Mary Aylmer was an old vampire, she was 376 years old and had fought in her own kinds wars for hundreds of years. She had faced down monsters of the sort that most humans would never have even imagined, not even in their worst nightmares. She had slain vampires, mad witches, werewolves, fey and more, and yet in this moment she was terrified then ever, even in this safe little town.

Mary lived alone on the outskirts of town. It was easier that way for her, away from most society. She was rarely visited by any species other than her own, and thus the first knock on her door, late at night, caught her by surprise.

When she opened the door she was even more shocked to find two children, even by human standards, the elder, a girl no more that sixteen, with long blond hair, bangs hanging down over her eyes. She was wearing a flannel shirt unbuttoned over a light weight tank top with the sleeves rolled up and some type if camping backpack.

The boy couldn't have been more than eight, the same light blond hair, long, he was wearing a denim jacket much too large for him, over some type of stripped shirt.

"Can we use your phone please?" The girl asked. Mary's heart froze at the chilling sound of the voice. There was something wrong with these two.

"I don't have a phone child." She answered firmly, trying to sound steady and calm.

"You need to have a phone." The young girl spoke firmly, "You have to." Her voice spiked and she stomped her foot, shaking her hair out of her eyes.

Mary saw her eyes then. There was no iris, no white. Where those things should have been there was just black, black laced with red tendrils. So too, Mary realized, were the boys eyes, except while the girls eyes were laced with red tendrils, the boys were laced with blue.

---

Mary Aylmer's body was found hung upside down pierced with multiple stakes and blades, as well as wounds that were left gaping open, her fangs had been ripped out, and yet there was no blood anywhere.

This murder is considered to be top priority by the city council and is to be addressed immediately by the elders of all the races at an emergency meeting, open to any and all members of the town.

-Roland-
Roland was leaning behind his father's desk, his right hand supporting a black spiral bound notepad, the other twirling a bright yellow number two pencil. His father had just taken his seat, and the room was slowly filling with on-lookers, coming to hear what the council and the elders would have to say. This was, after all, the first murder to go unsolved for more than twenty-four hours in the town of Arryn in over a hundred years, and the emotions were a delicate mixture of fear and anger at the prospects of old tensions arising between the bloodlines of Arryn.
Roland cast his gaze out into the crowd that was gathering around the seal of the council and their desks, wondering if perhaps there was a freshly blooded killer among them. If there was Roland would have found himself at a loss. These were his neighbors, his friends. He had gone to school with these people, learned from these people, grown up surrounded by these people. To think that one of them could be the killer, it sent his stomach into spirals.

-Connor-
The Vida had passed a ruling earlier in the day restricting the permission of Coven members to attend the meeting. Those permitted to go to the 'open' town meeting were the best of their bloodline, the strongest, toughest most forceful looking, as well as those with reputations for strength and ability, and as Connor looked at the members of his Coven he realized he was the youngest of them there. Then he saw his uncle take a seat at the councilors table, and watched as his father and uncle quietly passed an almost imperceptible glance between one another a subtle nod, confirming that they were on the same page.

A hushed silence fell over the room and the Chairman of the Council, a human name Frank Galloway, cleared his throat. "Today we are here to bring to light the issue of the death of one Mary Aylmer, a member of the D'finn bloodline. At this time, it can be confirmed, due to the manor of her death, that her passing was neither accidental nor self inflicted, and that as of today, our police force will be opening an investigation into the matter. With that being said, are there any questions?"

Kira watched the trees go by through the window of the cab's back seat. She had waited for three hours for her father or brother to come and pick her up from the airport before she had finally gotten fed up and just took the taxi. She sighed and put her head back against the seat's head rest, closing her eyes. It'd be good to get home, back with her pack and among friends. She was probably most excited to see Roland and Connor again besides her brothers and and sisters. Her mother was probably off somewhere over looking pack or council affairs. Her eyes snapped open when she heard the slightest squeak of the taxi's brakes.

"You sure you want me to drop you off here?" The cabby asked.

"Yeah, here's perfect," Kira said, climbing out.

