The highest, most decisive experience is to be alone with one's own self. You must be alone to find out what supports you, when you find that you can not support yourself.

The core of an individual is the mystery of life, which dies when it is 'grasped'. That is also why symbols want to keep their secrets.

The Harbinger of Ferocity
Agent of the Wild, Aspect of the Ferine Nature, red in tooth and claw.
"There is, indeed, no single quality of the cat that man could not emulate to his advantage." - Carl Van Vechten
I am, at my core, a personification and manifestation of those things whose blood and hearts run red with the ferocity of the animal world. It is this which convicts and controls my works, my writing, my being; the force and guidance in which I gain wisdom from. It is what inspires me as a creator and weaver of words, the very thing I admire as an author.
My leanings, savage as they are, are of the feline sort as there exists no greater lineage of beasts whom can be drawn from. No others captivate and motivate my talent and skill as the greatest of cats do.
"Good isn't nice." is a new philosophy that's caught on among paladin players and I have always approved of the idea and gone with it before, but I am pleased to know it is gaining more traction. Just because you are a "good guy", doesn't mean you need to be a "nice guy". Another I enjoy is "Temper mercy with wisdom.", as there's a lot of times lacking wisdom or insight will come back to bite one.
I have no issue with the way things are done here. You can safely assume that if I did, I would not be so silent about it. Accounting for this, if anyone is problematic, it is probably myself given my characters are typically antagonistic and rarely heroic; Sakaala abides by the rule that "Good isn't nice."
Once I know the initiative order and who is to do or go where and what, I will post my combat actions since the encounter just started. I just wanted an interim post so as to not suddenly appear in combat.
There was a familiar scent to the air, familiar yet foreign enough to not immediately have called out to Brannor's thoughts - the rest of the scene that had become Greenest a worthy distraction - but the moment he came to realize what it was, it was only making more sense. Efforts to burn the tiny, humble abodes had been made, yet whoever had been responsible failed to properly ignite them; fortunate that proved to be, in part. Slowing slightly, fingers flexing about the grip of the mighty greatsword in anticipation, he heard the onset of running feet that drew ever closer by the moment, all of which found themselves in a small group.
It was as he had hoped, not raiders or thieves, but fleeing townsfolk - man and children, followed by a woman who brandished a battered shield and splintered spear. The man roused one of the children who had collapsed, scooping them up from the earthen intersection that had crossed the band and Brannor's path. Attentive to his surroundings, the man's strong, golden eyes flashed to the elf who, in one fluid motion, drew up her bow and knocked an arrow.
She had heard it too... in fact, all of the hunters seemed to.
The mob of eight or so kobolds, shrouded in the ash, smoke and flames of what one could only assume was their doing, snarled and menaced. They seemed to be what the people moments earlier were fleeing from, having only been held back from overwhelming the escapees by the spear bearing woman. Even now, as the two groups set eyes on one another, they threatened at the slightest of movements like a pack of rabid mongrels.
An exhale came, the amalgamation of chain, hide and leather armor that rested upon the man's breast depressing ever so slightly; there was no doubt about the conviction he could feel in the thunder that now was his heart's beat - it was a fury, a hungering one. The sensation was a rush, a lust to beat back the darkness that bloomed from these creatures' nature and it filled his blood with the want to strike out.
My intent is to have a post this coming afternoon, even if it is just Brannor reacting to Parum. Something to keep the momentum of the events moving rather than nothing.
They certainly are sentient and sapient to my memory, but they are also warriors themselves. Strange to think of, but not much more strange than other intelligent mounts.
Because I am fortunate as I am to have good friends and better yet, their company and talent to call upon, all of my characters who I portray with an actual image have it tailored uniquely to them. But within this and the context of the question at hand, I can safely say the answer is "No, not by conventional standards or attractiveness." A few reasons for this stems from the truth that I play more monstrous sorts, be them outright monsters such as half-beasts or shapechangers, the latter whose identities lie in their non-human form or forms.
In a way, because my characters are so colored red by their animal nature and influence, many are scarred or even in some cases, suffering lingering injury that helps identify them or humanize them despite the truth they might be only vaguely human. They are certainly not "ugly", but most would consider them little more than savage races or just predators of prey outright.
If and when I do need to portray humans, I tend to keep bit tone down these elements, as I do not play the charismatic or forward types; at best they might be near or above average, but it is never mandatory to their identity. I tend avoid imagery of people for that reason - most are, as some others have said, "too perfect".
That sounds about the same. I am sure I missed some more of the cat mounts, sadly. I still have the panther, leopard and lioness - I wasn't around for the tiger, sadly enough.
