Blood Compact: Apocalypse

Introduction <

Approximately 2000 years ago, a strange strain of mutations appeared in the human species. A new strain of humans appeared to emerge, with strangely morphed physiologies and inhuman appetites. They were stronger and faster than normal humans, as well as appearing to be nearly immortal. These strange beings were called demons, angels, spirits and gods. But in the end, a single name stuck. One that perhaps described this new species of humans best. They were henceforth called..... vampires!

Now, of course, we are well aware that these changes are not supernatural in origin. Instead they are the direct result of exposure to the strange lifeform Obscurus Sanguis, also referred to as the Vampire Virus. This strain of rogue cells is able to infiltrate the host body, and to drastically alter it. In this lecture we will be discussing the nature of Obscurus Sanguis, as well as the effect it has on the human body and the various existing strains.

I'm pretty sure The Priestess is with him, currently.

I'm currently working on a massive intro post for Blood Compact: Apocalypse.

Also, as Freelancer's main goal was to oppose the Purge, I fear it would have relatively little to do in a world without the Purge.

Good, the people here had the common sense to listen to an agent of the Inquisition. He could feel the powers of the Warp closing in, and he knew it wouldn't be long before this world was hit by a Warp Storm of great intensity. He had no guarantees that the world itself would not be destroyed by the fury of it. He looked to those in the room, and he knew that they weren't ready. These people had never been touched by the power of the Warp, they had never been saved by the grace of the Emperor. And now their blessing would be turned to a curse, as they would find themselves vastly underprepared to face the Ruinous Powers. "The storm will assault your minds as well as your bodies. If you wish not to die, then take into mind whatever brings you safety. Be it your house, your wife, your job, your boss, or your teddy bear. And hold that image in your head as if it were all that stands between you and absolute annihilation. Because as from this moment, that image will be the only thing keeping you sane."

Perhaps not the most encouraging of speeches, but a useful one. The image of security would be a necessity, as fear would only grant the Daemon a handle to pull on. And an open mind would get them killed, this fairly simple mental exercise would prevent random thoughts from flickering into their consciousness. Including those from outside.

That, of course, was when the Warp Storm hit. Reality seemed to crack open as purple storm clouds covered the entire solar system. Purple lightning bolts the width of moons ripped through the vacuum, as furious Chaos Winds rushed over the planet. A psychic maelstrom devoured the minds of millions, as they were overwhelmed by the immense amount of psionic energy being battered into their brains. Two of those present began to twist and writhe, their forms being mutated to mirror their broken minds. Not quite Daemon, but far from human. A bolter round in each put a swift end to them, and the combination of Valentus' advice and his warding presence prevented any further casualties within this room. But outside, the apocalypse had come.

All communications had broken down, any vehicle or object that had remained in orbit was swiftly devoured. The planet's moon was swiftly destroyed, crushed to rubble and spread across the vastness of space. The ground shook and the air seemed to become solid with invisible arcane power. Screeches and roars filled the air, as the planet's population was exposed to the mutating powers of the Warp. Hundreds were turned to Chaos in moments, as the Dominion's armies unexpectedly began to fight amongst themselves. The world was in chaos, and Valentus formed a pillar of sanity within this realm of madness and death, and those with him in that moment realized that they were being shielded from the worst effects by the power of his presence alone.

"Tell me, are there any bunkers on this planet. We must make our way towards the most heavily fortified location this planet has to offer. A good store of weaponry and ammo would also be good. This planet is doomed, we merely need to weather the storm until it passes." To Valentus, the horrors outside were nothing new. This world had no hope of surviving the power of Chaos turned against them, but this was merely a herald to the second wave. For the Warp Storm brought with it the powers of the Warp, and the Daemon would soon descend upon this world and any others in the system. And with a Warp Storm of this power, the Daemon summoned by it would be a truly terrifying force. And Valentus alone could not face off against the legions of the Dark Gods and live once again.

"Teleportation is merely the act of compressing the space between here and there. When one has access to the power of the Warp, one soon realizes that the laws of this world are not as solid as they may seem." With that explanation, he gestured at the wall. A crackling rift in reality opened, as he created a portal through the warp. He would rather avoid such measures, but he could sense that this battle was quite a distance from his current position, and it cost less energy to do it this way. "Of course, sometimes, it's best to take a shortcut through the realms of the Immaterium, where space is but an illusion."

He accepted that Yoh and Gojira-san would explore the city, but he did not open a portal for them. "Those of you who would confront the enemy, walk through this portal. Those who would rather explore, remain close to the palace. Here, I may directly protect you in the event of danger. But the further you walk from this palace, the more my capability to intervene decreases." The vast marble doors opened up, revealing the way to the outside world. Many tourist shops could be seen, although a few of them had been partially demolished to make way for the newly formed Imperial Palace.

He then addressed Akina, as she headed towards this newly created portal. "You, however, will remain here. I believe I may be able to help in finding the source of this distortion. However, I will need all of your knowledge on interdimensional travel. If I am to hunt down what brought us here, I must know what I am looking for. The rest of you are free to go. If I sense that you are in distress, I will open a return portal, to allow you to escape." He looked over to Akina, who was no doubt disappointed. "And I will need your permission, to enter your mind and gain the knowledge you hold. It is the fastest way, and it will be the first step to solving this dilemma." Little did Akina know that Nova referred not to their current situation, but to a far larger issue.

