Additional Appearance Details: Wearing her head protector as a belt, Shinmyōko stands at 5'2 and weighs a bit above average for her height.

History: Born, raised, and trained in Kirigakure, Shinmyōko had a lot of trouble in her earlier years. Always having been a bit timid, she was often protected by her parents and eventually it came to become something of a weakness. Despite her efforts she always found the use of jutsu a difficult task, especially ninjutsu. Still with rigorous training and discipline, as despite being timid she was quite responsible, she managed to learn even some of the more advanced jutsu of her clan. She however, did not prefer these techniques and only learned them to please her family and her clan. So, as she grew up, becoming a genin worthy of the chuunin exams, she found a passion of her own, though she kept it a secret.

Eventually, when the exams began and reached the arena, her style was revealed. Taijutsu augmented by her clan's powerful Kekkei Tōta, better known as nintaijutsu, or in her case kekkei nintaijutsu. Actually failing her first exams, but impressing her father and mother alike, they helped her train harder and helped her begin to blossom as a person as well, to become more than the timid little girl that people saw on the outside. Coming of age was hard for her, others made fun of her --particularly the more well-endowed girls-- for her lacking physique, and her confidence lowered.

However, when it again came to the exams and she was matched against one of them, they soon found out who was superior. Her match began in silence, the two kunoichi stalking each other with narrowed eyes. Shinmyōko just kept eye contact until her opponent finally rushed her, preforming handseals and sending an eruption of flame in her direction. There were only moments to spare, and in those moments she burst through the flames, unhindered by their raging heat, and struck the girl with 6 successive strikes, fists augmented by cold and hot alike, driving her away in one final strike where she slammed into the wall with great force. The girl had to be carried off, but she was merely unconscious and her wounds would not be severe, despite her strong dislike Shinmyōko had shown restraint and it was this that gained her rank.

From there on her confidence grew, but she was still a bit more quiet spoken and withdrawn then the rest. Something different began to happen though, she as approached by others, she began to make friends. This brought joy into her life and her skills only improved, eventually allowing her to accomplish much in her youth, even elevating her to jounin rank for splendid performance and leadership. She has been a jounin for two years now and would be settling into her position if Kirigakure had not erupted into civil war around the same time she became a jounin.

Personality: Shinmyōko is a bit quiet and reserved, but she is overall a fairly happy woman who either wears a smile or a serious expression. She is often seen to be somewhat happy, with a subtle smile on her face despite the seriousness in her eyes. She is rather vulnerable emotionally, but she has many friends and is confident in her own abilities. One could call her strong as despite her shortcomings, as she is no genius, she has persevered to better herself over the 26 years of her life. Overall she is a rather determined, loyal, and caring individual with an eye for talent and a strong sense of justice.

Description: A genetically locked Kekkei Tōta attributed to members of the Tsūretsu clan, this advanced elemental affinity allows its users to manipulate Netsuton(_熱遁 'Heat release'), which is created via the combination of wind, water, and fire. This elemental affinity, as its name implies, manipulates thermal energy. This allows even the average inheritor to shift materials, though primarily water, through the three states of matter commonly found on earth--whereas advanced users can create plasma as well. Due to their affinity suffusing their body to an extent, members of the Tsūretsu clan gain a resistance to both heat and the lackthereof, eventually making them highly resistant to ice and fire affinity techniques. It should be noted that Netsuton is offensively weak to the lightning affinity whereas the strongest defense against it is earth affinity chakra.

Description: By manipulating the pressure, and thus heat, systems of air in front of and behind the user, a stream of air is created which follows their movements. This air stream's direction --via temperature and pressure-- alters by the will and bodily movements of the user. This means that if the user is running towards an enemy with this active, it will create a strong breeze to push them at an increased pace towards their target. This gives something of a supplementary attack as the air behind the user is particularly hot and the air in front of them is rather frigid. This technique can speed someone up about as much as 1-2 times.

Weakness: While this technique is in use no techniques above C rank can be activated due to the focus required. The chakra cost for this technique is moderate, but constant meaning the longer it is active the more chakra is taken to supply it. Useable for up to 8 minutes with a cool-down time of 4.

Description: One of two techniques, Gokkan no kōgake uses the inheritor's netsuton to form a gauntlet of intense cold around one, or both, hands. There is a layer of protective chakra around the hands and forearms to defend from the possibility of frostbite or the like. The cold is intense enough to cause burnsor intense damage to exposed tissues. This thus augments the user's hits with either a cold wave upon contact, or it simply causes increased damage. Articles of clothing or armor can and likely will be damaged by this technique. The air around the technique can be seen to ripple with a light bluish glow but has no otherwise telltale signs.

Weakness: Can only be maintained for a maximum of 2 minutes. Useable for up to 6 strikes after which the jutsu will disperse in a wave of chill. Weak to fire affinity techniques, but also good at serving as a slight defense against them. Takes a set amount of chakra and then remains active for that amount of time. Description: One of two techniques, Yakitsuku kōgake uses the inheritor's netsuton to form a gauntlet of intense heat around one, or both, hands. There is a layer of protective chakra around the hands and forearms to defend from the dangerous heat. The air around the technique can be seen to ripple with a reddish glow but has no otherwise telltale signs. The heat is strong enough to cause 2nd or 3rd degree burns on contact, but if the hand is held on an opponent it can carbonize the flesh due to the increased focus of doing this. The user can fire off up to 2 heat-waves which can only cause 1st degree burns but also serve as a buffering wind. Materials that are more conducive to heat will be more easily damaged by this technique.

Weakness: Can only be maintained for a maximum of 2 minutes. Useable for up to 6 strikes after which the jutsu will disperse in a wave of heat. Weak to ice, water, and lightning affinity techniques, but serves as a slight defense against water and ice. Takes a set amount of chakra and then remains active for that amount of time. Cannot be used without access to her arms/hands.

Name of Technique: Netsuton: Kao no Hayate(_{熱遁: 顔の疾風} 'Heat Release: Visage tempest').
Type of Jutsu: Kekkei Nintaijutsu.

Description: By exuding physicalized Netsuton chakra, the user programs it with the jutsu's 10 handseals after which the chakra forms a cloak of heat/cold potential with a similar shape to the kyuubi's 1-tail cloak. This cloak shields the user from both intense hot and cold thus allowing them to charge right through most non-piercing water, ice, or fire techniques. All strikes become augmented with both hot and cold as first a wave of heat is sent off followed by a wave of more intense cold. The heat can nearly cause 1st degree burns, but it is the cold that is dangerous as the heat prepares the body for more of itself only for it to be struck with what amounts to a gaseous wave of ice, or rather frigid air. This can actually freeze clothing completely and cause it to shatter or melt if heat or movement occurs. This cold, if continued exposure is allowed, will cause frostbite and then severe frostbite if one is not careful. Coming into direct physical contact with the cloak causes overexposure within a space of 6 seconds. Overexposure is when the cells are exposed to near simultaneous intense heat and cold which causes them to lose their ability to reproduce, and increases the rate that the exposed cells die at. This effect however does not spread, but should an entire limb be enveloped within the cloak's chakra it should simply be amputated due to the high probability of chakra poisoning. The user's speed is amplified similarly to Natsu·fuyu no tensō.

