With rage coloured glasses, Dorian missed the fact that Chase was genuinely upset by this vision. Upset by the fact that he was once again being cast as the villain even when he was making strides to become a better person, to become someone who wasn’t his parents. All Dorian saw, was the person who bullied Percy and made him so distasteful of interactions, the person who commanded shadows as they watched a vision in which an army of them opposed Excelsior, a person whose card was as finicky as the person's relationships with the group. The Wheel was always turning, always changing, for better or for worse, and that was exactly what Chase would do. He would sell the whole team down the River Styx if it meant getting a single corn chip, and Dorian was sure of that. All of that had to be abandoned, as Danni decided to shake him violently while questioning something he hadn’t done yet. ”Danni I don’t know! It ‘asn’t ‘appened yet, and if I can avoid it, it won’t ‘appen ever!” Another chilling thought took its place however. If he did kill himself, why didn’t his parents just bring him back? They could, after all, unless they were too ashamed of what he’d done, unless they agreed with the punishment he’d chosen, or unless…they weren’t around either. Dorian’s mind went back to the vision in the Astral, to the desolate land that was before him with graves for all the people he loved in one place. Did his mistake somehow bring about the end of the world? Was Percy trying to avert two tragedies at once? Dorian narrowed his eyes at Danni as he continued to shake him. ”Eit’er of you squirt me and you’ll get coated in Ectoplasm.”

”If we’re meant to ally wit’ t’e Witch, t’en we need to figure out exactly who she is and what she wants and stands for. We may–- “ Dorians’ thoughts were cut off as April began to ask everyone to not speak about suicide. Right…in all the commotion he had forgotten that they even attempted it back then. His eyes were cast downwards as he looked to the ground, silent. Even Leah had known better and was trying to sway everyone off the topic and onto what was actually needed. Percy had begun to stir back awake and was suddenly interested in raiding Nemo’s office, his office? It was all way too weird and convoluted for Dorian to want to understand right now. Even Vicky seemed extremely worried about the pair of them, though mostly Dorian. ”I’ll try my best to get some of t’e more important details down, it’s… a lot to write down and we don’t ‘ave a lot of time, but I can brin it wit’ me incase we need more on t’e road. We can also figure out…t’at, later too. I just want to make sure our eyes are on everyt’in’ t’at ‘appens so we aren’t caught blindsided again. We can look into food and provisions, figure out a way to ‘elp you stay upright, and get back t’e people we lost, but first…Perce you and I need to ‘ave a chat I t’ink. T’ere’s…a lot to discuss.”

Chase felt as Ben leaned into the touch, a smile barely touching the corner of his lips as he felt what was beginning to become a familiar feeling. He looked over at the Giant. He wasn't sure what she wanted from him or what the topic of conversation would be, but whatever it was he supposed he could humor her. Though it didn’t escape his mind that she could simply be saying that while assigning herself to be on babysitting duty with who they likely viewed as their villain of the week. ”Well which is it gonna be? You helpin’ him break in or you want to chat with me? Unless Percival is ok with waiting on the whole Office thing. Either way –” He turned to look over at Danni and Ben. It was nice to know that he had at least two people in his corner pocket who were willing to vouch for him and defend him. Even if Ben did have the strength of a small Victorian child, it was still cute to watch him get so defensive over him. ”Nah you're good Bug Boi. Besides, you’re my liege and I your knight, it is I who must defend you and keep you safe. To that point.”

He gave Danni a pointed look before smiling and speaking. ”Keep him safe Danny Boi, not a hair on his head gets harmed you hear me? You are the Knight assigned to look over my liege while I am absent in diplomatic duties. And Benny, I'll be back in a bit. Just gotta clear my head and chat with the Jolly Green Giant over here.” Chase rustled Ben's hair before placing a kiss atop his head. He held his hand out for the Knights that had barred the path to come to him. They began marching in unison towards past him and Leah before they all merged into a singular dark and nebulous form, solidifying themselves into an ornate Gothic door before it opened, showing a yawning dark void on the other side. ”You coming Jolly Green? You pick the topics but I'm choosing the location. So let's move it before this doorway closes. I can't hold it forever.”

