It is certainly not 'optimal', but it *is* doable, depending on what you want to do with it. You could go swords or valor bard and play them more like a warrior with some magical ability

Ingram’s eyes shot to his monitors as the ping from Pip’s full echo suite filled them. Good news: Pips and Grizz were still alive, and they had found Sunray. Why and how Sunray made her way into a mech was a question that could be answered later. Bad news: Sunray and the Recovery team had been engaged by Coalition forces, and if the edges of Pip’s echo were to be believed, more were on the way. The rest of the Coalition forces in the area would likely be notified shortly, and they’d start closing in. They needed to move fast.

Ingram was about to open his comms to comment such, when his radar pinged. Or more correctly, information from Deadeye’s MAS pinged- they had contact. From his position at the back of the pack, he couldn’t see anything, but just a few hundred meters ahead of the 7th was a patrol of a few Fenrir IIs, backs turned- making their way towards the recovery team. Distance growing as the enemy mechs began sprinting towards the recovery team.

"Contact. Three Foxtrot twos, three hundred metres." Aleks pinged each target in succession as he came to a stop, raising his rifle. "The one on the left is mine. Lucky, Apples, new girl, take the centre target. Eyes, Boss, focus right hand target. Boss, once all three are KIA, take new girl and fly below the canopy straight to Pips and Grizz."

Aleks flicked on the ignition for his own flight engines and prepared to leap straight up a tree, his targeting computer predicting the sight lines from that vantage point and preparing firing solutions for the Longbow already.

"Make ready to fire on my mark."

His engines spooled up.

"Three, two-" there was a roar as the Yeoman-2 shot into the air, and Aleks latched on to a fork in the megatree's trunk, levelling his weapon against his first firing solution and charging the rail system.

"- one, mark!"

One of the Fenrirs might have noticed something was up, as one turned its head over the shoulder at the last second. Of course it was a second too late, as a savonite spear pierced through its upper back and through to its chest, pinning it to the jungle floor. Electronic signals from the Fenrir shut off immediately and the mech went limp as the spike punched clean through the cockpit and through its generator. The other two didn’t have time to get so much of a peep out in surprise before a flurry of autocannon, laser, and missilefire engulfed them in much more explosive balls of fire.

“On the move, Rookie lets go!” Ingram called curtly into his mic as the boosters on the Sparrowhawk flared to life. The Sparrowhawk leaped into the air, assisted by its powerful boosters, and shot forward, deeper into the treeline, his smart-AI tracing a trail through the trees for him to follow in real time. Trees whizzed by as the large machines shot through the dense foliage, smaller trees bent as the Sparrowhawk’s alloy frame plowed through the brush.

“Roger that!” Clara replied as the Peregrine formed up at a staggered distance from Ingram.

On the ground, the 7th was limited to the speed of their slowest walkers, but up in the air, the Peregrine and Sparrowhawk could close the distance in a fraction of the time. Ingram’s eyes whizzed back and forth between his monitor and the viewscreens as they rapidly closed in on the recovery team’s position.

“Keep an eye out for more- Shit!” Ingram cursed, breaking off at the last moment, as the trees in front of them exploded, Ingram catching the glimpse of a massive riverdrake’s tail as it snapped past them. The Sparrowhawk stalled in the air for a moment as Ingram rapidly scanned his monitors for signals. He barely managed to get his breath before he heard the crashing of trees again, the Sparrowhawk juking to the left as again the massive riverdrake bounded past, clenching jaws snapping at where the Sparrowhawk just was.

It seemed the sound of combat and movement must have disturbed the nest of a nearby pack of riverdrakes. Lizard-like creatures not too dissimilar to monitor lizards- but much larger and more aggressive, these creatures sported lifespans into the centuries, and never stopped growing in size. To make matters worse, they were more or less invisible to heat scans, forcing Ingram to rely on his already spotty radar system.

“Deadeye this is Boss, complications: There’s a large pack of oversized riverdrakes getting involved, I think Pips and Grizz are starting to look like lunch. Better move fast.”

