Stop being passive aggressive. Just be aggressive.

It is certainly not 'optimal', but it *is* doable, depending on what you want to do with it. You could go swords or valor bard and play them more like a warrior with some magical ability

@OppositionJWonderful post! <3 your description of Tatiana walking through the city. Really made it feel alive yet forlorn and cold.

Also, that line about Galahad being "a prince or something" really got me. Almost woke up my boyfriend laughing :p

Oh and interesting development with her father. If only Astraea had been around...

Decided to take the whole prince thing and roll with it. Not exactly a prince, but son of a prominent general in a civilization that's all about its warriors is a pretty close comparison.
Sapharan, High City, Capital of Lanostre

Galahad stood at the edge of the bridge, waiting for the others to catch up. At the precipice, a hair's breadth from the empty sky that fell inbetween the two mountains. His brows were furrowed slightly as the cold breeze pulled at his golden hair and chapped his lips. He hadn't been home in over a decade, but this wasn't quite what he expected. He couldn't quite place a finger on why that was. The city felt quiet, peaceful, even the Varyan soldiers marching through the streets seemed quiet. The only noises Galahad heard was the howl of wind moving through the valley, and the sound of the girls' boots clattering off the stonework bridge. The city of warriors was peaceful.

Galahad had stood at this very spot before, the day before he left for the Red Seminary, taking in the city one last time. He remembered the clockwork ethermoths swirling around his face. Their light illuminated grime covered blacksmiths at their etherforges hammers slamming against steel long into the night, warriors proud and tall in their glistening armor sharing boisterous stories about their exploits- exploits that Galahad had dreamed of completing one day. The city was nothing like he remembered. The etherforges were silent, and the warriors whom Galahad could now best with little more than a flick of his wrist were nowhere to be found. Even the Ethermoths seemed to lack their lustre.

Galahad's fist clenched. His city wasn't his city anymore, and it upset him. Much like his childhood, the city felt lost to him. Uncharacteristic rage took him. Part of Galahad wanted to lash out at anything and everything around him, to cast sigils of destruction and to tear asunder stone with his mind. Will his city to come back to life and return to how it used to be. But the footsteps of his companions catching up to him reeled him back. He breathed out deeply and turned as they passed him, effortlessly falling in step with the two female Inquisitors.

Tatiana asked him about his family as they walked. He felt her eyes turn to him every so often, but he couldn't meet her gaze. While she wasn't an empath like Astraea, Tatiana could always tell when Galahad was troubled. Something about the way his eyes hardened giving it away she had once said. "I couldn't know for sure." Galahad replied with a shrug. "I had sent a letter giving word to my family before we left for Sapharan, so I wouldn't have been able to receive a reply. I don't imagine my father is home, he left with the First Armada."

Galahad didn't respond as Tatiana joked about him being a prince, rolling his eyes in exasperation. Their conversation continued aimlessly until they reached a crossroads of sort. Tatiana bid him farewell with a smile and scurried off down the street, leaving Galahad alone with his thoughts. It felt strange to him, though he didn't know why. Galahad was used to being alone, going off on his own to concentrate, research spells, or further his ether conditioning. Being alone was something he was used to- but this feeling, feeling truly alone- was an odd, cold feeling indeed. No Ragnar to compete with, no Tatiana to calm them down when their arguments got heated, nothing. Just the cold empty city around him.

Still watching Tatiana as she scampered off, Galahad realized he hadn't moved from that spot in a few minutes, and that Tatiana was long gone from his field of view. Pulling his cloak closer around his body, Galahad reluctantly made his way towards his own home, stopping a few times along the way to reorient himself and remember old landmarks.

The Quaid Manor was a large home of classic Lanostran architecture, built from slabs of white marble and gilded with the Quaid family crest. For all of its grandeur, for all of Galahad's growth since he left, the home felt as cold and imposing as it always did as Galahad made his way up the steps of the building. At the front door, a servant silently welcomed him, holding the door open for him as he entered. The interior of the manor was just as opulent as the outside. Fine carpeting stretched across the cold marble floor, its high walls and ceilings adorned with gold and jewel encrusted weapons and artwork. The ceiling itself was a tapestry of the Quaid family line, and its accomplishments, starting generations back, endless depictions of gallant Quaid men bearing pristine white plate, until finally reaching the end- a blonde figure covered in a black robe.