Demi saw the slight twitch in Zeke's eyes as he stepped in closer to him. He worried that this might become their first fight, maybe even their first physical fight. As Zeke narrowed his eyes, Demi tried not to back down, holding his ground before finally being able to relax and let out the breath he'd been holding. ”Good to know Wonder Boy here has some sense to him after all. Z's right about that much at least. Get some food, drink, and maybe take a nap. I'm sure I can find a way to entertain myself and avoid Aster all at the same time.”

Demi had already started moving away, happy with the result of their little tag team, before halting dead in his tracks at Zeke's question. ”Oh. Yeah, uh, they say if you see the water bubbling, then it means the Spirit of this Killer is active. There's actually a lot of info on this guy, ways to avoid him, signs he's coming, none of it good. So if the waters calm, we should be pretty good.”

It wasn’t hard to figure out how she’d done it. Not to Sam at least, but to hear he was spot on was something that gave him a bit of pride in his work, one that almost immediately vanished as the subject continued on with the missing persons report. He wondered if there was any such report back home, if they were searching for him or even his partner or if perhaps no one even noticed or cared. When he went back home, would there be a body? Would he even go home after everything that happens here? A piece of him wondered if he would win and simply use the money to begin a new life instead. His mouth suddenly felt incredibly dry as his mind continued to wander. ”It’s a shaky alibi at best, but with no real proof what can they do? Especially if there’s no physical body to even investigate. Do you think he’d be capable of doing it again Lena? I’m sure he isn’t exactly thrilled at the idea of some of the money that he could be having going over into the hands of complete strangers.” Sam pulled a seat at the table and sat into it as he stared at the PDF that was pulled up on Lawrence. His finger tapping against his lips as he wondered if he should ask his question out loud or keep it to himself.

”Do you do research on all the nominees before they get here? I know we’ve been told that the Matriarch does all the final selections, but I doubt it’s purely based off of vibes alone. Do you help her find out more about the candidates? Or if not, do you look them up yourself just to see what might be coming in?” There was blackmail given to most everyone here after all, so Sam figured the best one to find it and dig it up for the rest to see would be Lena. But maybe she got too clumsy, Lawrence saw the one on Renee and took her out before she could siphon even more money from the family. That didn’t explain Miguel however. There were too many coincidences and nothing what quite lining up correctly yet. They didn’t have all of the pieces, and they barely even had a picture to try and make of it.

”It’s an ecto-blast, and yeah…I’ve been workin’ on a move to ‘elp me do more t’an just possess people. I didn’t like t’e way t’ey looked at me afterwards even if it was for t’e tournament it felt…wrong some’ow. So I worked on findin’ a way to use my Astral powers differently, by concentratin’ t’em and blastin’ it out into a sort of beam. Not’in’ too fancy…” Dorian said a bit meekly as Danni portrayed his powers in such a vulgar way as he always did. He hadn’t expected for Percy to have any personal revelations about the news he was giving out, especially not the fact that he was somehow past Nemo and that Dorian was the weirdly names boyfriend who ended up killing himself. Percy had began to faint, and before Dorian could react, Sabine had washed them over with a memory. He’d already removed his sword as his way of letting her know he was fine with the vision, but hadn’t anticipated Percy fainting like that. When he came back to, Percy was on the ground and Leah had rushed beside him. There was so much information to take in, between the prophecy, the cards, Glimpse, Nemo, everything, and whats more…he was going to kill himself.

Dorian’s mind wracked itself with the whys and hows. Questioning the motives of a future him for answer’s he couldn’t possibly know because the events themselves hadn’t even happened yet. But one thing kept on ringing clear in his mind, one thought that would come back over and over and over again, and as he looked at that Shadow Army Chase had summoned, and he felt that pit of anger and hatred again towards him, he knew this had to be the reason why. Dorian, somewhere down the line, must have failed to be a Hero. Failed to do the one thing he has always set out to do, and in that great failure, whomever he failed to rescue…the karmic scales must’ve been too great to count. A failure so catastrophic that the only achievable answer to fix them was to remove himself from the equation. But when, why, and how he failed was never mentioned, and it was something he now desperately needed to ask Nemo about. He had to know how to fix his future mistakes, how to become the Hero he knows he can be. Dorian fell to his knees next to Percy, a tear dropping down onto his boyfriends cheek. ”Sorry Perce…I’ll try to do better, to be better. Startin’ here wit’ savin Poissan-pas.”

