I feel like Myriad Reality is somehow the secret glue holding this entire site together

People like to nudge aside the fact that there's a level of commitment to hosting, and joining an RP. The majority of players don't have it in either case, regardless of how interesting an idea is.

I've been gone so long that I forgot what the status bar was like. It's like coming back to an old apartment, except it's not an apartment anymore, it's just two walls and a lot of heroine addicts.

The status bar serves one of three purposes. You can be pretentious, you can tell people about your personal problems, or you can be a smartass.

“What’s with all this magical stuff?” Zay complained, “Don’t you people have a favorite kind of sandwich or something?” He looked down at his sheet, cocked his head to the side for a second, and exhaled. “That just leaves you. Why don’t you introduce yourself for me, Second Lieutenant?”
Zay rolled his eyes and shook his head dismissively. "Apparently not," he whispered to himself, just audible enough for everyone to hear. "Second Lieutenant Flin!"
"Glad to have you on board, Daelin. I hope your willpower continues to speak for itself." Zay looked to his left and chuckled lightly with a puff of air escaping his nostrils. "Noru," He snorted, clearing his throat straight afterwards. Noru narrowed his eyes and took a step forward. "First Lieutenant Noru!"

"Present," He said coldly, before stepping back towards the Caravan. "I don't like you."

"Hardly an interesting, helpful, or new fact, Noru. Second Lieutenant Lyullia!"
Zay spun around and waved the newcomer over. Lyullia chimed in impatiently, which only served to frustrate her new captain. As Flin added on to that with a hint of doubt in his voice, Zay sneezed and slowly turned back towards them. "Hey hey, patience and a positive attitude go a long way, friends. I had a hand in picking you six for Centaurus, so you can rest assured that we're well prepared for just about anything. What won't assure that though, is impatience-" Zay pointed at Lyullia, "-And negativity!" He swayed his finger towards Flin and pulled the corner of his lip backwards. He looked back down at the paper still in his hand and nodded. "Right, it's a little early, but we need some time to get acquainted with one another. I've gone through your files already, but that isn't going to mean a thing if we get ambushed by something in the wilds. I'm going to do Role-Call now. When you hear your name, I want you to tell everyone around you something... Interesting about yourself."

Noru nearly broke his nose against the palm of his armored hand. Marilyn was already trying to think of something interesting to say. Zay smiled and scanned his sheet one more time. "Then we can get going..." Zay eyes Lyullia once again with an uneven smile. His eyes returned to the paper, and he started...

"Second Lieutenant Marilyn!" His voice suddenly boomed across the inside of the barracks, bouncing off the ceiling and back walls into a powerful echo. Marilyn froze for a moment, but caught herself before the silence became uncomfortable.

"Present and accounted for, sir! I'm proficient in psychic magic, and can communicate with passive animals in the wild! I love animals too!.. I can also put people to sleep, calm my own nerves, help people rem-"

"One thing is fine, Mary- Can I call you Mary?" Zay cut in abruptly.

"I uh... Yes! Of course!"

"Wonderful! First Lieutenant Daelin!" Zay carried through the list without delay, suddenly increasing the pace of his little activity without warning. He eyed his watch briefly between calling out names.
"Not everyone," Zay interjected, tapping his paper, "After reviewing our tasks, I made a little change to our roster with permission from Philip. He should be here any second." Zay looked down at his watch and nodded. "Of course, I wouldn't be surprised if he was late." He looked back up the Eldi that addressed him with the corner of his mouth tugged into a lazy smirk. "Besides that though, there's never any harm in getting to know your team before shipping out. If anything, it keeps us tightly bound together. Reduces the chances of accidents."

Marilyn cringed.

"So with that in mind..."
"Uh, yeah."

Zay scratched his messy hair with one hand and began to look through the crumpled piece in the other. "I'm Captain Zay Copp. Just uh, call me Zay," He yawned, blinking rapidly as he tried to make out some of the names. "Philip is occupied somewhere else, apparently. Stopped to pull some heroic stuff in the eastern districts if I'm remembering it correctly. I'm sure he's apologetic, or something. It doesn't really matter though. Unless you're a fan of his... I guess." Zay went silent, waiting patiently for the time to pass. He had a fancy little watch on his left arm that he kept glancing at between names. It was a couple minutes ahead of the actual time. Most watches were slightly inaccurate though, he didn't mind it. He looked towards the other members of Centaurus and offered a forced smile.

"What's the matter? I thought I'd be barging into a conversation. You guys were quieter than a stray dog when I got here," He blurted, glaring at Noru. "I know you're a little stuck up, Noru. Don't worry about it. But the rest of you too..?"
Zelraka chuckled to himself and rose his left hand towards the encroaching black blades that Zios launched. His aura surfaces from his fist, and he slammed through them width-wise, protecting the rest of his body with the same magic. As Zios grew closer, he smirked and waited to meet his attempt with a little present of his own. The earth above and below him slammed shut around his body a few moments before Zios could reach him however, spreading dust. As it clear though, Zelraka could be seen standing between the two hands, while holding the upper patch of earth back with his right hand straightened above him.

