Where are they, Cole thought as he scanned the area. Listening to what was being said while on the lookout for any sign of trouble. But, other than the statue returning to normal, nothing else happened. Nothing at all, no yell or a charge by Chaos cultists. Like this little stunt was not a precursor to anything like an ambush. Just blatant display of Chaos illusions and magic in the open like this. These Chaos cultists are bold for doing something like this, and Cole did not like it. Though the cultist might get too bold and slip up for the team to take advantage of. If they slip up and nothing is ever easy when Chaos is involved.
Cole stayed at the ready until Stukov approached and said to regroup. Giving Stukov a simple confirming nod and he lowered his weapon. Before returning to the team, he took one last look at the statue of the Emperor. Standing there as nothing had even happened, and it was never a heretical statue of Khorne. It made him think about what other tricks these cultists are willing to use on this world. Guess they will find that out.
Returning to the group but, listening for the sound of enemy fire or something noticeable just in case this is actually an ambush. Still, it was good that Andromedai was okay. Wearing power armor really makes it hard to get hurt. Though not so much for the tree that she hit and him if it was not for Adrianne's quick thinking. As the team discussed, Cole kept an eye out for anything, and when Adrianne sensed a psyker in a building nearby. Without looking at it and on comms just to be safe. "I suggest we pay our new friend a visit before they decide to run."
It was another busy day at Võsalu Industries. At its headquarters and its local factories is just down the road. One for automobiles and one for airships, respectively. Their newest airship was set to be finished this week. Something that Teuvo was proud of and after hours of coming up with designs with his engineers. However, he would have wished for a bigger hand in it. The demands of running a successful company mean that he can't always be there to help and plan out new designs with his team. Someone has to handle the management and secure the resources needed to operate this company. Something that Teuvo had so far been successful at.
Teuvo himself was sitting at his desk in his office. Leaning forward in his chair and studying a blueprint of an airship that was covered his desk. Looking over intently at the design and sone design notes being scattered across the desk. Almost in a mess as Teuvo took a sip from his cup that was in one of the few open spots on his desk. This airship was particularly important to Teuvo. For it was a personal endeavor that Teuvo personally designed. The first airship of his design and one that he felt confident it would succeed. Though doubts from one of the company's few failures, the Karos class airship, which was launched this year, was still in his mind. Despite the high hopes he had for that airship, it just simply did not sell well enough to cover the development costs. Still, Teuvo hopes that his brainchild does not suffer the same fate. But, time will tell within a week when the first one will premiere if it will share the same fate as the Karos.
As Teuvo was too busy reviewing the blueprints for his airship, he did not notice someone knocking at his door and slipped in. A young woman with medium length brown hair and slowly walked up to his desk. Then when she was close enough, she slammed her fists on the desk. Causing Teuvo to snap to attention with eyes wide open. Initially confused but then relaxed and sighed when he saw the face of the source of the noise. "Raili, did you have to do that? You could have said something and not slam your fists on my desk."
"But, where would the fun be in that, speaking with a playful tone and with a smirk. And you seemed to ignore me when I at the door, so I thought I should improvise, and that seemed to have worked." Finishing her sentence with a smile, "I know how... focused you can be with you are working on something".
"Still, try and resort to something else next time, please." Teuvo knowing his sister well enough that may be in vain but, it does not hurt to try anyway. Leaning back in his chair and taking another sip from his cup. "So what did you wish to take about?"
"Uhhh, well...." Raili looked down nervously at her feet and before looking back at Teuvo. "I heard from Maia that your latest lead about the saboteur has turned up cold." Looking almost regretful about speaking about it. "I just wanted to know how you are. I know how much you want to find mother and father's killers."
Teuvo's face changed from relaxed to an almost angry one. Trying to hold back the anger and anguish of his recent failure. A real lead that might have led him to find his parents' murderer just led to a dead end, just like all the others. He abruptly got out of his chair and moved towards the large window in his office. Looking out of it and without looking at Raili, he spoke with sadden restraint, "I... thought that this lead could lead somewhere but,... as you know, it was just a waste of time." Teuvo took a series of deep breaths and turned his head towards Raili. "I will be fine, Raili... I will find a new lead. I always do."