The Sparrowhawk quickly waved the Peregrine forward, and they continued further onward to assist their stranded squadmates.

Even as Abigail and Jakunta cleared out the immediate threat, it was clear that more were on the way. From the far edges of Pip’s full echo suite, before it cut out, Abi could spot at least 2 more patrols of Fenrirs closing in on their position. In the distance, they could already hear the crunch of metal limbs forcing their way through the heavy brush. More immediately however, the princess and the recovery team could also hear a foreboding hiss, as something unseen in the underbrush stalked the three pilots and their mechs.

Beady yellow eyes were the first to be seen, followed by the slinking, lumbering bodies lizards the size of minibuses pushed out of the brush. Flaps on the sides of their heads flared out as the riverdrakes continued hissing, three of them circling around the stranded mechs as they slowly began closer. In the distance, there was more gunfire, as a Coalition patrol must have ran into another pack of their own.

One of the lizards, finally deciding to make the first move lunged forward towards the fallen Kolibri, only for a flurry of explosions to ripple across its back, causing it to hiss and retreat back to the others. Overhead, the Sparrowhawk and Peregrine zoomed by.

“This is Boss, coming around for another pass.” Ingram called into the comms, as the Sparrowhawk spun around, “Start making your way north and link up with the rest of the 7th, we’ll cover you.”

Gabriel Rivera

Name: Gabriel Asher Rivera-Aoshen
Age: 19
Physical Description:
Gabriel is a rather tall young man standing in at six feet flat in height. Gabriel is rather thin, with a wiry and lean build not unlike that of an athlete- or at least one used to running and regular physical exertion. While not the bursting at the seams with brawn, Gabriel is in good fighting shape, and his body is sinewy and lithe. His eyes are a bright, piercing green, and his hair is dyed white, contrasting his mocha skin. Large tattoos stretch across his body, lining his arm, chest, back and neck with a variety of designs, both human and Kanarusian in nature. A variety of scars also dot across various parts of his body, and his right arm has been replaced by a cybernetic replacement, covered with matte black armor plates.

Important items:
  • Earring - A Cross shaped earring made of red jade. Utterly mundane, but a memento of his mother.
  • Omni-tool - A Confederacy built omni-tool. Smart lenses worn on the eyes, and an earpiece allow Gabriel to utilize it hands free.
  • Galactic Credits - 50,000 Galactic Credits. Not his, but an allowance provided by House Aoshen to pay for necessities: food, weapons, armor, repairs, housing and the like. Remaining balance is expected to be returned.
  • Cybernetic Arm - An advanced cybernetic limb built by House Aoshen, many magnitudes stronger and more durable than a standard human arm of comparable size. The wrist and shoulder joints can rotate a full 360 degrees, and the armor plating can open up to reveal built in weapons. Modular, and the hand or entire arm can be removed for easy maintenance.
  • Fiber-Optic Reflexes - A secondary cybernetic nervous system installed parallel to Gabriel's spine, when activated enhances Gabriel's already formidable reaction speed and spatial awareness, allowing him to essentially view his surroundings in slow motion. Automatically activates during moments of extreme duress, and has a rather harsh come-down effects.
  • Second Fang Clothes - Humanoid clothing created by House Aoshen for their small clan of human servants. Nothing groundbreaking, but comfortable, durable, lightweight and utilitarian. The durable weave of these clothes don't make them bulletproof, but provide impact resistance from common hazards like falls and other minor scrapes.