She paid for the ride before getting the single camping back pack out of the trunk and starting off through the dense woods, taking in a deep breath and then making her way to the town. Once she reached the outskirts, she frowned at how dead everything was, sure there were a few people out but not as many as there should've been, her pack should've been all over the place. Maybe there'd be people more closer to the center of town. And with that thought, she continued on.

-Jenna-
Jenna entered the the Council's meeting room, and took a quick glance around the room. Though normally a chipper little old woman, today Jenna shared the same heaviness as the rest of the town, the heaviness of fear, confusion and mourning. Jenna had not known Mary Aylmer extremely well, but she still felt the pain from the loss of a member of Arryn, as she would for any member of the supernatural town. There was a certain level of unity throughout the town that was brought on by the secret all of the town's inhabitants kept. With the murder of Mary, Jenna feared the sense of unity being questioned if the feelings of frustration and sadness gave way to feelings of distrust and anger. Jenna had always felt a sense of motherly love towards all the citizens of Arryn, and she worried about how the town would handle this horrendous murder of one of its own. Jenna glanced behind her to make sure Rose was still following her, and found the girl staring off into the distance, lost in her own little world. Jenna chuckled as she realized that at least that was one thing that would never change- Rose would always be ADD and off in her own little world. Jenna grabbed the girl's hand gently, snapping her from her daydreams, and nodded her head toward two empty seats close to the front, near the Council members' chairs. They took their seats just as the Chairman of the Council began to speak.

-Rose-
Rose silently followed Jenna into the packed Council chambers. She vaguely remember being is this room a couple times before as a child, but she could not place the memory. Rose shrugged her shoulders to herself as she gave up on placing the memory, off in her own little world as always. Jenna had taken to calling it "Rosie-land" but had given up on trying to stop her constant daydreaming when a five year old Rose had replied, "Yeah, but it's ok, everyone knows me there." Jenna had laughed at her cute and clever response and decided that Rose would always be off in her own little world.

Rose broke from her daydreams only long enough to taken in everything and everyone around her. She had not known Mary very well, but it was still nerve-wracking to know that someone could so easily murder a vampire as wise and strong as Mary. Rose took note of each of the Councilmen, and the people standing close to them. Rose wondered how the Councilmen planned to address the murder. Jenna grabbed her hand, breaking her from pondering the meeting just as Rose noticed the head of the Vida coven and head of the D'finn nest nodding at each other. Rose ignored it, following Jenna over to the seats she had found.

Yamato Eiichi

He sat neither at the council table, nor with the attendees in the meeting hall. The joys of being law enforcement put him off to the side of the council, leaning on the wall midway between the groups, of all things. Yamato's job was to observe, not participate, in the goings on here. And he was quite happy to let the council take charge of the talking. He reached to his side to pull out his pocket notebook. Other policemen might find it a silly object to take down numbers, names, and doodles in. But he remembered when there were no such things as computers. This was as high tech as you got, when he was growing up. Of course, his family had always been traditionalist.

And, while on the topic... None of them were present, except for his grandfather and father. No doubt the others felt little need to be involved here. The elders would say what logically needed to be said, and all the information needed could be extracted from himself. In other words, they treated the murder like anything else. No unnecessary actions. Soon enough, the council began the meeting however. And he was ready. Notes in one hand, and a spell on his lips, ready for action. Who knows what could happen in this room? Long standing trust was a bit shaky, and Mary’s family were under some stress. Someone had to open this meeting up though.

The gathered people began a clamor once the floor was opened, and voices came and went. Finally a voice spoke firmly, "I guess I will open it up with what I know a lot of us are thinking." A small D'finn vampire spoke from the back of the room. "Do we have any leads, are there suspects? Do we know who killed her, and how will we be going about bringing them to justice?" By the end of his spiel he had raise his voice from what had started as a firm statement to nearly a shout.
The chairman glanced at the members of the council, straightened his tie. "Well as of yet the investigation has only just begun, so we can't quite be sure of any list of suspects, however I can assure you that the police force of the town will be devoting a large amount of their time to solving this." He took a deep breath. "While it cannot be confirmed as of yet, I would like to make a slightly more personal comment before we close for a private council meeting. I do not, no I cannot believe that one of the citizens of this town is responsible for the atrocity committed. We live here, together, not as nests, covens, packs, and courts, but as a community of beings that want only peace together. Beyond that the public segment of this meeting is adjourned."