"Are you sure, Teuvo? Raili walked right next to Teuvo and looked up at him. "I know I have said this before but, you know that you can talk to me about this." Raili reached out and held his hand. "I still miss them too."
"I...", Teuvo sighed. "I know Raili and...." Now turning to face his sister, "I promise you that I will be alright. Do not worry about me."
"I will hold you to that promise, brother," and Raili went in for a hug, which Teuvo posed no resistance to. Hugging each other for a short time before Teuvo noticed out of the corner of his eye, an Asgardian airship came into view. At first, it only brought up angry thoughts of the occupation, but then he remembered something important.
"Wait, what time is it?" Exiting the embrace, and looked at his pocket watch. "Shoot, I might be late, and I am sorry Raili for cutting this short but, I got to go." Walking to the coat rack to get his coat.
"Wait, where are you going?" Raili asked while looking confused.
"I got to meet a friend, and I will be back soonish, and I can trust you can hold down the fort until I get back?" Teuvo kindly smirked at her.
Raili had a confident look and crossed her arms, "I might not be in charge, but I know how to handle things, so I think I handle it."
Without another word, Teuvo gave his sister a quick hug before departing from his office while wearing a brown coat. Quickly heading towards the street and flagging down a magicar taxi. Getting in the back seat and told the driver to head to a place near Baron Hesser's manor. While he would prefer to drive there, he felt better doing this when it deals with his second occupation. Once the magicar reached its destination, Teuvo paid the driver and walked the rest of the way. Minding his business, and checked his pocket watch. "Yes," he said quietly to himself. He is going to make it with some time to space. Good, he thought he would be late for a second there.
When he finally reached the manor, he spotted a gnome near the front gate. Guess he is here for the meeting, too, though they seem to be just standing around. Teuvo thought as he got closer. Looking at his pocket watch again, he's got time to kill before the meeting starts. Screw it, might as well see who this conehead is. As he approached the gnome, "Hey and how are you doing? Mind me asking who you are, and are you waiting for someone?"
A new airship will be unveiled this week Teuvo has another dead-end lead Leaves his sister in charge while he is gone Takes a taxi near to the manor then walking there Teuvo asks who Winston is
"Frick, Frick, Frick, Frick!" Vi did not have the time to see what his teammates had done to the bioconstruct before it fired its mortars in his direction. Having barely enough time to being directly hit but was close enough that the blast sent his invisible body towards a tree. Hitting it with a loud thud and Vin landed on his stomach. Adding to the pain that he still had from the crash. "Ahhhhh," he moaned in pain as he gripped his weapon. "First the crash and now nearly getting mortared," He said quietly but annoyed to himself. "I am tired of being throw around today."
As he slowly got up, Vin noticed that his armor was flicking. "No," and Vin knew what was happening. His cloaking field was failing, and before he could do something about it. The field dissipated, and now he was clear for those all to see. "Damn it all," he said in anger as he immediately moved to cover behind a tree. Bring up the holographic interface on his wrist. Checking his cloaking system, and unfortunately, he could not bring it back up. The blast from the mortar temporarily shorted it out. Vin can bring it back up by rebooting it but, that will take time before he can use it again. Vin sighed, "And I was having such a fine day," he said sarcastically to himself.
Without stealth anymore on his side, Vin reconsidered his options. From trying to be a nuisance to the enemy as his team was busy killing them. It was obvious that he can't go solo anymore, and he was almost hit already. Now is the time to regroup with his teammates and head towards the nav marked on his HUD. Seeing first hand who this mysterious voice is and hopefully find sanctuary from this place. As Vin started to make his way to the rest of his team, did the mysterious voice came on again. The messages only made Vin doubled timed it and as fast as he could to the nav marker. He does not want to lose the now precious window of escaping somewhere safe. Hoping that his team can take down the somehow still alive bioconstruct. Why can't that thing just die, Vin thought as he ran through the forest.
