Current I think watching fight scenes can help in general terms with writing combat, since it can give you an idea of flow and choreography.

At least if you're writing something you know, with knights.

I mean, depends on what you're writing, and the tone and theme of what you're writing. Trained armored knights were legitimately monstrous on the battlefield, so looking up how they fought helps.

As much as there's a lot of reasons twitter sucks, I genuinely don't want to see it die for the sake of all the artists who now rely on it. Hoping the shithead stops trying to directly administrate.

roleplayerguild.com/posts/5… If anyone's up for fighting some kaiju, why not try out my new RP, Godzilla: YATAGARUSU?

Aaaand there we go.

Faust took this entire time to summon her new friend, most of her demons will be less complex and strong if she has to summon them on the fly.
Arturia Pendragon Saber - Babylonia

Lancelot... the last time she had seen him, he had been gripped by madness, though in death he had not... still, to be summoned into the class of Berserker. It had all been her fault. No matter what the faithful Knight of the Lake insisted, Arturia Pendragon was certain the blame was placed firmly, rightfully, upon her shoulders. However, there had not been much time to debate such matters. Saber's duty still stood above all else, and that duty had taken her elsewhere. It was impossible to ignore the blazing heat and light, but regardless Saber did not pay heed to that as much as she did to the enormous beam of light that had emerged from what sounded like an explosion. The soldiers in their way would need to step aside, so they could proceed onward.

However, they were not yet stepping forward to fight. Indeed, if they were forced into combat, Saber would conduct herself with honor in battle. However, they were not seeking to battle the local soldiery. Instead, the short blonde knight elected to use another method, as opposed to anything else.

Her armored feet clanked on the stone steps as she proceeded forward, Invisible Air hazily enwrapping Excalibur.

"We mean no harm," she began, "We have come to investigate that light, step aside so we may proceed. We do not seek to attack this land's lords or its citizens. But if we are attacked, we will defend ourselves."

It was straightforward and to the point. The goal was to discover the origin of the light and what it was doing, not to attack those who had pledged to defend this land.

Still, the King of Knights was sure to place herself between the soldiers and her Master.

Kobayakawa Yumi, Master of Lancelot - Babylonia

It was too hot here. There was no other way to put it. She'd already put up with her Servant(who seemed mostly awesome at first) deciding it was time to endlessly blame himself, and enter a cycle of self-blame with a blonde, female Servant, who also seemed intent on blaming herself. While she was certain to have summoned an incredible Servant(Lancelot, the Knight of the Lake!) it was undeniable that the self-blame was rather irritating. And now there was the temperature, which was also irritating. Somewhat less irritating was the presence of Honoria, who was a girl she at least knew unlike many of those other people around. And at least the foul-smelling old man hadn't come here. The sunlight would probably have made him reek even more terribly.

"Saber," she began, eyes resting on the ridiculous choice of weapon her Servant had made. A ladle? Really? Even if it had become a Noble Phantasm due to Lancelot's abilities... "You couldn't have at least picked something a little more effective? With an edge maybe?"

She sighed. Those soldiers all looked like they were nervous and jittery. Hmph, they'd be idiots if they attacked right now... Inexplicably female King Arthur seemed to have taken the first step in attempting to make them step aside. Ichineko, currently in her humanoid form, stood behind her, ready to fight at a moment's notice if things went wrong.

Amalie Georg Faust, Caster - Scandanavia

Stay close? Of course! But... for now, they had to get going, didn't they?

Faust quickly realized that the place in which they had arrived truly required them to stay close. It was so dark! If not for the weird blue fire it'd be the darkest dark ever to dark! Caster clutched Gretchen close to her chest, looking around somewhat nervously. It was a good thing she'd managed to do most of the work, she didn't like this place at all... It wasn't long, however, before they spotted something. Well, something other then dead bodies... Two powerful figures, a man and a woman, clashing in combat. The man called to them, said that something was wrong with the corpses, that they were... tainted?

Well, Caster didn't want to touch the corpses anyway! That would be sad and weird... She didn't know any of them anyway it'd be really impolite wouldn't it it wasn't like they were something super cute where she just had to hug it they were dead bodies! ... Ah, she almost got distracted from wrapping up her summoning! ... Those bodies were starting to move though, weren't they...

