Yup, I think we can wrap this up @Bentus ?
Name: Doctor Isaac Kaplan
Age: 46
Job: Dome Ecology Supervisor
Appearance:

Skills:
Isaac's entire job is to prevent what he has dubbed 'the cock-up cascade' from happening. Sure the entire dome is doomed if there is a mechanical failure in the pumps or an electrical failure in the air purification systems or a general failure because a space rock punctures the roof, but there is also the risk of everything going to shit from the most minute detail in the fragile ecological system of the dome. First you get a barley failure, then since you don't feed the cows their ration of barley the enzime content of their manure is slightly off, so next the sorghum yield will lower, so you compensate but it fucks up the crop rotation and the next thing you know the plants doing the air scrubbing begin to fail and everyone dies from monoxide poisoning. Basically, Isaac knows how everything in the dome interacts with everything else.

Custom Amenities:
Being the first to set foot in the dome and knowing how low its occupancy would be, Isaac took on himself to put his name on two managerial suites on the corners of the residential building, one for his residency and another as a luxurious personal office. Taking up so much space might not have been the best idea however as he's struggled with keeping the place clean and orderly since day one and so these two rooms have become a mess of stacks of documents, papers, dishes, a few freezers and fridges to keep some of the best food items for himself and other things.

He had also set up some bee hives on top of the residential building to do amateur bee keeping, but moved them between two storage sheds further away after complained about the constant bees getting in their rooms the moment they kept a window open. Related to this, hidden in one of the sub-levels in a maintenance storage unit without any cameras, he's set up a home-made distillery where he's bottled some honey mead and has been trying his hand at wine to circumvent Holiday's alcohol rationing. He's had success with the mead, but a lot less with the wine.

Finally on the main pond he had a bunch of sand 'accidentally' dumped, creating a little beach corner where he keeps a chair, a radio and a fishing rod. It has been a while since he had the time to plant his feet in the sand though.

Relation with Holiday:
His greatest failure. When he was part of the design team, the doctor had insisted to make the managerial AI of the dome to be as 'idiot-proof' as possible so 'the idiots handling this great machine couldn't fuck up'. Now that he's one of these idiots he finds that was an annoying design choice to say the least. Its ironic, everything about her, that minutia, that female irish voice, he had a hand on making and he thought it made her so endearing, to have his own 'child' now rule over him and manage his life? It makes him a little bitter.

Biography:
Doctor Isaac Kaplan was once described as one of earth's best. A reputed biologist and part of Concern's space colonization program, he aimed to be one of the first human on a colony ship, a pioneer, a man who would have his name in the history books! And he might even have had the potential too. One thing he didn't have however was people's skill. Simply put: He was annoying. Perfectionist to a fault, he hammered his points in all meetings and refused to compromise during the design of Dome 10. His input surely contributed in the many awards that the dome received on his completion, a landmark design they called it! But as everyone was reassigned to work on stuff like the Mars domes and other colonial projects, Isaac was politely, innocently asked to just... stay at Dome 10 for a little while. Just to work out some kinks and make sure the launch of the project went as expected. A couple of weeks then became a couple of months...

Next thing Isaac knew he was being ghosted, his request transfers ignored and when he finally looked up to his boss (who used to be one of his old colleagues who had been promoted head of the moon project) to demand a new assignment, he was first told that he was just too valuable for the daily operation of the dome, that it was a prestigious post already, etc. When he menaced to give his resignation however, he was told to do it and see what happened. His old team had all moved on in prestigious positions in the biotech industry not just in Concern, but other corporations too, and everyone knew what a nightmare he was to work with. He'd be lucky to find a job as a lab assistant if he left his post now.

And so, Isaac was trapped.

Dispositions:

-Mihail Chivu - Positive: Isaac understands the outrage in front of the earth ecological disaster, it is only natural. But it is also natural to move on to more realistic expectations from life as you grow older. With Mihail being 30 now, Isaac is getting both impatient and anxious, feeling that the young man will either settle down in his work or do something stupid soon.

-Xi Yingxue - Very Positive: The apple of his eye, it may be hubris but he can't help but see a lot of himself in the young prodigy and gives her a lot more leeway than he does anyone else, which means tolerating minor mistakes as temporary lapses of judgement or gaps in her knowledge he is happy to educate. She is a hard worker after all, not just lazy like all the others. Isaac is doing his best to groom her to take his place should he finally get out of this purgatory but for all his affection, he still doesn't get her, taking her antisocial character at face value and just something she personally prefers so he does polite discussion when they work together but does not try to do anything more.

