Current I think watching fight scenes can help in general terms with writing combat, since it can give you an idea of flow and choreography.

At least if you're writing something you know, with knights.

I mean, depends on what you're writing, and the tone and theme of what you're writing. Trained armored knights were legitimately monstrous on the battlefield, so looking up how they fought helps.

As much as there's a lot of reasons twitter sucks, I genuinely don't want to see it die for the sake of all the artists who now rely on it. Hoping the shithead stops trying to directly administrate.

roleplayerguild.com/posts/5… If anyone's up for fighting some kaiju, why not try out my new RP, Godzilla: YATAGARUSU?

@Saltwater Thief: I'll look into the bio shortly.

Candaeln isn't a town. It's the home base of the Iron Roses, a large building with an expansive bath(donated Mayon blessed water stocking it), a kitchen, and a lot of bedrooms.

It's in Aimlenn, Thaln's capital.
Losses and injuries are, again, something totally different from having your character killed.
Alright then.
@Feisty-Pants: I'd like to see your idea for one first, but sure.
I've posted another interest check in hopes to get more interest in the RP going. ^^;
The sun sinks low as you walk home from school, your friends already have gone their separate ways for the day. At the moment, you're feeling a little bit alone, to be honest. At least the sky is pretty, the setting sun panting the clouds in shades of orange and red as it slowly sinks towards the horizon. For the moment, your mind is on various concerns having to do with school. Your grades, all the homework you have due... ah, it's not so bad but still, thinking of homework can be a little bit stressful, right? So your mind drifts to other matters, as you adjust the skirt of your school uniform after pausing for a moment. You're a little embarrassed to admit it, but one of the matters that floats through your brain is the fact that, well... Ever since you were a little girl, you always wanted to be some kind of hero! And you'd heard about them, those girls who were lucky enough to get those incredible powers... Ah, it's something you'd always wanted!

You'd spent so much time looking at fansites, reading up about everything anyone knew about magical girls. Even with the popularity polls and everything, no-one actually knew the identities of the girls. In a way, that was exciting, wasn't it? One could be at your school! But there was also that feeling of jealousy. How did they get picked out, and why hadn't you been picked if so? There had to be some reason, though... right?

You sigh as you walk along. Maybe you shouldn't be too worried about this... maybe it's better to just try and focus on your homework, and forget about a silly little dream you had since you were a little girl.

Until you hear that voice from behind you. It's a small one, and as you turn it's revealed to be the voice of a little girl. No, no, not a child, a girl who could literally sit in the palm of your hand. And she has wings... and... and... it's a fairy?!

"Hi there!" the girl says brightly, proudly displaying the badge on her chest. "Would you like to be my partner, so I can ignite your heart and you can be a hero?!"

You say yes faster then you can even think.

For years, there have been magical girls. Girls who have gained incredible, magical powers in order to defend the innocent from evil. And these girls are the world's best defense against the Negari. Monsters of all sorts of shapes and sizes, magical girls are the only ones who can effectively fight and defeat them whenever they appear.

Thanks to magical beings known as fairies, tiny winged girls, form partnerships with human girls in order to give them the power they need to defeat the Negari wherever they appear. And so, across the world, hundreds upon hundreds of magical girls balance their daily lives and their duties to defeat the Negari!

The largest concentration of magical girls is in Japan, and something that has come to exist across the years is popularity poll for magical girls, one for each city and a larger national one conducted once a year. In addition, numerous magical girl fansites have sprung up on the internet.

Of course, fame and popularity gets to some magical girls' heads, and disagreement between girls can turn into full-blown fights over who gets to patrol where or who takes what spot in the polls.

Still, even with these conflicts, rarely is anyone seriously hurt, and the magical girls keep defending the innocent!

And yet, something strange has been happening recently. Lately, there has been an unusual amount of Negari appearing in and around the coastal Umitori City. This has resulted in fairies being a bit more aggressive in their search for magical girl candidates, often looking for anyone who remotely has potential. However, there's rumors that someone else might be after these candidates...

So, a magical girl RP!

Tonally, I'd like this to actually start out fairly light and even silly at times. However, it will have a serious plot and fights are intended to usually be fairly serious. It'll get increasingly serious as it goes on, as well.

Magical girls can vary a lot in appearance, as their outfits and powers are influenced by the girls' subconscious. As a result, no two magical girls are alike!

Every magical girl has a fairy. Fairies have assigned themselves the job of searching for candidates. They all possess some level of magical healing ability, so if a magical girl is injured, her fairy can help her get back on her feet.

Fairies carry a book of regulations, with three top rules for magical girls at the beginning.

RULES:
1. Magical Girl Candidates must be from 8 to 18. However, once a magical girl candidate becomes a magical girl, they remain one.
2. MAGICAL GIRLS MUST BE GIRLS!!!
3. Magical girls may not use their abilities against nonmagical individuals. The exception is when a nonmagical individual poses a serious threat to a magical girl.

