Current I think watching fight scenes can help in general terms with writing combat, since it can give you an idea of flow and choreography.

At least if you're writing something you know, with knights.

I mean, depends on what you're writing, and the tone and theme of what you're writing. Trained armored knights were legitimately monstrous on the battlefield, so looking up how they fought helps.

As much as there's a lot of reasons twitter sucks, I genuinely don't want to see it die for the sake of all the artists who now rely on it. Hoping the shithead stops trying to directly administrate.

roleplayerguild.com/posts/5… If anyone's up for fighting some kaiju, why not try out my new RP, Godzilla: YATAGARUSU?

Yeah. If you wanted, you could even have her be able to cast the barriers on the shield, plant it in the ground to defend someone else, and use her other weapons to fight.

I think this will make her quite a bit different from our other "big shield" user.
If you want, have her focus on defensive spells?

We have a couple people with healing abilities already, but since she has a huge, heavy shield, maybe she was taut how to increase its usefulness? Layer barriers on it, knock people over from behind it, that kind of stuff.

Then she could defend people in combat more easily while someone else heals them or something like that.
I do want the spells cut down to just the force one since she doesn't have a strong magical background, but as a bonus, let her cast through the shield so she can knock enemies off their feet while blocking.
So hey figured I'd post up my first character:

  • Name: Sakura Kyouko
  • Age: 14
  • Appearance: "I'll kill you if you waste food."
  • World of Origin: Puella Magi Madoka Magica(Post-Series, there is no third movie)
  • Powers/Equipment: Kyouko's body is stronger and more durable as a result of being a Puella Magi. On top of this, she can transform into her magical girl form, sporting a red outfit and a spear that can unlink itself to become almost-whip like, the segments connected by chains. The spear is highly extendable as well, and incredibly sharp. Kyouko is far more difficult to kill then a normal human, but if her Soul Gem is destroyed she will instantly die. Kyouko also possesses illusions and an enchanting ability that in action is basically being able to sweet-talk others into doing things for her, but she is as of now unwilling or incapable of using it. She sports an aggressive fighting style fueled by her equally aggressive personality.
Kyouko carries her Soul Gem, which she uses to transform in a magical girl. In this form she carries a spear that can detach itself and become something like a chain whip, which she can wrap enemies in. The tip is extremely sharp. At any given time, she has a mass amount of snack food on her person.
  • Brief Backstory: A girl who suffered tragedy after becoming a magical girl, which formed her current worldview. Due to a chain of events, one that massively effected the world, she now has more company and likely a brighter future, even in her eventual death.
  • Personality: Kyouko is a rough, abrasive girl with a rather selfish attitude. She has no qualms about stealing food or other items, and feels that it's simple fact that she has to do whatever she can to get by. She's something of a tomboy, and her taste in fashion makes her come off looking rather like a delinquent(which is not an entirely inaccurate assumption given how she acts). She is also somewhat obsessed with food, carrying snacks on her person at nearly all times and frequently seen eating. And eating. And eating. Kyouko eats a lot. In spite of her selfish, abrasive attitude, Kyouko has a softer side that sometimes comes out. A girl who sometimes remembers she wanted to help people, a girl who likes stories that, no matter how bad things get, have a happy ending. As a result, even if she initially tends to treat them like idiots, Kyouko has a soft spot for people who want to help others, deep inside her. Due to certain events in her home universe, her softer side is now more likely to come out. However, this doesn't change the fact that she's often abrasive and rough towards others, and still quite selfish.
  • Other: Kyouko has discovered a way to be able to produce snack food at any moment. No matter what.
@Suku: It's still open, and you can definitely join.
Fanilly is not allowed to touch alcohol.

Thankfully she is not interested in touching it.
@Zetsuko: That's fine, I don't mind at all.
I'm still trying to settle on a house at the moment.
"..."

For a few moments, Fanilly was too stunned to react to anything. Instead, she stood, looking on in shock, for several moments. Finally, she bowed her head, her embarrassment in no way helped by this situation. Cheeks deeply red, the short blonde stared down at her feet and mumbled for a few moments, stumbling over her words. A captain of the Iron Roses shouldn't be so... things shouldn't end up so... Regardless, she swiftly turned away.

"I... sh... should have knocked," she said, flatly. The statement, deep down, sounded kind of stupid given the situation. She hadn't been looking where she was going, after all. This intensely awkward situation was definitely not anything she wanted to repeat, at any rate, and so she just remained firmly looking away. Fanilly could have gone her whole life without experiencing anything like this. She strongly wished that had been the case.

At the very least, there was no way this situation could get any more awkward. She would simply walk away and head to the baths herself. She'd been considering proceeding to the female baths rather then her own private one, as embarrassing as the thought was, but now she was not at all certain this was a good idea.

No, returning to her room immediately and burying her face in a pillow seemed like the better one, but Fanilly still wanted to bathe.
Irial sighed.

"Firstly-"

She raised her hand to the right. Fire immediately traveled up it as the spell recited itself in her mind, the heat causing her hair the drift in the air. It gathered in her palm, twisting into a perfect orb of flames.

"Firebolt."

The blazing flames tore from her hand and hit the sands. It wasn't the most intense flame she could produce, but it was indeed a show that she could produce quite hot fires. Too hot and it may have been a bit more dangerous. As it stood, there was a definite scorch mark plastered across the sandy ground. Smoke rose from the small elven girl's palm, and she raised her hand up, cocking her head to one side as she looked up at the human.

"Does that answer your question?"

Without waiting for a response, she continued, folding her arms.

"Secondly, you're an idiot," she began, "I have no idea how to work glass. Do you? Do you honestly think I'd want to start melting something like that all over the place without knowing exactly what I'm doing? You've obviously underestimated my intelligence. Or maybe you're just that stupid?"

Irial waved her hand dismissively.

"Regardless, unless we have someone who knows how to work glass, I'm not doing it."
