Just a random guy, doing random things. Main RP: Hell's Coffee Lounge Current RPs change often enough that it's too much effort keeping a list of them updated.

@Dealdric
That would be Guilt, the teleporter.
@Dealdric
Who are you referring to with 'fire starter'? Because the one who started the fire is Guilt, a teleportation-powered antihero who's been fighting the telekinetic guy. However in your latest post it seems like you think Guilt and 'fire starter' are two different people?
@Mercenary Lord
The substance being used is in fact a titanium-carbon weave, a clothlike substance that would hypothetically possess incredible properties. I didn't want to go into the details of the actual material, considering the complexity of the matter. And the fact that I could easily rant for days about how cool materials like that are.

But to be simple....
Guilt threw a tablecloth on the baddie, and then set it on fire.
As my character is likely to explode in one way or another within the near future, I figured I should make another application. And as apparently there is a need for villains... well, lemme give my best shot at an 'evil mastermind' character.

Name: Nikitovich Alexiva Northwald

Epic Identity: the Jack of Spades

Age: 28

Faction: Epic (Villain)

Ability:

[The Game of Life]
A most unusual power, the Jack's power manifests as strange runic script. When applied to the surface it's appearance is like a language that's impossible to read. These runes in fact function as a sort of 'code'. They are capable of storing and performing complex actions. In fact a network of runes forms a sort of 'computer', activating in certain ways when certain triggers are present. The more complex the triggers and actions, the larger the 'network' must be. The runes are capable of detecting triggers through method of 'spatial detection', allowing them to detect anything physical within 10m of the runes themselves. They are incapable of detecting non-physical powers, intangible beings, or thoughts. Large networks can increase their 'detection radius' to up to 50m. They can act within their detection radius, as long as at least one of the runes within the network is within line of sight of the target. Even slight damage to a rune network will destroy it, causing it to discharge any remaining energy. While it is possible for a network of runes to create another network, the created network would be far smaller. And the bigger network would have had to specifically been created for the purpose of creating that specific smaller network.

[Borrowed Power]
In and of themselves, the runes are useless. However, they are capable of absorbing and storing energy from their surroundings in order to power their abilities. The stored energy can be directed through the runes, often to attack others. Most networks are only capable of absorbing and redirecting a single type of energy. Usually only kinetic energy is absorbed and redirected, powered by the gravitational pull and rotation of the planet. However, with a different energy source, different effects can be achieved. Such as a solar-powered network which shoots lasers. Other Epics and Freaks can be used as power sources, with their life force drained for them. Such a network would in fact be able to use that Epic's power. However, parts of the Network would have to be engraved directly onto the source's body, and as such the source would have to be unconscious or heavily restrained for an extended period of time for this to work. If absolutely necessary, it is possible for the Jack to convert his own lifeforce into energy, refilling the energy a network is supposed to manipulate at the cost of his own physical well-being. This is a last-ditch power.

Weakness: The Genuine Happiness of others will drain power from any rune networks within range. The more genuine the happiness, the greater the effect. True love tends to completely wipe them out.

Personality: An arrogant and twisted figure, who's true goal is to spread misery and suffering. He despises those without power for being born 'lesser', and delights in the agony of others. Especially those he considers his inferior. He believes that this world belongs to the strong, but brute strength is not strength at all. Instead, he believes cunning is the greatest 'strength' of all. Those who only face him with brute force will be met with scorn, but those who manage to outwit him may earn his respect. Strangely, despite being a villain, he respects the High greatly for their power. However, he is all too willing to 'test' their 'chosen heroes' within this city, and wishes to one day be feared and worshipped much like the High are.

Appearance: trying to find a picture, failing >.>

Background: Will be elaborated on if this initial character concept it okay.
@Dealdric
Is it me, or are you playing an Eldar?

So it seemed that brute force would not solve this situation. Her attack was met with the stranger's own force. Unlike her opponent Guilt was unable to directly control the fire tornado, she could only guide it's path. As such, when the stranger pushed back directly, there was little she could do but yield. In truth such an attack was extremely weak against a telekinetic opponent, but she had never intended to attack him with this directly. It's flashiness had been equal parts setup and distraction.