Weakness: This technique is incredibly weak against lightning and will only last for up to 4 minutes max with 1 use per battle per half a day. This technique takes about 2/3rds of her chakra stores despite the short amount of time that it lasts. This technique, after it falls, stops the user from utilizing techniques above D rank for 1-2 minutes. Causes immense physical strain, thus after its deactivation the user's nerves are incredibly sensitive to stimuli, particularly through the sense of touch. Decreased agility, flexibility, and strength after use. No other jutsu can be activated during its use.

Name of Technique: Netsuton: Taiki no sai kōsei(_{熱遁: 大気の再校正} 'Heat Release: Atmospheric re-calibration').

Description: This technique is executed by pushing Netsuton chakra from the body and into an amorphous cloud of moisture or by spreading this moisture out over a radius. Once this is done the user can apply their advanced shape manipulation to the cloud/area allowing it to shift shape, attack, defend, at their whim. 6 seconds of contact with this chakra causes overexposure, as explained in the previous technique.

Weakness: This technique requires essentially all of the user's chakra besides the base amount needed to think correctly, remain conscious, and use for limited dodging and the guiding of their now externalized chakra. This technique remains active for 5 minutes after which the user is too drained to move. Her lower mastery of this technique makes it less powerful and disallows her from creating complex pressure/heat patterns and shapes from and within the cloud.

Other Appearance Details:Soria's eyes are a light soft almost navy green, likened to gray somewhat often, and described as serene and expressive. He stands at the height of 5'10 with a fairly lean muscular build and a toned weight suitable to one fit for his height.

Personality: By the guiding hands of nature and fate's subtle chorus he has come to be as he is now, a man of understanding, calm, and rationale. Unswayed by the seductions of darker forces Soria has, for the moment, decided to tread quite purely through the path of light. With a kindness gilding his heart and a serenity dwelling in his emerald eyes he moves through life, assisting those who might need it, and trudging through the obstacles presented him by nature's hand. In essence he is much like his element of habit. Roots strong enough to pierce and weed their way through stone, conquering all opposition; branches ambitious enough to reach into the sky and grasp at all in their breadth; and leaves expansive enough to shade his loved ones, those whom he cares deeply and would die for. Yet, there is one aspect to his nature that is rather disharmonic to the rest, and this is the seed of anger and hatred bottled deep in his core. With so many of his dearest friends and family gone -brothers slaughtered by an unknown foe, father died at the hands of who knows, and mother who met an end from the birth of his little sister- it would be difficult to be unaffected. In this way, deep beneath the surface of his calm is a beast so horrible that it might devour him whole if left unchecked. However, this anger and intense hatred is saved only for those who provoke him or are a true threat to all that he loves, for he is not one easily manipulated, and he is far from naive. So, in the end, it is only time that will reveal the finality of his existence. Time and the sway of nature over his being, and a powerful sway it is.

History:
Soria is an individual who has been tested ever so often in his life with each successive trial being more difficult than the next, and each trumped respectively. Born to a family already with 2 siblings, Soria grew up the baby brother under his elder siblings Kentari and Kishibu. Often made fun of by his brothers for his love of nature, he was the most prominent in adapting as his Kekkei genkai took root at an accelerated rate to his brothers. Being rather diminutive in his size as a youth he did not inspire much but more ridicule as he and his brothers grew and shifted their competitions to more meaningful areas. They began experimenting in the areas of ninjutsu, tutored mostly by their father, except for Soria. Having grown tired and angry at the ridicule he received from his brothers, he would often go to his mother's garden. His dearest mother, Reisei Tetsukuzu, would comfort him, her youngest and dearest child, for many years and teach him her ways and skills, skills that she had not even taught Kishibu, the eldest among them.

His tutelage under Reisei continued even through the months of her 4th pregnancy, the one that would bear her the most precious of her children: Haruka, her only daughter. Feeling incredibly happy at his realization, Soria ran to the garden a few days after, only to be met by his father, Moriyama Senju, with a sad look and words of sympathy. Soria had never seen his daddy so distraught. Yet, even while he was told of the tragedy, of his mother's death, he noticed that neither of his elder siblings were present. Even as tears ran down his cheeks, he could not help but feel the betrayal of their absence. This was the first seed of anger in his heart. Growing ever faster he tended, and still does to this day, the garden of his deceased mother, using the abilities granted him by his heritage and her kind lessons to assure its survival. The days passed and yet still his brothers did not return, even his father had left him now, traveling alone, unable to bear the memories of his dead wife's home. It hurt and the seeds of betrayal sprouted anew, and he further withdrew into himself. His only solace was his garden, and the small child that had been left in his care, for not even her father would watch over the child who had killed his beloved. For a time Soria had thought the same, but, seeing the neediness and loneliness in the baby's tiny eyes he understood he could not let her die.

Years passed and she continued to grow. He could no longer manage her, restrict her, and protect her on his own, or so he felt. He sent out a message, she needed her family, they would have to come back. For the first time, his relatives heeded his call and so came his brothers. His father never arrived and Soria took him for a traitor and a coward. Kentari, the kinder of his elder brothers, began to take a liking to their little sister, playing with her often and teaching her small and harmless jutsu. Afterall she did have the talent.

It was in this time when Soria bid his brothers ado and departed their home, his home, for the first time. The world was in turmoil, war, and chaos. Yet in the horrible symphony of death and destruction he found a light, another garden, and a girl. Her name was Shinsei, and she was a girl who had been given a heinous blessing disguised in the face of a curse, the power over life and death. She was a sad girl and he couldn't help himself, he approached her, and guided her deadly hands with no fear of her power. He helped her tend to the garden, with a smile, and he took a liking to her. A liking that he decided to mention too late. Bandits attacked the compound and he was drawn into the fray. In an attempt to assure Shinsei's safety he threw down a bomb of smoke and quickly pulled himself and the bandits beneath the earth, the strength of his vines far surpassing their own human limits. As the smoke cleared, they were all gone.

War and pain,
battles and strain,
loss and gain,
again and again.

It all went on, the years that followed were some of his hardest. They were the last years of his brother's lives, and the ending of his tragedies. After a time serving under his father Moriyama, he beseeched the man that he be allowed leave. He had to make sure that his mother's home had gone unharmed. Finally allowed to go he set off, only to arrive far too late. For while he had been gone dealing with the scuffles of clans and village skirmishes, his closest family members had been slaughtered....

The blood of his kin, of both his brothers, soaked the compound and he found their mangled bodies at the edges of the garden. The flowers now bloomed a crimson, dark in its color, and it was in this moment of tears and anger that he heard a voice, Kentari's voice "k-keep her safe b-brother. We...I, she is special." These were his brother's last words, last words that he would never forget. Yet, as he wept before the fire as it spread, burning at the garden he had done so much to protect and nurture, Haruka pulled at his clothes and extricated him from the inferno as he stared blankly into space. Why was he forced to lose so much? As if to ascertain the hopelessness, they were attacked on their travels back to the Senju compound. Mysterious shinobi and their kunoichi counter parts assailed them, evidently targeting Haruka. Soria was done, he would never again lose another of his loved ones and so at the risk of his life and humanity, he exerted the full extent of his control over the forces naturally present in their surroundings...

The result?

Pandemonium.

