De'kae has an odd look about her, like she's thinking of something confusing or frightening. She's a skinny girl with green, scaled skin, standing at a humble 5'2. Her clothes are scraggly and dirty, and she walks with a slight limp that favors her left leg.

Background: Among lizardfolk, to be born with a deformity is to be touched by a curse. Ever since she was a girl De'kae was an outcast, and she has always found solace among the plants and animals. De'kae is a self taught druid, or rather, she was taught only by the forests, mountains, and valleys. No schools, books, tomes or recipes.

Eventually, she found herself connecting to the world of the fae, a wild, mystical place. Though she daren't disturb it with her own presence, she could coax creatures from their homes with greater and greater proficiency.

Rumors spread that a cursed witch lived in the woods, and in a way, there was. A hunting party of the nearby kingdom was gathered to hunt her down. At first she reacted with fear, and did her hardest to escape. As they closed in on her, she lashed out with her abilities and found it quite easy to kill these hunters and huntresses. De'kae relaxed and restrained herself, frightening the remaining majority out of her woods. Instead of a massacare and a threat, she began a cautionary tale and a local legend, and was left alone. When heroes returned later to flush her out, she had already left and gone undercover again.

De'kae liked this feeling of power, though. And she liked serving a little vengeance upon those who had Othered her. Finally De'kae entered the fae wild and lived there for a few short years. She helped it creep into the mortal realm, opening portals and rifts in woods to bring wonder, joy, mystery and danger to the short lives of mortals. De'kae is an adventurer herself, though she only goes where nature allows her too, and disturbs no sacred grounds.

All of this 'poking holes in reality because she likes plants so much' business got the attention of a certain demon lord. Having suffered in the past at the hands of misinformed 'heroes', and having an altruistic heart, De'kae was pleased to join.

Skills and Abilities: Affinity with Plants and Animals: Kay can communicate with animals, creatures, and monsters. Any animal that wouldn't be able to speak otherwise, she can create a mental and spiritual connection with. Even plants can be spoken with.

Botantical and Zoological Knowledge: Because of the above skill and her experience with the natural world, De'kae knows the name and function of every plant, magical and mundane, in the mortal realm.

Fae Connection: Has a spiritual connection with the unknowable realm of life and madness. Can detect portals and rifts.

Alchemist: Knows how to make all sorts of useful potions and dangerous poisons. De'kae herself is naturally immune to the negative effects of most poisons.

Life Link: Any creature she has an affinity with can be bound to her will, forcing them to do as she pleases. She doesn't like doing this, but she can if she must. Doing so means she has total control over creatures, but any damage done to them hurts her. She can only do this with an animal that trusts her and is willing, but the result is an unbreakable bond. De'kae has learned a variety of methods to earn an animal's loyalty, but she prefers not to take this final, ultimate step.

Quips: Doesn't like the Guiding Lady and her weird attempts to throw off the natural order of things. Especially since, inevitably, there will be another great war and another Demon Lord will just take the last one's place. Bringing these unnatural humans into the eco-system annoys her greatly.

Actually pretty nice, if odd and under-socialized. Really, she's always liked the idea of big heroes and the power of friendship, but not with this whole weird Guidance crap going on in the background. Especially for a cause that, fundamentally, makes no sense. There's nothing heroic about it, just killing Demons because their Demons, as far as she can tell.

The sickness that plagues the earth.

Despite all of this grandiose title, Sebastian is not always this aloof, cynical, cold-blooded(figuratively and in a literal sense) harbinger of plague and the avatar of pestilence he is today.

Oh no, quite the contrary, Before turning heel and serving the Demon Lord Ahriman's legion. He was a workaholic middle-aged corporate dude who didn't ask to be reincarnated into another world. He was once a mere human. A lesser isekai protagonist who got the short end of the stick.

A naive, optimistic, caring spell caster that is a part and supports a 'mid-tier' hero's band of adventurers. He was their designated healer and the hardest worker in that party. Although He does his job so well, Sebastian barely gets any praise for his efforts. often belittled by his party members in their adventures.

Sebastian is a natural man of talent when it comes to healing arts, potion concoction, and aiding his comrades. So much so, that he is the only reason that his 'reckless' party hasn't entered Death's door just yet.

Well ...until that fateful day when he and his cocky party members bit more than they can chew by delving into the Viper god's temple, facing the Snake Deity Atziri herself, and got completely annihilated for being 'idiots' for rushing in trying to do their flashy heroic moves on the Snake God whose way above their adventurer's paygrade as Sebastian would put it in his final moments.