Galahad made his way to his parent's chambers, where the dim glow of the hearth warmed the room with its orange glow. His mother was waiting for him as he entered. An aging, but elegant woman dressed in fine cloths and silks. She regarded him with a regal, formal nod. "Galahad." she said plainly, her greeting distant and formal, almost cold.

Galahad dipped his head forward in a bow. "Mother." He replied cordially.

"You've returned."

"I have."

"Will you be staying long?"

"No."

"You will be joining us for dinner?"

"Of course."

Dinner was a grand, if quiet affair. The massive dining table had been set for a mere two, Galahad and his mother. Servants passed trays of delectable food between the mother and son, while a minstrel quietly played a lute in the corner. The Quaids ate in silence, almost as though the other wasn't there. Not even the servants spoke, wordlessly offering food to their silent masters as the sound of silverware clinking against china accented the soft minstrel.

As the dinner ended, the Lady Quaid motioned for a servant to attend to her. She whispered something into his ear and the servant nodded, walking off with some measure of urgency. Moments later he returned with a bundle of deep red silks. Gingerly, the servant offered the bundle to Galahad. Glancing to his mother for the first time in hours, Galahad reached out and unfurled the silk that covered the contents of the servant's offering. Dark leather inlayed with subtle veins of gold concealed the blade of a long, red and gold hilted saber. For Lanostrans, the truest work of art was a finely crafted weapon- and this was arguably among the finest.

Taking the weapon in his hands, Galahad drew the weapon partially out of its scabbard, revealing the gun mechanism attached to the sword and the blade itself, a shimmering mithril-steel so brilliant that Galahad would've suspected it to be actual silver if it weren't a Lanostran weapon.

"Your Father had that sword commissioned when you went off to the Red Seminary." His mother said, speaking to him for the first time since dinner had started. "He believes it will serve you well, in your days to come."

"I am grateful." Galahad replied as he resheathed the blade. "It is a shame he is not home for me to thank him personally."

"It is."

Returning to his comrades, Galahad felt acutely aware of the weight that hung to his hip as he waited for them to show up. They were to meet back in Bridgetown. Galahad was the first one back. Again he stood at the edge of the skybridge, his hand gingerly thumbing at the grip of his new blade. He made no real movement as Astraea returned, only turning to look when Tatiana returned to complete their group. She bound up as happily as ever, smiling and wide eyed. Something about her softened the chunk of ice that was Galahad's heart. Though he normally found himself jealous of how upbeat she was, something was different about her this time.

Galahad was no empath like Astraea, but he was close enough to Tatiana to know when something was wrong. Her smile was as broad as ever-almost too broad, and her beautiful eyes, while wide and glistening, hid with something more somber behind them. Still, he never deigned to pry into her problems. If she wanted to tell him about it she would. Instead, Galahad waited for her to reach his side before he reached out and placed a hand on her shoulder. He squeezed it knowingly, despite not knowing what troubles she went through. An subtle pang of warmth laced his otherwise even voice.

"Welcome back, Little One."
My own character and MAS have been added to the bottom of the OP for people needing some samples to look at.
Alrighty. Time for some feedback.

Firstly, to everyone. When you're filling out the character sheets, when you put down an image, you can delete the word 'appearance'. Bothers me a bit. Dunno why, call me crazy. Also keep in mind that any and all criticism is entirely professional. That doesn't mean I'm a professional critic, but rather don't take anything I say as a personal insult, I know people can get pretty attached to their work and some people get pretty defensive, but just know that I'm not criticizing your character sheets because I don't like you.

With that out of the way, let us begin with the feedback. Individual feedback will be hidden in your own little hider.

Falling Skies: Wavering Valor

Plot and Premise:

Hello everyone! Welcome to the interest check for "Falling Skies: Wavering Valor"! This particular RP will follows the adventures of a group of men and women from the Empire's 101st Legion. I will be accepting a relatively small number of players- thinking about 4 or 5 not including any co-gms, so this is not first come first served. This is a mecha-suit-like RP, reminiscent of Gundam, Robotech, Front Mission and Super Robot Wars. Unlike typical Gundam series, I aim to make this RP seem more realistic and gritty and have implemented several systems to make these giant robots feel more like advancements of technology rather than than over-the-top, super-plot devices that gundam are.