Exhausted and bloody, he was dragged, Haruka using whatever little strength she could, towards the closest safe haven she could figure. It was a miracle really, what saved them that was, for out of the forest emerged one final kunoichi: Shinsei. The same girl he had gifted those gloves so many years ago, seven to be exact. It filled him with a familiar sensation and a kind of joy, she had survived, and she had grown up to surpass the sadness he had once seen so strongly in her eyes. Not only that, but as the years continued to pass and the two of them grew closer, his dearest sister, Ruka-chan along side him all the while. Finally marrying, Soria soon received word of his father's state, he had departed this mortal coil, he was the successor.

Taking the message in stride, Soria, Shinsei, and Haruka prepared to depart for Kyokujitsugakure. Alas, on their journey in the dead of night, Haruka disappeared. To this day Soria has been unable to find any trace of her whereabouts, much to his disappointment.

The remainder of his family dead or allegedly kidnapped, Soria and Shinsei continued their trekk to Kyokujitsugakure where he reunited with Ayameko, one of many whom he had served alongside during the 15 year Shinobi War. Explaining his situation to his old comrade, sensei, and friend Soria came to reside in her village and eventually become one of her advisors.

To this day he works alongside her, fostering peace and expanding their nation all whilst living with his wife in his personal haven near the edge of the village—not to mention leading what remain of the Senju.

Mokuton - Shizen no megumare-noroi (木遁 - 自然の恵まれ-呪い 'Wood release - Nature's blessed-curse')

Clan: Senju/Tetsukuzu.

Description: With the forbidden union of Soria's father, Moriyama Senju, and his blessed mother, Reisei Tetsukuzu, this Kekkei genkai was born. With the blood of the Senju giving its life and synchronicity with the natural world and the Tetsukuzu's nature of understanding and connection with their surroundings a new mutation in the Senju genome occurred birthing forth a unique form of the Mokuton. Rather than simply empower the bodies and merge the water and earth affinities, the Shizen no megumare-noroi causes the inheritor's body and genetics to become excessively malleable. In Soria's case, and formerly in the case of Kishibu his now sadly passed on eldest brother, it causes his mokuton nature to quite literally take root in his body. Due to the prolonged interactions with his affinity and his extensive training, his Mokuton has become less just a chakratic affinity and more a part of his being. He is something of a combination of flora and human DNA at this point, though primarily he IS in fact human. This causes Soria to have a much more attuned sense of his surroundings and actually allows him to use both created and natural vegetation to his greater advantage. While he is certainly no sensory ninja, the flora that share a symbiotic bond with his body have allowed him to better understand the forces which keep both human and plant-life around. This has caused him to have an innate understanding of both water and earth as well as a unique appreciation for the sun and its fiery light.

Thus throughout his life his body has become a unique mixture of flora and human allowing him some rather unique traits. First of all Soria, while unable to do so at a notable speed, is capable of absorbing natural energy through the plant life around him. Secondly Soria is capable of passively regenerating with the tax of his chakra and the amount of useable chakra, both natural and otherwise. In the category of a tertiary ability Soria has gained the capability to modify plant DNA on the fly. However, this tertiary capability has required rigorous training and effort for him to master and fully utilize, and, in particular, it is the ability that makes his brand of Mokuton so unique. After all, he rarely uses the 'tree' based mokuton, rather preferring to utilize the surrounding flora to his advantage. This is, in essence, his kekkei genkai, though there is one final detail to express. Simply that it is a double edged sword as his secondary ability essentially means that with every wound he progressively loses more of his humanity, gradually becoming more and more plant-like. A dark secret indeed, one that he has kept to himself above all else, in fact only his siblings knew of the curse, only his siblings...and 3 of them are dead.

He can also utilize this technique to infuse elemental ninjutsu with strength, or to infuse naturally occurring elements with it utilizing the Shizen-kai no zōkyō.

Description: By utilizing Shurei onjin - Shinzui ten no Utsuri, Soria is capable of infusing notably inanimate entities with what amounts to life. This is a rather taxing technique when used in this fashion however, this is not its only use. Generally, Soria uses this technique to amplify both his own mokuton jutsu and surrounding flora for a unique effect. When applied to surrounding flora it will amplify their growth and evolutionary potential greatly and strengthen the defense and structure of the plant(s). This causes the plants within a 6 yard radius, or subjected to his direct or indirect contact to become at least twice as resistant to normal weaknesses, such as fire (C rank resistance). When applied to his mokuton jutsu it amplifies their resistance even further due to their already augmented form via his unique chakra affinities, thus they become more resistant to B rank and below fire jutsu, though they can still be damaged if the jutsu is potent enough. Additionally they gain a natural resistance to being cut causing even steel blades to have trouble cutting through in a single fell swoop.

Weakness: Limited range. Augmenting surrounding flora is more taxing than augmenting his mokuton jutsu. Chakra cost is dependent on how many jutsu are amplified and the rank of said jutsu, or simply by the sheer amount of plant-life surrounding Soria within a 6 yard radius. Augmenting inanimate entities is twice as difficult and takes intense focus.

Simultaneously he will cause plants to cross pollinate despite the type of plant and thus cause them to share or take on processes of their neighbors upon dropping seeds. In essence this technique speeds up the growth cycle of the particular plants and allows Soria to also alter and activate dormant strands of DNA to his own purposes.

Weakness: Despite the processes of the plants being much quicker than normal, the technique still takes time to so greatly modify their nature and purpose. Depending on the complexity of the changes to the given organism, this jutsu will take anywhere from 30 seconds to 5 minutes. This techniques takes a constant, but negligible drain on Soria's chakra.

Description: By first utilizing Shizen niku no dōka, Soria then splits up to two portions of it from his body and purposes the cells with a format almost identical to his own. The cells will propagate and alter their purposes, forming vines of mixed symbiotic cells until they weave together and form up to two clones. This jutsu is unique in that, if coupled with a slight use of Kyōsei to extract cells from another individual, it can create what amounts to an almost exact physical copy of either the user or designated individual. These clones are capable of utilizing all of Soria's jutsu with the exclusion of Shurei onjin - Shinzui ten no Utsuri. The thing that makes these clones so special is they acquire the ability to merge with other flora seamlessly, either to imbue their life force and partial sentience, to hide, or for another purpose, such as traveling between the connections of flora much like Kagerō, though detectable and only with the sacrifice of all other jutsu while in use. Additionally these clones cannot be dispersed, an aspect worked in by Soria's studies of the Moku bunshin no jutsu. Additionally, due to the Mori no ko's strange nature, any damage done to the clone will appear the same as if you had damaged the actual Soria. The only notable difference between Mori no ko and Soria himself is their lack of totally independent sentience and the fact that the chakra system of any given Mori no ko is not nearly as complex as the chakra system of a living being, this is their only derivative and thus they essentially trick all dōjutsu with the sole exclusion of the byakugan. It should be noted that when material from a Mori no ko gets on someone, it can be tracked or tapped into by Soria in much the same was that Kyōsei can be used.

Weakness: The clones are limited to two at any given time, Soria can only create 8 of these, in total, before becoming totally exhausted regardless of his extensive chakra pool and natural energy. While they cannot be dispersed, Mori no ko can be damaged like any other being and can and will become crippled or die from extensive wounds. A single clone takes a whole 20 seconds to fully form and become useable making them especially vulnerable until fully formed.

