Current I am sort of back? I'll be popping on when I have time but replies may not be a thing. I'm hoping things will settle near the end of this week.

I'm moving across country next week, so you won't hear from me for a bit. I expect to be back on the 24th.

18+: For maturity and also for more adult themes.

MxM: This is my jam. I rarely deviate from it.

Casual to Advanced: My typical posts can run around 300-500 words, sometimes less if less is needed. My typical intro posts can run around 500-1,200 words. I expect the minimum from you is 3 paragraphs.

Creativity and willingness to speak OOC. I do have a discord for OOC chat if you prefer. I do love building worlds and things. It's kind of my favorite part of RPs. But I also don't really like being the driver for everything. So, please bring along your imagination and let's get freaky.

PMs only for RP.

DO NOT RESPOND TO THREAD PM ME

The tale of beauty and beast is a merchant coming home but stops at the old castle during bad weather. He discovers the beast (or beast discovers him...) and the merchant makes a deal with the beast to save his life. He promises one of his daughters to the beast. The beast agrees and lets the old man go.

Unfortunately, the merchant is a rich man in his town. When a hunter travels through town to barter skins for coin, the merchant offers a hefty bid for the head of the beast. But the merchant has to see the head before payment is given. The hunter makes his way to the castle.

I would like to play the hunter.

DO NOT RESPOND TO THREAD PM ME

There are two "peoples" in this world. One of these people are a type of elven fairy. They live deep in the forest; their actual village/town is hidden from the other tribe by various spells and magic. They consider themselves more civilized compared to the other tribe. The elven fairies have what they call "seers" and these people are able to "vision" the future such as future events whether they be good or bad. But this "practice" of magic cannot be done intentionally by the individual. It's almost as if they're granted with these visions by random. The seers are viewed almost on a skeptic level by the rest, especially since recently no visions have been procured and the number of seers have dwindled. There are two seers in the whole of the elven fairy tribe. One of which is my character. The elven fairys are led by a high-standing woman who is quite arrogant and views the other tribe as unworthy. However, there is an "agreement" [rather unspoken than anything] that they will not trespass each others lands.

The other tribe lives near the ocean cliffsides of the land [this is a must]. They are more tribal than the elves and may be more cave-man-like. In my head, I see them living openly with hide huts and decorate themselves with tattoos or paint. They're most prized possessions would be their mount [horse or whatever] and their weapon [club, bow, spear, whatever]. However, since this would be more your creation here, I'll let you have freedom to build what you want. Or we can hash out ideas. The sketch I have so far: they're dark in skin and humor; they burn their dead instead of burying them. They're not afraid of blood and diet is mostly meat. They're human-like. I don't want to be playing opposite minotaurs or similar though. Just FYI.

There is a history of conflict between the two people/tribes. They don't trade with each other. Rather, they rarely cross paths with each other nowadays. However, if the elven tribe has found a stray individual from the other tribe within their lands, they been known to be cruel and torturous before leaving the maimed body near the outskirts of the others land. The same or worse could be said of the other tribe against the elven tribe [up to you]. But, in the present, it has been many years since such an occurrence has happened. So, when paths are crossed, different reactions may take place.

The plot, so far: A young seer is found unconscious on the outskirts of the other tribe's land. He is found with his wings torn off: a mark of rejection from his people. Without his wings, he cannot perform magic. A significant member of the other tribe [leader, son of leader, etc.] discovers him on a patrol or with a hunting party [minor details to me, really]. Now the seer is taken as a curiosity, or prize/trophy, or pet, or whatever. When it is discovered his rejection was a vision of grand proportions [external forces destroying both tribes and everyone dies], even the other tribe laughs in his face. Until the seer and his captor discover the "external force" the seer spoke of: ships with black sails anchoring at the bottom of the cliffs. If the rest of the vision was true, it was only a matter of time before battles started. The seer spoke of both tribes falling but the vision showed the outsiders from the ships destroying the captor's tribe first before felling the elven tribe. The seer is not confident the vision can be thwarted but the captor thinks if the path is changed, the outcome may change. He proposes both tribes working together to get rid of this unknown threat.
Its just about keeping the RP interesting as possible, usually finding that right balance between player freedom and focus to make someone excited to comeback. Also building an RP model that wont end the RP if someone drops. This is why Sandbox RPs usually do so well.

Sometimes that doesn't work. Some players want to be told how to go about things. Sometimes you can't reignite the interest of an RP.

Luck & Timing might play a role in this though. Sometimes its about the when and how an RP is set up and the "perfect who" come around and the life of the RP is ridiculously long.

Also, gonna hit you with a PM here in a minute. Have a Q about your RPs.
There's another reason I don't play in advanced. RPG is not a medium I use to improve my writing, nor it is somewhere that I put a grandiose amount of effort into my writing. It's my escape from more demanding work, a place where I can just write without thinking too much about it.

Something I started recently due to my other writings getting a little too stressful.
@Dread The best one that lived for years that I was apart of was more communal than having 1 GM. While the GM held the mysteries and shit, the plot, world and characters were developed by everyone so everyone had "a say" in the RP. Funny thing is, it was only 3 of us because the original had like 15 players then boiled down and in the end there was the trio. Great fun. So maybe the size is a factor in the life of the RP. The only reason it died was because I left/stopped coming to RPG. Now that I'm back, the other two seem to have been gone for some time. I don't know if we'll ever bring it back to life.