"... Those are the Dead," Faust said, more urgently then usual, "Gretchen can tell too! They're going to come back to life and try and surround us and bite us and it'll be gross but they're not too tough so don't worry I've got a new friend coming!"

The small girl took a deep breath, squaring up her feet as she did. A more complex demon required a little more focus... A light grey circle of prana formed in her palm.

"Ah, desire, blood, bone, come to me! Heed my words! I call for your services, for your loyal aid in destroying my enemies. Your flesh is my canvas to form as I will. I grant you a body, and you grant me your servitude! Come to me, o mighty demon...!"

Prana swiftly gathered, forming a body that began to emerge from the circle. She had spent much of her time since having a meal conjuring her new friend, and giving them a form. What better shape for her first new friend then a butler?

And indeed, that was what emerged. A graceful female butler, but her nature was that of a demon. A creature of desires, given form and flesh by Caster's magecraft.

"Edeltaud!" Caster called to her creation, at once naming her and getting her attention, "Smash the corpses! Smash as many as you can! They're all bad guys who are going to come back and try and get us!"

The butler's attention returned to the bodies, and she nodded. "Yes, Mistress!"

With a burst of speed, beyond a human's capabilities, she was on one twitching body in a second. Raising her leg up, she brought her heel down as hard as she could, and the body's skull exploded into a shower of blood, bone, and flesh. Twisting gracefully, her hand neatly severed another corpse's head from its neck.
  • Name: Kobayakawa Yumi
  • Age: 17
  • Appearance: "I don't appreciate being snuck up on. Hmph." Yumi's pretty short.
  • Personality: Yumi is a surly and aggressive girl. Irritable and with a mind directed at success, Yumi is quick to criticize and deride others for their perceived failings. She has a domineering attitude and dislikes those who try and disobey her when she feels she as a better handle on the situation then everyone else(which is always), but can easily become flustered or embarrassed if she finds herself in any remotely awkward situation. This includes things like simply being approached too closely, which can result in a a sudden flustered, defensive switch. Yumi is extremely proud of her capabilities as a magus, her pride second only to her tempermental nature. However, she is not completely heartless even if she is a rather abrasive person. Beneath her outer shell of insults and complaints, there can be found a girl who cares deeply for those who could be considered her allies, and who detests backstabbing wholeheartedly. A magus can succeed upon their own merits, without betraying others, in her mind. A magus who feels the need to backstab others in order to find their way to success is simply a failure as a magus who cannot stand upon their own two feet.
  • Abilities: Yumi's affinity is air. As a result, she has several spells relating to this affinity. One particular nasty one can cause the explosion of an undefended target's lungs, but she's reluctant to use this spell and rarely is a target in such pressing need of death undefended from such interference. Aside from a basic ability to construct bounded fields and other such utility and offense spells, Yumi uses two chief items in the course of practicing her magecraft.
    • Familiars: Yumi utilizes a variety of familiars. Chief among these is Ichineko, the unimaginatively-named cat familiar whom she first created as a test of her usage of the Kobayakawa family's knowledge. Seemingly lazy and somewhat playful, Ichineko is swift to jump to her creator's aid whenever it is required. Ichineko is quite fast, and in either form can produce extremely sharp claws as well as eject a burst of prana from the center of her body, targeted at enemies. She has a high level of regenerative capabilities, but is easily disabled and injured. Other familiars include butterflies as scouts and a snail that has 'No practical use'.
    • Mystic Code-Hundred Lance: A set of one hundred razor sharp needles that can easily, and deeply, pierce soft targets, Yumi can control and fire these needles utilizing her affinity for air. After piercing a target, or missing, Yumi can also retrieve these needles. However, barriers and armor can easily deflect this mystic code. Still, it can function as a distraction, seeming like a hundred tiny lances suddenly homing in on a target.
  • History: Yumi was born to the Kobayakawa magus family, a family skilled in a number of different magecraft techniques, including the manufacturing and deployment of familiars. Yumi was, of course, an only child, and therefore inherited her family's crest without difficulty. She was trained in her family's arts religiously, and an early test was the creation of a familiar. Using the body of a recently deceased cat, a family pet who had died, and the soul of a young girl who had suffered from illness and death. By uniting these, Yumi produced her first personal familiar. Since then she has created several others for utility purposes, such as a set of butterflies used as scouts, but her cat has remained her chief familiar. When her family was contacted, they elected to send Yumi as a test of her capabilities as a magus.