We the players will play the role of the 12th MAS (Mobile Armor Suit) Team, a squadron from the United Earth Empire's 101st MAS Legion, as they escort Imperial Diplomats during some tense peace talks. Of course, nothing is ever as simple or as clear as it seems. Our story will be gritty and tense as we attempt to prevail over insurmountable odds. Our characters will face daunting challenges, witness and perform acts of valor and cowardice, and their sense morality and willpower will be put to the test. This RP aims to blend the humanity and melodrama of a space opera with the cold and harsh realities of war, and of course with giant robots.

Terminology and Technology:

Mobile Armor Suit Builder:

Tech Room:

Character Sheets:

The following are the Character Skeletons for the the 12 MAS Team. The CS's are a 2 part set. The first part is your character, the pilot. The second part is your MAS, which you can make using the builder above or use one of the UEE MAS's from the Tech Room.

A note on Callsigns: A callsign is a name given to you by the rest of the squadron (whether you want it or not). There are very few people that will be willing to unironically call you "Archangel" or "Kingslayer". Nicknames and Callsigns should be short, sweet, easy to call out, and referencing either tendencies people observe you doing or quick shortening of your names: IE "Brit" because you have a strong english accent, "Twitch" because you tend to look around a lot/rapidly, "Kanga" because your last name is Roo, etc. If you're a brand new pilot, or haven't been around long enough- or notable enough- to have an established callsign, you won't have one- or in the case of the newbie: "Noob", "Rook", "Rookie", "FNG", etc.

Player Roles

I am a personal fan of smaller scale RPs, as such, I will only be accepting 4-5 other players to join me in this adventure. While you are free to make your character however you like, acceptance to this RP will be judged by me, and is not on a first come, first served basis. While not necessary, there are several roles I would like to see filled:
  • The Captain/Naval Officer - This player will be unique in that instead of flying a MAS with the rest of the team, s/he will command the Carrier or Capital Ship that houses the MAS Team. This player has the option of creating their own Capital Ship and escorts, or using the ones that I will provide. This player will likely (but not necessarily) serve as my Co-GM and will be privy to information and plot details before the other players. This player should be capable of interacting on their own or with relatively few other players effectively, and may be collabing with me fairly often.
  • The FNG (The Fucking New Guy) - This player should be among the youngest members of the team, as well as the least experienced. S/He has many roles, such as serving as the pseudo focus of the RP as the 'impressionable youngster', as well as likely having a brighter, likely more positive outlook than the rest of the members that make up the rest of the team. S/He also serves as a convenient reason for characters/npcs to explain and describe the lore that, while known to the characters in the world, is otherwise new or unknown to the players themselves. S/He will either be broken down mentally and physically and reforged into a newer, stronger person through the fires of war, or serve as a beacon of hope for the rest of the team. - The new guy will also begin their career piloting a MAS of my choosing, though he will get first dibs to receive an upgraded unit.
  • The Scarred Veteran - in contrast to the New Guy, the veteran will be among the oldest- if not the oldest member of the squadron. He/she will likely be the most jaded and cynical member of the team, and will likely be the reliable backbone of the team. The veteran will also be given some special responsibilities later down the line, and will also be privy to some information before the rest of the group.

Non important roles, but potential ideas include: "The Hotshot/Ace", the techy guy, the one whose just sort of there, etc.

Who's game?

I reserve an entire 8gb flash drive for my RP purposes. Currently have 4gb on the drive remaining. Combination of text info and unfinished premises, and a vault of reference images. - Also back up your data every so often, so I have a copy of all of this on my hard drive as well.
@Lovejoy I like Galahad's vision a lot. Menacing, ominous. Makes it seem like he's his own ultimate enemy.
I-XVII (pronounced as "One-Seventeen")

The Aspect of Lord Varya that appeared to Warband Phoenix during Culmination. The visions it showed each member of the warband left a mark on them in different ways. Some were perplexed by what I-XVII showed them, others were left horrified, while others were left thinking to themselves in silence. Despite each inquisitor having their own unique experience with I-XVII, each somehow knew its name upon waking, and felt its touch upon their souls.

Like other Divine Aspects, I-XVII has no default appearance, but is perceived differently depending on the individual who sees it.