-Roland-
When the chairman basically kicked everybody out Roland picked up his notebook and slipped out through a side door to head to the library to pick up his stuff. Once he had his backpack on he started walking, but as he left the parking lot he decided instead of turning left and heading towards home, he was going to head right towards the soda shop and see how Auntie J was doing, and to pick up a cream soda. The meeting had left him slightly shaken, though the mayors parting message had given him some hope on how the town might be able to pull together, not rip itself apart.

Kira had reached the town center just as the meeting was let out. Ah, so that's why no one had gone to pick her up. She almost waved to some of her pack when a very familiar face caught her attention and she smirked, diverting course to bump into Roland. She had known him since grade school, same with Connor but she and Roland had been in the same grade up until she left. He didn't change much, but he towered over her as usual, just a few inches more and he didn't look like a scrawny toothpick anymore.

"Well, if it isn't my old friend. My, you've changed in the last 4 years," She said, walking up behind him.

Will sat through a short, uninformative public meeting, and was made to leave for the more useful private council meeting. At least, he hoped it would be more useful. It may be the case that they sent the public away to hide their ignorance on the matter. It irked him a little that the council and the "elders" had members to whom he could easily have been a great great grandparent. Of course... it also had members who made him look just as young.

But now he must brave the sun again. He put his hood up and walked out the door, ahead of a lot of the group, as he had been hanging at the back of the room. He was already up at this ungodly hour of the day, and figured he may as well join in on the gossip so he didn't get it all late after the sun set. He walked up alongside Jenna Silvers as she left.
"Miss Silvers," he greeted in a friendly tone of voice, "How are you this," he smirked as he pulled his hood further over his face, "Fine day."

He spared a glance and half smile for Rose. She troubled him some, and he was never sure why.

-Jenna (Auntie J)-
Jenna found the meeting to be but a mere show of courtesy and an attempt at keeping the citizens calm, made by the Council. Just as quickly as the meeting had started, it had ended. Jenna saw the meeting as a waste of time, because little to no actual information had be shared before every citizen, other than those on the Council, had been kicked out before the proceedings of the meeting continued. Though she had not expected the Council to provide the citizen with all the details of the case, Jenna had expected that they would at least be informed a bit more on how the Council intended on finding the murderer or murderers.

As Jenna and Rose left the less than helpful meeting, Jenna heard herself addressed. Though she knew it was Will who addressed her from the sound of his voice, Jenna turned to face him before she addressed him back. Jenna chuckled kindly at his tone of voice, smirk, and obvious displeasure with the sunniness of the day. "Ah, hello Will. I am doing well on this fine day; however I find myself frustrated with the Council for wasting mine and everyone else's time with that so called meeting. But oh well, being frustrated with their utter exclusion of any actual information will not help myself or anyone else. How are you? How is the D'finn nest holding up with the loss of Mary?" Jenna questioned, her face turning to one of concern as she considered the pain the members of the D'finn nest must have been enduring.

-Rose-
Rose could tell that Auntie J was frustrated with the Council for providing such worthless information. Rose was also slightly irritated that the Council would promise a citizen involved meeting, only to try to appease the citizens by giving them little to no information that would actually be informative. Rose was off in her own little world again and thought to herself, "What a waste of time. I could have been working, or even better, I could have been training at the gym." Rose had recently been training in a martial arts form that was new to her, but she had been struggling to master it. Recently, most of her free time that wasn't spent working, reading, being nagged by Auntie J to work on her spells or runes, or being sick, was spent in the gym or out in the clearing a little ways away from the soda shop, training herself in this martial arts form. Yet, she had still not been able to master certain intricate and more advanced moves. The fact that she couldn't master this martial arts form bugged her, but she figured it was most likely because recently her body had not been easily accepting blood, so she was lacking her usual physical strength.