-Arthur Eel - Negative: A criminal ludite, the fact this is what Concern makes him work with annoys Isaac to no end. Yet he is forced to at least respect the skills of the man, though he only trusts him as far as he can keep an eye on him. An old convict with a grudge against society forced to work in a priceless corporately owned installation, what if he decides to go out with a bang or something?

-Alyssa Cross - Positive: When Alyssa initially came to the Dome, Isaac had been very skeptical to have a murderer work with him, but after a couple of years he mellowed out his opinion somewhat. He isn't sure if she did it or not, but her education and competence are genuine and although her snark is annoying, Isaac has done enough self reflection to understand this is probably how he comes out to others so he's willing to let it slide.

-Yevpraksiya Popova - Very Negative: Without being corpo aristocracy, Isaac led a very sheltered life that makes him unable to believe the dept of human misery some people suffer. In his mind, rough looking ruffian types are taken at face value and Popova must've done something to deserve her fate and all those terrible stories must be exaggerated or lies.

-Rhiannon Rossi - Negative: Too whimsical and not dedicated enough for his tastes, plus they got hired without having an official completed DVM, what is Concern thinking? After these years at least they've proven capable of doing their job without fucking up and if lying on their resume is their worst crimes then he can tolerate them.

-Isaac Adesso - Very Positive: This guy gets it, the urge to embark on a colony ship and get out there in the big unknown! And Isaac also gets it, to be passed over and left behind, your dreams crushed but still having to go on with life. The doctor roots for the EVA specialist and often chooses to turn a blind eye on his cavalier attitude toward regulations as well as schedule at least one yearly physical inspection of dome integrity to get the man to use his skills even if it could have been done remotely by drone.

-Gwendlyn Neilson - Positive: Gwendlyn's CV might not have all the bells and whistles Isaac would want someone working in this dome to have, but his middle class sensibilities give him a lot of respect for someone he sees as genuinely trying to pull herself up by her bootstraps and do better for herself without getting involved in crime like way too many others here. Plus for someone with no bio expertise she grows surprisingly good tea and seasonings and the two have had some fun 'theoretical' discussions about fermentation.

Trying to get some non-smeltery-or-smithing-efforts type stuff up for a moment. A peek into a potential friendship and into how far this hard-working redhead is willing to go! Not that she's quite at her goal yet, but if the ancients had to tinker a lot to get things to work....even someone with a great head-start in knowledge still has to figure it out in the practical sense all the same! Etc, etc.

Next post I am tempted to get a 'first metal tool is made' bit to happen, even if its maybe a hammer head of a small sort attached to a wooden handle of some kind, but I need to figure out if clay vessels and stuff like wooden tongs might work for metalworking stuff.

((I have no perfect picture on how the first metal hammers were made so far in my research, ugh. Does anyone here have some potential info on that so I can have a practical and sensiuble progression for Eliza making metal tools and such? (@_@)))

If you mean bronze tools, then I'd say thats been around for a while. If iron though...

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferrous_metallurgy

'It is not known when or where the smelting of iron from ores began, but by the end of the 2nd millennium BC, iron was being produced from iron ores in the region from Greece to India,'

As for metal production seems to go like
Copper
Bronze
Meteoric iron
Naitve/Telluric iron
Iron ore

I'll throw in a character too, see what happens.

Saga of Astrid - Year 1 Day 332

"Congratulations, you have twins! A boy and a girl." Astrid barely registered what was said as she laid in bed, absolutely drained by the ordeal of childbirth without any modern pain medication. She had been given a cocktail of herbs but she was pretty sure this was just a placebo. She took it gladly non the less.

She had survived, but barely.

The little blonde boy she named Sigmund while the girl she named Sif, Vilkas offering her the chance to name them as a compensation prize for almost dying. Those were savage names for kids who would have to live in savage times.

This was, to say the least, a traumatic delivery for Astrid. Her only solace was that the wise women and physicians hired by Vilkas to look over her made him understand that she was lucky to be alive and that there would not be another pregnancy. As these experts prepared to leave, their job of helping Astrid's delivery being done, she held them back. Before Astrid had been sympathetic but also somewhat indifferent to the daily suffering of people around her, seeing it as somewhat inevitable, something she could do nothing about, but this had shown her she should at least try. And so, she paid a retainer to keep those she judged to be the best at what they did to stay in Sardinia to help other women who would not have the means to hire them to give birth as well as to transmit their knowledge so hopefully some much needed medical expertise might be fostered.

Astrid's time was mainly taken to recover, with her friend Cidri being of invaluable help once again. Pregnancy had changed Astrid, mentally but also physically. She had never been one to gain weight but put up a few pounds during these last few months, the wise women making her understand that she needed to gather all her strength for what was to come. She did lose most of it afterward but it had left her with a more... matronly shape, something that the looks men gave her made it obvious they found it an improvement. Even with that however, Astrid was not fruitful when it came to provide for young Sigmund and Sif and so she relied on Cidri to feed them as only a mother could.