Dorian wiped his tears, looking over at Vicky as she tried to get more answers and help figure out what they could possibly even do. ”It’s not so much a ‘andbook so much as a diary containin’ everyt’in’ ‘e knows on t’em from ‘is time workin’ t’ere. Also…Perce can’t read t’is writin’ I don’t t’ink. It isn’t so much a language to read so much as…a skill? It’s ‘ard to describe ‘ow to do it, but I ain’t even sure you’d be able to unless your purposely made yourself faulty in order to do it. But if you ‘ave a last resort person we could use I’m all ears, after we see if t’ere is no ot’er way for us to get t’ere on our own merit. and I’m fine…for now I t’ink, but t’anks for askin’. I’m more concerned about… Dorian glanced over towards the Shadowy Knights that stood by Chase, the ones who bore and eerie similarity to the ones in the vision they all just shared.

Danni’s ramblings were beginning to become a common delight for Chase. Not that he could actually understand everything that Danni was saying, or even follow half of the strands of thoughts that came out of him before being promptly abandoned and tossed aside for potential later use. He had heard Danni talking about some way to make traveling food, given they were going to an undisclosed land with unknown amounts of potential to eat, it would probably serve them best to try and make some simpler dishes that would ration out for longer than to make some complex meal that wouldn’t go past a day. He figured that perhaps some Historical Pocket Soup would work well here. Danni could season and spice it as much as he wanted and they could ensure some Vitamin C was added in to help prevent any unwanted illnesses.

Something April said had struck a chord with Chase. If heroism isn’t enough, then balancing the karmic scales ought to be. What would that look like for him? For everything he had done, how much would he need to do or endure before his scales became balanced? Chase wasn’t entirely certain, but as Sabine came in with a prophecy, it began to feel unbearably clear. She’d been in his mind before, offering comfort when others wouldn’t, and so he didn’t deny her the need to access it again for the sake of helping another. But as the visions pressed on, and he saw the army of shadows marching forth at a floating palace, as he saw the way others looked at him once they’d all snapped back out of the vision, as he saw the tell tale signs of Heroes staring down a Villain, he knew his scales were a sisyphean task. He would climb up high enough for others to trust him or begin to trust him only for the floor to fall from beneath his feet and have him start again. Chase’s mind went back to a memory, to a day in therapy as he had begun to start the process of working through everything that had happened to him and everything he had done.
”...Chase?”

“I’m fine. Yeah, aside from the not sleeping, the jumpiness, the constant overwhelming, crushing fear that something terrible’s about to happen.”

“It’s called hyper vigilance. The persistent feeling of being under threat.

”But it’s not just a feeling though. It’s, it’s like it’s a panic attack, like I can’t breathe.”

“Like your drowning?”

”Yeah…”

“If you’re drowning, and you’re trying to keep your mouth closed until that very last moment, what if you choose to not open your mouth? Don’t let the water in.”

Chase scoffed. ”You do it anyway, it’s an involuntary reflex.”

“But if you hold off until then, you have more time right? More time to fight to the surface, more time to be rescued.”

”Maybe…but you forget its more time to be in agonizing pain. Did you forget the part where your body feels like its going to explode?”

“If it’s about survival, isn’t a little agony worth it?”

”But what if it gets worse? What it’s just agony now but worse later on? What if…I can’t be rescued?”

The Giant’s gaze didn’t escape him, but her willingness to not say anything outright was more than appreciated, and she reminded him of what he was about to say before he was painted as yet another villain. ”Pocket Soup. You two should prepare some pocket soup. It’s what they used back in the day when traveling long distances on ships. You create a broth with a lot of collagen in it and let it set and it becomes like jello. Cube it, store it, then when you want to make a soup we just need hot water and that cube and the broth is all there. I’m…I think I need to take a walk…I dunno.” Chase clasped his hand onto Ben’s shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze as he tried to force out a smile for his boyfriend, but it didn’t quite reach his eyes. Darkness filled them, a wash of sadness lurking behind his sight as he began to come to terms that he would never be good enough.