"Give it your best shot."
You know where to find me.
Noru's forehead twitched as Flin started to strum away on his little instrument. He wasn't a fan of music or lollygagging. This was a royal Caravan with an extremely important mission, no doubt. The last thing he needed was some buffoonish moron distracting him and his other companions with such a boorish melody. Marilyn on the other hand showed absolutely no interest in Flin's music. She did turn her head towards Noru with a subtle frown though, looking right past Flin in the process and shrugging off his smile. Noru didn't notice. He still had his back turned to both of them, only half visible past the edge of the Caravan's rear corner.

The person that approached them however, was not Major General Norwell. Another man was making his way across the Barracks leisurely, allowing both arms to sway at his sides. It was their Captain-To-Be, Zay Copp. The man was not nearly as experienced as Noru, nor was he as well known as famous knights like Sir Norwell or Lieutenant Colonel Yvette Eridal. Unbeknownst to his new team though, Sir Copp had already been assigned to Centaurus as their Captain. The man chosen to lead them while outside of the City walls was closing in on his new team slowly, but...

"Oi, Noru," Zay called out lazily, offering Sir Peril a gentle wave with his left hand. Noru's eyes widened and his entire body went stiff. "Nice to be working with you again." Noru didn't share the sentiment. Marilyn turned towards Zay as well, but only for a moment before returning her attention to the Venbu. She moved closer to one of their faces, and began to inspect them closely. Most thought they disgusting. Miss Lia thought they were cute. Zay quickly made his way to the center of the group long before Noru could object. The Captain looked pretty meek overall. His skin was very pale, and his hair was completely white like an old man's, but he didn't look a day over 25. Sharp features, an unimposing muscular structure, and... No shirt. His entire upper body was uncovered, though he did wear a small sash around his neck with Arcadia's royal insignia positioned in the center with his name and rank just underneath it. He turned his head to the left, and then to the right. "Is everyone already here?" He called out loudly, looking the five nearby knights over slowly, "I'm gonna be doing role-call in a few minutes, so..." He reached into one of the pockets of his standard issue pants and pulled out a small piece of paper with a bunch of stuff scribbled on it neatly. The paper it self was crumpled and folded though. Zay wasn't really one for neatness or professionalism, it seemed.

Marilyn quickly tiptoed away from the Venbu as soon as she heard the words 'role-call' remembering her superior officer's last lesson very vividly. 'Don't ever lag behind in role-call again missy, don't you dare'. The order still gave her chills. Noru didn't share her apparent enthusiasm, though. He spun towards Zay and crossed his arms impatiently. If this was going to go anything like his previous experience with Captain Copp...
Zelraka barely twitched as his leg was clutched and his target was moved. He was too fast, and his approach was out of nowhere. The moment Jeff's bullet reached him, his body reacted immediately and he smiled. The same aura from earlier coated his body, deflecting or destroying the oncoming attacks, with only slightly welts able to soak through his barrier and lightly bruise his limbs. Bruce's attempt saw similar merit, as the aura climbed down his leg and began to push and pulverize the hardened earth that tried to still him. With his momentum, and energetic barrier, Zios was moved only a few feet by the combined efforts of Bruce and Jeff before Zelraka's attack followed through.

His fist scraped by Zios' side, narrowly missing. But that wasn't the volume of his attack. With an audible pop, almost like the sound of a firing gun, his arm locked in place and his entire body went still. In that brief moment, energy erupted from his fist, expanding outwards in all directions, looking to inflict serious damage on Zios, and lesser damage to Bruce who stood nearby, while simultaneously destroying their platform in the process. 'Agony Shockwave' The technique was far more complex than a simple burst of energy. It retained the properties of Zelriane's Agoniki, as well as a lesser stunning property, similar to Rajaka's Cataclysmic power. "Don't think I forgot about you, son."

The four orbs along the edge of the arena suddenly exploded into giant columns that reached all the way to the roof above them, and towards the ocean that the tower was floating above. The clouds themselves parted from the power of the explosive pillars, and the wind the Jeff sought refuge in was not only stopped with sheer force, but drained of its arcane energy. Although the explosions didn't deal any direct damage, Jeff was now out in the open. Each pillar persisted, exploding consecutively, powered to continue for several minutes as they generated an excessive amount of energy. But despite how terribly devastating they looked at a distance, Zelraka's onslaught didn't stop there. "Don't be a coward!"

Zelraka's body hovered in midair after his attack, regardless of the result, and then spun around once as he leveled himself. The Atomic ordinance beams that surrounded the battlefield then began to slowly spin around as they exploded without any sign of stopping. He had no intention of letting Jeff keep himself hidden for long, even if it prevented him from using any more large scale attacks for the duration. Zelraka quickly glared at Jeff as he became visible again, and then looked to find Bruce and Zios with his eyes as his atomic ordinance began to pick up in speed.