Upon hearing Will address Auntie J, Rose snapped out of her train of thought. Rose looked up at Will as he glanced over at her. Though she could sense the unease that was commonly in his eyes when he looked at her, Rose ignored the look and half smiled back at him and gave a slight nod. As Jenna talked with Will, Rose looked around and noticed that the citizens were dispersing, and that a few were headed back towards town where the soda shop was located. Rose figured that someone ought to be at the soda shop incase customers showed up. Rose quickly explained as much to Auntie J, and offered to go back to run the place so that Auntie J could continue talking with Will. Auntie J agreed, and gave Rose a quick nod before shooing her away and returning her attention to Will. With that, Rose turned and walked briskly down the sidewalk toward the soda shop. As she walked, Rose again began to think about what she would have to do to master the martial art she was training, off in her own little world yet again.

-Roland-
"You're one to talk, last I saw you, you were just a little pup, about to head out to go get on a big plane to Ireland." Roland ruffled the hair of the short werewolf, she hadn't changed overly much, same hair, same face, and same slightly feral light in her eyes. "How was getting to know the family?" He asked with a grin, then sharply remembered the situation, the meeting he had just left. "Right you probably haven't heard. You sure picked one heck of a day to come back home. Mary Alymer, the D'finn that lived over out on the western edge of town? She was apparently murdered last night. Nastily. The cops are supposed to be looking into it, the council is having a meeting on it right now."

"I was heading down to the ice cream shop, wanna come with? I'm willing to bet half of town will be there within the next few hours, might be a good place to catch up with some old faces."

-Connor-
Connor had ducked out of the meeting as soon as the public had been, for lack of a better terminology in his mind, kicked out. He had wanted to head down to Auntie J's before everyone else in town had the same idea, he hated waiting in line, and even a town this size, there would probably be a long wait in half an hour. Sadly the thought hadn't crossed his mind that Auntie J and Rosie were both probably at the meeting, and as was apparent by the locked door and the 'Gone for a Coke' sponsored break sign hanging in the window, neither of them had rushed down here quite as quickly as he had, and so it was that he was sitting on the curb, waiting forlornly for one of them to arrive.

Rose slipped past the other people who were walking down the sidewalks, keeping her brisk pace up. Measuring in at a slight 4'11" Rose knew she would probably be beat by potential customers to the Soda Shop, even with her brisk pace. With that in mind, Rose picked up her pace even more, weaving through small groups of people as she jogged down the street. Finally she made it to the Soda Shop. The first thing she noticed was that, as she had suspected would happen, she had been beaten to the building. She recognized the lucky soul sitting on the curb as one of the D'finn and Vida kin, named Connor. "Sorry about the wait! Auntie J is busy talking with a friend, but I can take care of you," Rose addressed Connor, as she efficiently unlocked the front door, as she had a million times before. She slipped inside and held the door open for Connor, flicking on the lights while she was at it. "So what can I get for you?" Rose asked him, with a kind smile.

A light snarl left Kira's lips as Roland ruffled her hair, quickly dodging away and straighten the red tresses out before resuming her walk next to him.

"It was interesting. The first week, I had absolutely no idea how to handle myself and my girl cousins loved partying so we'd go out almost every weekend, I was the designated driver until I turned 18... Thanks for sending me a birthday present by the way," She said before continuing.

"I learned how to fire a bow and fight with a sword, my uncles would set me up against their oldest sons, needless to say, I went to bed black and blue almost every night. And hunting was a blast! The deer where my cousins live get HUGE!" Kira exclaimed with a big smile and then her smile vanished at the sobering news.

"I liked Mary, I used to visit her when I was little. Is my mother lending some of the trackers to help the police?"

It was almost sick how sweet Jenna Silvers was. And Will was not alone in loving her for it. "Daywalkers and your sun..." He muttered, jokingly. "We're fairing as well as we can. You know as well as I do that living too long lets one see a great deal more death than one would like. But we're not used to losing one of our own. It's jarring... and frightening. It frightens everyone, though." He looked earnestly into her face, "What could do that? And to her?"

