I don't really fish a whole lot in the pokemon games.

i only ever wasted time fishing back when i was playing emerald and i wanted to open the regi caves. I needed a wailord in my party but didn't want to go through the hasle of lvling a wailmer to lvl 40 for it to evolve. So, I went to Route 129, whipped out my Super Rod and fished for about an hour before I found one.

I think I may actually have seen a level 99 Magikarp once. But it may have been a glitch. It was in Platinum?

Ding Ding. Magikarp is tied with Gyarados and Regigigas for being the lowest level Pokémon encountered in the wild, as well as also tied with Gyarados for the highest level Pokémon encountered in the wild. In Platinum, Magikarp can be found at levels ranging from level 1 to 100 in the Resort Area, and in Black 2 and White 2, it can be found at the same levels in the Nature Preserve; both require a Super Rod.