But before Guilt was able to enact the later stages of her plan, the stranger counterattacked. Showing surprising cool under fire, he ripped off Guilt's mask with a gesture. Suddenly this vital part of her was destroyed, and her breath caught in her throat. Damn. She'd hoped he'd be too occupied with her attack to counter. She cursed herself as she was launched into a nearby building by a telekinetic assault. Only her quick reflexes saved her as she removed the wall before she hit it, before teleporting away into the sky. By reorienting herself and counterbalancing her momentum with the pull of gravity she was able to negate the force, slowing herself down to an acceptable velocity before reappearing on the ground. This time she appeared without light or sound, at the opposite end of the street from where she had been before.

Raw, unfiltered air burned her lungs. Without her mask, this air was poison to her. She was able to replace it with relative ease, but even the few gasping breaths she had been forced to take had burned her. It was an aching pain, as if her internal organs had been set on fire, and Guilt knew she couldn't take much more of that. She had another 3 or so spare masks in Void, but she lacked the precision to simply teleport them onto her head. She needed to actually manually put them on. And she had no way of blocking that attack.

How had he known about her weakness? Was he a member of..... 'them'? The group that was hunting her down even now? They hadn't dared enter Epic City before, but that didn't mean they never could. But no, this guy hadn't given two shits about her. He was here for some other reason. She was just a roadblock, something that got in the way. So how could he have that information? He had mentioned an ally before, could it be he was supported by a telepath? If so, then she was at a serious disadvantage here. Regardless of the reason, she had underestimated this opponent, and paid the price. This could not happen again.

If she could not avoid his attack, she would need to stop him from attacking in the first place. Without light or sound, a large black curtain would appear above and around the pair of combatants. The cloth was woven from special materials, designed to withstand up to 10 tons of pressure. Similarly, large weights had been placed at the corners and anchored to the ground. It had no hope of containing him for long, but it would occupy him for a moment at least. His telekinesis, it suffered from the same weaknesses as her power. Without line of sight, there was nothing he could do to her. She had yet to meet a telekinetic who could manipulate unseen objects. And, of course, while his ability could be used to block any physical attack.... his resistance to energy was no greater than a human's. A gesture would surround him and the cloth with a thick layer of high-powered fuel. With the heat and flames caused by her previous attack it instantly ignited, turning into a shower of bright blue flames. While the cloth was incredibly durable it also conducted heat quite well, and would provide no real protection against the flames. Purple lightning brought with it more flames to fill the surrounding area, turning the entire battlefield into nothing more than a huge bonfire, with the stranger at the centre.

Guilt was shielded from the worst of it by a field of cold air and a maintained layer of vacuum, preventing any contact with the superheated air. However, even from 30 meters away, the sheer infrared was bafflingly hot. She could feel her skin baking, and her hair being singed. In the centre of the conflagration she must have raised the temperature to well over 500 degrees Celsius, easily hot enough to slay any normal human. She would cook him like a thanksgiving turkey. If this didn't work, nothing will.
@KoL
Really? I didn't see most of those. Oh well. This RP does have a lot of characters, and I sometimes have trouble keeping track of them all.

Oh and Damage absorption would be overpowered if you could use it on yourself. But if you can only use it on other people, it becomes quite an interesting ability. Healing with a twist.
@The 42nd Gecko

From what I've seen each of your characters' powersets have one glaring weakness. Such as Alexi being useless against AOE attacks. She could probably match Khaine in a swordfight despite being physically superior, using martial prowess and her tricks. But the moment someone pulls out an AOE, which almost everyone can, all her abilities are useless. If you want a powerful moveset, you should go with something that covers all the bases, or at least one with a less common weakness.

Some suggestions:
- Kinetic energy absorption and redirection, combined with a basic knowledge of physics
- turning your body into any kind of matter (golem), especially liquid or gaseous
- rearranging atoms to create complex substances in anything touched
- creating 'bubbles' within which you can teleport any object.
- absorbing and redirecting 'damage' to and from others
- controlling (hard)light to create illusions, lasers, and barriers

There's plenty of powersets that can be both creative and powerful. I'd recommend looking at anime like 'Jojo's Bizarre Adventure' for inspiration, although such abilities can be found in nearly any Shonen anime nowadays.
@The 42nd Gecko
AOE attacks appear to be her main weakness, as she relies on martial skill and dodging rather than durability. She'd fare much better against a combat character like Titanica, who's AOE attacks are more limited.
@Regitnui
It's a pretty dangerous attack, but there's plenty of ways to avoid it if this guy is as powerful as he seems to be with his 'the High be damned' attitude.