-Connor-
"No worries, I kinda got here as fast as I could on purpose, you know, to beat everybody." Connor laughed, a short semi self-deprecating laugh seeing as he had rushed so much that he had even beaten the person who needed to open the door, "And can I get a cream soda with mango ice cream please?" He asked with a large grin.
As he finished his order and was going to fish out a bill to pay, he felt his phone vibrating in his pocket. He pulled it out to check and saw it was his uncle calling, he looked apologetically to Rose, handed her a twenty dollar bill and answered, "Hey Uncle Mikey, what's up? Oh, oh crap I hadn't even thought of that, yeah, yeah. I'll go with her, crap, yeah, give me a sec and I'll head down to the nest."
He looked up to Rose, "Can I actually get that to go? The council made a point, I have to swing by the D'finn nest to escort one of the younger kin to the police station." Connor had a sudden realization, "You're D'finn too. Uh, I hate to ask this, I know you don't really like to hang out with the D'finn much, but I would feel better if I didn't leave you here on your own, would you mind locking up and coming with me? You could text Auntie J, I'm sure she'd rather I not leave you alone either."

-Roland-
Roland chuckled when Kira dodged to the side, "Well it sounds like you had fun," he teased as he continued heading for the soda shop. "You said you learned to shoot a bow and arrow and fight with a sword, any good with either of those things?" He laughed, then shook his head slightly, stopping whatever response Kira was about to give.
"As for what's going on with Mary, my guess is you know about as much as I do. The open, public meeting was a bunch of bull, smoke screens by the city council and the elders to quiet the residents, any real info getting shared and worked from is being talked about right now in their private members only meeting." Roland did his best to not sound too bitter. He wanted more then anything to be sitting in that meeting with his father and mother, listening to the going ons of the case.
He shrugged as they got to the soda shop, "Feral pups first," he teased with a smile, pulling the door open for her.
"That was stupid and pointless Ira." The small boy chided the girl from his perch on a low hanging branch, his voice sounded wise beyond it's years, eerie in it's high pitched tone, and coming from a child's mouth. "She wasn't what we were looking for in the first place, and we took what we needed from her, you shouldn't have made such a mess."
"Shut up Bel." The girl, Ira, was leaning against the tree beneath him and her face was taught muscles pulled tight. "We couldn't leave her alive."
"We also shouldn't have left a huge mess for the townsfolk to find." Bel retorted. "Lulu won't be happy about this."
"Yeah well were you gonna hide the corpse?" She retorted peevishly.
"Point taken, I still think you have major issues. Hanging her from the chains seems relatively unnecessary." The boys voice, though high pitched seemed to come only in a monotone.
"Oh shove it." The Ira said, clenching her jaw.
"I knew we should have headed back to the city where Lulu found you to make him."
"Well we are going now!" Ira shrieked. Her eyes, which had been almost human, a blueish grey with just the faintest thing off, went pure black with red veins as she turned to throw a punch at Bel.
She froze as where Bel had been was suddenly empty space.
"You need to calm yourself." The small body was suddenly floating just behind her and she felt the burning of the sharp tip of his dagger at the back of her neck.
"Fine, let's just hurry and find someone to make Mammon." She growled angrily, storming away. As her fury faded her eyes appeared to return to normal, and when she turned she watched as Bel's eyes too faded from black into a deep green.

-Jenna-
Jenna chuckled softly when Will mentioned daywalkers and the sun, shaking her head as she laughed quietly. As the topic turned back to Mary's death and the pain and fear it was causing the D'finn nest and the rest of the community, Jenna's visage sobered. "It is hard and fear-inducing to lose someone we all care about, especially someone as strong and resilient as Mary. I honestly have no idea, but I intend to find out who or what did this before anyone else can be hurt, and then I intended to end it," Jenna said in a cold tone, her face turning to a rare expression of anger.
Jenna was one of the sweetest, most caring little old ladies you would ever meet, and generally was always happy and loving towards everyone; but when someone messed with the people and town she loved, a rare glimpse of an angry, and quite honestly frightening, Jenna sometimes could be seen. At that moment, Will would have been able to see that terrifyingly angry look. When Jenna realized that she was letting the anger that was boiling inside her show on the surface, she took a deep breath and cleared her expression. Jenna reached out and tenderly patted Will's shoulder and in her usual kind and soft voice said, "I'm sorry about that Will. I let the anger get the best of me for a second there, but I know that anger won't bring Mary back, or stop whatever did this. I find that even in my old age, I still get fired up and think my pure fury will defeat anything that hurts those I love, but you and I both know that if this thing was able to kill Mary, then rushing in blindly with fury blinding our eyes will only get us killed as well. I figure until we figure out who or what did this and a plan, we best continue our lives. Would you like to come by the soda shop for a drink or something to eat?"

