Name: John "Doc" Johnson Age: 38 Previous Occupation: High School Teacher and Adviser Current role: Medic Weapon of Choice: AK-74
How did you come to this role: Doc has 10 years of professional schooling, and is a licensed medical practitioner who spent a couple years aiding doctors without borders. High stress environments such as this have always been a part of his life.
Personal History:
John Johnson knew he wanted to be a doctor from a young age. His father was a doctor, his uncle was a doctor... one could say it ran through his blood. So John spent most of his life buckling down and getting his work done. He took the time to be averagely social, playing baseball in the spring for his school's team from Middle School through High School. He stopped participating in competitive sports when he left high school, much to the dismay of his couch and fellow players.
Once in college, he hit the books hard. He went out of state to go to Duke University. His life changed drastically. Despite being set on becoming a doctor and staying in the pre-med program, John fell in love with history and literature. He ended up double majoring in History and Biology, with a minor in Global Health. He also managed to get swept up in a young romance with a fellow history major, Jenna Rainsby. Unfortunately, they parted ways as they graduated to pursue post-graduate education.
After four years of Medical School, John got caught up in the desire to do something with his life. Now a licensed medical practitioner, he went to serve with Doctors without Borders for two years. He served in rural parts of Southeast Asia for a few months before being sent to the Middle East for the rest of his time there, aiding victims of the violent conflicts in the region. He had seen the brutality of conflict and had been up to his elbows in viscera more than a few times. When he returned to the states, he gave up on medicine for the time being.
John ended up going to grad school to attain his Masters in History and meet the requirements to become a high school teacher. He then moved back to his hometown to teach at his high school. He was brought on as a member of the History Department, where he happened to run in to his college sweetheart. The two rekindled their relationship, and got married a year and a half later. At the point of the Invasion, John was an assistant coach for the baseball team, an adviser for students looking to pursue a career in medicine, a history teacher who taught the general World History freshman required course and an honors class on Western Civilization, a loving husband, and the father to a boy and a girl.
Personality:
Without a doubt, he is an academic and a father to the very core. He has a tendency to lecture his friends and allies, mostly a byproduct of his role as an educator, adviser, and coach. That being said, Doc is always there for those in need. He manages to make the medicinal supplies he has access to last. He always helps himself last, instead always doing what he can to put the needs or desires of others first. When not fixing up injured Wolverines, he's often reading through what's left of his library collection. The book he keeps going back to, for some reason, is his version of the Complete Works of Shakespeare.
How did you join up with the Wolverines?:
Doc was well known throughout his community. He received an award for his outstanding service to his community before the invasion. Afterwards, he reached out to everyone he possibly could to offer his services as a doctor. It was only a matter of time before the Wolverines reached out to him. The first time he was asked to join, Doc declined to join officially out of fear for his family. He did reach out after the abduction of his family, and was brought into the fold.
Why did you choose to fight?:
One of the biggest consequences to an invasion like the one the Americans are experiencing? People end up imprisoned. Among those who were taken from their homes were Doc's wife and his two children, 7 year-old twins (a boy and a girl). Doc was out on a "house call" after the invasion, trying to check in on some family friends. Losing his family to the North Koreans drove Doc to the brink, willing to aid any efforts to try and get them back. Needless to say, a doctor would be useful in such an effort.

Name: Sigil-Master Garkan Race: Half-Alv Class: Enchanter Subclass: Sigilmancer Level: 92 Brief Appearance: While being at the maximum height of his race at around 5' 6", everything else about Garkan screams the appearance of a traditional mage. His character sports a dark cloak with a hood that hides his slender figure. Garkan's face is pointed, and lacks physical mass. In regards to age, the avatar looks to be a young adult, perhaps in his mid-20s. Brief Personality: Being the cynical man he is, Garkan is often considered to be sarcastic and bitter. He often has a wisecrack, and speaks down on nearly everyone he meets (Cassio included). However, he is one of the most knowledgeable players in Elder Tales, especially when it comes to his subclass. Garkan has been attempting to figure out how to craft mythical items his entire life, and the rumored Artifact-level Sunblade and Moonblade are the latest items on his list. He's incredibly focused on the creating of these swords, and won't quit trying to get them crafted. Brief History: Garkan is well-known in particular communities for his focus on being the first to help create mythical items. Being a Sigilmancer, his skills are required by many to help give crafted items the extra "magical breath of life" that makes them properly powerful. In the past month, he has helped Garkan finish crafting his current swords while leading the charge on finding the locations for the materials for the Sunblade and Moonblade. Within The Blades, he acts as the unofficial second-in-command despite being the only non-swordsmith. He has other side projects he is working on, and works with various other guilds as necessary. Guild: The Blades, member
Username: C4ss10 "Cassio" Real Name: William Jones Gender: Male Age: 38 Race: Half-Alv Class: Swashbuckler Subclass: Swordsmith Level: 90 Appearance:
Cassio's avatar appears to be a younger male with gray hair. He wears simplistic clothing that seems to resemble business attire. In fact, Cassio refuses to wear actual armor, instead using magical items that are modified to appear mundane. He keeps this relatively unassuming presence to allow opponents to underestimate him, while also giving him the added presence of having to rely almost entirely on pure skill to accomplish his goals.