Weapons and Armor:
  • Second Fang Thermal Blade - A military grade combat blade built by House Aoshen. A plasma heated blade provides it with additional cutting power, allowing it to melt though hardened armor with relative ease. A hardened edge allows it to be used without the thermal edge. Well balanced, and light enough to be used in a single hand, but most effective with two.
  • Equalizer Submachinegun - A plasma machine pistol made by House Aoshen for military use. Capable of semiautomatic and fully automatic firing modes. Compact enough to be held and fired in a single hand. Fitted with a laser sight and suppressor.
  • Cybernetic Arm - A combat cybernetic built by House Aoshen, provides enhanced strength and speed, and armor plating allows it to resist small arms fire. Comes with attachment points for a variety of weapons that can be changed out as necessary. These weapons are powered by rechargeable/replaceable energy cells.
    • Kinetic Knuckles - Effectively a set of built in knuckle dusters, these tungsten plated knuckles provide a basic punch with an extra wallop.
    • Drakenbreath - Built into the base of the palm is a plasma powered flamethrower. Capable of reaching ranges up to 20 feet, the plasma cell allows for 20 seconds worth of fire. As a result, Gabriel often utilizes short half second bursts of flame to augment his melee combat.
    • High Tension Cable - Deploying from the bottom of the wrist, Gabriel can fire up to 50 feet of high strength cable, topped by a spiked grappling hook. While capable of causing physical harm, the cable is primarily meant for utility purposes.
    • Thermal Armblade - Deploying from the top of the wrist is a foot long armblade. A plasma heated blade increases its cutting power.
  • Second Fang 'Felwyrm' Combat Armor - Confederacy built combat armor meant for humanoid infiltrators. Worn underneath outer clothing layers, the Felwyrm set features a protective combat vest, hardened facemask, armguards and greaves rated for limited amounts of small arms fire. Thrusters built into the boots provide enhanced speed, jump height and distance, but not flight capabilities. Masking technology built into the back hide the wearer from infrared detection, but doesn't provide visual concealment.
  • Infiltration Kit - A small case containing a variety of gear necessary for infiltration. Inlcudes things like a set of binoculars, magnetic climbing gloves, small knife, flashlight, multitool, lockpicks, electronic lock spoofer, miniature plasma cutting torch, smoke bombs, ball bearings, twine, wire, zip ties, candy and a collapsible crowbar.

Spell List: - Gabriel is currently incapable of using magic, instead relying on a combination of technology and his own personal abilities to keep up.

Character Traits:
  • Second Fang of House Aoshen - A prestigious title given to the certain human servants of House Aoshen. Through rigorous training to impart combat prowess, steel discipline and resourcefulness, the Second Fangs serve as personal bodyguards to the members of House Aoshen. Gabriel specializes in close quarters combat, and is adept in both a melee and point shooting at close ranges.
  • Kinesthetic Adept - Gabriel possesses a sense a spatial awareness, depth awareness and reaction time well above that of an average human.
  • Infiltrator - Quick, deft, and good at getting into places he's not supposed to be, Gabriel is talented scout and saboteur.
  • Strong RBF - Despite his resting scowl, Gabriel is about as well meaning and warm as they come. Somewhat reserved and a bit of a wallflower when dealing with others, Gabriel is rather soft spoken and isn't used to interacting with those outside of House Aoshen. Although quiet, Gabriel is neither meek nor timid, and holds a fierce loyalty to House Aoshen.

Short Bio:

Gabriel was born in the village of Vera, a small, but technologically advanced farming community on the edges of Kanarusii territory. A second generation child born in the village, Gabriel didn't have any direct memory of how Vera came to be, but grew up on stories and tales of the dragonlike Kanarusii and how they rescued the people of Vera from sure destruction. Gabriel's childhood was simple and safe- if a bit boring, and spent most of his younger years running around with other children, and watching the occasional Kanarusii visit their village.

When Gabriel turned 10, he was one of the few children from the village selected to become a Second Fang. The Kanarusii of House Aoshen took Gabriel and a few other children to a world closer to the core of Kanarusii space, where they underwent training for the next several years, with a week every other month provided to return home to rest and visit family. While never the strongest or the fastest among his training group, Gabriel made a name for himself as one of the most resourceful candidates.

When the war with the Ascendancy started, and House Salakar was wiped out, Gabriel was shocked, and amongst one of the first to renounce his humanity and begged for a chance to fight back. However, since he was still young and in training, he was denied as the first Kanarusii war parties set out. Steeling his resolve, Gabriel put his all into training, and quickly caught the eye of several House Aoshen trainers. When a training accident more or less rendered his right arm useless, several members of House Aoshen sponsored his treatment and replaced his arm with an advanced cybernetic as a reward for his dedication to their cause.

