no media format known to the Lilliate.

Irodien Empire
Havadar Region
System Sector Fortress

The Fortress world that watched over the worlds of the Sanfur within the Havadar Region had, until now, been untaxed by any serious events not pertaining to logistical problems or shipping errors. That changed, however, when an unidentified craft appeared some eighty million kilometers away. Its arrival was heralded by an intense gravitational distortion that every orbital installation detected it immediately, the nearly instantaneous and subtle perturbation of spacetime just significant enough to be register on spatial-coordinate sensors long before luminal sensors had any time to register the new arrival in the system.

The craft was a long, oblong structure more than two kilometers in length, seemingly seamless in construction and constructed of a material greatly resembling roughly hewn stone. The only indication that it was a spacefaring vessel were the intense electromagnetic signals it emitted. The craft itself remained stationary and largely inert apart from its passive emissions, and it made no effort to communicate with or so much as scan the surrounding system.

Unknown Space

The pirates would not remain lost for much longer however. As they crossed blindly through space, a number of distant stars began to abruptly emit signals indicative of the presence of intelligent life - a large number of stars, all clustered together in a relatively small region of space. The arrangement of the stars did not match that of any territory the pirates were aware of, but their only other option if they chose not to investigate was to continue drifting aimlessly.
Excellent timing on the Kali Momentâ„¢. I was just about to complain about @Engel's absence depriving us of the critically pivotal Face for the warehouse scene.
Caewil, Traction, and Yegor had just begun their placid walk over to the warehouse entrance when they were treated to Kali stunt-diving off of Damien's Rotor drone and through the skylight. The shattering glass and snapping girders was loud; the ensuing gunfire from at least half a dozen weapons was nonetheless louder.

Traction, despite the look of utter dismay that flashed across her face, recovered quickly and had already started talking again. Her words were rushed and her voice somewhat strained, but it was otherwise hard to tell what kind of straights she was in. "If they haven't called the PD by now, some wageslave nearby has. Forget the old plan, we have three minutes before the ped shows up. Damien, get your Nissan in there now and give us fire support, then drive around to the loading dock. Recluse, go with Damien and plant charges to blow open the bay doors, we're not gonna have time to open them the nice way. Yegor, you head in first so I can share telemetry data for all our smartlinks; Kali still doesn't have any. I'll follow you in and we'll clear the room. Just focus on dumping them, don't worry about trying to assist Kali." And there it was. Traction had all but written Kali off at this point. If she got through the firefight, fine. If she was bleeding out on the ground, Traction had no intention whatsoever of wasting time trying to stabilize or retrieve her.

Traction reached into her coat with both hands and pulled out her smartguns as she began to head for the warehouse entrance again, walking at a hurried pace. Instantly, Yegor's cybereye started receiving enhanced telemetry data from both, along with Traction's smartlens and his Predator. Even though none of them could see anything, snippets of overhead data from Damien's Nissan had apparently caught a few hostiles through the skylight, and already his cybereye was projecting AR reticules onto the wall of the warehouse in case he felt like trying to shoot any of them through it. They weren't giving favorable tohit percentages, but once they were inside he wasn't going to miss on account of his meat. "Caewil, take up the rear. Take whatever shots you need to, but focus on any Astral noise that looks funny."
@Heartfelt Gamer has been approved. Map has been updated with their spot and coordinates. Added to the OP.

Sorry for my absence. Heartfelt Gamer dropped into the chat around the same time I was reviewing @mattmanganon's nation sheet, and they indicated they would be submitting their nation profile shortly - so I decided to wait until it was up before proceeding. I spent most of yesterday trimming some rough patches on my RPGC#4 entry and starting work on my post for the Ennedi Legacy, which will be going up tomorrow.

@mattmanganon, why your nation sheet does tell us the basics of everything we need to know, the amount of detail within each section is somewhat lacking and sparse. If you could expand and elaborate more significantly upon your current material that would be appreciated.
Going to put up a post this Saturday - and starting interactions with a few people. Those involved should receive PMs sometime tomorrow.
Well, since there's a certain amount of (not unwarranted) pushback to the usage of certain kinds of arenas - and admitting that, as @Melonhead said, I do not have any prior experience with Arena practices - it may be best if I postpone releasing my set and getting somebody to look over them and help me make revisions where necessary.

I might have posted them anyway, even if they weren't necessarily suited to tournament use and would have not been used often - but the fact of the matter is I actually want people to use these arenas. I'm not making them for the sake of filling space. I also don't want them seen as too gimmicky or encroaching to the point that people don't want to use them for tournament matches.

Everyone's commentary on the matter over the past few days has been very helpful. If anybody would be willing to review these arenas in advance and make suggestions and provide their thoughts on the matter, shoot me a PM.
All fights are now to be held inside a steel cage.

DIS SUMMER. HELL. IN. A . CELL.

Joking aside, the environment should play a big factor in how clever an opponent is. That is, it takes some skill to utilize all of the environment; whether that means kicking up dust, fighting so that your opponent has to go uphill to reach you, or making it so that the sun is in his eyes and not yours.

Exactly.

I don't know what the Tilt Building is (I presume it's a building that flips over or something), but none of my arenas have any 'fuck you and die' features (with the possible exception of the Recursive Gameboard, but that has rule variants to eliminate the offending element). A reasonably alert combatant should be able to navigate and fight in all of them without fear. A few of them have stationary and clearly marked hazards (Onslaught Station has traps), and few others have puzzle-base obstacles (the Clockwork Fairground). All intended to add a tactical, psychological element to the fight. The clever opponent will have an advantage, so long as they aren't too clever by half. No feature by itself is hazardous - it is the enemy combatant exploiting those features that will create danger.