Franklin set his leather bag down onto a nearby table, opening up the clasp in order to remove the head from its contents. He took it over towards a separate metal table, wheeled it over towards the slab in the center, and began to gather instruments in order to start his investigation. “Actually it would make things significantly harder if I had everyone in here trying to work on the body. Too many hands introduce too many variables that could skew the results. For now -” Franklin watched as Finley began to ingest some of the blood left behind by the remains. That was exactly what he was referring to, though he did appreciate their help in the matters and they got more information for where to begin a new search. No attacker was a shame, but Franklin still had his own ways to get answers…once everyone was gone that is. He doubted Connie would approve of his measures, and didn’t care to have others view the skills he had so carefully crafted over the years. “Perhaps then some should investigate that Hall. Search for signs of a struggle, claw marks, blood, anything else that could help us move closer to some answers about this attack.” There was an unspoken ‘and out of my lab’ as he continued his work, grabbing a magnifying glass to look further into the physical matter.

Barty followed in after the party of wayward witches, playing with the beetle between his fingers and he turned it this way or that. He sent a message off towards his twin I hope you’re end is much more fruitful than mine. It appears our dear Pedrito was in fact the victim, the strange witch with a multitude of familiars that appeared to be made of many parts, suddenly found dismembered and beheaded without an ilm of magic within him. They refuse my aid and are attempting to figure it out on their own, and I grow bored and impatient as I begin to worry about the old magic flowing in moment before these discoveries are made. He looked around the lab, staring back towards all the others within the room before he straightened his posture. ”I’m clearly not needed here, and I don’t mean to stand around either. If you find anything of note, due let me know, otherwise I shall be working on my Covens Mystery, Connie I would appreciate it if you would do the same. You have found your missing friend, there is no helping him but there is helping us.”

Franklin looked up from what he was doing, looking over at Rohan as he asked him if there was anything that he could do to help. “Not exactly no. If you wished to you could aid me with what we discussed beforehand and I can work on both at the same time. Each of which will take time, but mostly what I need is just time and quiet to work things out. You guys don’t need to stick around it’s just going to be gruesome and boring.” He quickly set back into his work, finding not much more than what he’d seen before. He was dismembered, that much was obvious. Franklin wasn’t one to due an autopsy to discover a cause of death, he simply knew his way around bodies to make his own. But maybe with a little magic later…he’d get answers one way or another.

Barty set out from the laboratory, making his way down the halls he’d seen for so many years, as he began to think on his puzzle at hand. He made sure to keep his wits about him however. A witch who let their defenses drop was one who would soon be found dead, and he’d be damned if he was about to become another statistic. He quietly hurried off towards his dorm, entering the room before sitting down upon his bed. He needed Connie to get their head in their game, he needed her powers in order to potentially work on his thoughts about their mystery, but if she was distracted as she did it she could ruin it all. It was incredibly frustrating to have to rely on another's magic, they were seldom reliable and more times than not unworthy of it.

Dorians shoulders began to lose some of the tension that was stored in him as his siblings forgave him for his outbursts and everyone immediately jumped in to helping save Sir Nemo. Why hadnt he told them before? What was he so afraid of? Everyone was here and willing to aid, and he felt a tear tug at the corner of his eye as he hugged everyone back. ”I sure wish Beanie was ‘ere…but I t’ink I know t'e charges V. Over break I spent a day readin’ and decipherin’ a book Nemo gave me. Turns out t'ere was a lot we didn't know about ‘im. T'e first few chapters are on t'e TVA, its structure ‘ow it works, all of it. Apparently ‘e used to work for t'em but formally asked to retire and move into t'is timeline. At first I wasn't sure why t'is one until I kept readin’.