The war ended before Gabriel had a chance to fight- just after he completed his training. The horrors of what the Ascendancy had done were appalling, and only served to vindicate his anger. All was not lost however, Gabriel's chance would come as the Lords of Aoshen hand picked him and a select few others to join a certain rebellion. Tasked with protecting the members and interests of House Aoshen, Gabriel left home, ready to prove that the trust given to him was not misplaced.

Purrcival

The morning was busier than usual. The Gathering Hall was a hub of activity- moreso than usual. With Prismata's Comet high in the sky, Astera had been turned into a multi-week festival ground- missions were still ongoing, but for the most part, people were taking it easy and viewing the comet during the day and night. Not for nothing, it was a breathtaking sight to say the least, Purrcival had enjoyed many a night carousing with his fellow felynes, enjoying the merry atmosphere and the lights and colors.

Today was shaking up to be a bit different. The atmosphere was different, there was buzzing about a big mission to investigate a nearby crash site. Probably nothing, but it was a chance for the Research Commission to get information on locations previously undiscovered by the Research Commission. That fact alone had most of Astera interested- not just the hunters, but the Tailraiders as well.

Purrcival and a small group of his fellow Tailraiders were already making their way through the crowded Gathering Hall, the smaller felynes deftly weaving their way inbetween the legs of the human occupants, while the larger Purrcival made a small wake for himself in the crowd. The smallest one was carrying a clipboard with notes, while another two were carrying large packs above their heads.

"Tailraider support is going to be difficult to purrvide for this one," the smaller palico commented idly, her paws scratching something off on the clipboard, "We have no idea about the layout, the possible meownsters, nothing!"

Purrcival let out a low growl, it always felt like the Tailraiders were given the short end of the stick. At least the hunters had the ability to sign up for the missions they wanted to go on- if some hunter and their partners wanted to risk life and paw venturing into unknown lands, that was their purrogative. The Tailraiders didn't have that luxury though, like most of the support staff in the Research Commission, they were meant to make the lives of the hunters easier- even at cost to themselves.

"How are we supposed to respond to SOS flares if we don't know what we're jumping into?" The smaller palico continued, as the group took a seat at a smaller table, closer towards the kitchen. Purrcival nodded as a small group of cooks dropped off palico sized portions of food for them. While not particularly cliquish, the kitchen palicos were always quick to get food out to their fellow felynes, so the Tailraiders never had to wait too long to be fed.

"We should tell the Commission to postpone the mission until we've had a chance to send a scouting party to map the area." the clipboard wielding palico continued between bits of wyvern-sausage and jumbo sized fish.

"This mission is the scouting party," Purrcival reminded her, "Scouting parties always hold the most risk in that regard- that's probably why the reward is so high."

"Mrowr, if the mission is so risky why do we never get hazard pay?" one of the other palicos grumbled. "We're the ones stuck cleaning up the mess if things go wrong."

"Its just business as usual," Purrcival replied, waving a paw dismissively "That's what we signed up for anyway."

Purrcival wiped his mouth with a white paw as he finished his quick and hearty meal. "Anyway, we cant afford to pawddle too long. Get the gear and wingdrakes set, I'm going to go meet with Dr. Paeris"

"Huh? Why are you meeting with the doc?" one of the palicos questioned him, his eyes narrowing suspiciously.

"The good doctor wants me to provide direct suppurrrt for this meowsion" Purrcival replied with a shrug as he got up from the table, stuffing a sausage into his pocket.

"What? How come you get the easy job?" the clipboard wielding palico complained.

"Benefits of being the boss," Purrcival replied with an easy wave as he exited the Gathering Hall. A quick trip to his quarters, to equip his weapons and armor, and Purrcival was on his way to see Dr. Paeris to prepare for the mission briefing.
god. trying to fit in cat puns into Purrcival's speech and thought patterns without utterly butchering it is tougher to do than I thought. Should have something out soon though!
Hey there! Thanks for popping in! Sorry but we are full ^^;
Coolios, I have another RP I need to write first, but then I'll get working on a post!