Description: Soria's best hidden, most advanced, and darkest jutsu, the Genshi-ko no taihai is a well guarded secret. Created through something of an accident and an attempt to vent the seed of hatred in his core, Soria utilized Shizen niku no dōka and the result was this unnaturally jet-black seed. Beginning to grow at a rate far out of Soria's control, the seed parasitically sapped his chakra almost to the point of death, even robbing him of a few years of his life in the process. Having barely managed to cut the flow of the seed, Soria found that its presence latched on to the secret garden of his laboratory and began to drain the life force of the surrounding flora as well. He quickly suppressed and cut its link once more, but not before it had accumulated an absolutely astonishing amount of chakra that he could not risk extracting without danger to his life and those of the surrounding individuals and nature itself.

Bottom-line, the Genshi-ko no taihai is an extreme parasitic life form of unknown intelligence and filled with the blackness of Soria's hate and anger. To keep it as isolated from its surroundings, Soria has actually designed part of his internal body to house the Genshi-ko no taihai safely. This area of his body cuts off the seed from growth and the rest of Soria's body, becoming the literal seed of hate and anger inside of him. Incidentally, Soria can, at the risk of himself, draw upon the massive chakra within the seed by temporarily allowing it to cannibalize on his negative emotions and degrade his life force at an exceptional rate. The only individual who knows anything regarding the Genshi-ko no taihai is his wife, Shinsei, and it should be noted that should he ever have to use this technique and its corresponding evil for longer than even a minute, he would be consumed and the consequences would be impossible to predict.

Weakness: Listed in the jutsu itself. This allows an extremely limited, 30 yard hemisphere negative emotions sensing ability –the ability can only sense very strong killing intent, hatred, and anger.

Name of Weapon or Item: Nisō byōtō(_尼僧病棟 'Priestesses ward').

Description: Appearing to be an implement for melee combat, this weapon is in actuality used for warding off assaults and facilitating jutsu in a rather particular manner. Notably, the four blades at the head of this weapon are capable of detaching from its form and being chakratically controlled due to the item being infused with both the user's chakra and a small collective of spiritual entities. The blades from Nisō byōtō cannot move any further than 4 meters from the staff. The staff itself is the primary conduit, though jutsu can be transferred to each of the detached blades with a slight delay in activation due to them being spiritually linked. The bottom of the staff is capable of extending a 1.5 foot long spike, which can anchor it into the ground. The staff is 4.5 feet tall.

Name of Weapon or Item: Reikon chōchin(_霊魂提灯 'Soul lanterns').

Description: With a daimeter of 3 inches, these small hollow spheres are composed of chakra conductive materials and each contain a cluster of eight hitodama in their center. This causes the spheres to emit a soft glow. This light is capable of purifying negative energies such as emotions, killing intent, or poisons, but it only extends two feet from a given sphere before becoming too faint to have any noticeable effect. These spheres are utilized for storing spirits gathered by Shūrei's kekkei genkai and additionally to expose her own chakra, essentially making them capable of storing jutsu within them. Generally, unless stated otherwise, the [name] will only contained purified chakra, which has a soothing effect on both the mind and body and will slowly heal spiritual, chakratic, or physical wounds over time. Like the blades of Nisō byōtō, these spheres are capable of being telekinetically moved within 8 meters of the user. Shūrei carries 18 of these spheres.

While not frail perse, Shūrei is not more durable, strong, or fast than the average shinobi. If anything she is significantly weaker in all three categories. However, she is exceptionally intelligent and has an intuitive understanding of chakra, and thus jutsu, to a degree that she can decypher most techniques after witnessing them twice. It should be noted that while she has an intuitive understanding of chakra, that she has also studied and experimented with it extensively enough to be considered a master in its workings.

Name of Kekkei Genkai: Jōdo no sasayaki(_{浄土のささやき} 'Whispers of the Pure Land').

Clan: Kōkina.

Description: Turning its inheritor into a spiritual beacon, the Jōdo no sasayaki imparts a less material nature to an individual's being, effectively amplifying their soul's “size,” and “density,” in a manner. As a result their chakra pool is always large and their chakra more spiritually potent than is normal. This causes them to attract errant spirits, such as hitodama, to themselves and take them into a small eight meter field around their person, which often affords them a ghostly, almost celestial glow. This affinity for the pure land gives a Shūrei, as the sole inheritor, a natural ability to detect the emotions of others in addition to their chakra through how their soul interacts with their physical and energetic form. Perhaps most notable of this Kekkei genkai's traits however, is the user's ability to utilize these spirits to mould their elemental chakra together and then utilize ninjutsu, which they would otherwise be incapable of.

*Currently, Shūrei is the first individual to possess this Kekkei genkai due to it being a hybridized bloodline limit created by the pairing of her mother, Kōkina, Kitoku and her father, Taraatsu, Nukumi's Kekkei genkai.

Genso no honshitsu

Translating as the Elemental Essences, the below detail how the combination of elements with yin and yang alter the effects and traits of the given elements when specifically referring to Shūrei's Kekkei genkai. However, when put simply, her elements take on a more literal or spiritual aspect depending on whether she infuses them with yin or yang. What is meant by literal is that the elements become amplified, but simultaneously lose and "symbolic," traits that they would otherwise possess. In the other end are the spiritual elements, which become less related to what we view as their natural state and more a series of concepts, which can be utilized in a variety of ways. It should be noted that while Shūrei is capable of infusing a given element with both affinities, this will more or less just amplify the element from its normal state without altering its normal traits all that much. Yang affinity causes a given element, with few exceptions, to be incapable of being moulded with another affinity.

Raiton(Lightning Release): Normally a manifestation of electrical energies or a magnification of speed, the Raiton element, when influenced by Shūrei's yin affinity becomes capable of binding two usually seperate things together as well as amplifying the speed of other things. This affinity is also related to conduction, allowing Shūrei to send attacks infused with it through conductive materials with greater ease.

On the other end of the spectrum is the Raiton affinity combined with yang, which effectively amplifies its normal effects by increasing the density of plasma contained within a given “beam,” allowing attacks with it to burn through many substances with greater ease. The lightning however loses its conductivity completely becoming unable to travel through other substances aside from transfering its heat energy.

Fuuton(Wind Release): A manifestation of air currents and precision, Fuuton chakra, when influenced by the yin affinity, becomes an amplifier of just that, precision. Additionally anything infused or combined with it gains an incredible cutting power, but loses a great deal of weight. This can greatly reduce the force behind attacks with this affinity within them, but allows them to pierce things with greater ease despite such. Yin influenced Fuuton is also responsible for the aspect of pressure.

When influenced by yang chakra, Fuuton chakra becomes incredibly pressurized, making it volatile, but without decreasing the precision and cutting power imparted to it. This naturally increases the speed at which the chakra moves.

Suiton(Water Release): Fluidity manifested, Suiton chakra's domain is that of versatility and patient change. Abilities including it are capable of wearing away at other substances due to water's tendency for erosion. The chakra can also impart the effected techniques with a flowing quality, which allows things to more easily change course or resist the forces of other variables.