T’ere was a whole letter, an apology written to ‘is late boyfriend, who mind you must be from t'is ot'er world t'at ‘is ‘usband is from because ‘is name was Gift and ‘ow weird of a name is t'at? Anyways, it goes on to say t'at ‘e would do whatever ‘e could to save ‘im and stop ‘im from commitin’ suicide. T'at's when t'e journal gets a bit…weirder. It's plans and formulas about time travel and makin’ changes to time wit'out creatin' new realities or splinter ones so t'at t'e TVA cant delete t'em. From t'at I think ‘e chose t'is timeline because it must be somewhere he cant start t'e change for ‘is plans. Chase looked over towards where Ben had been. Spotting Danni handing him an entire dragon, and giving him enough of a distraction that he was certain Ben's neurons weren't able to fire. That's what it felt like sometimes when talking to Danni, as if you just had to shut your brain off to let the sheer amount of words flow through you and vibe instead of attempting to search for any deeper meaning. The blonde gravity bender seemed to have an idea or two about what was happening all around. Unfortunately for them, that didn't matter if this Glimpse didn't feel comfortable enough to help yet, and he was certain that if Andy was correct and everyone rushed back in to ask their questions, then surely it would become a lost cause.

”Let me get this straight, you punched me for absolutely no reason, and now you're asking me for a favour?” Chase raised his eyebrow at Andy, letting out a sigh before he felt the weight in his hands get lighter as Glimpse took the offered drink. Crazy, you'd think to check for poison first in a strange new world. Either way she seemed pleased with the way Ben had made the tea. ”Alright, well since I'm your favorite person I guess I can help you two out.” He smiled, kicking at the dirt in a playful bashful manner. Chase turned around to face the others, holding his hands out as he closed his eyes and felt for the shadows. From Vicky, Andy, Glimpse, Leah, Danni, April, Millie, himself, and Amelie, sprung copies of themselves. Dark silhouettes who's only difference was that they were all in knights armor, even Amelie. Chase stepped through the wall of knights that now separated the two parties so that Andy and Glimpse could talk alone. ”Listen up, those two want a bit of privacy so let's give it to them before we start asking for questions or favors of the old newcomer. Hey Danni-Boy, how've you been? Sorry we kept missin you today.

Demetri crossed his arms, nodded his nose towards Nancy. ”Sorry babe, you heard the lady. I don't move till you take a breath and calm down. She's a strong girl, one that can speak for herself too. I'm not doing this to be difficult, but we can't spend all summer like this. Also, you're crazy if you think im being stuck with Dis-Aster as my buddy. No thank you. I say we rotate them, see how long the two Heteros can be apart without shoving their tongues down each others throats.”

Demi's expression softened. Taking a step closer towards Zeke as he placed his hand onto his shoulder calmly. ”I get it, you're worried and scared. Shit, I was fucking scared back there, but that's no reason to loose our cool. We set up systems, fail safes, ways to work around it. The Walkies are a huge help once they come in. Ham is another, and buddies means we have eyes and ears on everyone at all times. We'll be fine, soooo long as the water in the lake never bubbles that is.”

Sam wasn't entirely certain how well telling Lena the truth of the matter was going to be, but to his surprise it worked out very well. Turns out she alone hired the would-be maids in an effort to remove that asshole from the will. But that placed another question into the back of his mind, what more would she be doing to rid someone of their position within that will. Would she murder? Blackmail? The second of which seemed more up her alley. Sam stood quiet as the other two talked, noting the pride in Lenas voice at the revelation.

”I'm sure she found out the same way we were about to. She seems pretty tech savy and, correct me if im wrong, knew the sleezeball was up to something shady and in searching for it found the perfect opportunity. Though Rhi has the right of it, what makes you think he murdered someone back then? Whats more if he did do it then chances are he'd do it again, maybe even to take someone else out of a will.” If he knew about Renee, about her connection to the family, that's reason enough to kill her, even more so, if the grandfather died the same way…Sam desperately wanted to ask Lena about the relationship between those two now.