Most of them barely escaped with their heads attached, but Sebastian was not so fortunate and was the sacrificial bait in doing so.

He was killed and was reincarnated as a prisoner, serving the Snake god and the snake people of the temple. Even being reincarnated as a part reptilian/ part human, Sebastian's work ethic didn't falter, he work as hard as he was in his past life as a human healer.

To his surprise, the basilisk tribe was quite accommodating of their kin and his talents were much appreciated here than he was in that jerk of a Hero's party.

As the years, decades go by, Sebastian makes his way up the corporate ladder and makes it up to the higher ranks in the snake hierarchy.

The viper queen herself calls upon Sebastian for his unfaltering dedication, where his talents are recognized, promoting him into her most trusted general, bestowing him with the highest power of their snake overlord.

from there, Sebastian's view of this world changed. he became a heartless machine, vengeful, rejecting his humanity due to his previous experience siding with humans. turning him into a cold-blooded, slithering, devotee and emissary for the Snake-god with zero empathy for the human race whatsoever.

As a sign of good faith and allegiance to the demon lords, The Viper Queen sends a recommendation letter to Lord Ahriman, entrusting Sebastian to work under his jurisdiction in the fight against those 'otherworldly heroes'

Skills and Abilities:
What Sebastian lacks in physical strength and frail body makes up for his ability to cast powerful venomous poison spells, inciting a plague that can wipe an entire town from his horrific experiments.

Sebastian possesses snake-like features such as molting his skin to regenerate, night vision to see in the dark, fangs that can pierce through skin, and can summon a variety of snakes at his whim. He can also turn his skin into scales, toughening his exterior against most blunt attacks.

His eyes are his greatest features, staring through them for a long period of time can petrify a man to his doom.

He is quite knowledgeable in all sorts of medicine, as well as many forms of toxins for any occasion, and other high-tier alchemy due to his previous life as a healer/alchemist.

Quips:
Sebastian is a workaholic and a shut-in. spending most of his time indoors, experimenting god knows what toxins he can think off inside his laboratory. He is rarely seen in the outside world unless needed or call upon by his superiors.

A germaphobe when it comes to his surroundings and barely socializes with others, he is often depicted as an emotionless person. a hard face to read by. A genuine kuudere.

So, I don’t wish to drag out this discussion anymore than necessary and fill up the thread with my rambling. I will ask one final question to end it, it may be an obvious question, but here goes:

Will this RP allow Average Joe and Thor PCs to mix?

Yes. But in general the stronger your character, the stronger I expect you to accordingly think of the consequences, and also the more i'll put them under scrutiny.

Random question. What happens to heros once they save the day in this universe. Are they sent back home or is there a whole flock of retired heros in the land.

Watsonian Answer: The greatest heroes of the land often have very conflicting accounts following their greatest exploits. This is further complicated by the exacerbations between eyewitness accounts, memoirs, and a paucity of second or third-perspective historical documents pertaining to them as people prior to their exploits, which further makes it more and more difficult to concretely say what happened to any hero in general.

Doylist Answer: They tend to get sent home, but due to some loopholes with how soul trapping and binding work, it's common for them to come back as a reincarnated avatar some years down the line - typically when the original hero has died.

So if I can catch the power-scaling discussion in the thick of it, i'm gonna go ahead and bring up a point that I haven't really seen touched upon, but i'd like to reiterate in a hinted-at point in the introductory post:

Power scaling works both ways.

What I mean by this is that making the most omnipresent, powerful character isn't necessarily always even the best course of action. Making a demigod that will blow up everything with the snap of a finger is bound to cause a lot of attention. Being the God of the Lyches and having an army of undead is great and all, but use too much force, and you'll make yourself a big target. Make yourself a big target, and now congratulations, you turned killing an unassuming teenager into getting a seventeen nation coalition on your target because now there's an angry Evil Wizard out on the loose who's going around blowing up villages and Lord Ahriman's cover all willy-nilly. And that just won't do.

Now, this isn't to say that you shouldn't make powerful characters. It's me saying that you should consider other approaches, and that you should consider the fact that - in general - the more powerful you are, the more you get noticed. The more powerful you seemingly are, the more people talk. The more people talk, the more attention is painted onto you, and the more support you unintentionally give to Protagonist-kun. The more support you give him, the harder your job gets. Blending in, seeming innocuous, and overall getting rid of the Isekai Protag before anyone knows they're a big deal is often a far better way to go about it than to go all Rick Astley-era World Wrestling Foundation on their ass.