Yang influenced Suiton chakra is one of the few Genso no honshitsu able to blend with its kin, allowing it to become ice or moisture in the air or even to become highly pressurized, which can facilitate a great deal. In this state Suiton chakra is very impressionable, not possessing many strengths of its own, but instead being greatly strengthened by the traits of other affinities.

Doton(Earth Release): Imparting the traits of solidity and durability, yin influence Doton amplifies both the physical state of chakra, but also how compact it is, revealing its ability to influence density. As with many yin influenced affinities, it is not terribly strong on its own, but is incredibly useful when combined with other affinities.

When influenced by yang chakra, Doton chakra becomes excessively difficult to damage in addition to becoming much heavier than normal. This makes it useful for defense, but little else.

Katon(Fire Release): Containing the contradictory concepts of merging and disruption, Katon chakra's yin state is especially capable of tearing things apart or merging them together, making it an exceptional intermediary affinity. Additionally, it can impart heat or cold to things allowing a variety of possibilities.

Katon's yang capabilities on the other hand are practically all destructive in nature as the heat it contains is increase, in addition to how well that heat can transfer into other things. Katon chakra in yang state is another of the few, which can be combined with other affinities.

Onmyōton(Yin-yang Release): Affinities imparted with both yin and yang gain a mixture of their yin and yang traits, but become less specialized overall. This chakra on its own is capable of a myriad of things. One must simply consider non-elemental ninjutsu (and genjutsu for that matter) to understand the possible breadth of its capabilities. Nonetheless, it should be noted that Shūrei's knowledge is the limiter. This is the only affinity that Shūrei can utilize without hitodama. However, while using it without hitodama, all hitodama powered abilities, aside from her Kekkei genkai's base traits, are lowered in power/versatility.

Description: One of the basic techniques tied to the Shūrei's kekkei genkai, Oimawasu no tamashi facilitates the use of practically all of Shūrei's ninjutsu by allowing her to infuse their chakra into errant spirits, such as hitodama, and guide them with said chakra. However,this ability is only fully effective within Shūrei's field wherein she can alter the trajectory of the hitodama, which leave behind trails of potent chakra as they travel. When the hitodama and the energy alloted to them are directed to exit the field Shūrei can assign a single pathwayof movement to a single hitodama or group of hitodama. Each hitodama, or hitodama group is capable of following a seperate path.

Weakness: Limited range of control. The Hitodama/spirits have little effect on their lonesome, though enough of them striking someone can cause physical force or make the moulding of chakra more difficult. Each alteration of direction, including gradual turns rather than sudden angular alterations in trajectory, requires a single handseal. This doesn't sound like much, but it builds up.

Description: The primary radius extending out from her form eight meters, Shūrei's sensory capabilities are strongest here. Within said radius she is capable of detecting people's emotions in addition to her surrounds to a level of detail reminscent of Kagura Shingan(Mind's Eye of the Kagura). This is achieved by way of her ability to both feel and visualize the interactions of transcendent energies with the mortal world, thus allowing her to observe the emotions and energetic movements of those around her with incredible clarity. This manifests itself as a poweful empathetic bond to those to whom she is continually exposed and a weaker one to those she merely passes, though her understanding is only marginally less pronounced in the latter case. As one moves outside of the 8 meter radius the precision of her sensory abilities swiftly declines till she is only capable of detecting individual chakra signatures and soul status. At this point she is incapable of judging emotions or mind state at all, but can tell one's chakra level, their distance from her positon, and their general health via her ability to tell how attached to their chakra the individual's soul is. This ability allows Shūrei to hear the voices of hitodama within 1/3rd of its total range. This gives her a general sense of what is going on within a space of roughly 530 meters. This sense is however not exact, meaning that while she gets a general sense of things, it is not going to be entirely accurate. Additionally, this ability must be tapped into, unlike the rest of the technique which is largely passive.

Weakness: While Shūrei cannot shut this ability off, meaning it will always take up some of her attention, she is capable of toning it down to a more manageable degree. However, due to its intuitive nature, the field will naturally intensify if directed killing intend appears within her field of perception, this is a defense mechanism begotten from her failure to notice the danger to her mother's life.

Additional Appearance Details: Wearing her head protector as a belt, Shinmyōko stands at 5'2 and weighs a bit above average for her height.

History: Born, raised, and trained in Kirigakure, Shinmyōko had a lot of trouble in her earlier years. Always having been a bit timid, she was often protected by her parents and eventually it came to become something of a weakness. Despite her efforts she always found the use of jutsu a difficult task, especially ninjutsu. Still with rigorous training and discipline, as despite being timid she was quite responsible, she managed to learn even some of the more advanced jutsu of her clan. She however, did not prefer these techniques and only learned them to please her family and her clan. So, as she grew up, becoming a genin worthy of the chuunin exams, she found a passion of her own, though she kept it a secret.

Eventually, when the exams began and reached the arena, her style was revealed. Taijutsu augmented by her clan's powerful Kekkei Tōta, better known as nintaijutsu, or in her case kekkei nintaijutsu. Actually failing her first exams, but impressing her father and mother alike, they helped her train harder and helped her begin to blossom as a person as well, to become more than the timid little girl that people saw on the outside. Coming of age was hard for her, others made fun of her --particularly the more well-endowed girls-- for her lacking physique, and her confidence lowered.

However, when it again came to the exams and she was matched against one of them, they soon found out who was superior. Her match began in silence, the two kunoichi stalking each other with narrowed eyes. Shinmyōko just kept eye contact until her opponent finally rushed her, preforming handseals and sending an eruption of flame in her direction. There were only moments to spare, and in those moments she burst through the flames, unhindered by their raging heat, and struck the girl with 6 successive strikes, fists augmented by cold and hot alike, driving her away in one final strike where she slammed into the wall with great force. The girl had to be carried off, but she was merely unconscious and her wounds would not be severe, despite her strong dislike Shinmyōko had shown restraint and it was this that gained her rank.

From there on her confidence grew, but she was still a bit more quiet spoken and withdrawn then the rest. Something different began to happen though, she as approached by others, she began to make friends. This brought joy into her life and her skills only improved, eventually allowing her to accomplish much in her youth, even elevating her to jounin rank for splendid performance and leadership. She has been a jounin for two years now and would be settling into her position if Kirigakure had not erupted into civil war around the same time she became a jounin.

Personality: Shinmyōko is a bit quiet and reserved, but she is overall a fairly happy woman who either wears a smile or a serious expression. She is often seen to be somewhat happy, with a subtle smile on her face despite the seriousness in her eyes. She is rather vulnerable emotionally, but she has many friends and is confident in her own abilities. One could call her strong as despite her shortcomings, as she is no genius, she has persevered to better herself over the 26 years of her life. Overall she is a rather determined, loyal, and caring individual with an eye for talent and a strong sense of justice.

Description: A genetically locked Kekkei Tōta attributed to members of the Tsūretsu clan, this advanced elemental affinity allows its users to manipulate Netsuton(_熱遁 'Heat release'), which is created via the combination of wind, water, and fire. This elemental affinity, as its name implies, manipulates thermal energy. This allows even the average inheritor to shift materials, though primarily water, through the three states of matter commonly found on earth--whereas advanced users can create plasma as well. Due to their affinity suffusing their body to an extent, members of the Tsūretsu clan gain a resistance to both heat and the lackthereof, eventually making them highly resistant to ice and fire affinity techniques. It should be noted that Netsuton is offensively weak to the lightning affinity whereas the strongest defense against it is earth affinity chakra.