Demetri was certainly going to make sure that the walkie talkies were added to the list of items that they procured. Especially after what had just happened. The most horrifying thing about it wasn’t the spasming, or the way that his name was being repeated over and over and over again in a way that would haunt him for a long portion of his life, but it was the way that he wasn’t able to get any help until it would’ve been too late. The walkies at least would have afforded them the room to get someone to get to the HAM and call for help regardless of where they were, because he couldn’t call for help and watch Nancy at the same time, and it seemed that carrying her across the camp as she spasmed wasn’t exactly a play in the game. Two more joined their merry group to round out the numbers and make sure that this three ring circus had a full audience. Great. He could appreciate the way in which Emily was at least trying to break the tension by making a small joke, even if it felt a bit in poor taste given what could’ve happened to Nancy. ”I vote we sacrifice Aster first. Everyone knows the gods love a good Virgin sacrifice.” He chimed in as his hand was grabbed and tugged away from the main group of people.

It was now only Demi, Zeke, and Nancy, all together again as they made their way to…actually where the fuck were they going to? And why was Zeke speaking in Tacos. At Nancy’s protest, Demi let go of Zeke’s hand and placed both of his in a large T shape as he stopped dead in his tracks. ”Woah Z, chill. Let’s take a bit of a pause here before we start speaking in tongues ok? You certainly can’t be attached to Nancy’s hip for the rest of Camp, let alone the rest of your life. We should implement a buddy system however. No one goes off alone anymore, everyone stays in pairs of two and with the Walkies we can not only communicate if something like this happens again, but we can talk the person through it while some of us make it to the scene and others make it to the HAM. You can’t just…suffocate Nancy like that…at least…that’s the uh…vibe I’m gettin from her stare…right Nance?”

Barty had half a mind to enchant one of the Magpies that were tormenting Rohan and make it more useful, sending it to give word to someone about the passing of the student. Then again, if rumors were already spreading amongst the students about this find, then chances were the teachers already knew. Either they didn’t care, or they were holed up somewhere discussing the best course of action. Not as if they could revive the boy on a whim. There was always Death to contend with in those matters, and Death seldomly obliged. Beyond all that, Barty didn’t want to mess with something that was touched by Old Magic. That would likely invite the world to see him more so than it already did, and with eyes came Hunters, and with Hunters came sacrifice. ”Don’t bother sending word. If the students are already gossiping about it idly enough for us to hear, then you can bet those in charge have already been told several times over and are looking for a solution to this mess. If Rohan is right, and something did slip in then they needs find the weakness in the schools defenses before attending to a body, or lack there of. The priority in the safety of those that remains is more important that the ones who have already fallen.”

Franklin cut in, which was a dangerous thing to do when one of the twins were talking, especially Barty. But they were right, they needed to relocate the head before others came looking for it or worse, a professor. “If what Dysphoria says is true, then it seems that I do have the rest of Pedrito back in my lab. It seems right at least, but only way to double check their scent is to relocate ourselves.” He pulled up his leather Doctors bag that held a variety of equipment within it. All neatly placed in their own boxes or pockets to make it easier to find them. Within the bag he pulled out a plastic shopping bag with a yellow smiley face on it that said ‘Thank You’. He went to grab the head when Annika began inspecting it closer, finding more items lodged within his mouth. Surprisingly enough, Barty reached in to snag one of the beetles right out of the mouth to inspect it himself. Frankie grabbed the head by his hair and placed it within the plastic bag and then further into his leather one to keep it secure and to stop it from bleeding within the interior.

The strange cigarette still burned between his fingers, and when Barty went to take another drag as he eyed the odd find, he felt the magic wane away. He sighed, a pillar of smoke billowing out along with his frustration at the matter. ”There’s a faint trace of magic within these beetles. Not enough for me to get any real information off of them, but they seemed to work in a similar way to how familiars do. Beyond that I do not know. Sometimes magic can linger for eons, other times it wanes away in seconds. All is up to the caster and their strength within the spellwork, this clearly was weak to have such little trace in such a short amount of time. But we can study and inspect as much as we wish back at this lab of yours. Perhaps more of his magic was swallows down and now lays within the intestines instead.”

“R-right…Let’s make our way back before we get caught down here. Especially if whatever did this to him is still lurking within these halls.”