Meanwhile, both Asoka and Starkiller would be astounded to find a crackling rift in reality opening amidst their fighting. A divine light emanated from this rift, filling the area with a strange, reassuring presence. Several figures would emerge from this rift, who would no doubt wish to intervene with this battle. If Starkiller were not to retreat, or start utilizing his full power, he would find himself in rather dire straits indeed.

I could reboot it. I profess myself a decent GM, and I'd like to go a bit back to the roots of Blood Compact. With relatively limited magic, and relatively low-powered vampires. No super-death-monsters like the ones we have now, as characters like Gabriel, Bedhivere and the Pale Lady made human victory practically impossible.

Good Morning.
@supertinyking@Snarfulblast@Wraithblade6
The sky seemed to twist and turn, and Eclipse could sense some powerful extradimensional force battering at the laws of reality. The Warp Storm seems to intensify, even as a massive hole opens in the sky. And much as the Necron Armies had been pulled to this world mere moments before, it seemed a new horror would unveil itself. For looking up through the perfectly clear sky, a new moon could be seen in orbit around the planet. Or rather, a massive asteroid, upon which rested a fortress the size of a large city. Lightning crackled around it, revealing massive and powerful force fields that shielded it from the Warp. And as Immorteth looked up, he would find the image likened in the Necron's vast database. And perhaps in some part of his mechanical mind, he could feel a shred of fear. An emotion that had been all but lost to the Necron race since the devouring of their souls.

This was the Rock of Eternity, the traveling headquarters of the Dark Angels. The first of the Space Marine Chapters, the first Legion of the First Founding, greatest among their brethren, and matched in their glory only by the Ultramarines. Above them floated a thousand of the Imperium's most dangerous and elite Space Marines, coupled with an army of supporting tanks and Dreadnoughts. In addition to this, the Rock seemed to have deployed it's battlefleet, great ships emerging from the sides of the rocky space station. Immorteth needed little more to realize what was to come.

Through the Warp rained a hailstorm of steel, as dozens of Drop Pods rained down on the Necron Armies. Squads of Warriors were instantly crushed, as the impact tore through walls and buildings. The massive steel carrying vessels opening to revealing squads of Space Marines, instantly engaging in silent battle, each shot aimed true. Each of these warriors was one of the Imperium's best, with hundreds of battles behind them. Expertly aimed shots shattered Necron skulls, as missiles and grenades shattered their orderly formations. A Dreadnought marched through the enemy lines, massive autocannon ripping through their armour even as the Gaus blasts ripped into it's own. But most deadly of all was the Deathwing, an army of 100 bone-white Terminators. The very first company, the elite of the elite. To have every single member fighting on the same battlefield was a nightmare come true, as they fired their massive Plasma Canons and unleashed volleys of missiles.

Immorteth looked back on his armies only to see the Monolith exploding, as what appeared to be a small nuclear missile struck it. He was cut off from the main body of his forces, and there were enemies all around. The Dark Angels were well coordinated, and even as their main forces engaged the Necron Army, no doubt their would be groups patrolling around their perimeter to annihilate stragglers. It was an odd reversal of the situation, as the Necron found himself suddenly in need of faster legs.

However, the Dark Angels' inevitable victory would not be an easy one. For the citizens of Tsubasa had been twisted into horrifying creatures, tendrils and claws extending from their bodies as they unleashed volleys of devastating Warp blasts on both sides. The forces of chaos spread destruction indiscriminately, emerging from the Warp to feast on the battlefield. For they had claimed this world with their storms, and their fury burned brighter than ever before.
@Snarfulblast
They can't be corrupted by Chaos. Or at the very least, not a single Grey Knight has been corrupted in the last 10.000 years. However, the Warp can kill them if they're not careful. The Warp is a dangerous and volatile thing, and if you channel too much of it the results can be devastating. An uncareful Psyker might explode, or be set on fire, or might find their body being spread across all of time and space. Hence why Valentus was gambling with his life.

@supertinyking
I dunno. Their weaponry is massively inferior, and the only thing preventing a mass Chaos possession is the complete loyalty the humans of the Imperium have for their Emperor. The Dominion would find their civilians turning into Daemon en masse, their soldiers turning against them, madness and plague spreading through their ranks even as the Daemon tear into their more powerful units. They furthermore completely lack anti-Warp weaponry such as that boasted by the Grey Knights, and have no defence against the Warp Storm, which can devour entire worlds and rip apart solar systems.

But yeah, I'll throw some shit at Tor-6 (=
Sorry for my prolonged absence, I was moving all my stuff to a new room. And for quite some time I had no access to the internet.

The reason Valentus did not sense the Heresy Train was due to the Warp Disturbance, the very same one that brought the Necron to Tsubasa. I also thought it might not be smart to throw Valentus into a fight right now. He could handle 5 Chaos Marines with relative ease, even without his armour, but mutagens might form a problem. And he's rather psychically exhausted right now.

BTW Tiny, you mind if I throw some shit at Tor-6?