***

I'll get to describing Hassan, Stina and Ilya's visions tomorrow, along with info on I-XIX (Leviathan's guardian aspect), and what it showed the inquisitors from that group. I'll also have that that stuff I promised you today @shylarah. I would've finished it tonight but it's late and I have work tomorrow!

don forget Galahad? :D

@shylarah
Ziotea: Galahad regards Ziotea with some amount of aloofness. They're not particularly close, nor do they particularly detest one another. As far as either of them are concerned, the other is just, there. She's standoffish and cynical, much like Galahad, and while he doesn't mind, or even occasionally appreciates these traits, it doesn't really do much to lead to interaction between the two of them. He recalls her fiery temperament and her relatively confrontational manner about receiving criticism, but doesn't necessarily hold it against her. His telekinetic spells- IE Thunderclap and TK projectile are most likely revised, refined and safer versions of her concussive attacks. Tactically, he views Ziotea as a wildcard, potentially dangerous to the group, but capable of wreaking major destruction- and most importantly nullifying other mages on the battlefield.

Kast's droid managed to land the freighter in the wide hangars of the Paradise with little difficulty. A close call with a particularly erratic flying cargo freighter had ended in some choice words being exchanged, but otherwise, the short trip from the surface of Ilos to the orbiting Paradise was uneventful. Throughout the entire trip, Kast had kept his eye on the Jedi. He'd left the man alone to do his meditating, but didn't trust the Jedi enough to leave him alone on his ship- especially with Koren's daughter so close by as well. He doubted the Jedi would try to hurt the girl, but the last thing Kast needed so close towards the end of a job was getting the girl's head- or his own cut off by a Jedi and his lightsaber.

"OOM, watch the ship." Kast said as he stood up. "Jedi, lets go."

Tez exhaled as he lifted himself up onto his feet. The meditation provided a nice reset from the events today, but Tez had this feeling that they would not quite add up to the events altogether. He walked down the boarding ramp beside the Mandalorian and the metaphorical Princess of Paradise.

"Please lead the way, bounty hunter. I think you can tell a place like this doesn't really house... my kind of crowd." The Jedi requested in his calm voice.

As they approached the main entrance by the hangar, a trio of droids approached them, a BX Commando droid flanked by a pair of B2 Super battledroids. The BX raised its hand to stop them and began its typical commands to stop and disarm. Kast glanced at the Jedi, and gestured towards one of the B2 Battledroids with his head. Their blaster hand was locked up in safe position, their other holding an open bin for the jedi and bounty hunter to put their belongings in.

"The boss wants you here, but no one brings weapons onto Paradise." Kast said, gesturing to Tez's lightsaber.

Tez studied the three droid security guards. At first, he was taken aback as they approached with guns. The thought that this was instantly a trap intially flashed across his mind until the Commando spoke it's probably usual spiel and Kast explained the situation. Tez took out the lightsaber hilt and looked at it for a few moments. Bad idea for a Jedi to head into a hive of scoundrels and criminals without his lightsaber.

The Jedi obliged with a final sigh, dropping the saber away. [b"I best be getting that back..."[/b] He specified, shooting a look to Kast to ensure this happened. While he did feel uneasy about not being armed, he reminded himself that he was well trained to fight without it by his old master, and that was without the Force being added to the equation.

Kast specifically waited for the superbattle droid with Tez's lightsaber to walk away before he started disarming himself. 2 blaster pistols, one rifle, half a dozen blades, wrist gauntlets, and a belt of detonators later the two were sitting on a turbolift heading to the upper levels of Paradise, Koren's daughter and her Magnaguards in tow. The daughter of the Golden exchange led them to a suite on the upper floors, where she gestured the two to enter.

"My father will be with us soon." Loretta explained, as the group entered the suite. It was a relatively large room, with high quality amenities, as expected of a upper level suite. The bed was large and cushy, and it featured a desk made of fine wood. A half kitchen and minibar was on the opposite side of the room next to a washroom, and the entire room was lit by a single lamp, bathing them in a warm, orange light.

"Now all's left to do is to wait for the old man and get paid." Kast muttered aloud, mostly to himself.

Tez looked around the room, seeing all of the first class features to the room. It wasn't very often he was surrounded by so many facilities. He instantly went to the washroom and used the sink, using the cool, flowing water from the tap to clean himself up a little, washing away the dirt that was on his face. He came back and saw Kast and his female accomplice. Tez wasn't sure about Koren's inner fold of Paradise but it was safe to assume she was one of them. He walked over on the bed and pressed into it. The way it squished down, he couldn't help but lay on it. This level of comfort hadn't been experienced for years as he sunk into the bed. He could see how Paradise got it's name.