Background: Will first learned of Elder Tales when he was a senior in high school. Him and his friends signed up early on for the Beta, and were able to secure decent usernames as a result. Will was a Shakespearean nerd, choosing a relatively obscure Othello reference as his username. The kids ended up forming a guild on the MMO called the Arcanian Vanguards so that they could stay connected when life tore them away physically. They were about twenty-five strong at the most. By the time of the Catastrophe, there were only eleven active members of the guild.
Outside of playing Elder Tales, Will was the "Community Development Manager" for his alma mater's theater department. He had graduated from the university with degrees in advertising and film. He was a husband to his high school sweetheart (and former member of the Guild), and had two children. He would dedicate as much of his spare time as he could playing Elder Tales to ensure that he could keep his levels up for raids. He was the first to reach the level cap in the guild, and is considered one of the best Swordsmiths on the server before the Catastrophe.
In Game History: The greatest disappointment Cassio faced during the catastrophe was realizing that no members of his guild were online. His friends, most of whom he'd known since childhood, were completely separated from him. Being the only online member of the Arcanian Vanguards, Cassio quickly disbanded the Guild and moved to start a new guild, The Blades. He reached out to every Swordsmith he could locate through his contacts, and started up the relatively small guild. He's spent most of his time training up his members in Swordsmithing, while also working to begin his slow climb upwards through fighting and adventuring.
Guild/Position: Guild Master of the Blades
The Blades is the premiere Swordsmith guild of the North American Server. Will, upon realizing his other friends weren't online, started the guild shortly after the start of the Catastrophe in order to keep himself busy and in an attempt to grant any Swordsmiths the chance to train and gather together to develop their skills and trade their products. The Guild is relatively small, given how unpopular the Swordsmith subclass is.
Number of Members: 28
Personality: Cassio is highly trained and regimented in regards to his play-style. He is a min-maxer, and has dedicated himself to optimizing his skills and mastering his craft. As a result, Cassio seemed distant to most when he played "for fun" over the years. More recently, Cassio's nature as a father has become more apparent. He is nurturing of the skills of lower-level players, taking as many in under his wing over the past month. When he interacts with other guilds or participates in quests, his old tendencies to communicate only when necessary and focus solely on completing the objective reign supreme.
A Goal that he has placed for himself is to create two swords that have been deemed only a rumor: the Sun Blade and the Moon Blade. Some minor rumors in dialogue trees, minor quests, and deep diving into game files years ago hinted that they could exist. Part of Cassio's reason for establishing The Blades was to determine if it was possible and how these twin blades could be crafted or located. He's recently picked up a reliable lead, but it would require journeying far from his guild's current location to pick up specific components.
Swashbuckler Skills: Early Thrust: A skill that can only be used when a combat encounter first begins, or before it begins. Does a moderate amount of damage, and places three marks. Razor Edge: Interrupts a target's casting of a spell. Moderate cooldown. Places a mark. Viper's Thrash: A powerful DOT (Damage over Time) skill that forces bleed damage and reduces the target's accuracy. Places a mark. Snake Bites: Reduces Target's Accuracy. Can stack up to 4 times on each target. Places a Mark Lightning Step: Teleports user behind target in a flash of light. Moderate Cooldown. Whirlwind: Basic AOE attack that deals moderate damage to nearby enemies. Moderate Cooldown. Cheap Trick: Concentrated attack that deals moderate damage quickly and interrupts target's action. Often used as a powerful swashbuckler counter move. Moderate-Long Cooldown. Places a mark. Thrust Joker: Powerful Thrust move that deals moderate damage and high DOT with powerful Bleed damage. Can only be chained as a counter when user receives damage. Long Cooldown. Places a mark. Round Windmill: Large AOE Move. Sees the user jump into the air and perform a high number of critical slashing attacks while mid-air. Useful in clearing out mobs or dealing a massive amount of damage to a boss. Has a long cooldown, and causes a long "freeze time" for user after triggering. Break Trigger: Finishing Move that causes all markers on all enemies to detonate at once. Markers are typically placed due to other, minor skill attacks. High Cooldown time.