And then there was the matter of Vilkas. Astrid was surprised to see he had softened a lot toward her, giving her more displays of affection and tenderness than he gave even Cidri and Bela. Being who she was, Astrid found it suspicious. When asked about it, Cidri simply laughed it off.

"This whole ordeal made him understand how much he loves you, depends on you. While you were pregnant your business slowed down a whole lot and he realized he had come to rely on your craftsmanship and also your advice. I think that you gave him a boy also contributed, me and Bela only have him one each, but soooo many daughters."

Ah, now she understood. Perhaps it could be a turning point, the start of a real consensual partnership?

The very thought infuriated Astrid. What, did he think she'd ignore all that happened because of a few tender gestures? That it was all water under the bridge? Hell, the fact that he even thought that his change of attitude somehow made everything better made Astrid rage even more at his sheer entitlement! Oh no, she would never forgive this man for what he did to her, for arbitrary and irresponsible he was with his power.

And so it started slowly as Astrid used the vices of the man against him. She worked tirelessly to make the best, strongest and tastiest alcohol, all around the tastes of her dear husband. Then it was just a matter of keeping his cup full at all time, something she either did herself or instructed the slaves to do. He'd get what's coming to him.

Saga of Astrid - Year 3 Day 61

With the birth of her children, Astrid's focus switched from business more toward pediatrics. Stuff like education, health and the likes. It was little things really, wooden blocks with letters on them, she also experimented with paper making since papyrus was exclusive from Egypt and pretty damn expensive to import in volume. It was all chemistry after all, though again she struggled in identifying what plant and what minerals had what elements, recognizing them in the practical sense from all her theoretical knowledge.

One thing that proved to be major was actually another measurement: Time. She had this trouble with her workers before, how time was always so subjective to a people without watches. A timepiece was unfortunately outside of her abilities, but she knew astronomy. And so, she had a great stone sun dial made and placed in the middle of the town. From then on, there would be no excuse: Time was now measured! Workers would not be late for work and kids not be late for their lessons anymore. At least during sunny days.

Her other plan also progressed nicely. The more days went by, the more Vilkas was getting drunk on his own achievements and more literally on Astrid's alcohol. Every new village conquered was a reason for a feast and every feast was a reason to get blackout drunk, not that he needed a reason to do so. And of course every day he spent wasted by the previous night was a day with his fiefdom's affairs were delegated to Astrid as he became irritable and paranoid that his brothers, that maybe his very own eldest son might want to take power from him. But Astrid? She had become so meek, so submissive, always reassuring him he made the right choices, never talking back to him when he asked her to fill his cup again.

These responsibilities she gladly took to herself. Vilkas was consolidating a little kingdom on Sardinia, by the end of the decade he'd probably have conquered it all. With his victories however, he did nothing. Making the local lords swear loyalty while giving lands to his brothers to keep them away and busy or close and under watch. He was good at gaining land, at keeping land, but what did he do with this land?

Astrid had roads built, granaries, a mint, prevented the lords from building tolls at every internal borders so commerce may flow freely, also doing her best so this basic health care she had established could serve the whole island rather than just their town. All of these things however she did strategically, making sure the towns deemed loyal were the ones who had granaries and even then, those chosen would not have walls, just in case they got any rebellious intentions. The idea was simple: Interdependence. Make it so people had more to lose if they started killing each other again than if they went along with what she was building.

Her paramount work during this year was the census. Amatro the priest helped her greatly in this endeavor as he went around with an armed escort. This was because the census did not only record the amount of people, but also their belongings, the division of land and so forth. It was obvious what was coming: Taxation.

TL;DR
-Astrid survives childbirth thanks to the experts brought in to help her, afterwards she decides to pay them to stay as to make a basic form of health care and nurture medicine on the island.
-Chief Vilkas grows more fond of her, but she blames him for almost dying in childbirth and decides to play on his vices to have her revenge.
-She begins working on making something resembling paper since papyrus is exclusive to Egypt.
-Chief Vilkas is manipulated in leaving more and more management to Astrid who uses this to make small improvements, building sun dials for time keeping, centralized granaries and conducting a census in preparation to try and make a tax system.
I think we're good to move on to the next phase.
@TruckKun Uh, my knowledge only comes from stuff like EU4 so its not like I have the knowledge of the gods on that subject but isn't a month a bit quick for a whole galley?

I just asked the AI of course, but apparently a small vessel could take an entire season while a bigger ship could be the work of years. I just think you might want to space out the time especially since like you said, they never built a ship like this before so for the first one no one would really know what they're doing?
