The Blacksmiths' Chronicles: Chapter 6; Travel and Confrontation (Supposedly)

4.8 years PA (Post Arrival)

A ship arrived recently, it contained a letter, requesting that I move to Sardenia for 5 years to teach my skills. I have decided to accept the request, and go to Sardenia, the people here are concerned for my safety, especially during the journey. However their nerves have been eased when a compromise was reached, because initially they refused to let me go. The compromise was that I and my new family, would travel on our ship, The Nimitz. The name of the ship serving a purpose, besides the fact that it is the name of a character in a book Olliver likes, it should also be a giveaway that he is not from this time, an oblique reference to the 'USS Nimitz'. He felt that he didn't have much of a choice to go, he felt a responsibility, that if others were time-shifted, he had to meet up with them.

In the past 21 and a 1/2 months though several important things had happened, Olliver had gotten married to Almeda, and it was a joyous union, they had had a child already, a beautiful young girl named Albareth. She was a year old already, and was rapidly learning to crawl. Additionally in the wider scope, after the ship started coming back with ill after long voyages, Olliver immediately stopped the lesson on some of the more advanced weapon crafting techniques and shifted to teaching his apprentices to learning to make steel barrels . They were confused and disappointed at first, but when they learned that storing the water and such in the metal barrels would stop the water going bad, which was the cause of the illness on the ships, they went to the work and learning with joyful hearts.

The man who arrived with the letter to their land, was surprised when Olliver asked him for a map, and were going to take their personal boat their, instead of one of the fast public boats that Crete had been building. For he knew not that Olliver had drawn the plans for the boats himself. When Olliver showed him the clipper that Olliver had had the people start building after the galleys were completed, the man was in awe. Olliver explained that the ship was completed ahead of schedule due to the fact that many people had come to help build it on their time off as a way to thank him. "This ship has a more limited cargo capacity than the galleys that we normally use, but it makes up for that in pure speed." Soon after the arrival of the messenger, everything was packed and they headed off to go meet with the person who had sent the letter

Oliver decides that silence is prudent, and also doesn't see the need to talk instead he thinks about possible locations for both offense and defense for Mr.Delgato, it all depends on the specifics of the stadium, but there are some definite possibilities, an easy one is the on ramp/the stairway into the stadium, someone fires, then turns and runs. Olliver decides that it is fine if he bends Mr.Delgato's rules a little bit, as no-one besides those in the car will see. So he puts his legs through the shadow on the floor of the car, allowing them to stretch out, and not get cramped, as they make their way to the stadium
ou and the other players are lords of small semi-feudal kingdoms, that are outside a medium size empire. The Emperor of said empire informed you that dragons were gathering in the Blachrion Mountains, specifically near the Holden pass. The holden pass is the only way through the mountains to the more wild part of the continent, which is mostly un-populated. You were going up to the nearby caves when you hear a song.
youtu.be/AvG2NMbA5z4?t=21 (it starts partway through the song intentionally)
and you decide to join the dragons cause. Now you must convince the dragons of your sincerity, and then prepare your land, for the coming war.
The empire and where you are is the southeastern part of the continent, and the mountain range seals off everything to the north and west. Beyond that is the dragons territory, not much is known about the land beyond, the official line is that it used to be a thriving kingdom a few thousand years ago before the dragons killed everyone and only a few made it out through the Holden pass. The Empire wants the land beyond the mountains.

Before the empire rose, before civilization took hold of the land, dragons were free and lived without a care.

But then humans being dickheads themselves, they began enslaving/killing dragons, burning their nests, and eradicating their younglings (breaking eggs/infanticide)

The dragons, fed up with the humans, are now waging war against them, led by a powerful dragon warlord (think Alduin or Parthurnaax from Skyrim).

Naturally, the emperor--and the empire as a whole--fabricates lies that the dragons are the aggressors. Possibly, they paint them as nothing but bloodthirsty demons, intent on devouring every living soul and spreading destruction and chaos.

We, the player characters, are vassal lords of the empire. Though we have been loyal for centuries (or however long this empire existed), what we discover in the Blachorian Mountains, and hear from the dragon warlord himself, causes us to become sympathetic. Thus, we--and the small states we rule over--defect from the empire and join the dragons.

(thanks to @Flightless_Soul for helping me put the last part well)

That was during what the empire calls 'The Expansion Crusade'

That was 1000 years ago, now the empire is preparing to expand again.

And the dragons, fed up with the humans, are now waging war against them, led by a powerful dragon warlord (think Alduin or Parthurnaax from Skyrim).