Swordsmith Skills: Forge's Flame: Minor Fire Resistance as a result of constantly working with blades. Passive. One with the Blade: Minor stat boost to attack and defense stats when wielding blades. Passive. Master Sword Crafting: Can craft nearly any sword in the game, so long as the crafting components are found and the recipe is known.
Racial Skills: Analyzer: You are an expert in artificial weapons created in ancient times. Unlike the descendants of its former creators, the Alvs, these machines can only be used for destruction. Dimension Walker: An expert in the Alv's transitory magic, you can freely control distance by sensing the world's fluctuations. Native Operator: You're a natural at operating various tools, from machines to apparatuses. Its complexity doesn't matter; you can use a steering carriage to an ancient Alv defense mechanism. Parallel Mind: A skill where your thoughts run in a parallel, separating your physical movements from your mind when hit with a bad status. Progressive Relic: You have a high affinity for consumable items said to come from ancient Alvs. You can even use complex items that cannot be used by other races.
Equipment:
Flash Lindworm: A pair of powerful and beautiful phantasmal-class dueling swords. Required components that took months of raiding in order to then be crafted within the past month as Cassio achieved the former cap in his Swordsmithing skill.
Gloves of the Duelist: Increases damage dealt by Early Thrust, and increases the damage and radius of explosions for Break Trigger.
Boots of the Rushing River: Decent boots that increase the movement and attack speed of the wearer, but penalizes the wearer if he stops moving to change direction. Once a gimmick item that now sees great use during the Catastrophe with the more streamlined "control" over the game.
Theme song:
Fun Facts: Cassio's username is a reference to the character "Michael Cassio," a character from Shakespeare's Othello. Will had spent much of his high school and collegiate life involved in performing with Shakespearean theater companies, and his first role was as Cassio.

"Revenge is a fool's game." Tosram's voice had been lowered to a whisper in the presence of the guards. He felt uncertain about speaking in their presence, lest they get any ideas about him or his personality. If he stayed as quiet as possible and as docile as possible... the chances of him surviving or escaping would increase. So Tosram simply answered the question quickly as they were ushered out to the courtyard.
Once he was there, his eyes quickly scanned the other arriving faces, as well as the fight that had broken out. Without much surprise, the guards seemed to take pleasure in it. Tosram wasn't one excited to see such a fight breaking out. His gut nearly sent him forward towards the fight to break it up, and potentially get involved. Yet, again, this would draw too much attention to himself. Instead, an idea crossed his mind. He stood next to his cellmate, looking around the perimeter for any other like-minded prisoners as a few drops of water began to drench his dry skin. His voice was still somewhat hushed. "The conditions seem to be ripe for a riot, if our plan was to get out of here. The fight can help distract the guards enough for us to get the rest of the people out here on board. Rain is coming, and that would give waterbenders something to work with." There was a surprisingly calm nature to Tosram's tone. It sounded less like a battle plan than just casual small talk. Yet his eyes were lit with fierce determination as he looked to his cellmate to see if he was on the same page.
Still haven't posted cause I kind of wrote myself in a corner when I had the demo man pass out in his room in my last post. So yeah, still here, just waiting for a new day before tossing up a post for the lovable psychopath.
@Aerandir Thank you for the clarifications. Just been bouncing through a few ideas in my head. The final question I suppose I have is whether it would be alright to be part of a splinter-group within a faction. My thought was a contingency of Woodsmen who have been loyal to the crown, but more loyal to a certain Woodsman within the faction. The idea is that in the RP they end up formally splitting from the Woodsmen due to ideological differences.
I had this plan honestly so that I could run a small faction of sorts, since I didn't want to just step in and try to claim leadership over the Woodsmen themselves, especially since you guys put in the work to establish the faction already. A splinter-group might add a weird (yet interesting) wrench into the mix of the rebellion.