Description: By manipulating the pressure, and thus heat, systems of air in front of and behind the user, a stream of air is created which follows their movements. This air stream's direction --via temperature and pressure-- alters by the will and bodily movements of the user. This means that if the user is running towards an enemy with this active, it will create a strong breeze to push them at an increased pace towards their target. This gives something of a supplementary attack as the air behind the user is particularly hot and the air in front of them is rather frigid. This technique can speed someone up about as much as 1-2 times.

Weakness: While this technique is in use no techniques above C rank can be activated due to the focus required. The chakra cost for this technique is moderate, but constant meaning the longer it is active the more chakra is taken to supply it. Useable for up to 8 minutes with a cool-down time of 4.

Description: One of two techniques, Gokkan no kōgake uses the inheritor's netsuton to form a gauntlet of intense cold around one, or both, hands. There is a layer of protective chakra around the hands and forearms to defend from the possibility of frostbite or the like. The cold is intense enough to cause burnsor intense damage to exposed tissues. This thus augments the user's hits with either a cold wave upon contact, or it simply causes increased damage. Articles of clothing or armor can and likely will be damaged by this technique. The air around the technique can be seen to ripple with a light bluish glow but has no otherwise telltale signs.

Weakness: Can only be maintained for a maximum of 2 minutes. Useable for up to 6 strikes after which the jutsu will disperse in a wave of chill. Weak to fire affinity techniques, but also good at serving as a slight defense against them. Takes a set amount of chakra and then remains active for that amount of time. Description: One of two techniques, Yakitsuku kōgake uses the inheritor's netsuton to form a gauntlet of intense heat around one, or both, hands. There is a layer of protective chakra around the hands and forearms to defend from the dangerous heat. The air around the technique can be seen to ripple with a reddish glow but has no otherwise telltale signs. The heat is strong enough to cause 2nd or 3rd degree burns on contact, but if the hand is held on an opponent it can carbonize the flesh due to the increased focus of doing this. The user can fire off up to 2 heat-waves which can only cause 1st degree burns but also serve as a buffering wind. Materials that are more conducive to heat will be more easily damaged by this technique.

Weakness: Can only be maintained for a maximum of 2 minutes. Useable for up to 6 strikes after which the jutsu will disperse in a wave of heat. Weak to ice, water, and lightning affinity techniques, but serves as a slight defense against water and ice. Takes a set amount of chakra and then remains active for that amount of time. Cannot be used without access to her arms/hands.

Name of Technique: Netsuton: Kao no Hayate(_{熱遁: 顔の疾風} 'Heat Release: Visage tempest').

Description: By exuding physicalized Netsuton chakra, the user programs it with the jutsu's 10 handseals after which the chakra forms a cloak of heat/cold potential with a similar shape to the kyuubi's 1-tail cloak. This cloak shields the user from both intense hot and cold thus allowing them to charge right through most non-piercing water, ice, or fire techniques. All strikes become augmented with both hot and cold as first a wave of heat is sent off followed by a wave of more intense cold. The heat can nearly cause 1st degree burns, but it is the cold that is dangerous as the heat prepares the body for more of itself only for it to be struck with what amounts to a gaseous wave of ice, or rather frigid air. This can actually freeze clothing completely and cause it to shatter or melt if heat or movement occurs. This cold, if continued exposure is allowed, will cause frostbite and then severe frostbite if one is not careful. Coming into direct physical contact with the cloak causes overexposure within a space of 6 seconds. Overexposure is when the cells are exposed to near simultaneous intense heat and cold which causes them to lose their ability to reproduce, and increases the rate that the exposed cells die at. This effect however does not spread, but should an entire limb be enveloped within the cloak's chakra it should simply be amputated due to the high probability of chakra poisoning. The user's speed is amplified similarly to Natsu·fuyu no tensō.

Weakness: This technique is incredibly weak against lightning and will only last for up to 4 minutes max with 1 use per battle per half a day. This technique takes about 2/3rds of her chakra stores despite the short amount of time that it lasts. This technique, after it falls, stops the user from utilizing techniques above D rank for 1-2 minutes. Causes immense physical strain, thus after its deactivation the user's nerves are incredibly sensitive to stimuli, particularly through the sense of touch. Decreased agility, flexibility, and strength after use. No other jutsu can be activated during its use.

Once this is done the user can apply their advanced shape manipulation to the cloud/area allowing it to shift shape, attack, defend, at their whim. 6 seconds of contact with this chakra causes overexposure, as explained in the previous technique.

Weakness: This technique requires essentially all of the user's chakra besides the base amount needed to think correctly, remain conscious, and use for limited dodging and the guiding of their now externalized chakra. This technique remains active for 5 minutes after which the user is too drained to move. Her lower mastery of this technique makes it less powerful and disallows her from creating complex pressure/heat patterns and shapes from and within the cloud.

The Mayonaka Clan

Mayonaka.

Country of Origin: Land of Iron.
Hierarchy and Focus:
Focused on the mastery of their sword art, the Shizukana-ryū-ji(Style of the Tranquil Path), the Mayonaka are renowned swordsman both within and beyond the Land of Iron.

Choosing to lead themselves through mastery, the Mayonaka allow only those who have truly mastered their style and who are within their family, to reign over those who might learn their infamous style. This typically results in their being four or so grandmasters and one “Heir,” which seeks the grandmasters for council. The heir is the descendent of the previous heir, their bloodline, in some form or another, leading back to their clan founder.

The current Heir is Mayonaka, Seisui and he is out on a pilgrimage to finetune his art.

History:
A long time has passed since the origins of this clan were lost, no longer do any of the outside world know where the Mayonaka spawned and how the now ancient style was forged into improving perfection. The outsiders do not know, but then they are not meant to, as a clan's history is its own. The Mayonaka clan, founded somewhere in what is now the land of iron, were far from notable before their style's creation. Their 1st master was a simple man, a hunter, living off the land and assisting the people in the few ways he could. Many years passed for him and he gradually grew in his wisdom until one day he was visited by a man. A strange man with a look of majesty, power, and wisdom in his many lively orbs, visited him for a time, asking for simple shelter for a time. Providing it, the foremost master of the yet to be created style gave the man all he needed, as he appeared to be recovering from some strange ailment. The man was weak of body at that time, but the two began to grow close, learning from each other, and the Mayonaka found himself overtaken with the smallest fragments of kinship with the man.

A short time turned to weeks, and weeks turned to months and the man began to speak of things which the Mayonaka could barely understand. He was isolated from the world, knowing little of the arts being created and the politics or intricacies of things. Even as he worked the forge, he found something changing in himself, yet unsure as to what, and when he asked the man there was no reply, just a solemn look. The next day, the man had vanished, no traces left of his presence. This bothered the Mayonaka greatly and eventually he decided it was time to leave his home, he could no longer isolate himself, he was no longer satisfied by the simple wilderness, something in him longed for what he knew not. So he saved his money and then used it to acquire a weapon for while he was no true warrior he was a skilled hunter and he knew that wielding a blade, even of lesser quality, would be useful.

