You're not even part of this rp, granted you're free to say whatever here, but just what are you doing? You've not even applied.


What I do have is a full year of experience running a RWBY roleplay, and almost two years of ongoing experience studying and working with every minute detail of the setting.

My reasons for not applying are rather extensive, with the primary one being that while i was debating whether I would do so, and which character I would use, enough others applied that I figured it would be pointless.

If you'll look back, most if not all of the comments I have made were advisement based on personal experience of ways to ensure consistency with the canon to the closest possible degree.

That is super and all, but it also falls down to irrelevancy. Let's not forget this is an Alternate Universe Rp. While it might share the world to a larger degree, you cannot just go "Consistently canon." More power to you for liking such a thing, that is super actually... But it isn't your rp. And you come off as really pretentious...

That is like me going into anything you're running and giving you a know it all response to everything. "No 'A' should be like this and that."

This isn't me being a bitch, but what you did was kind of rude, especially since everyone here just wants to have fun.

Last Edit, I swear: I'm fine with the color naming rule. Except the fact Sun Wukong exist in RWBY. A Chinese Deity...

Then Ozpin, Salem (Which is a location...), and just... These things take a flying monkey shit dump on that rule with the canon. When characters in the source material shit on it, why can't I? Why can't everyone? I don't have to follow it when these characters deliberately just ignore it (In the canon no less). Hell... Oooblec is named after a nonexistant color (Dr.Suss would like to have some words with you) no less.

Part of the naming rule is that the name also needs to make one think of a colour. Sun Wukong makes you think of yellow and monkeys. Sun monkeys. I don't think it goes against the ruling as a result.

And Phantom you speculated on joining for so long that the cutoff ended by the time you decided and now you just don't want to admit you messed up. You mention a year of GMing a RWBY RP in an attempt to appeal to experience, to make yourself desireable, you say your reasons for not applying are "extensive", as an attempt to suggest we're doing something wrong, but you don't mention anything because you don't have anything solid, or are just bluffing.

All your input has been overenthusiastic and acting like you're better.

Take this from someone with several years of experiencing RPing, half of that as a GM. Many times have I actually done things similar to what you're doing now in the past.

When you join an RP, fall in line. If you don't like how the GM has set things out, you simply leave and don't look back. If you have anything you think might improve the RP... Send the GM a PM instead of bringing it up in OOC.

Ozpin I believe is stated to predate the war that inspired people to start naming their children after colors, probably the same with salem, assuming that's the name she was born with.

Also Sun isn't the first to be named after a deity, i mean hell Neptune is on his team, Nora's last name is based on the women who brought warriors to valhalla

And even if it isn't the naming convention that is bothering him for whatever reason. He still has no reason to post his "Ideal Character sheet." And the color rule. Like, everyone here knows it, and the GM even said he wasn't enforcing it since the interest check. There is NO point of posting a link to it. Like he did so two to three days ago.

It is all so... contradictory. Especially as you put it "He could have just posted to the GM in a PM."
Like, ever since his first post, it seems like he wanted to man handle this, despite... Since the Interest Check... "Alternate Universe.".

I'm not even upset. It is just me going. "Why is he here? What is your purpose of being on this OOC? If you wanted to apply, you would have requested a spot... The very first post." So it isn't a matter of "extensive". He's either busy, or he isn't. He wants to, or does not want to. It just... It isn't logical.

That is fair, but still. Ooblec is named after a Dr.Suss entity. Which isn't even a real color like most characters are named after to some degree. (I say to some degree, because again, if we had to be ultra technical and what not, four of these characters are not quite fitting in some areas in the canon, but it is a big whatever to me. It just furthers the point of the rule should not be enforced. Not that we are.)

Nora's name and colour comes from a flower, the Nora Barlow Columbine flower. Neptune's colour comes from the planet Neptune, which is blue with other hues.

No one said names couldn't have more than one meaning behind it.

Also the qualification for the naming rule is just it has to be any kind of colour, whether or not that colour is imaginable is another thing entirely, as long as it qualifies as a colour. That's why Ooblec counts.

Hmm.... I suppose.

But what if it is a made up naming for a color? That is a question I never get a response back at.

However, I am going to rest for the time being, I'll be up later to see if there are any more updates, but for the most part, I hope everyone enjoys the remainder of the rp.

(Fun Fact, Noir Black is a subversion of comics and noir based theming. As in Mysteries and what not. She was fun to make.)

This is part of why i'm not heavily enforcing the colour naming rule. In the spirit of things, it's great everyone has adhered to it, and I too will be adhering to it the best of my ability, but story and character takes priority over rules to me. I won't go breaking them, i'm just not going to go hounding people for them.

May the ghost of Oum strike me down for my transgressions.

I wouldn't heavily enforce it either since it is trivial, but I would make the suggestion to them if they haven't. Plus, it's actually a good thing to get into the habit of doing research for naming too, you can find some parallels and new ideas for your character along the way that can give the name a much deeper meaning than it being what they're called.

My reasons for not eventually applying;

Deciding which of the 20 or so student characters in my personal library to use

Adapting backstory to justify that character moving to this new kingdom, or otherwise placing them in that location.

Spending three days without sleeping for some reason which i'm still trying to figure out which made it difficult to do the previous things

Converting characters from their archived sheets onto the provided template, which would have required shaving down a LOT of details

And a bunch of more trivial IRL details which reduced the amount of free time I had available over the last couple weeks.

While I did miss the deadline, it is not a simple matter of trying to save face, I wasn't particularly interested in playing which delayed me in deciding which character to use, cascading into other events mentioned.

The reason I'm here is because Fox pointed me this way, thinking I might be interested, and I figured while I was here I could provide some insight based on my own experience running a similar game.

Sorry for causing trouble, and sorry for seeming aggressive/condescending. My intents were not mean spirited, merely misguided.
