Ranna was in the field pulling weeds away from the crops that were doing well at almost three weeks old. Her hands were caked with dirt and grime. They had calluses on them and they were bleeding in some places. She looked up as she started to feel the drops start falling. It was raining. This was only the second time since she had been here that it had rained. She smiled and looked up at the sky. She stood up slowly and stretched her limbs out. Laughing and enjoying the cool breeze that came with it. Ranna spun in circles catching raindrops on her face and giggling. She saw Zach playing with the kids. She wished he would tell her what was on his mind. The only thing she could get from him was that he liked the doctor's assistant but that she wasn't interested in a relationship. Or his other go to topic was going home.
Kyle and Ranna had gotten into a comfortable if not torturous routine. Eat, talk, work, eat, talk, tease each other senseless then drift into a complex realm of sleep plagued by sexual dreams that made them both crazy.
Zach and Ranna had been practicing their powers combined like they used to do as kids. She had Kyle and Zach practice theirs together too. She went out with Kyle whenever there were monsters getting closer to the city. Zach followed once and so he had started going too. It was actually good practice for the three of them to fight as a team. Plus by the time they were done Zach and Kyle would have teamed up to tease Ranna and make her crazy like only family can.