-Rose-
Rose walked behind the counter and started turning everything on as Connor talked to her. "Haha, well I'm sorry anyways. In my head I'm about six feet tall, but in reality my legs are so short I practically have to jog everywhere just to keep up with everyone," Rose joked light-heartedly. "One cream soda with mango ice cream coming right up," She assured, while smiling lightly back at him and starting to pulling out the ingredients she need to make his order.
Rose delicate hearing picked up the sound of the buzzing as the phone rang, and started looking around for the source for a second. When Connor pulled out the phone a deep pink shade brushed across Rose's cheekbones as she blushed out of embarrassment at her confusion over something as silly as a cellphone. Rose shook her head slightly, trying to rid her thoughts of the embarrassment. Rose took the money from him, and then continued making his order. She glanced up at him occasionally as he talked, curious about what he was talking about, but knowing she shouldn't get involved. The D'finn heads didn't like her enough as it was, so the last thing she needed to do was get involved in their business or mess with the nephew of the head of the D'finns.
By the time he got off the phone Rose had his order ready. "Of course!" Rose replied to his request. She pulled out a to-go cup and transferred the contents over. Rose was handing the cup Connor the cup when he started talking about Rose being a D'finn and coming to the D'finn nest with him. She froze for a second, her eyes piercing into his in confusion and distrust, before she gave a single quiet huff of a sarcastic laugh and set his cup and change down on the counter in front of him. "I don't like them? You're kidding, right?" Instead of letting him answer she shook her head, put her hands on her hips as she decided better than to go down that road, and started talking again. "I'll be fine here by myself, no one will mess with me. I know when I'm not wanted somewhere, and the D'finn nest is definitely one of those place. Anyways, why should I trust you? I barely know you. Why would you even want me to go with you? Besides, I can't just close the shop when customers are probably going to be stopping by at any moment," Rose retorted. Just as she was talking about customers the bells on the door chimed the arrival of said customers, only further backing up her point.
When Rose realized it was Roland she took a deep breath of relief and relaxed. Rose didn't even realize she had become so uptight, flustered, frustrated and nervous in the moment until she relaxed. The relief was apparent in her features and the way she held herself once Roland arrived. Rose recognized after a second that a girl had entered with Roland. The girl looked really familiar, but Rose felt like she hadn't seen her in a while. After another second of deliberation, Rose placed the face as Kira- a lycan who had left the country for a while to train with extended family.

Yamato Eiichi

His eyes picked out the speaker immediately- one of the victim’s relations. A rabble rouser. Yamato scribbled out a quick notation on the man. It could be deadly if the D’finn went on a manhunt, and it wasn’t something he wanted to deal with. Luckily their nest wasn’t easily overturned by something like emotion. Their leaders were both powerful and smart, so nothing should get out of hand. His hand froze for an instant before the note was finished- was he heartless to view the outburst like that? Not lacking of heart, but the silly english comparison of emotions to muscle. ... No. It was just his job to think clearly at times like this.

This lead to the end of the council’s meeting- dismissing pretty much anyone not ancient beyond comprehension. Yamato left as well, pondering what his next move should be. The station would likely want a report of some sort, but it would be a formality more than anything. In any case, they had to gather information. His family would be working on this themselves- to the Fey, a murder case was almost like a game... Until it involved people in the vicinity. Lightning seemed to crack in his mind. People. Vicinity.

Yamato wrote as he walked- almost aimlessly- through town. His memory was very good, it was only a matter of thinking back. Who had been with him the day Mary was found? Names flew from his pencil, along with notations on location, approximate time. The Chairman had said his peace about the town, but as a policeman Yamato was duty bound to persue all avenues available in search of the truth. The town was large, but the number of town members capable of inflicting that kind of damage to Mary was few. It would be useful to know what those few were doing the day of the discovery. On top of that, they would need to hunt down who last had seen her alive, and when. He sighed, shaking his head and picking up his walkeetahkee to listen in on a crackling report. This was another source of frustration. Technology. The only thing he knew how to do with it was press a button and talk, turn a little dial to make it louder or softer, and press this other button to make it stop working. Past that the magic of the little device was beyond him. It served it’s job though. Someone was being brought in, and it would be best if he was there.