Cole stood there like a statue as Andromedai spoke to the women. Keeping an eye on the man in the back, just in case he decides to do something. He was confident that his comrades could handle the women if things go that way. Cole slowly unholstered his lasgun and brought it into a relaxed position but held on tightly to it. Ready to keep his weapon to bear if the pair try anything.
Cowards they are, Cole thought as the information came out. So a demoness appeared to them in the open and spoke of endless wonder to them. Not speaking a word of it to anyone for fear of death or worse and carried on their day as nothing happened. Stupid and cowardly, nothing ends well if Chaos is involved. Especially if two of the Chaos gods are involved. Letting the matter go and no letting some kind of authority know of this. They might as well dammed this planet, and death normally comes to those that keep the activities of Chaos a secret.
Cole was surprised by Andromedai's decision to have them arrested rather than execute them. He might have said something about it but, Cole knew his place with Andromedai. Keeping his opinions to himself over this. Guess, Andromedai is feeling merciful today with these two. He mentally shrugged, but the rest of the suspects may not be so lucky since he doubted that all of them were as scared as these two. Might have one of those suspects considered the offer from that demoness. However, they will find out today if the is the case. If they do not flee, that is.
As the group walked to their next target, Cole listened to what his comrades had to say about the whole thing. To the shape the demons may take and how much trouble this is going to be. Meanwhile, Cole started to scan their surroundings as he walked. Just checking if anyone looked suspicious while on the way to their next target.
Then Cole saw the statue of Khorne. That should not be here, and why is it out in the open like this. Why did no one report or allowed this to be built. Cole thought to himself as to why in the Emperor's name was this here. He was focused on the statue that he did not notice the black eye woman before it was too late. It was lucky that Adrianne managed to get a barrier up to shield them from the blast. Though not so lucky for Andromedai, who got lanched into a tree that almost snapped in half. Cole quickly readied his weapon, and without any orders from Stukov. He chose to cover Stukov while he moved up to the statue. While scanning the surroundings for any sign of trouble or movement. You do not just leave a bomb like that in the open if you were not expecting someone. If he did not have a bad feeling before, he does now.
Vin was busy cursing under his breath as each nearly hitting projectile passed by. Missing him by mere inches and even though he was invisible. One of these pricks might accidentally hit him at this rate and after another miss that too close for comfort. Vin took cover behind a tree and took a moment to think. Looking behind him to get a look at the battlefield. Vin fist pump as he saw the destruction caused by his teammates. Nice to see their attackers take some punishment. A number of their ambushers down, but still, there were others to deal with.
Then Vin picked up a signal that indicated that they all are being targeted. "Ah, come on," He said annoyingly, as things were turning in their favor after surviving the crash and initial ambush. Now they have to avoid artillery strikes now. These guys really want them dead and gone.
Before Vin could relay this to his teammates, the voice came on again. Only this time, they were clear as day. Telling them that they being targeted by plasma mortars and that they needed to get to the safe zone. Easier said than done when you got a target on your back and have to dodge mortar strikes. Still, they knew where sanctuary was thanks to the mysterious voice who placed a navigational marker on their HUD. Now is the matter of getting there in one piece.
Then as Vin was about to move towards the safe zone, the voice came on again. This time worried about the lingering bioconstruct and ordered to take it out before it could alert anyone. Looking down at his plasma carbine, it would be nice to contribute for a change than to simply be running for a place to regroup. He still had stealth on his side with his cloaking still working. It would be easy to flank the bioconstruct and give his teammates time to properly take the thing down, which sounds to him like a plan, and after giving a good look around, to find the bioconstruct. He slowly made his way to a good flanking spot on the thing's right side, behind a tree, and once he was ready. He fired a volley of plasma at the creature before quickly moving to a new spot. Vin is going to tick this thing off so his teammates can get a shot on this thing and kill it. One less thing to worry about the better.