He carried on, traveling slow and learning as much as he could bout his surroundings, the world he had been apart from for so long. It took two years before he saw exactly what he had been looking for, the spark that awakened a new passion in him: He witnessed the dual of two swordsman.

He traveled again, now returning home, changed, knowing what he had to do. So, while he returned he challenged many, defeated by some and winning against others, until his name was known well. So, he changed it for his face was not yet known. He became No-hassan Mayonaka(Emanation of Midnight), a growing legend among swordsman, and then he arrived home. His blade, of lesser quality still, no longer served him, he could not wield it, but he had learned more in his trade of blacksmithing. With money from his fallen adversaries he acquired the best of metals, specific mixtures, and from there he began to work. It was hard, for challenges often braved the long path to reach him in hope of besting the rising legend in combat.

None did.

It took months, and on the last month he was nearly defeated. However, strangely, his opponent decided to forestall their match midway, saying that his opponent could not possibly be serious. The look in the challenger's eyes seemed somehow familiar for they were knowing, wise, and filled with majesty.

That day his blade had come to fruition, and it was the last day it had needed to cool and to harden into perfection. There was time still, two more days to pass before their match was to resume. No-hassan however decided he would no adjust to his blade, no, he would not even touch it.

A trusted friend carrying his blade wrapped in cloth to their field of battle, No-hassan's challenger awaited them, ready, but relaxed. Bowing he finally took the blade and its sheath readying it on his belt and bowing to his opponent. "You are a man of honor, and this day I can assure you that by the end, you will witness my best," something awoke in No-hassan Mayonaka that day, something calm, peaceful: Tranquility.

His hand had been placed against the tsuka of his katana, and his stance shifted. The challenger drew his blade and approached him cautiously, ready to strike at any opening, but No-hassan had none. There was not a single true opening, but to the challenger their appeared many, it appeared as if the Mayonaka had laid himself bare to the world, ready to be felled in any moment. A deep breath, blade striking out in a diagonal slash, his foot slid back gently against the soil, and his body swiveled to the right, towards the blow, and his blade slid from its sheath and there was no clash, only a brilliance of movement and light on the blade as one met the other, and the lesser creation submitted completely to the will of Midnight.

There was not even a single sound for the witnesses to perceive, only the brilliance, and then the soft sound of the lesser katana falling to the ground and the challenger's backwards stumbles. "Know its name, the name of the blade which cuts down this man, Chinmoku: E assuru hontō no jiko(_{沉黙：へ圧する本当の自己} 'Silence: Overwhelm the truest self')," the first blade of Mayonaka, the first wielder of the Shizukana-ryū-ji no. So, his challenger fell, a sensation of weightless bliss coming over him in his last moments, spent falling to the ground for the brilliant silence had pierced him, and he understood.

Few remember this story now, though for its story is passed down in the metal of their blade, who shall forever bare in its name: Chinmoku, for the silence and peace of their ancestor, the man who defeated the man with majesty in his eyes: Miyamoto Musashi. This, is their legacy, the legacy of the Shizukana-ryū-ji no.

Yet while here ends the story of the first, it is by no means the end of the story as 12 descendants passed, each with blade renewed until finally it came to be that Chinmoku was a blade such as to effect its wielder. This could not be, they would not allow the blade to dominate them, there had to be a mediator between, and so the 13th descendent of No-hassan spent most of her life gathering supplies, the materials needed and the knowledge necessary for her lofty task. Tanoshī(pleasant), the 13th descendant of No-hassan, after 15 years gathered that which she needed, and her task truly begun. For the rest of her life she crafted, carried, and meditated with her creation, attuning first herself with the artifact, and then attuning it with the blade. Finally, on her deathbed she asked to hold the two together and with the last of her strength she united the two, sheathing Chinmoku within its new counter part: The Tōrenai-men to naikō(_{通れない面と乃公} 'Ego with an impassable mask'), a magnificent sheath, her life work. Then she collapsed into the peacefulness and serenity of death, her end as pleasant as her beginnings.

From then till now the Mayonaka have lived in relative peace, until the war of 10 years ago. This perhaps the only time in history wherein the Mayonaka took up arms for a greater cause, spreading their deadly serenity among the ranks of Kyokujitsu no Tochi's enemies. While before the war the Mayonaka were well known within the Land of Iron, their name now strikes fear into the minds of those who face them. Some have even coined their style the “Equilizer,” as it appears to allow those who have mastered it or one of its forms, a degree of resistance to the techniques of shinobi, though not in a manner one would call defense.

Nonetheless, the Mayonaka, these days, take in students from far and wide to train in their art thus making them one of the leading swordmaster families in the world.

Miscellaneous: It should be noted that the Mayonaka are in good standing with the Masazane clan.

Style

Shizukana-ryū-ji no(Style of the tranquil path).
Description:
"To the eyes of a swordsman it is a strange aloof thing, beautiful in its strangeness; to a peasant it is a strange peace embodied by the swordsman's form, blade and sheath and mortality alike; but to the truest of swordmasters, one who understands that there is always more to learn, it is a masterpiece constantly renewing itself to perfection. This is the Shizukana-ryū-ji no, the style of the tranquil path," - Mayonaka, Yōi-tsūka.

The style of the Mayonaka clan is a constantly renovated masterpiece, for while many a style does not change once one has considered it perfected, this style is not as such. With every passing generation it is altered slightly to reach further towards the ideal of perfection.

There are two codes which practitioners of the Shizukana-ryū-ji no live, the first set of codes are those of the Mayonaka family, while the second are the dogma of the Shizukana-ryū-ji no itself. While those from outside can attempt to learn the Lotus dogma and become practitioners of the Style of the Tranquil Path, it is unlikely that they would ever truly be full practitioners of masters as they lack the background of the Mayonaka.

Tenants of Mayonaka

• Be humble, but understanding of yourself and your place in the world. However, never allow yourself to limit yourself to this position.[/*]

The Lotus Dogma

The four petals of the lotus flower, a flower which sits upon the surface of the water and spreads its arms in the four directions, represent the four core ways that the blade is drawn and wielded in the Shizukana-ryū-ji no. These four methods of unsheathing and positioning the blade are considered part of the No geijutsu nodjiita ken(_{の芸術野地板剣} 'Art of Sheathing a Sword'). These forms are each named after one of the four cardinal directions each of which have their own purpose in the scope of the style, without one form the others would simply not be in balance, that is the way of tranquility.

Kita-muki Renge-hen(_{北向き蓮花片} 'North Facing Lotus Petal') draws the blade with its edge facing forwards and its tip pointing upwards, the sheath comes off by pulling it up along the blade rather than drawing the blade from the sheath. This is considered one of the most bizarre of the No geijutsu nodjiita ken, but is nonetheless necessary. Typically the user will place the sheath upon their shoulder with the edge of their blade pointing away from their body even while within the sheath. One of the few dogmas that has the user fully draw the blade almost at all times, the Kita-muki Renge-hen is used for frontal attack. Once the blade is drawn, the sheath tends to move to the shoulder opposite where the blade was originally drawn from. The blade itself is then held with the dominant hand with the blade vertical, tip pointing up, edge facing away and forwards. The pinky is used to stabilize it, while the rest of the hand grasps it, the arm in a diagonally downwards position. This dogma is actually used to create openings by sliding the attacks down the blade, and then utilizing the sheath to strike the attacks away from the blade as it flows right into position to strike the opening. It tends to throw the attacker off balance while allowing the wielder to flow from defense into attack almost effortlessly.