The Negari steadily became more and more common as humans grew more and more clustered together. While there are so many benefits to cities and inter-connectivity, unfortunately this has lead to negative emotions more easily clustering together and birthing more Negari. The stronger the negative emotion that creates a Negari, the more powerful that Negari is.

The most basic form can be destroyed in droves by any competent magical girl, but more powerful types of Negari can prove to be a serious danger even to the most skilled among them. There's even Negari who might be fully intelligent and humanlike, if born from powerful enough negative feelings.

Regardless of type, they nearly always attempt to hurt innocent people, though it's possible they can be directed by a stronger power, or that the intelligent Negari may have more complicated motivations.

This RP has already started! But I'm posting a second interest check to see if I can get more players!
Characters becoming injured is one thing.

An RP where your characters can be killed at any time is an RP I will never, ever join.

A lot of effort goes into creating a character, and a player might have a lot they would like to do with that character. Effort goes into writing for that character as well. Having that character suddenly killed without your discretion is intensely demoralizing and feels unfair. After all, you put a lot of work into creating this character and now they're gone. If a player is okay with having their character killed, then that character can be killed.

You can have a complicated and dramatic plot without being like Madoka, and I like Madoka quite a bit though it's not my favorite magical girl show. Nanoha and Symphogear both have more complex and dramatic plots, Precure can get pretty dramatic(but I'm not really advocating the RP be like Precure. I tend to lean Nanoha or Symphogear for tone when it comes to magical girl RPs).

Part of the reason I bring up Symphogear is admittedly because, well..

Who doesn't like it when the action in a magical girl anime suddenly turns up to incredibly over the top levels?
Goldibanne

"It's nice to meet you, Kamijou-san, Othinus-san~" Goldibanne replied, brightly, with a second curtsy before she straightened. It seemed the 'Entertainer' had finally elected to actually explain to them what was going on. The whole 'alternate reality' thing, well, that explained why there were so many unusual people around, didn't it? If there were a vast amount of different realities that meant that there was a bast amount of different possibilities that could all be totally unique and separate from one another. Gracefully rotating on her heel to face the swirly-headed man, she cocked her head slightly to one side as she listened to the explanations. So, there were people who wanted to mess with everything and cause chaos, was there? Well, if it could threaten Ayame-sama and her 'sisters' then that was absolutely not something she could ever allow.

"Goldibanne will agree to all this, then," she said, waving her hand quickly. A wish, too, huh...? "Goldibanne can't deny being interested in that wish, either~ But Ayame-sama is what Goldibanne cares about most."

Naturally, the biggest matter of concern was the safety and well-being of her creator. If any of these agents did try to harm her...

"Those agents will get to experience being nothing but a bloody stain on the floor~ Fufufu~"
Goldibanne still needs a Touma post so waiting on her.
Konpaku Youmu

A woman in heavy clothing had approached as well, and introduced herself as Mei-ling Zhou. In most cases Youmu would have bowed politely and introduced herself as well, but this was hardly what could be referred to as 'most cases'. Indeed, moments after she had realized she might want to perform some sort of introduction herself, the swirly-head man finally revealed why he had brought everyone here. It was a long and fairly involved explanation, but to the silvery-haired girl's surprise it was revealed that there were alternate worlds, other universes with a host of differences within them. This was a lot of information to absorb, but it did explain the enormous variety in the people around her. Many of them hardly looked like the kind of people she would expect even from the outside world. But that wasn't the end of it, not at all.

It was also apparent that some of the people working for this Agency the man described had gone rogue, or something of that nature, and were seemingly intent on causing chaos across multiple realities. Now the half-phantom gardener understood why they had been called here, and why he did not seem quick to return them. Youmu nodded to herself, quietly. Yes, this too, then, would be in service of Yuyuko-sama.

Clasping her hands in front of her, Youmu bowed. Not to introduce herself to the man, as he already knew of her, but to introduce herself to everyone else.

"I am Konpaku Youmu," she began, her phantom half following her motions as she straightened. "I hope we can all work together. I will not fail."

Rem

As the man with the vortex head spoke, Rem lowered her flail more and more. There were... multiple realities? Not only were there multiple realities, but there was a threat to all of these universes in the form of these agents? It was almost too overwhelming for the blue-haired girl to comprehend, and for a few moments she sat in silence trying to get her thoughts together. But, there were a few matters that stuck out to her in the conversation. That lay in the threat that these agents posed. It was a threat to entire universes, to the people in them. It was on a scale that was difficult to understand, but what Rem could understand was that it posed a threat to the people that she cared most about. As much as she wanted to return, so that she could be close to Subaru, to be able to ensure her both him and her sister were safe, this, too, would be for their protection.

After some hesitation, Rem finally put away her flail. The maid quietly bowed her head, as well, her feet shuffling slightly. In truth, she was worried. Worried about how things were turning out back home, for Subaru and her sister. She was worried about a great many things. This new information had only grown her list of worries. What would happen?

And... it was hard to deny the appeal of that wish...

So caught up in her concerns was Rem that she did not directly state that she would work to stop these agents. However, the way her ball and chain had vanished may have made things clear.