Turning, Yamato slid his notepad into his front pocket along with the pen. His pacing had taken him through town a bit, but it was still only a few minutes walk back to the station. Possibly he would run into one of the ‘special few’ that he needed to talk to on the way back.

"Yes, I could use a little refreshment. Something cold," with that they made a slight change of direction to get to her shop. "I suppose I shouldn't be surprised to see you so fired up about this, but she was my nest mate, not yours. You don't have to do anything, let the D'Finn take care of themselves. Hell, if I had my way the police would step off too."

Kira smiled and nodded. She did have fun, but she missed being here. Ireland wasn't her home, just where some family lived and a place to have fun. And she was about to answer his question when he stopped her, frowning.

"So do you think your parents will tell you anything? Given that the eldest children are the next heads in our respective families, you'd think they'd at least keep us in the loop so we'd at least learn something if we can't do anything to help," She said then gave him a smirk when he called her feral. "Feral and proud."

She stepped through the door and her eyes quickly snapped to the two young adults in the shop. Connor was easy to recognize, even from the back. He didn't look much different... just a lot taller. What was this? Every one was a giant, well at least everyone except Rose. Rose!

"Well hello you two! I'm just seeing all of my old friends today," Kira said happily.

-Connor-
Connor was stricken by how vehemently Rose reacted to the concept of coming to the nest, he had always just assumed she stayed away of her own volition, plenty of vamps did, but beyond that it was the not feeling welcome part that got to him. He kind of got where she was coming from being a half blood and all, but he was a half blood too, and the D'finn had never been anything but kind to him... at least their brand of kindness. Which come to think of it, did come with a lot of aggression. Their kindness was actually kind of akin to a nest of hungry vipers savagely fighting over a rodent, and that was on the good days.
So maybe it made sense she felt unwelcome, he was about to make a counter remark when the door opened to Roland and Kira walking in. Wait a minuet. Kira was back?

-Roland-
"Rosie! Connor!" Roland tried to defuse what was obviously some tension between the two of them with warm hellos, "You guys remember Kira right?" Roland asked with a grin, "The pup is back from Ireland."
"Kira, I didn't know you were back. And great Roland, perfect timing," Connor took the opportunity, to try and get Roland on his side, plus since both his parents were at the council meeting right now chances were he would find out all of this information at some point, either later tonight, or tomorrow. "I just got a call from my Uncle, asking me to head over to the D'finn nest. The council thinks someone is specifically targeting the D'finn vampires. Apparently two days ago a D'finn branch family's mother came to my Uncle, to report to him that her son had gone missing. Uncle Mike thought we could handle it in house, but now it looks less like a run away, more like a specific act against the bloodline as a whole, so he wants me to take her to the station to give an official report to the police." After he finished almost as an afterthought he turned to Rose, "Hence why I don't feel comfortable leaving you here all on your own, if someone is targeting D'finn's you might be on the chopping block with the rest of us."
"Wait, wait, hold up a minuet," Roland said holding his hands up and shaking his head lightly, "Let me get this straight, the D'finn's were going to just not report a missing child?" He finished the statement with emphasis on the last word.
"Well in our defense he only really looks like a kid. He is full blooded, a true born vampire, so technically he's in his mid thirties, its actually a bit creepy, but parents are weird with vampire kids, and since they still look like kids it's hard for some of them to reconcile that they're full grown, so children is a loose term. Technically her son is older than we are, so Uncle Mike was gonna deal with it internally. The way he figured it odds were with the overbearing mother the guy might have just run off for some peace and quiet, I mean by human standards the guy is a full grown adult, he just really doesn't look like it." Connor finished the explanation then chuckled, "Thank the gods that that particular trait doesn't hold true for half breeds, eh?"
"We are getting distrated from the point here, there is now a missing D'finn, and a dead D'finn. It's starting to look more like a pattern than before, and I definitely agree, neither of you should be going anywhere all on your own, so I guess we will just have to accompany the both of you to the nest." Roland said with a note of finality to his voice.