Azuma-muki Renge-hen(_{東向き蓮花片} 'East Facing Lotus Petal') begins with one of the wielder's shoulders facing towards their enemy as they stand sideways. The left palm cradles the sheath, the blade's point aimed forwards towards the enemy or target and the sheathed edge facing away from the user's side, to the right. The fingers of the left hand are pointed towards the hilt as the hand cradles the sheath while its kin on the right hand easily grasp the grip of the blade. With this the stance is set and the user may use the variable movements of the sheathed tip with precision to disrupt the flow of attacks and then sway the blade to the other side of the body, exposing the other shoulder and hiding the prior thus allowing the blade to be drawn, its edge still facing right, to strike. This No geijutsu nodjiita ken is utilized to disrupt and then simultaneously block and strike the following counter if necessary. It is an intriguing and certainly unique form of the style.

Minami-muki Renge-hen(_{南向き蓮花片} 'South Facing Lotus Petal') is likely the most bizarre forms of the Shizukana-ryū-ji no as it is not used in true conflict, or at least that is not its primary purpose. Rather than conflict the form is used to disarm an armed opponent, even if this opponent's weapon is their body, their jutsu, or their mind. Standing with feet apart and the point of the blade facing to either side, blade horizontal and sheathed edge pointing towards the wielder, this style begins. Beside the blade itself, as the sheath is seldom used in this form, a guard on the forearm is typically applied so as to shield from the wielder's blade as it is held in reverse grip with the edge facing towards the arm rather than away. Another of this form's defining characteristics is that most of its attacks are delivered backwards and are piercing or pincer oriented. Beyond this there is only one other truly unique thing to be said regarding the Minami-muki Renge-hen, and that is that it is the only form (excluding the Shinzui no Hasu) of the Shizukana-ryū-ji no that can tap into the yin and yang of both the wielder and their opponent intentionally. It does this by using the blade as a conduit, which is how they manage to seal off certain capabilities, or even tenketsu if one is skilled enough. In this way it differentiates itself from the other No geijutsu no nodjiita ken.

Nishi ni menshi Renge-hen(_{西に面した蓮花片} 'West Facing Lotus Petal') first cradles the sheathed blade with the left arm, letting most of the sheath rest against the crook of the elbow. Within the sheath the edge will face away from the user's body, conversely it can face towards the user's body if they happen to wield the blade better with their left arm rather than their right. Given that they are right handed though, they will rest their left hand, fingers outstretched, along the sheath near where the blade's hilt is located. The blade is drawn by simultaneously pulling the sheath back with the left arm and drawing the blade with the right hand. The only explicit rule of this dogma is that the edge must always face towards the user's left side, meaning if it is drawn from the right side, its edge must be pointing towards the left. Many applications of this style do not actually fully draw the blade. Rather the sheath and hilt are used to block and trap the weapons or attacks of the enemy, flick them away and then quick draw when openings are present. Additionally, with a hand on the sheath and a hand on the katana, the blade can be sheathed and drawn at increased speeds allowing a limb to be more easily cut off by forcing the blade through it by manipulating the it via the sheath's movement and positioning.

Shinzui no Hasu(_真髄の蓮 'Core of the Lotus') is both the initial and final style of the Shizukana-ryū-ji no as it is used first without its definitive stances to test the opponent(s), and then later as a last resort to be the core of the lotus dogma and bring together the other four petals into a cohesive whole, a unifying central point. In its essence it is simple yet complex as it unites the four forms into a wonderful state referred to as Mabayui mankai which simply allows the user to do something that'd be otherwise essentially impossible, utilize all the forms with little to no hesitation as one flows through them and with no possibility of harming oneself. Lastly it does one thing that no other form of the Shizukana-ryū-ji no, it discards the sheath.

Ancestral Weapon

Chinmoku: Yōikō no sharakuna ginren(_{沉黙: 容易光沢、洒落な銀蓮} 'Silence: Simple Match of the Boldest Silver Lotus').

Tōrenai-men to naikō(_{通れない面と乃公} 'Ego with an impassable mask').

Description:
A blade whose essence has been passed down through the Mayonaka family since its beginning, Chinmoku changes with each of its wielders' passing. The blade, due to how many times it has been altered and had chakra poured into its magnificent form has become nigh unbreakable and gained an edge so sharp that in the right hands it could easily sheer through even the strongest of substances. Due to the nature of Chinmoku and the fact that with each passing generation it is reforged and renamed, something unique has come of its existence making it much more than just an ancestral blade. With each passing wielder it is melted down and taken apart only to be created once more to better suit the inheritor. Its name is than chosen via the use of the wielder's closest relatives, for while the user names the blade themselves and to express its new form and how it will be used, it must still reflect several of its more recent wielders to remember its place in the world. Beyond these facts there is still a very unique aspect that many never truly realize is present in Chinmoku, for only with in depth meditation and reflection with the blade can one realize that within the blade is something similar to a soul or consciousness of some form. In fact, from the very beginning, Chinmoku has imprinted the skills and wisdom of its wielder into itself, acting as an ancient record of all those who have wielded it in earnest. These skills and this wisdom can be accessed through meditation and trained into a form that can become reliable in combat, but in no way are they easy to obtain. After all, the blade has a consciousness, and to truly unlock its secrets Chinmoku's sheath must be taken off the wielder's person so that there is no filter between the blade and the wielder's consciousnesses. It becomes a tug of war, a power struggle to see whom shall truly influence whom. Once the blade has however lost this struggle and its wisdom and imprinted skill has been unlocked, the user can once again don Tōrenai-men to naikō and still access the bounty of experience imprinted within Chinmoku.

To expand, one ought to understand the nature of Chinmoku's sheath, Tōrenai-men to naikō, for without this sheath chinmoku would become an unwieldable monster, or rather it would be foolhardy to wield it if one did not want to go insane. In essence, the Tōrenai-men to naikō was created to filter the influence of Chinmoku's soul on its wielder. When Chinmoku is sheathed its influence is entirely filtered, and even if drawn it is not able to subjugate or totally influence its wielder as long as the Tōrenai-men to naikō is on their person. It is only when the blade is wielded and sheath discarded that its influence becomes dangerous to the mind of the wielder. Otherwise it has been seen that the sheath is just as resistant to damage as Chinmoku itself, the actual reasons behind this are unknown, but it is thought that the sheath was made to be even more impervious than Chinmoku so that it would not be destroyed, damaged, or influenced by the blade which it is meant to limit. Last of all, it has been seen that the Tōrenai-men to naikō has an incredibly calming effect on any whom it touches, entering them almost into a state of pure all consuming serenity. This effect can be felt even through clothing and indirectly through a weapon or armor, though its effects would be noticeably dulled. It is said that, in essence, Chinmoku and Tōrenai-men to naikō are the yin and yang to one another, for while Chinmoku is used for physical damage and destruction --embodying the yang-- Tōrenai-men to naikō is used to bring peace and serenity by way of sheathing the blade and keeping it from destroying --thus embodying the yin. So it has been seen that one cannot be used without the other, plain and simple.