Also in a way, the machinations of Her Guidance^TM - if it wasn't clear - oftentimes makes it such that a well-laid plan is far more valuable than any display of superhuman strength or eldritch magic. In this way, sometimes it's actually more of an advantage to just be a regular anybody, since your average dude on the street is way less likely to be seen as "The Agent of the Demon Lord" than, say...some living demigoddess or an Anubis-sorcerer.

So please, use some discretion. Sometimes, having a character who's actually a lot weaker in power makes them likewise a far less susceptible target, which is what you may end up wanting in a lot of cases.

Woah woah woah… time out for a sec, I gotta confirm something.

Is this an OP PC cast kind of RP?

Not necessarily.

I intended for it to be sort of this analogy: "You don't need shoes to run, but they sure help."

Being a very powerful, strong, fucking overpowered being will sure get Lord Ahriman's attention, but that's not why you're his favorite. You're here because you know your shit. You're here because you know about Her Guidance (read: General isekai plots/tropes given narrative life), and most of all: Because you're smarter than that.

So no, being this pseudo-god isn't a prerequisite. It's showing that you're a cut above the usual dumb muscle of an isekai plot and showing that you at least know how to take initiative. You can be a Super Demon Princess who can blow up the universe, and it just won't matter if she's too oblivious to know that Her Guidance just won't allow that, because to Her, the Hero has to go in and swoop down and save the day and get the girl(s). That's not going to help much here. What will help is being able to know the signs in the sky, and know how to roll with them.

A medieval farmgirl who has nothing but a rake and a shovel who's cunning enough to know that Super Isekai Hero will want Harem Sidekick can see that opportunity and start leading him off-track accordingly is way more valuable to Lord Ahriman than a Starfish God who can turn the universe into Grape Jelly but then get killed by the Power of Friendship the next hour.

Appearance: In her truest unadulterated form, Teratoma - like the rest of her species - can be visually described as a mass of pulsating red flesh, able to shape and form appendages such as tentacles, horns, a mouth full of teeth, and other organic features at will. However, she has a favorite humanoid facade in the form of a young girl with dark green hair and leaf green eyes, standing at about 130cm (4'3") tall. She never wears actual clothes as she can simply form imitations of them, such as the 'sundress' of her human form.

Background: The product of one human alchemist's hubris, Terra is an eldritch abomination, one of the children of a cosmic horror only known as "The Mother of a Thousand Young". Said alchemist, wanting to possess a biologically perfect lifeform to further his research into the Elixir of Immortality, dabbled into the occult, his ambitions unfettered by such petty things such as morality and wisdom. After years of study and pouring countless fortune to fund numerous excavation projects, he finally found it, an ancient tome of such eldritch magic that reading it alone could send one spiraling into madness. However, he was determined, immortality shall be his!

Decades were spent deciphering the tome bit by bit, until at one point, he scraped enough information to enact a ritual that'd summon the perfect lifeform, one that's unshackled by the burdens of the human body, able to alter their biological composition at will, immune to the ravages of old age, and capable of healing through any non-fatal wounds given enough time. Just perfect, if he could bring forth this creature and harness its essence then he too could be immortal, him and the rest of humanity once he shares this gift to others. No more shall mankind be shackled by a fleeting existence.

The ritual went forth and he... succeeded. There it was, right in front of him, the perfect lifeform-

-and the first thing this creature did to repay her summoner was to assimilate him, now he was one with her, becoming immortal just as he wished.

The ritual itself was so foul and just plain wrong that it attracted the attention of both the Demon Lord and the Goddess of Light, but fortunately for the creature, the forces belonging to the former found her first and decided to take the lost critter in, whereas the latter would've simply struck her down in the name of their so-called holy goddess.

The Demons named her "Teratoma", and in exchange for a family and home, she pledged her loyalty to Lord Ahriman and Sheol. By her many tentacles, she would vanquish all those who stood against Him, no matter who they are, church, heroes, soldiers. But no one said it's wrong to have a little bit of fun while doing so~

Skills and Abilities: Teratoma is an amorphous organic entity that possesses nigh-perfect control of her own metabolism. In practice, she's able to morph, shape, and sculpt her body at will, forming new appendages and organs simply by willing them. The application of this trait is practically only limited by her own creativity. Furthermore, by consuming the biomass of other creatures or individuals, she'll be able to mimic their physical features perfectly, although this is only limited to said physical features, excluding intangible things such as magical boons, personality, and memories.