So redoing some things. Althienna is getting replaced with this girl.
  • Name: Nakamura Akira
  • Age: 19
  • Gender: Female ("WAIT WHAT?!")
  • Race: Elf ("WHAT?!")
  • Appearance: Blonde hair, green eyes, pale... and... definitely not a nineteen-year-old human male. She's pretty tiny, at around 4'2. ("WHY?!")
  • History: Nakamura Akira was born to an average Japanese family. Spending a lot of time camping in the wilderness, Akira also got to experience a great deal of outdoors activities, such as fishing and hiking. Beyond that his life was fairly average, and he made some good friends.
  • Personality: Akira is a serious person, which makes the... extremely unserious situation she finds herself in a bit problematic. Indeed, Akira was already rather moody and prone to pointing out things he saw as stupid, and now that he is small and female and not actually a human anymore it seems to have gone up to eleven. Akira is outspoken about stupidity, whenever she sees it she won't keep her mouth shut, even if it comes across as rather insulting and may indeed be just because she's annoyed. It's rather easy to annoy the pint-sized elf girl, as well. She is a logical person, and when things do not go in logical ways she is prone to become exasperated, losing logic as she becomes more upset. However, in spite of this surly personality, Akira does indeed care about her friends and people in trouble, and won't hesitate to help out. Even if she covers it up with complaints.
  • Abilities: Akira's new body is physically weak and frail, but agile. She possesses excellent vision, spectacular reflexes, and the ability to worm her tiny frame into small spaces and sneak about. Akira possesses a great deal of outdoors knowledge, having been on numerous camping trips prior, but no longer possesses the strength and endurance for some of the more strenuous tasks. Finally, given she has the appearance of an elf child, cuteness charm is a very useful ability. She may find it embarrassing, but she won't hesitate to use it when the need arises. The only situation in which she exhibits surprising strength is in the handling of a bow, in which she has incredible aim and the ability to fire trick shots. Additionally, she can also supply her bow with a pair of magical arrows, taking advantage of an elf's inherent magical abilities to produce an arrow that splits into many more arrows on impact and an arrow that causes a small magical explosion upon hitting its target. Creating these magic arrows takes a lot of energy and can leave her sleepy, however.
  • Equipment: Akira possesses a sturdy but otherwise average bow. However, her elven nature grants her some skill in magic as well, allowing her to supply her bow with unique magical arrows.

"Scrying is something any mage worth their salt should know how to do," replied Toshiko. Yuuno shuffled in her seat and grumbled to herself, giving Ryuuko another look for a few moments as the redheaded mage approached her apprentice.

"It's only natural to introduce you to it when it's become relevant. You'll need to participate in the spell," continued Toshiko, producing the ofuda scrap again, "By using this scrap of ofuda, we'll be able to trace their location. This was pretty clumsy of them, when you think about it, leaving something like this behind."

She paused for a moment. "More specifically, we'll be tracing Bunny's mana. There's still traces of it inside this piece of paper, which means that by using scrying we should be able to lock onto her. I can't imagine Kitty will be far away."

@TheHangedMan: Sorry I was busy a lot yesterday I'll try and look at it today.

@ACHTUNG: Er, you do realize when you detransform your copies disappear right? ^^;
Er... Excalibur's not entirely relevant to this conversation but it totally bypasses perfect magic resistance. It'd still vaporize you if you have A-rank magic resistance. It's the atomization of every single thing the light washes over, and it's just a blast of prana that magic resistance doesn't really do anything against. It kills an evil Extradimensional God and one-shots the Holy Grail... and in one route of Fate kills Gil himself and totally bypasses any magic resistance. ... Also apparently daemonic saves are negated by magic weapons according to friends who know Warhammer so uh.

In any case, um... if he's really that durable this is ridiculous? Especially since he's kind of shown to not be already since Youmu cut him successfully and Youmu's weapons are strong but not like, top-rank Noble Phantasm level... except maybe stuff like Reflecting Satellite Slash and 200 Yojana in One Slash but those are techniques and not direct functions of the weapons.

If you say he's this durable(if he actually is this durable) I honestly think he never should have been accepted. None of my characters can flat out no-sell anything but the absolute strongest attacks from one of the more powerful characters in the RP. Gilgamesh can't do that. I can't think of any other characters in the RP that can do that. Sure there's some characters who would be at a serious disadvantage against others but um...