She possesses biological immortality, able to advance or reverse her biological age at will, and as long as her 'core' stays intact, able to regenerate from all manner of wounds given enough time. However, destroying said core will kill her off for good.

She can pretty much absorb any organic material as sustenance, even if they're otherwise harmful to the common man such as poison and rotten material. Assimilated material can be used to hasten her regeneration among other things. While she needs to eat and rest, she doesn't need to breath.

Physical blows inflicted upon her by a non-magical weapon will simply be shrugged off as if one is striking a bundle of jelly, however, she's particularly sensitive to cold temperatures so things such as cryomancy is quite effective against her. For example, freezing parts of her body in order to shatter them with a follow-up strike is a valid tactic to employ against her.

She has extraordinary sense of touch and smell, but in return, she possesses poor vision and hearing.

Quips:

• Her faceclaim and main inspiration is Saya from Saya no Uta, sprinkled witth a bit of The Thing movie and Carrion video game.
• Terra is not evil in the traditional sense of being actively malicious, she just has an unorthodox set of morals and standards being an eldritch entity summoned from the depths of the cosmos.
• Terra has an eccentric hobby of collecting the brains of enemies she deems worthy, frustrating, infuriating, or any combination of these. She keeps them in jars of self-made preserving liquid so she can play with them. No one knows for sure where she got this hobby, some said one of the Demons taught her, some said she came up with it herself, who knows.

hello, i am interested in this RP, but i am a little confused about the premise.

is the idea to kill the heroes invading the underworld? Or just convert them to the demon side?

So the premise is that The Demon Lord^TM does a typical anime isekai premise and decides the world need some smacking around. Cue anime protagonst who gets summoned to this fantasy world and gets told to go save it with the power of plot armor.

Demon Lord is smarter than that. He's getting together a group of badasses whose job it is to go find out said anime protagonists and keep them from messing everything up. How you go about doing that is up to you, just as long as it gets done.

Basically, what @Guy0fV4lor and @Dead Cruiser said.

TL;DR You're apart of Anti-Isekai Action and you gotta go fight plot armor by being genre savvy.

Now when it would come to the Knights of Valance, that would be the same group my holy knight would be from-- yeah? Or are there other sects?

Further-- how high up would Full-On Holy Knights be? Would they have things like the well known dnd-type 'lay on hands' healing and 'smite' and the like? How much of the non-heroic Clergy and holy warriors actually have magical abilities?

Up to you on whether or not they're from the Knights of Valance. If they're from the same Order (which is its own structural can of worms to get into), then the two would be at least related. I'd flesh that out more with @LadyAnnaLee if you two want to write something together on that.

Now, in terms of "holiness factor", there's two ways to answer this.

From the perspective of fantasy anime knights, I would say that having magical training as part of their core curriculum, much like how litanies are the core of most clergymen as just part of their initiation. Their magical prowess would likewise be rather limited, but it's still prowess, nonetheless.

From the perspective of any historical analysis about knights, templars, and crusades, most of the members would be glory-chasing frauds who were just looking for an easy excuse to go pillage some holy relics and maybe burn down a couple of villages.

Which perspective you want to take for your character's order? Up to you.

Also I'm trying to think of things that would draw Lord Ahrimen's attention, but am drawing a huge blank. Would you mind sharing some examples? Please and thank you!

Just off the top of my head, I would think that something that might catch his immediate attention - at minimum - might be that one of the initiates of the Knights of Valance now both has a Demonic familiar whispering in their ear, and now also has begun doubting the order she practically grew up in. Now, that alone I don't think would earn much from him - his attention, definitely, but I don't think he'd scoop her up just for having a few doubts either - but if, say, Katrina begun seriously deviating from the Knights in open defiance, then he would definitely take a keener interest.

Going off of that, i'd think that her coming into direct conflict with the Knights of Valance would be sort of inevitable: I don't think that it's something that they would take lightly to her simply up and leaving due to having sudden doubts. But if she kept to her guts and openly defied their pleas - or threats - to return to them, then that might prompt the attention of Ahriman more directly.

That's just an example I thought up, but something similar to that sort of premise might work out.
